  1. Did anyone notice the kit that we were wearing on Wednesday afternoon(Malaysia Night) it looked like the d1 kit with the Nationwide sticker''s on em. Surely they had enough supply of the new version with the 1st division champions 2003-04 were enough in supply or some could of been delivered out there. It looked strange them playing in the Nationwide kit when we are premier league and could have had kits with the Premier league symbol to boost our profile in the Far East.
  2. I remember that centenary game where he came and watched and remember him sitting right next to the dug-out and when being paraded before the game, although he was quite fragile and legs not to good, he still managed to walk quite well unaided and without sticks. Does anyone think if we might have a minute silence before the start of the 1st home game even though it will be getting on for 2 months since he died.
  3. I remember that and it weren''t bad. Ricky Tomlinson who I personally think is brilliant was quite good in the role and brought that comedy aspect and funny side of it to the film. One thing that went against him if I remember hearing correctly is that he refused to come to Norfolk and they scene of the victory parade was actually done in St Albans or somewhere like that. On the night of our parade I kept laughing a few times and remembering that bit of the parade in the film when the driver took a wrong turn and could only get onto the dual carrigeway ( which was doubling up as the A11) and Bassett (Tomlinson) in his scouser voice shouting something similar to "you''ve gone the wrong ******* way" and they had to go miles down the dual carrigeway before they could possibly turn round. Imagine if that would of have happened on our victory parade night.
  4. I know what I''m about to say has got nothing to do with the shirt spotting but on Sky Sports News yesterday they do a piece from the centre of Lisbon to do with that St George Flag sponsored by Nationwide were they allowed famous faces and past England Footballers like the Charltons, Lineker, Beardsley, Hurst etc and casual members of the Enlgish public to sign their name and put a special message for the boys on it ( and it was believed even a few of the locals added something and the flag will be dispalyed from one of the stands for the game). By the time the live report came out yesterday there was practically no space on the white and people were having to write on the Red cross of St George. Anyway my point is that from one of the shots of the flag in the bottom right hand side of the flag which was obviously the white bit, quite a few Norwich fans had written soemthing and displayed clearly there Name, NCFC or even the badge and also were they were from which were all Norfolk towns or Norwich so in the end as well they didn''t get confused with Notts County. The chap who was in charge of the flag said something as well which I can''t entirley fully remember but he said something about those who''d contributed to the flag from fans of clubs or something like that, and quite clearly Norwich were one of the main clubs from what he said when he gave a few examples of club and their fans who''d contributed.
  5. I have a few claims to fame. When I was 5 (12 years ago) I appeared in the EDP because they were doing an article on a school Easter Egg competitions at my school and I was standing on the front row with a few fellow class mates and my teacher behind us and we were all proudly displaying the eggs. I was on Anglia once when I was 10 and at Middle School when they used to do that "School of the day" thing and they came to my school because we were learning about the Tudors and on that day we had to dress up in Tudor type costumes and a chap like a story teller had come and Anglia wanted to do a piece on it for that SOTD. I was caught because the company who''d come to teach us more about them picked me after I answered a question wrong when asked at random and put me in stock type things with my feet trapped and I couldn''t make big movements like to escape or the person behind me would hit with this light stick. I was also caught on Look East once because down my street they were doing a piece about these dead bugs, cockroaches and birds that got stuck up people''s chimney''s and they caught a shot of me just casually walking down the street. For football on the night of promotion this year, there was a sky cameraman and camera standing just in front of the City Stand and he did the shot where he walked along sideways getting shot of the crowd in the Stand and he passed me who was being a idiot and doing a cheesy grin and thumbs up which looked a big like Mr Bean whilst many people were doing the happy clenched fist thing, jumping up and down, smiling or singing etc. Like most people I stayed up late and I didn''t get to sleep until after 2 and I caught myself at around 1am or so on Sky Sports News when they showed the camera going the length of the fans in the City Stand although earlier when they showed pictures of the fans in earlier reports they didn''t get further than the bench.
  6. Well said and a great argument about it. On sky sports news yesterday, they were doing a piece on how these flags are selling like mad and how once they arrived in the country from the Far East they sold immeadiately and they asked 4 fans what they thought about those flags and one bloke said your much not of a fan if you display these things and a simple shirt and scarf is the best way to display these things. Given that a flag of St George displays England more than the shirt or scarf I can''t see where exactly the argument goes on that front and even buying a simple flag of St George rather than a Shirt and Scarf is much cheaper and show''s more like patritism because it can represent anyting to do with England. I will admit that when God Save The Queen is played to do with anything England/ Britain then I sing with pride like many people and if there are any important events which involves England/ Britain then I will proudly wave my flag of St George or Union Jack.
  7. I was talking to someone the other day about this and what does everyone think about this. Would anyone like to see them because many teams have them and if were entering the Premiership it would be nice to give the stadium a bit more balance to it with these because the 2 other teams West Brom and Crystal Palace who we''re promoted with have their own ones and we may be a bit left out. I don''t think there that expensive are they? I guess if you had two of them they could go on top of the 2 ends or you could have them in one corner between the Jarrold and Barclay stands. I do think they would look nice in the stadium and make it quite good because for somewhere like Highbury which is quite old, the screens do make the place look a little modern and teams like spurs have them well integrated into the stadium. If we were to have them lets hope they were to show the FOOTBALL MATCH and not have these ones were at some stadiums just show adverts throughout the game and only show match action with big moments or goal replays. I remember at Southampton they had a lots of adverts on and am told at Bolton advertising is mainly on them. Whats everyone think?
  8. I went on the Football Ground Guide yesterday like normal to start looking at what grounds we can expect to visit enjoyfully this season with top facilities rather than poor grounds and some teams we''ve visited in D1 like Port Vale, Grimsby, Rotherham etc (saying that makes me feel like no doubt like everyone excited) and their under the section of Premier League and just below Newcastle United was the name NORWICH CITY. Also on Sky Sports News during the adverts they''ve been advertising the deal for Premiership Plus of 50 games for £50 and the name of each team came up each in capitals one at a time and Norwich like the other 19 teams came up and did it get me excited or what. Only days 73 to go.
  9. Amazingly, today I''ve also been Reading that preview aswell but Rob Butcher has certainly got a pretty good Crystal ball. The prediction from him for the top 3 at the end of the season was Norwich, West Brom and Sheffield United. Yes ok he got the 3rd place prediction wrong but certainly was spot-on with the top 2 and in the right order.
  10. I did ask that the other day and there wasn''t many answers but I guess people are still thinking up something. This is pretty lame and a bit original but along with Yellow and Green City shirt I may wear my Australian cork hat that my sister brought me after a special request for one from Down Under. It''s in Navy Blue and has the corks but if you consider that the main Australian colours are yellow/Gold and green it does I guess have a bit of a theme for Norwich. I remember when we went to Barnsley you had the usual beach balls and beach things etc and people also dressed in Hawaiian things and I noticed quite a few people wearing White Cricket clothing which looked quite good because we were in Yorkshire. I don''t think Cheshire has much of a theme to it though so it.
  11. Swindon Town (H) August 96 where I was a just under a month from my 10th Birthday. That was the game which if anyone remembers had to be slightly delayed because the club let off a load of ballons before the game to celebrate the 1st game of the new season and a lot of them ended up on the pitch so many people from the South Stand family enclosure were allowed on to the pitch to burst them. I sat in the River End and we won 2-0 with goals from Flecky and Andy Johsnon which now seems donkeys years ago. I had supported City from a young age and my Mum took me to the match and we got hooked and at that Christmas we did the old half season ticket then every season since have had a full one. My mum took me because my Dad died the previous month and with him not around she wanted something to do on Saturday''s because when he was alive they or the four of us ( my older sister aswell until she she moved out that May ) were always going out or being somewhere so we went and for a lot of Saturdays and evenings since we been watching Norwich and now we are Premier league.
  12. Now this may of been said loads of times and I may not of been paying attention or this might not even been mentioned but is there going to be a special theme (e.g fancy dress etc) for the match at Crewe on the final day. Is just that of course it''s the final away match of the season and usually there''s a special theme for the party and was wondering if there would be one this year. Of course we will be commanding 2 stands at Crewe so unlike previously were it was practically 1 section we all won''t be entirely together so can''t enjoy it together but I guess both sets of us yellows in the 2 stands will overcome this problem.
  13. Got 3 tickets on Tuesday and Me, mum and her Partner are going. Looking forward to it massively. One thing I''m going to notice is going to Crewe for our final match this season and the 2nd flight for at least 1 year and with no disrepect to Crewe you''ll have Gresty Road to end this season and next season we''ll be going to places like Old Trafford, Highbury, Stamford Bridge, Anfield, St James''s Park etc so it will be a strange day.
  14. The away kit was also compulsory for Bradford away (AMBER + claret Stripes) and Watford (Yellow). Many teams with common colours go to other grounds sometimes even if there was no need to change the colours and wear a different kit perhaps due to sponsorship or washing purposes provided it doesn''t . Many teams due to common colours have 3 kits which is understandable. E.g Man Utd, red Home kit, white 2nd kit and if they go to an away game where the home team wear red + white stripes, hoop, halves etc (e.g. Southampton) then a 3rd kit is required. If you notice somes team who wear stripes and lets take southampton for example. Red and white striped home kit then if they go away and the home team wears red or claret then they can wear a white and red away kit because they''ve delcared that the their home kit is red so can wear a white with red away kit, but if they go to an away ground where the opposition wears white or stripes that contain white (e.g. Newcastle) or (e.g Tottenham) then they wear there 3rd kit of Yellow and Blue. Obviously with Norwich wearing yellow and green and this not be common colours then really only 1 away kit is required. One thing I laughed about is that at the Derby away game it was all Green because the Notts Forest Home game was only 2 days earlier so they wouldn''t have to wash the kit and preparing for the Derby County game could be quicker in a short time.
  15. I have an Idea of a song. It''s pretty poor but just see what it is. I''ve only managed to think the 1st 2 verses. To the tune of Sweet Chariot. Swing Low, Sweet Norwich City, Coming for to carry me home, Premier, Premiership, Coming for to carry me home. As I flew over Norwich what did I see, Man Utd, Chelsea and the Rest, Premier, Premiership, Coming for to carry me home (back to 1st verse) Pretty poor I know but I''ve had a try.
  16. Look on the footballgroundguide.co.uk website and it will have a section called "what''s it like for visitng supporters" and the general information about the usual allocation amounts and if these can be increased or decreased when applicable.
  17. Well as everyone know''s I also like the F1 even though and it isn''t his fault Michael Schumacher wins a lot. I''ve been to 4 consecutive British Grand Prix. 99- Very hot and the race where Mr Schumacher had a bad crash and broke his leg. Coulthard and Irvine were 1st and 2nd so a British 1-2. 2000- Hosting a grand prix in the UK in April (the 23rd which also coincided with Easter Sunday and those who notice St George''s Day) is the worst thing anyone in the sport could ever have done. Got stuck in traffic from 6am with around 6 or 7 miles to go and ended up in a muddy field at around quarter past 12 with only 45 minutes to the race found somewhere to stand because those lucky bu**ars fortunate to get in early had gotting the seating areas, watched the F1 race ( again a British winner in Mr Coulthard), then watched a race of historic cars then left at half 3. No chance to look at the merchandise shops or much else. For something were you should be there from around 6 till 7 in the morning till 4 or 5 in the afternoon to have a good day out that day represented a waste of money. 2001- Murray Walkers final commentating British GB and everyone of the organizers and British press were doing there best to make sure he had a memorable time and was sent from his final home race on a high. Great day as well. Racing though wasn''t really exciting with Hakkinen the winner after Schumacher wasn''t really bothered and just drove for 2nd place whilst Hakkinen really went unchallenged. 2002- At last for a British GP I was at, it RAINED. All 3 of the previous ones I just hoped it would rain during the race and so it did but it was more of a stop start but that was good enough for me. What with Ferrari winning 15 of the 17 races that year GB was also one of them with a 1-2 but the rain and some drivers struggling in tricky conditions when it happened and a Brilliant Drive from Barrichello from the back of the grid after problems on the formation lap was brilliant. Pity I missed last years one with non stop overtaking and the mad Irish chap running onto the track and nearly getting killed but these thing happen. The circuit may be old and facilites poor but can be a could day out to see if these Drivers have been described correctly as the best 20 or so in the world.
  18. In the summer with no national football everyone. Well it''s Euro 2004 this year of Course and what wil Svens men do and/or will you be watching Wimbledon and getting annoyed that for another the winner(s) will not be British. British Grand Prix in July and lets hope Mr Schumacher won''t be within touching distance of the title, or will you take up the true best think and go and play a spot of the old golf on the fairways. Is everyone here gonna still be posting on here normally becuase I imagine when the fixtures come out or if we sign someone were all want to discuss it.
  19. I just heard that he has been sacked from his job at Newcastle United in Australia though. He may be English but from what I''ve heard he''s enjoying it out there and would he want to come home. My big sis is out there at the moment and is really enjoying it. Landed in Sydney Saturday Night our time and has been to Bondoi beach and seen Sydney Harbour bridge and opera house. Now in Adelaide and the other night there time fed Crocodiles, cuddled a kangaroo and saw koalas. Lucky for some in it.
  20. The Evening News''s Canary preview of the 2003/04 season has images of the stand with the corner infill as well as the stand from inside the stadium and has a image of the stand without the infill because when it was produced the club announced that due to finances the corner couldn''t go ahead but had both images. If you go on the canary website then go to club, The New Stand and then executive facilities (and yes the site is very old because there''s no news of the corner and it show the original drawings of the stand) then there is a small image of the stand with the corner. Also at the opening day last year the club showed oimages on computer and drawings showing the stand and corner because then of course the corner was going ahead. Also when we were invited to view the South Stand the Sunday before West Ham, in the concourse of around block M or N there were catalogue type thing showing the stand and what they may do if the corner (which is now going ahead) would look like intergrated into the stand.
  21. Forgetting Brennan obviously because that was a time waster but Canary Boy isn''t there someone you''ve forgotten?
  22. Yes it was. The roar after the goal was really loud and brilliant and after the game clapping the players and singing it was really buzzing and noisy and even when everyone left the seated areas through to the concourse it was electric and there was quite a lot of noise outside the stadium from us aswell. During the game it was good and even in the concourse pre-match it felt fantastic. The roar when everyone was crowding around the tv''s which had Sky Sports 1 updates on when the message on the update bar at the bottom of the screen read " FT Ipswich Town 1-0 Sunderland" was so loud although hopefully we won''t have to do that again in a hurry but preferably never again . I did encounter a funny chap near the front( about 3-4 rows in front of me) just to the right of the goal (left on telly) who just didn''t want anyone to stop singing and himself even if you did need a quick breather. This chap must have at quite a bit to drink but thank god because he was hilarious (I like people with senses of humour) although he did look a bit like one of the characters from Harry Enfields show but that didn''t matter. He got everyone going again and again a few times and he even sang some strange songs originally solo towards the nearby Reading fans which where quite funny and then fellow Norwich picked up on this and joined him in . A great East bank Holiday. Come on you yellows.
  23. Allright JF, hope the journey to Reading was ok. Jeffers is an interesting one but do you think that he could fit in well to the Norwich squad because he does have a little reputation. He didn''t really do anything spectacular with Everton and only being 8th in the Highbury Striker list say''s there must be a big reason, but as you say you never know and he could do a job if we go up and tried to get him.
  24. Hopefully with the weather being good, I''m going to Colney tomorrow with a couple of people I know and will be cycling from Attleborough via Wymondham and Hethersett which is about 10 miles.I''ve done this twice before although alone but when I went the last time which was only about 6 weeks ago I got their at about 2pm and what happened, they''ed gone. The problem is does anyone know if there are any places to put bikes because looking at the training ground there doesn''t seem anywhere but this is a need for me and the people I''m going with to put them somewhere and hopefully they''ll be safe whilst we watch training.
  25. Captain Canary but only just for me. He does keep the young kids happy and for the other supporters does entertain many of us particularly when he goes to away games always dancing to songs which are good enough when at away games and always orchetstrates the fans when singing club songs (e.g. OTBC). The best memory of him has to be of that day at Barnsley 2 years walking over to us wearing surfing shorts and with a surfboard trying out the cool look and getting in the mood for the big party. One groan is that I hope he doesn''t wear the Lotus Green shirt again because the shirt on him being yellow can look a bit ''cordon bleugh''. Splat the Cat is also a good mascot like his little antics before the game and does do good cart wheels but because he''s associated with N+P he''s not officially ours although he is pretty good.
