  1. Bl00dy good article LDC. And the 3 sentences I have borrowed from your article sums it up nicely. The "Dortmund" way works as has been proven by 2 managers at CR - but it fails when you have big egotists. The difference between DF and PL at AV is that DF publicly stamped down on the ego that was likely to disrupt his approach - and even despite the vocalists saying that we couldn't afford to play without NO (and Nelson probably believed all the hype about his supposed indispensability). That put down a definitive marker to any other player who may have tried to call his bluff - basically, it was no bluff! (with the net result being that he was virtually ostracised.)
  2. I think HHS has hit the nail firmly on the head. W&F have proven themselves in the recruitment market, and if their opinion is that JR is worth taking a punt on then I would firmly endorse their decision. The fact that he was a good man to have around for team morale etc etc is a credit to him. However, W&F have shown (as in the case of Ivo Pinto) that sentimentality is not one of their determining attributes! So, whilst I hope he is here next season, I have no doubt that W&F will make the right choice for NCFCπŸ₯‡
  3. CHEESEBOARD!!! πŸ§€ Now that we are in the Premier League, we need to ensure that we resurrect the CHEESEBOARD at as many games as possible - if nothing else, it will confuse the bejasus out of the opposition supporters and players! It also gives some of the new forum posters the opportunity to question why they have actually joined this forum πŸ™„
  4. .....and don't for get to bring your yellow CHEESEBOARDS along with your yellow foam hands for the QPR & Reading games πŸ€£πŸ‘
  5. Totally agree with this. The men in white coats would be on red alert if anyone suggested at the start of the season that we would be anywhere near where we are now. Remember what Webber and Farke have said - that this was a long term project and for it to happen so quickly is a pleasant surprise - and it may be a bit too early. But who at the beginning of the season wouldn't have bitten your hand off if you offered just one season in the prem? If we get there a bit early with the full plan still to emerge, then hopping between the 2 leagues for the next couple of seasons seems a small price to pay. Anyway, who says we're not good enough to stay in the prem? And who's ambition is it to only finish 17th in the prem? I believe that we can achieve much better than that and should be aiming to do so - like maybe aiming to be a top 8 team! Now there's a scary challenge πŸ€ͺ
  6. Well he's right in one respect - the supporters at his current club are NOT normal. Delusional - maybe, fixated in the past - possibly, obsessed by their own self importance - probably, but not normal is also abnormal - definitely!
  7. Thanks to Feedthewolf for bumping this thread again. Not only is it something close to my heart - CHEESEBOARD - but it shows just how this board has developed over the last 15 years. What started off - CHEESEBOARD - as an innocent and amusing post has unwittingly given us an historic account of the trials and tribulations of being a NCFC supporter over the last 15 years - CHEESEBOARD! So I say, resurrect the CHEESEBOARD and blow raspberries at the party poopers and naysayers! We salute you CHEESEBOARD and hope that your cheeselets reintroduce you to the good ole times! One final word before I leave .......CHEEEEEESEBOAAAARRRRD!
  8. I don't recall winning promotion at home (we were almost over the line with a 1-0 home win over Swindon in April 1972). However, I do remember that we won promotion and the Championship in successive away games - promotion to the 1st Division in 1972 following the Swindon home win - a 2-1 win in a Monday night game at Orient and then won the Championship 5 days later on the Saturday with a 1-1 draw at Watford (and I was there!). What memories - being in the Army as a Norwich supporter, surrounded by Leeds, Liverpool & Man U fans was one of the few highlights of my military career!
  9. Thanks all - just read from Dave Freezer and Steve Downes articles that it was 10 games - in 1986. As Feedthewolf says we are in an excellent place to either match or beat that record. What a wonderful place to be in - there's so much love in and around the club with the fans, between the players and the management as well as the board - after all the years of negativity, it's wonderful that this is happening to our beloved Norwich - long may it continue.
  10. Seeing as we are now on a run of 7 consecutive wins, does anyone know what the record is for our longest winning streak?
  11. I see that they are both on 9 yellow cards - with 10 being an automatic 2 game suspension. Does anyone know when the card count is reset? I read somewhere that it was on the 2nd Sunday in April??
  12. Opportunity to vote for Max as young player of the year here :https://eflypots.easports.com/
  13. What I love is the goalkeepers (Archer?) reaction after Pukki bamboozled him. Smacking the ground about 3 times from a prostrate position - that's when you know who's the daddy .... πŸ•Ί
  14. Seeing how they have been playing, I thought that they had already started throwing.........
  15. Purely as a matter of academic interest, does anyone know what has happened to the OP?
  16. That'll be when hell freezes over! Some of the ranting keyboard warriors on here need to take a deep breath before blasting away. Some of the twaddle that was spouted - some by people giving the appearance of a very authoritative rationale - is toe-curlingly embarrassing. What was it someone posted in response to the op statement "there's 3 main problems at Norwich City": Some combination of Delia, the board, DF and SW! Since August of last year when this post was introduced - there were predictions of slipping into League 1, fighting at the bottom end of the league etc etc. What has ACTUALLY happened in the league since then - we've lost 3 games, drawn 8 games and won 18 games - amassing some 62 points, scoring 60 goals and conceding 33. For sheer entertainment value, that is an average of 3 goals a game (and averaging more than 2 points a game). No wonder we are top of the league (at the time of typing). Now I could be wrong, but I somehow can't see some of the more obdurate posters, especially those that religiously keep campaigning for S&J to leave, coming back to this post and, as Duncan says, "holds their hands up". ... and, Kudos to those whose posts kept the faith in the DF/SW project. πŸ‘
  17. Just having seen the photo of Ben celebrating his goal with Jamal in the EDP - If that's what he looks like when he's celebrating a goal, imagine what he looks like to the opposition when he's not happy! Enough to scare the living daylights out you - I don't expect opposition players are queuing up to man mark him!
  18. Sensational headlines - Bryan Gunn banned for 6 months for speeding. Here was me thinking maybe he was doing 100+ on the motorway or maybe 10 or 20 mph above the limit. But no - just after midnight he was clocked doing 38 in a 30 zone and then at lunchtime was pulled up for doing 35 in a 30 zone! (what happened to the 10% + 2 mph guidelines?). Finally he was done for speeding at 59 mph in a 50 mph zone on the M6. I don't condone speeding in built up areas or even where workmen are being employed on road repairs on a motorway. HOWEVER, a certain amount of common sense needs to be applied. He drives tens of thousands of miles a year for his job and this is the sum total of his offences. By all means levy a hefty fine and make him go on a speed awareness course, but 6 months ban??? My gut feel is that the magistrates were being particularly anally retentive - especially given that his job depends on his ability to drive as well as supervising other scouts. Obviously not helped by the prosecutor referring to him as a "totter" having racked up 9 points in 2017. Almost feels like some people "had it in" for him. Very sad. 🀒
  19. All I can hope for out of the 1p5wich debacle at Carrow Road is that the (PL) Lambs don't let Derby's Rams batter them on Wednesday night - they could after all be helping us whilst trying to help themselves. 😜😜🀣
  20. After the buzz of playing that lot DOWN the road, (and the euphoria of the Leeds game, hot on the heels of the Sheff U game as well as the test against WBA away with a win over rapidly improving B'ham thrown in the middle of that lot), it will require the highest powers of motivation in Farke's armoury to eliminate any anticlimactic tendencies for our next 2 opponents. The concern is that there might be a tendency to "relax" for the next 2 games as, with all due respects to them, Preston and Bolton are hardly the most glamorous opponents - not after the roller coaster ride we have had from the last 10 league games (all of whom have either been in the top half or play off positions). Hope I'm wrong and hope that Farke's motivational skills can soothe this furrowed brow. πŸ™πŸ˜Ÿ
  21. Red cards for management has not been very well explained by the FA. However, according to the EADT: "Lambert’s red card does not carry any added punishment in itself and he does not automatically face a touchline ban, with any action against the Ipswich Town boss needing to come retrospectively." Not that that helps very much except that it appears that any touchline ban is not automatic and any further punishment is up to the discretion of the FA. Seems a bit doolally to me - a red card should have the same effect for the bench management as it does to players! But that's probably too simple for the FA to contemplate!
  22. According to Sky news, the FA are now reviewing the referees report. Maybe Domagalla's card is rescinded and Lambert faces a 6 match ban
  23. Hi Pete, I couldn't find that fixture list - any chance of pointing me in it's direction? (Sorry, don't know how to make this a PM)
