1. morning all, all the blues i know never go into games predicting city`s scores!, even after all the money and the complete trouserings we`ve handed out in recent years we still expect "typical city" to turn up when we least expect it!. i think it`ll be a lot tighter than many expect, but the worst thing norwich can do is to turn up and play a flat back 9, it may work for 75 minutes, but once it fails... (see newcastle two weeks ago). attacking is the best form of defence as many teams have proved, but- " Our possession stats this season are excellent and MC won''t be used to a team having the lion shares of possession. " city`s possession stats aren`t too bad either. we`ll see, good luck and may the best team win.
2. "Silva and Aguero out." i think silva will be fit for this one, sorry. whether pellers decides to play him or not...
3. it does happen to a degree in the prem. sergio aguero plays with `kun aguero` on his shirt.
4. if i may add to this thread without sounding like an `uber-pedant`, it was actually "man. city-man. utd." just because it was the media`s favourite team, doesn`t mean they come first!...    and breathe...
5. i would be surprised if any club was willing to take a gamble at that price. and i doubt spurs` chairman, levy, for example, would sanction that.
6. if like me, winning the cup as we (manchester city) did in may was effectively the first thing you`ve seen your club win in your lifetime, (i was so young that when we won the league cup in the 70`s i don`t remember it). then the sheer raw emotion of actually winning it shouldn`t be underestimated. i had tears rolling down my face as we lifted it, a fantastic feeling, i was giddy for a whole day afterwards...
7. as an `outsider` i`ve no opinion either way about "on the ball city", BUT, that goal music is cringe-inducing. i remember reading a survey a year or so back, and it was one of the things voted `most hated` in football grounds, even by supporters of teams whose sides did it. it rates alongside cheerleaders and people running up and down the touchlines with big flags!.what makes it worse is that no music is played when the opposition score, so you just get to hear the away fans going mental!.   my own team , manchester city, don`t have it, never had, and i hope there`d be insurrection if it was ever tried!!.
8. "Although when Man City come I may change my mind, especially if they play like they did 2 weeks ago!"   i live in hope!! :)
9.
Hmmm, video aside - how come they put so much content up for free? Don''t like the club morally, but they''ve scored one over Norwich there. Never have liked the premiumtv setup we have on the official site - it''s hard to navigate (i''m sure they lose sales from the club shop it''s so hard). On top of that if you''re not a member you hit a link and have to sign-in to view it. ...And then, to rub salt in if you''re not paying you may not be able to actually watch the link you clicked in the first place.
10. win, lose, or draw, don`t forget to look out for this from sunday onwards on mcfc.co.uk ! *thumbsup*
11. in around 2 hours you`ll be near newark, just about to join the A1 if that`s the way you are going, there`s a big roundabout just as you join the A1 which has various services, but isn`t up to much, there are a couple of cafes a few miles back near cranwell, which aren`t supposed to be too bad. whenever i do the trip, i do it in one hot, once you get on the A1 then m62 you really make progress. don`t know what time you are leaving, but why not wait til you get there ?. which junction are you using off the M62 just out of interest?.
12. "Unfortunately, it''s still Man City when all is said and done. They might buy success this season, but they will always be the second club in Manchester, I''m afraid." classy reply in a thread started by a canary fan just giving a little praise where it`s due to another club for an innovative idea. don`t let the green eyed monster eat you up.
13. can i just point out that though i love the tunnel cam, i am a manchester city supporter. you are right about the marketing and presentation though imo. the website is superb compared to every other one i`ve seen. most have the same `template` as norwich, city`s is full of video content, it even live streams many reserve games and youth team matches live for free. it did cost a lot of money to set up though, but you get what you pay for i suppose!. for those of you going up on saturday btw, there`s quite a bit going on around the ground pre-match, should be a good day out!.
14. they have it on the official MCFC site after every home game. it`s strangely addictive!. it`s always much the same but very watchable nonetheless.
15. the truly impressive thing about the sheikh and the money , isn`t all about the first team and the squad, it`s the money being spent off the pitch as well. if you go up to eastlands next week, just take time to look around the ground. the owners have bought a couple of hundred acres of east manchester surrounding the stadium, we now know that the `etihad campus` will be built there, with the training pitches , a seven thousand seater stadium for reserve games, plus a school and accomodation for 40 or so young trainees etc etc. but there still around a 100 acres where they haven`t released what will be built on it. in previous press releases they are talking about whatever they build there costing up to a billion!. plus they are putting money into other projects around city like it`s going out of fashion.our official club website cost over a million to set up , running a soccer academy for kids in sierra leone, building a rooftop training ground for kids in brooklyn new york, the list just goes on and on. these fellas are here for the long term. a funal quick idea of how they operate, a few days after they took over, the sheikh`s right -hand man came to formally view the stadium, he said that having all the offices inside wasn`t a good idea, that the stadium needed to be a place of `football only`. within weeks they drew up blueprints, got permission and had started constructing a blue office block next to the stadium!, cost 6 million, just like that.
16. i think the league is ours to lose if you get my drift. chelsea look to be close to meltdown atm, spurs might have a big say in who does win it, and the traditional enemy don`t look half as good as they did even 2 years ago, yet they keep fluking wins and grinding out results. liverpool are also rans imo. when we are `up for it` we are almost unplayable, so it`s in our hands now. if you`d gone back a few years, to even think of me typing stuff like this!. i don`t care what anybody else thinks about us and the money, if you got the chance to see david silva, aguero, yaya toure etc turning out in green and yellow, i don`t think you`d argue?!!...
17. "And the fact you can sling out Adebayor on loan who can walk into Tottenham''s starting 11, mental!" yeah, but they`re welcome to him. he`s a `sleeper`, just wait til he gets a contract there. the ink won`t be dry and he`ll be moaning about being disrespected. a leopard doesn`t change his spots. if you go down the leagues i think we have something like 28 players out on loan to other clubs atm.
18. there isn`t really a `second team` in my opinion. mancini has the luxury of being able to pick an 11 from, probably the best squad ever assembled in the premier leagues` history. there may be certain names who are slightly more `stellar` than others, silva, yaya and aguero for example, but even they sit out games. every player will get a chance, he juggles the pack depending upon who we are playing, at home? play a different side to the away games. need to speed it up?, again a different game to when we need to play the possession game. not a bad problem to have!. summed up by the fact that we lost one of our 4 strikers, tevez, and we don`t miss him!.
19. " Why are you on this forum if you''re a Man City fan? " a fair question!!. because i live here now, i married a norwich gell, and mosy of my inlaws are norwich fans. i don`t come on here to `troll` or do wind-ups, i just like to sometimes give what i think is an objective view on some of the matters raised on here. as for your game against us, with any bias set aside, you`ll be very lucky to get anything from your trip. not being big headed, just based upon what i`ve witnessed with my own eyes, it usually takes us about 10-20 minutes to get into gear, but once we do we play beautiful posession football. and currently averaging three + goals a game... good luck anyway, and i hope that any of you going up for it have a good day, hopefully there`ll be `chips on the concourse` this match!!.
20. we play liverpool on sunday. let`s see what happens there first.
21. "you wait until man utd come to town and man city " we (manchester city) always bring a lot, at the moment the game is still on a saturday at 3pm. i hope and pray they don`t change that. it`s a long way to come on a work/school night. united fans have no problem, most of them live locally, they can just get a bus.
22. ". They just came for the money. And to badge-kiss." you do come over as very bitter about it!!. of course they came for the money, why does any player move?. why did the players norwich have, join?, for the money if i`m not mistaken. apart from maybe 4 or 5 clubs who have a realistic chance of winning something, and probably pay the most as well, very few players at any other prem club would turn down a move if it doubled their money!, would you!?. rooney used the threat of a potential move to city to nearly double his wages after all . when push comes to shove, it`s their job after all.
23. " I just hate bought teams" ultimately, aren`t all teams bought. the days of local businessmen owning the club, and most of the players being from within a few miles of the ground are gone. at least in the top divisions anyway. (i know you have delia before you point that out!) it`s just a question of scale. the soul of the club is the same, no matter who`s name is on the headed notepaper. makes no difference to me, i`m a fan not an accountant.
