1.
What is Merson on about? He thinks we should''ve kept Hughton for tomorrow, lost our 8th away game in a row.....and then sack him cos we''re f***ed for the last 4 games anyway?
Exactly.  The logic from both Merson and Lawro is bizarre.  Lawro says it''ll be tough for Adams to get off to a winning start because our away record is so bad this season.  So that''s a good reason to keep the manager who has overseen that away record, then....   What they say just supports the case for replacing Hughton by Adams IMO.
2.
Enjoy the illegal stream you plastic f@@@@@
So do you think you''ve any chance of squeaking into the playoffs WC?
3. I just skip past his posts without reading them, mostly.
4. If you believe the statisticians there is no such thing. On average teams on a bad run tend to improve whether or not they sack their manager. This is known as reversion to the mean, ie after a set of worse than average results, it is likely results will improve to above average. But that''s just an average and I''m not convinced. I think under Hughton we had reached a stage where the players had no belief when playin away from home. So I am expecting an improved performance on Saturday
5.
A win would be nice but it''s a "must not lose" imo. A draw still leaves us 5 points clear with a better goal difference. It would give us a fighting chance.
This
6. Just checked actually and sherwood had no managerial experience before Spurs appointed him. So it''s ok for Spurs but not for us? Weird.
7.
I am struggling to find one is more challenging on the eye? Hughton out messiah back
WC - you may want to catch up on recent developments ?   I chuckled at the post saying you haven''t supported us "for very long."  "Ever" would be more like it.
8. I found this less annoying than I thought it would be. Really it comes down to a single point: would we have a better chance of survival with the experienced CH in charge for our final 5 games or changing him for NA? Nursey still says CH. Until Satudray I''d have agreed with him but with increasing reservations from the games leading up to it. But the WBA game showed the team under CH has gone into a slump which is getting worse not better. It is sophistry to say we''ve taken 7 points from the last 7 (as well as 4 from the last 6). Truth is the last 6/7 games were the more winnable ones leading up to our tough run in, and we needed better than a point per game from them to get to a comfortably safe position before the run in. A win 7 games ago to improve the average to a point per game just wasn''t good enough. So my answer is simply that our recent form has dropped off to the point where I feel that if CH had stayed we woukdnt have done enough to survive. So however well we do under NA, the change has been the right choice. We have a better chance of survival now and if Nursey disagrees I''d say he''s the deluded one.
9. But Shirley, if Utd win that''s also bad for us as they''ll be playing more confidently with a Euro semi coming up?
10. FWIW the DJ was Patrick Kielty but he was sitting in for Steve Wright in the afternoon slot and now you mention it, his general style was definitely Partridge-esque.
11.
We will lose all five now that Hoghton has been sacked.
Waveney - good to have you back. Not.
12. Good blog by the OP.  For me, having supported Hughton, the concern has been that away from home we''ve gone from some games when we played well but were unfortunate to lose, like West Ham, to poor performances where we didn''t really turn up, Swansea being the obvious example - you''d never believe they were below us before that game.  When that infected our home form on Saturday, I came to the conclusion it was unfortunately necessary to sack Hughton otherwise we''d probably sleepwalker to relegation.   For anyone to say they don''t care what the national media say about us is silly really... by posting on a thread about it you demonstrate that it matters to you.  I disagree with much of what is said in the nationals about my team, but I still care what they say.  I just wish they were better informed about us.
13. It is a downside to being in the Prem but better than the alternative.  I mean if 1p5wich sacked their manager, would anyone notice ?  I can''t even remember who is their manager now.   It was irritating in the car yesterday driving back from a meeting over in Liverpool.  The sports news on Radio 2 was running the story that McNally said the Board had no choice but to sack Hughton and there was an exchange at one point something like this :   DJ (after the sports bulletin while bantering with the sports guy) "So they had "no choice" did they?  They could have not sacked him.  That would have been a choice." (Laughs).[This was just a joke, not really a pro-Hughton comment IMO]. Sports Guy : "Well if you look at their fixtures, after Fulham on Saturday they''ve got games against teams like Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, Man City I think.  Certainly a very tough set of fixtures." DJ "They''re down aren''t they" Sports Guy : "It looks like it".   Well, if it "looks like we''re down" given our final fixtures and current position, then changing the manager would be a logical move, wouldn''t it ?  The only reason we''re favourites for relegation - as we''re 5 points above Fulham - is that we''ve been in a slump while they''ve picked up a couple of good results.  Changing the manager is a way to try to get us out of it.   A win on Saturday would be immensely satisfying for so many reasons.
14. Are we better placed than the Fulham fans to have a view on whether the change from Adams to Hughton is likely to be a help or hindrance to us on Saturday ?  Seriously ?  In the same way, I have no clue as to whether their two managerial changes so far this season were a good or a bad move. They won at Villa last weekend so that looks positive, but then Villa are having their worst home season ever.   As for Fulham''s weak areas... unfortunately, as someone who supported sticking with CH as manager until Saturday afternoon, he''s never been great at winning the tactical battle IMO.  It was more a case of having an approach, which sometimes worked and sometimes didn''t.   So tactically I feel we are (at least) no worse off with Adams in charge, and probably better - but it''s certainly a gamble.  The big plus with Adams in charge is that hopefully it will help the players shed their demoralized attitude.  So a worthwhile gamble IMO.
15.
He must stay regardless of the 5 games.
Why?
16.
I''m just worried that the lack of confidence is so severe that no man can change it. Who knows, they say "what a difference a day makes", and so maybe "what a difference a week makes".
TBH what do the Fulham fans know on their forum ?  We''re much better placed to have a view on this.   Also after our last couple of dire away games, with Hughton in charge you''d have been fearful of Fulham getting a repeat of last year anyway.  Which I think is a major reason why Hughton has been sacked.   So for me it can only be a positive.  The change of manager for us is likely to motivate/liberate the players and Adams is a safe pair of hands.  If we lose Saturday anyway at least the club has given it a go and there are still another 4 games, we really only need one result from them.  If we get a win Saturday we''re effectively safe.  Even a draw leaves them 5 points behind us with 4 to play.
17. A win Saturday and I think we are all but safe.  A defeat and we''re favourites for the 3rd relegation spot.  So yes, defo like a playoff final.
18.

He''s not a world beater. He''s a 20 year old striker who''s played a handful of top level games, not that many more at lower level. Has a good record for most of the England youth teams including U21s. Is highly rated by most who have coached him from various comments and articles i''ve seen. He is not a rubbish player. He is not a player who deserves ridicule and near abuse because he didn''t do very much as a 18 year at the beginning of last season in five appearances here.
But I still don''t understand why another teams developing 18 year olds are any better than ours who won the Youth Cup and are more than holding their own against the same players in the under 21s. Why did we give Harry Kane 5 games in our team and not Morris?
It''s a very good question.
19. Normally in football I think they get the balance of their contract paid out, so Hughton will get a year''s wages if he had a year left to go.   If he gets another job in that time, the wages for his new job would be set off I think.  Hence Di Matteo didn''t want to take a job this season because he is getting paid a fully salary by Chelsea and effectively he''d have been working for free.
20. Plus I think you''re putting way too much weight on McNally saying we''ll stay up. He''s simply putting on a confident front. Anyone with an interest in the club knows we''re at severe risk of relegation. Hughton would not have been sacked otherwise. Simple answer is that yes, it is a last roll of the dice to try to keep us up because we''re in a slump and it doesn''t look like CH could turn it around.
21. Problem with your argument Aggy is that the chips were well and truly down on Ssturday and CH failed. To sack him may look like strange timing to you - it certainly doesn''t to me.
