  1. It would be so much simpler if we reverted back to the basic Offside is Offside - that then cuts out any interpretation of Interfering with play or affecting the outcome. Unfortunately that means that Cantwell's goal would be ruled out for offside but would also mean that Everton's goal wouldn't stand. However, it also means that we reduce the number of times needed by VAR to get out the microscope!
  2. Sorry shefcanary, I didn't see your comment before I started a new post - "Still little old Norwich" - picking up precisely on what you were saying about Lianne Sanderson's blurb and the way to use it to our advantage.
  3. Amazing how Sky pundits still consider us without much credibility. Today, Lianne Sanderson had the gall to say on Sky that Newcastle, should be beating the likes of Norwich and despite Brentford's loss to Spurs last night, she doesn't consider Brentford to be a relegation candidate, unlike the Norwich's of the world - caveating that with "no disrespect to Norwich"! However, we can use those stereo-typical type of observations to stay under the radar, by picking up points gradually, draw with the more fancied teams, and the odd "heroic" efforts at home then we should achieve a "top 17" finish 👍
  4. I knew this feel good factor couldn't last for ever, but this is a particularly nasty blow to the "you know whats". 👀
  5. Cannonball for a football - luxury! We used to dream about pitches made of broken glass bottles! Footballers today don't know how hard it was - and we paid for the privilege! And as for uphill pitches, Ron Saunders exercising the team up Mousehold Heath is enough to make one reconsider their career choice! So, whilst accepting that Kevin Keelan was actually the GOAT, I think the question should be around who can hold a candle to him! Also, please remember the KK was one of the original contributors to the famous Canaries song 🎶 and that alone puts him on a different level!
  6. ....and Pete's assertion has been confirmed in the Guardian and the Sun 👏👏
  7. Interesting post and a fairly accurate assessment. However, I don't think our model is all gloom and doom - we've pretty much always had a self funding model. Now that our once precarious financial position has been brought under control, I don't see why we cannot emulate a Leicester or a Wolves of the world. As for the Brightons and Crystal Palaces of the world they will typically have survival as their over-riding priority. I can see that bottom tier probably being on par with the top tier for excitement and will probably contain around a dozen teams. The middle tier will be so boring!
  8. Would certainly show our credentials in Woke world (whatever that means)
  9. Just because there was contact, that's no excuse to give a penalty - it has to be a foul to get a penalty awarded. If penalties are given for "contact", then every corner would be rife with penalty claims!
  10. Having read Ricardo's report, actually yes, as his opinion over the years has been fair and insightful without any histrionics. So a fair reflection from one attendee vs the ramblings of those paid to be contentious. Also, disappointed with Sue Smith. Initially she reported that it didn't look like a penalty but after Stelling's rantings, she saw which side her bread was buttered on and changed her tune in the summary after the game.
  11. Just finished watching the Brentford Chelsea game and wow - Chelsea were hanging on by their fingernails and Brentford looked like they were an established premier league club. Something our chaps should take note of - full on attack! As for Chelsea, they seemed delighted to hang on to that 1-0 scoreline, so with our attack force, there's plenty to look forward to next weekend - 🤪
  12. I have read many posts on here (and elsewhere) and they mainly seem to be of the doom and gloom variety. As I didn't attend today's match, I'm waiting for the authoritative report from Ricardo before I add my tuppence worth. What I will say however, is that the "mob" with Jeff Stelling and including have become poor value for the amount one spends on the subscription fees. They appeared as arrogant know-it-alls even before kick off, all saying that Gilmour should never have come to us - and the worst culprit was that failed ex Spurs manager, Tim Sherwood, who seems to forget that Norwich gave him his chance of getting into the "big time" clubs (are the likes of him and Andy Townsend trying to erase their Carrow Road tenure from their CV's?).
  13. Not only the Peter Crouch article but also echoed by Iwan Roberts - if the players don't carry out their responsibilities, then how can you blame the manager. Having said that, the manager will have to do some serious player rotation so that those players get the message. What is interesting is that all those players who might have been "using" Norwich to attract interest from "bigger" clubs have effectively shot their bolt!
  14. I don't think the problem is DF - it's the players. Absolutely shocking performance in front of their home crowd and Sky viewing public. They just don't seem to have the testicular fortitude to go against the big boys. Even the roar of the crowd at tonights game would make one think they were playing at Anfield. The squad needs to have a long good hard look at themselves and ask are they giving their best and are they good value for money. I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt but tonight showed I was mistaken! And as for the goal threat - unfortunately we don't have one!
  15. AJ, watching the highlights on MoTD, it appeared that we did play all 10 outfield players at the back and that still wasn't enough! (I think the experiment of packing the back with all the team instead of getting proper defensive reinforcements is successful!!) Also, if those were the highlights of the match, then without wishing to cast aspersions, we must have been absolutely dire, because they only showed one instance of Norwich in possession and that was just after their 3rd goal,
  16. Everyone agrees with you including DF - except Paddy - here is an excerpt of what he said: "Plus those defensive concerns around Dimi Giannoulis persist, for all his attacking thrust. As Farke said on Friday, there is work still to do." Was Paddy actually at the match or was he using some sort of wordsmithing software that developed a virus?
  17. It's not the defeat that makes people suicidal - it's the manner of the defeat!
  18. Totally agree with your comment about Alan Smith - I had to keep pressing the mute button whenever he was spouting his rubbish
  19. I can't put my finger on it, but there's something wrong with the approach of our team today. For example, the corner for the 3rd goal we did NOT have any outlet if we were able to clear it - all 11 players were in the box! Whenever we had the ball, our first priority was to pass it backwards! It almost seemed as if the team were overawed by the occasion. On the positive side, it was such an abysmal performance, that it's unlikely that anyone will now be coming for Aarons or Cantwell - they had the opportunity to showcase themselves on the world stage and they failed spectacularly! Almost seemed like Norwich wanted to carry on from where they left off last time we were in the Prem! Farke has got a MEGA task ahead of him!!
  20. With all due respects, Arsenal were bullied out of that. I watched Janssen purposely stride into the goalmouth in front of the goalie with the express intention of blocking him, ending up with pinning his arms behind him. Unfortunately, we will NOT get that level of leniency or generosity from the PL refs - history has proved that 😬
