  1. Be a change to hear something from the River End I suppose 🙂
  2. This is it, and I find it incredibly frustrating that playing out from the back is often met with groans from the crowd, whereas if we hoof it long, there's generally no reaction from the crowd even though that normally means we lose possession. Also Krul had a spell when he was passing it directly to opposition players in/around our penalty box, I have no idea what happened to him. But the solution was to drop him and let him go, not to stop playing it out from the back. I think it makes sense for the players to understand they can go long if they have to, because they're under too much pressure so they're at risk of losing the ball at the back. In fact, having the ability to vary it works well because a viable long ball outlet forces the other side to defend deeper and makes it easier to play it out from the back (it used to frustrate me under Farke that often the other side could tell we were never going to play it long, so their defence could push up and compress the area we were trying to play through). This could be a ball for Barnes or Sergeant to compete for in the air with someone to feed off the knock downs, or a ball behind the defence for someone like Rowe or Idah to run onto.
  3. My preference would be for Norwich to win the Premier League and the Champions League with Ip**** going out of business and Portaloo Road being re-developed as public lavatories (yes no real change there I know).
  4. Well he's got a cool Scandinavian name so that's always been a positive in my book....
  5. I can add the following Lionel Messi became the all time top scorer at Barcelona and set La Liga and European records for the most goals scored in a single season. Messi won the Ballon d'Or 7 times. Messi led Argentina to too many World Cup finals to count, finally winning it in 2022. Also I can exclusively reveal over this time Messi never saw Ip**** beat Norwich.
  6. For me it would be more interesting to compare the 2 halves as the binners were clearly better in the first half but not in the second, and why was this ?
  7. Basically the Dean Smith style of coaching as far as I can work it out !
  8. Yes I'd say it was losing Gunn and having Tracey in goal (was it only just for a month ?!) that put us on a downward spiral that season from being in a strong position, with a halfway decent backup to Gunn we'd never have been relegated. Also I remember being at the game with the Everton allegations in 2004, they just misheard it.
  9. I think the problems have come from one poster in particular so shouldn’t be too hard to solve. like others I read this forum more than the main pinkun website and TBH it’s my main source of news about the club. @cambridgeshire canary tends to pick up stories and repost them here so quickly 😂. i can’t see another forum making it unless this one is closed down, and I’d have thought the ad revenues would make that a mistake.
  10. Yes you're so unbothered that you replied straightaway LOL. Are you intending to give all us City fans plenty of amusement ? I should also break it to you that your photo looks like an Argentina shirt.
  11. Good point, overhauling Leeds when they had a 10 point lead was pretty satisfying, as compared to squeaking into 2nd when Wednesday messed it up towards the end... Also wouldn't it be accurate to say that runner-up trophy is the only thing they've achieved in 20 years ? I can't be bothered to look it up.
  12. LOL the difference is that I would bet Messi was not particularly bothered about beating England. Whereas.....
  13. I came across this article on the BBC website and it's pretty amusing IMO especially the point about Ed Sheeran being about to start college in 2009. Well done to the author 🙂 It's down the feed dated 17th December so you have to scroll down. Norwich City - BBC Sport
  14. That was a brilliant quote by the commentator at the end of the match, priceless.
  15. Interesting comment about Farke. Also if we look back at the first promotion under Farke, that was a very unusual route to win the Champs where we were free scoring but also had a very porous defence, and also relied on technical quality to make up for not being particularly physical as a side. It was widely speculated on here before we started the following Prem season that that was likely to be a problem, and so it turned out. For the second Farke promotion, ok people can quote numbers like £60m, but you can't get away from the fact that we lost the two most important members of the promotion winning team (Buendia and Skipp) and replaced neither of them, instead frittering the money away on wide players etc. Personally I think that next Prem season suffered from very poor recruitment decision making above all else.
  16. I think this thread shows that what it means to call it a "poor league" varies hugely depending on who you ask, and there are even some deluded binners who think it's all about them (bless). It's the flip side of the coin that in pre-season, you get a lot of posters every season saying how strong the Champs is going to be next season i.e. how hard it will be to win promotion from. Personally I think in general it's a pretty average Champs this year, but IMO Leicester who are the sole standout team so far are not as good as Burnley were last year. Some years you get 2 or 3 teams who are a class above, but not this season, at least not so far. It's summed up by the fact that we've been pretty indifferent but are still in touch with the playoff positions and have just been able to get an away draw at the team in 2nd.
  17. Yes he was caught out too often 1st half. But those tackles in the 2nd half and his general play were excellent. Can he does this consistently is the question for me.
  18. Sadly it’s not a joke, defo bandit country and I hope everyone made it back ok.
  19. During the game I thought it was very balanced and having Chris Sutton and their guy worked well, Sutton struck the perfect balance with being pro Norwich and winding up the other guy just enough, kudos to him, so no complaints from me. I switched off the post match interviews with the binners though.
  20. Would’ve taken that at the start and can’t complain. pushing the record on to 15 years too 👍😊
  21. You were the one who said Arsenal have paid £100m for a player who "sits and recycles the ball" which is nonsense as I pointed out because they paid that for an anchorman, and it seems you do understand that's not the same thing at all, which is why I said your post was hopelessly confused. Gilmour may be operating as a deep laying playmaker at Brighton (I'm not interested enough to watch him) but at Norwich he "sat and recycled the ball" with most of his passes going sideways or backwards, which is not a deep laying playmaker (or at least not a good one). Scholes or Pirlo he ain't. .As far as McLean goes, it's pretty well understood by us Norwich fans that he's not really up to the standard of the Premiership. Normann looked promising until he got injured and was poor when he did finally return. Was Gilmour better than them ? IMO not really, which says a lot. I suspect the "numbers" you're talking about are things like pass completion %, which was probably good for Gilmour due to most of his passes going sideways or backwards (did I mention that ?). Yes, I think it would be extremely strange to watch all the games he played for a club that you don't support, I've just looked it up on wikipedia and he made 24 appearances, why on earth would you watch every single one ? Or is this another example of you exaggerating like when you said Spain had no chances in a half when they hit the crossbar ? I think obsession is a fair way to describe the fact that you come on this messageboard despite having no connection to Norwich City whenever there is discussion about Gilmour. Yes, there are some on here who are also a bit obsessed with him which is why they make or bump Gilmour threads, but that doesn't change the fact that you also seem to be obsessed with him.
  22. Also generally it's at times like this I remember why I chose my username. If you can't take it on the chin sometimes then City is probably not the right club for you to support. I remember going to CR for a beam back one time when they stuffed us properly. More painful in a different way was when I went to their place for a 2-1 defeat, one of the goals we conceded being when Bryan Gunn was fooled by a bobble on their crappy pitch and did a complete air shot from a backpass by Robert Ullathorne which should have been completely innocuous (and went down as OG by Ullathorne, which I always felt was unfair on him). Also I went to their place for the play-off semi 1st leg and when they equalised their fans went berserk and were surging towards us like something out of a zombie movie, it was pretty disgusting to see (I was glad to have a seat well towards the back of the stand). Lots of respect to everyone making the trip in person tomorrow and I hope everyone makes it there and back safely.
  23. One of the more bizarre posts I remember seeing on here. It's a pretty rare city in the UK that doesn't have something like that.
