  1. I think the problems have come from one poster in particular so shouldn’t be too hard to solve. like others I read this forum more than the main pinkun website and TBH it’s my main source of news about the club. @cambridgeshire canary tends to pick up stories and repost them here so quickly 😂. i can’t see another forum making it unless this one is closed down, and I’d have thought the ad revenues would make that a mistake.
  2. Yes you're so unbothered that you replied straightaway LOL. Are you intending to give all us City fans plenty of amusement ? I should also break it to you that your photo looks like an Argentina shirt.
  3. Good point, overhauling Leeds when they had a 10 point lead was pretty satisfying, as compared to squeaking into 2nd when Wednesday messed it up towards the end... Also wouldn't it be accurate to say that runner-up trophy is the only thing they've achieved in 20 years ? I can't be bothered to look it up.
  4. LOL the difference is that I would bet Messi was not particularly bothered about beating England. Whereas.....
  5. I came across this article on the BBC website and it's pretty amusing IMO especially the point about Ed Sheeran being about to start college in 2009. Well done to the author 🙂 It's down the feed dated 17th December so you have to scroll down. Norwich City - BBC Sport
  6. That was a brilliant quote by the commentator at the end of the match, priceless.
  7. Interesting comment about Farke. Also if we look back at the first promotion under Farke, that was a very unusual route to win the Champs where we were free scoring but also had a very porous defence, and also relied on technical quality to make up for not being particularly physical as a side. It was widely speculated on here before we started the following Prem season that that was likely to be a problem, and so it turned out. For the second Farke promotion, ok people can quote numbers like £60m, but you can't get away from the fact that we lost the two most important members of the promotion winning team (Buendia and Skipp) and replaced neither of them, instead frittering the money away on wide players etc. Personally I think that next Prem season suffered from very poor recruitment decision making above all else.
  8. I think this thread shows that what it means to call it a "poor league" varies hugely depending on who you ask, and there are even some deluded binners who think it's all about them (bless). It's the flip side of the coin that in pre-season, you get a lot of posters every season saying how strong the Champs is going to be next season i.e. how hard it will be to win promotion from. Personally I think in general it's a pretty average Champs this year, but IMO Leicester who are the sole standout team so far are not as good as Burnley were last year. Some years you get 2 or 3 teams who are a class above, but not this season, at least not so far. It's summed up by the fact that we've been pretty indifferent but are still in touch with the playoff positions and have just been able to get an away draw at the team in 2nd.
  9. Yes he was caught out too often 1st half. But those tackles in the 2nd half and his general play were excellent. Can he does this consistently is the question for me.
  10. Sadly it’s not a joke, defo bandit country and I hope everyone made it back ok.
  11. During the game I thought it was very balanced and having Chris Sutton and their guy worked well, Sutton struck the perfect balance with being pro Norwich and winding up the other guy just enough, kudos to him, so no complaints from me. I switched off the post match interviews with the binners though.
  12. Would’ve taken that at the start and can’t complain. pushing the record on to 15 years too 👍😊
  13. You were the one who said Arsenal have paid £100m for a player who "sits and recycles the ball" which is nonsense as I pointed out because they paid that for an anchorman, and it seems you do understand that's not the same thing at all, which is why I said your post was hopelessly confused. Gilmour may be operating as a deep laying playmaker at Brighton (I'm not interested enough to watch him) but at Norwich he "sat and recycled the ball" with most of his passes going sideways or backwards, which is not a deep laying playmaker (or at least not a good one). Scholes or Pirlo he ain't. .As far as McLean goes, it's pretty well understood by us Norwich fans that he's not really up to the standard of the Premiership. Normann looked promising until he got injured and was poor when he did finally return. Was Gilmour better than them ? IMO not really, which says a lot. I suspect the "numbers" you're talking about are things like pass completion %, which was probably good for Gilmour due to most of his passes going sideways or backwards (did I mention that ?). Yes, I think it would be extremely strange to watch all the games he played for a club that you don't support, I've just looked it up on wikipedia and he made 24 appearances, why on earth would you watch every single one ? Or is this another example of you exaggerating like when you said Spain had no chances in a half when they hit the crossbar ? I think obsession is a fair way to describe the fact that you come on this messageboard despite having no connection to Norwich City whenever there is discussion about Gilmour. Yes, there are some on here who are also a bit obsessed with him which is why they make or bump Gilmour threads, but that doesn't change the fact that you also seem to be obsessed with him.
  14. Also generally it's at times like this I remember why I chose my username. If you can't take it on the chin sometimes then City is probably not the right club for you to support. I remember going to CR for a beam back one time when they stuffed us properly. More painful in a different way was when I went to their place for a 2-1 defeat, one of the goals we conceded being when Bryan Gunn was fooled by a bobble on their crappy pitch and did a complete air shot from a backpass by Robert Ullathorne which should have been completely innocuous (and went down as OG by Ullathorne, which I always felt was unfair on him). Also I went to their place for the play-off semi 1st leg and when they equalised their fans went berserk and were surging towards us like something out of a zombie movie, it was pretty disgusting to see (I was glad to have a seat well towards the back of the stand). Lots of respect to everyone making the trip in person tomorrow and I hope everyone makes it there and back safely.
  15. One of the more bizarre posts I remember seeing on here. It's a pretty rare city in the UK that doesn't have something like that.
  16. Brave ! Reminds me of watching on TV the game when BJ nearly burst the net, with a mix of City and binner fans in the pub in Nottingham. The binners started to drift away during the 2nd half LOL
  17. I'm afraid you're hopelessly confused. You seem to think "sitting and recycling the ball" is the "anchorman" role but they are totally different. Skipp played the anchorman role for us very effectively in the Champs, and the fact that Spurs then decided to keep him the following season shows how well he did. Gilmour for us was neither an anchorman, nor was he the attacking playmaker we needed. Instead he just drifted around ineffectually and mostly played simple short passes that were, more often than not, sideways or back. It's extremely strange if you really did watch "all the EPL games Gilmour played with Norwich". I'm a Norwich supporter and I couldn't honestly make that claim, I did watch most of them though. Unless he's a relative of yours. Which would explain your total obsession with posting about him on this forum, I suppose.
  18. No to all these questions. These players are not valuable because they "sit and recycle the ball". If Gilmour had played the same role as Skipp while he was at City to a decent level when he played for us, that would have been really useful and I personally would have been delighted to see it. But he didn't.
  19. I'd take a draw now. But sadly the binners are very much grinding out wins even when they're not playing well, which is exactly how you get promotion out of the Champs. It's a derby game so anything can happen. Head says 3-1 to them, heart says we sneak it with a late goal.
  20. It will continue to be a sad and depressing place. Thought I'd say it before anyone else did...
  21. I assumed it was this Ipswich Town v Norwich City: Paul Lambert verdict | The Pink Un
  22. It feels to me he's more being defensive about his failure at Ip**** when he says "I don't think there are too many players left from when I was there... Paul Cook came in after me and couldn't get a tune out of the guys. Then Kieran comes in and blitzes everything, which needed to be done." Maybe he just doesn't feel any need to be defensive about his time with us because it was clearly his most successful spell as a manager anywhere, ever ? Also on Saturday's game he says “They’ll fancy their chances against Norwich because of the way the form guide goes but derby games, as I’ve said before, it doesn’t matter if you’re top or bottom, derby games can go either way.” Brilliant bit of insight that.
  23. I can see your point but at the same time, I lost count of the number of times a Wednesday player fouled him as soon as the ball arrived. It must get a bit tiresome and I can understand someone going over when they feel the push. Buendia was treated the same way. They pretty much stifled him for the first half this way, it was the 2nd half before he started to find some bits of space, he needs to learn to deal with it. And he absolutely has that killer instinct. Looking back, the last time I saw a player coming out of our academy into the first team with the same natural attacking talent it was Bellamy.
  24. I'm trying to remember any games under Dean Smith when we won by two clear goals. I'm sure it must have happened ...
  25. Flipping it around, it's been 15 years since we had to look at the binners and think they're in a better position, in terms of the league, than we are. Which means many on here are not used to that feeling, whereas before 2009 it was not at all unusual. I'd never be envious of them because it makes me feel dirty to even think about their club frankly. But you have to accept this season they're in a better place than we are, and it very much has the look of our Champs season under Lambert for them, much as I hate to say it.
