Apologies if these have already been put up by anyone else. Not the best highlights, but the only site I''ve managed to find so far showing them. Two excellent goals. Should''ve been a hattrick though with the 1v1 he ought to have put away at the start! :-p

Can''t wait to see him in action with us. Fingers crossed for a successful 2013/14 campaign!

2. I know for a fact that one or two players were certainly a little frustrated with Lambert and his reluctance to explain to certain players why he was leaving them out of the side despite them performing well. This definitely put some of their backs up a bit and as said already, perhaps they''re now glad to have a clean slate and show their worth to whoever takes the job on.

3. Despite his advancing years, Premier League proven goalscorers come at a premium, especially English ones!
He still has a couple of good years left in him if he keeps himself in shape. If he doesn''t want to stay here and no improved offer is made, then sell him . . . But NOT at £4 Million!! No Way!!
£6 million I think is more of a fair amount, and perhaps McNally could negotiate some add-ons to bump that up a bit after certain amount of league apps/goals etc. Still think we should wait on making a decision until a new manager is installed, that way Holt will find out what his future could be here before making a decision either way.

4. I did bring this up well over a week or so ago. Everybody was pretty dismissive of me and what I''d found out at the time. Fair enough I  suppose, but maybe now it''s all starting to come to the fore a little bit. I for one hope it''s not as I was told, but everything seems to be pointing to it being the case.

5. Alan Curbishly no contest. He''s my number 1 choice for the job.
He''s got all the credentials, plenty of experience and success at this level. He won''t cost any compensation and could really help stabilise the club at this level.
And besides, I don''t think his style of football was particularly negative. Calculated I''d say. Not as expansive as Lambert, but certainly knew how to create a solid, confident team who could certainly knock the ball about. He''s no long ball merchant. Turned West Ham around and had them playing well when he took over them. Would be perfect for this job methinks.

6.
I think for a club like Norwich (only team to field 11 British players last season) a British manager would be a must- just to keep that communication and moral up without a language barrier... Id hate to see some big foreign guy come in who no one can understand... how would he understand Holt for example? I imagine Lambert struggled at times :-P
Spot on!!
I was trying to think of a way of writing something similar in my post but didn''t want to sound racist. This is exactly the problem that someone like Benitez would cause. The last thing we need is a foreign manager coming in and disrupting the harmony amongst the squad with loads of foreign imports. I''m proud of the fact that our team is mostly British and it can only be good for the English game if more teams followed the example we set throughout the football leagues. Doubt that will ever happen though, especially not in the Premier League.

7.
Francesco Volpe, there are dozens of managers with Premier League experience around who don''t currently have a job in football.

Alan Curbishley? Rafa Benitez? Soon to be Di Matteo?
Yeah I get what you are saying, but do you honestly think we could attract or even afford someone like Benitez? Unrealistic in my opinion and to be honest I''d rather Curbishly over him anyway. With regards to Di Matteo, I wouldn''t be disappointed if we got him, but I don''t think he''s all that he''s cracked up to be. Fair play he won the Fa Cup and CL with Chelsea, but to be fair a club with the squad and talent they have they should be winning such tournaments. I wasn''t impressed with anything else he''s done in his managerial career. Didn''t exactly set the world alight when he got his chance with West Brom. Besides, he may still end up remaining at Chelsea. Who knows what will happen with him.

8. Oh FFS this is all getting ridiculous. So who do

you all expect us to sign then?

     Guardiola? Benitez? Capello? Mourinho?

Get real!! None of those will come

here. We don''t have the financial clout to afford them and they certainly

wouldn''t come in and take a job on when their funds are very limited for the

foreseeable future at least.

The only realistic targets for us are perhaps

the best of the Championship and maybe one or two from the continent. Get it

out of your heads that we can attract bigger than the likes of Hughton, Clark,

Mackay etc. None of the current Premier League managers will be coming here I

think that would be extremely unlikely too.

If you have any realistic, better

suggestions than those ones being bandied around then feel free to shout up.

But don''t slate the likes of Poyet, Hughton et all because that''s what we''ll be

aiming at. If the Swans think they can attract better then they''re living on a

different planet too, they''re not so dissimilar from us.

For me the best manager available that we could

realistically get is Alan Curbishly, as I mentioned on another thread. There''s

not many managers out there with the premiership experience that he''s got who

will be as readily abvailable. The only others are from the Championship such

as the aforementioned Hughton, McCarthy, Bruce. Out of those the only one I''d

touch is Hughton.  I doubt Coyle would go anywhere at the moment, Kean another I wouldn''t touch. After that you''re then looking at promising managers in the

Championship. So what else are you left with? Best of the rest for me are

Poyet and Malky.

Just my own opinion, but at least it''s

a realistic opinion, unlike some on here.

11. Alan Curbishly all day long for me. Did an outstanding job for Charlton a few years back which we all know about.
He also did a super job at West Ham to take them from the brink of relegation and keeping them up, to then get them up into the top half the following season playing good football too. Left West Ham because of interference from the owners in selling players that he wanted to keep. Not to mention he was also touted as possible new England manager before Capello was appointed.
I think he''d do a great job in stabilising us in the top flight and helping us to push on. He''s had some time out and hopefully is ready for a fresh challenge. Make it happen McNally!! Although by the sound of what Sky Sports are saying live as I type, it seems that Malky is the man that the board want. Who knows . . . we shall find out in due course.

12. Like I said Morty, he''s not my number 1 choice either, but I could certainly live with his appointment.

Ok so who would your top 5 shortlist to replace Lambert be? In fact that''s a general question. Who would you all have on your list to succeed him? Number 1 being your preferred choice, working your way down.

My top 5 would be:

1. Alan Curbishly

2. Chris Hughton

3. Lee Clark

4. Gus Poyet

5. Malky Mackay/Ian Culverhouse

Undecided on who I''d prefer out of the last 2. Cully would be an unknown quantity as manager, but at least he would know the current crop of players and has worked with them for the past 3 seasons and has arguably played just as big a part in what has happened here over that time as has Lambert. I think he would be unlikely though and will probably follow PL to Villa if he does go.

13. Cantiaci . . . Criticising Malky for not getting Cardiff into the Playoff Final is very harsh. In my opinion he done a great job of achieving a play-off spot in what was arguably one of the most competitive CCC seasons we''ve seen. So many good sides in there that it was hard to predict who would be up there. West Ham were always favourites in the Play-Offs and it''s no disgrace that they lost out to them in the semi''s.

I think a few are also forgetting that he has had to do a bit of rebuilding there as they did lose some of their key players at the end of last season. The likes of Bothroyd, Bellamy and Chopra all going left them with a somewhat toothless attack. So to get the results he did was a good achievement I''d say.

By the way, I''m not for one minute suggesting that he''d be my number one choice, as he isn''t. But I do think if given the chance he could do quite well for us. He''s no Paul Lambert . . . but we could do a hell of a lot worse. I''d take Malky over Steve Bruce, Mick McCarthy or Steve Kean any day of the week!

14. As much as there are concerns over whether he''s good enough to step up to the plate, I have every faith in McNally finding the right man for the job. If he believes that Malky is the best man for it, then he''ll have my full support, and I have no doubts that if he was to come here, you''d all give your full support too.

At least Malky''s previous links with the Club might mean he holds more of an affinity towards us and would be less likely to jump ship the minute someone else comes sniffing around for him.

15. According to Sky Sports reports, he hasn''t actually resigned.

It does seem that McNally has perhaps gone in with a very stubborn stance, which has backfired on him. It may well have turned PL against him and could mean that he will be more likely to accept the job at Villa as a result. I truly hope this won''t be the case, but it''s not looking great at the minute.

I only wish the board would have made more funds available for PL to spend, as this is apparently the cause of things turning sour in the first place. I appreciate that the debts need to be paid off and the club want to get this done as soon as possible, but surely they can afford to keep some of that debt repayment money and put it into the manager''s funds. Even an extra £5million might have made the difference. After all, with the parachute payments over the next 3 years even if the worst was to happen at the end of next season, we would surely be able to see off the last few million of the debt with ease this time next year? I don''t know the ins and outs, Purple Canary has more of an insight, but as far as I''m aware I don''t believe the Club are under any duress to pay it all off by the end of 2012/13 season are they?

16. Sky Sports now reporting that he hasn''t resigned. There was a row with the board but the stories of him resigning over it are untrue. Now there''s a surprise, The Sun adding up 2 and 2 to make 50.

I''m at the point now where I don''t really care any more whether he stays or goes. I just want it sorted out quickly so that the Club can get itself in order and things can be set straight before the start of the new season. Don''t get me wrong, I''d love nothing more than Lambert to stay, but if there''s even a small waver in his commitment to the Club then it''s best he packs his bags and allows a fresh face to come in and give it 110%. If he goes, then a big thank you for turning us around and for the fantastic memories over the past 3 years and good luck with your next challenge.

17. Something I''ve seen done on numerous occasions in Italy during the pre-season mini tournaments are the 7-second shoot-outs.

For anyone that hasn''t heard of them before, it works similar to penalties. Each team has 5 each, then sudden death if level after the first 10 have been taken. Each player has to start with the ball from the half way line and has 7 secs to score a goal in whatever way they can. Keepers are allowed to come out of their goals and it''s not as easy as you might think for the player to score as the 7 sec limit adds a lot of pressure and urgency.

Absolutely brilliant and entertaining to watch, although I suppose in essence there isn''t too much difference to the way penalties work. One thing I guess it might do is to make managers think twice before withdrawing their attacking/creative players in favour of defensive tactics, as they are the players you''d expect more likely to excel in this type of scenario.
