I’ve been advocating seeing Sorensen to be given a run at DM and he looks like he is beginning to come good. What I’ve also been advocating (ever since I first saw him play for Norwich) is that Kenny is not good enough for Norwich. Coincidence or not, Sorensen plays, Kenny doesn’t and Norwich look like a PL team. Most of us agree if we can sort the DM position out this will stiffen the defence, allow the full backs to bomb forward thus making us more dangerous going forward. This along with a tweaking of formation that suits Idah allowed Idah to look like the PL player we all hoped he would be. Well done boys, that performance was excellent.

I totally agree. Wow what a performance. I didn’t see that coming. To go from Div 3 level performances to a proper PL player performance in 1 month is amazing. Well done Adam.

Assuming we go down, who are are next set of players that are going to fund our self funding model? It’s not going to be Krul, Hanley, Pukki as they will be too old. At the end of the season we’ll sell: Rachica, Aarons, Giannoulis. I can see us selling Hugill, Dowell, Rupp & Drmic will be released, Gilmore, Kabak, Normann and Williams will go back. this’ll raise £40m plus £15m for Cantwell I’d have thought plus saving lots on wages. The next set of saleable assets I’m going for Sorensen, Tzolis, Mumba, Big Andy. Hopefully some of the younger players can be loaned out to gain experience and maybe one or two of them might make it. Tomkinson, Dixon-Peters, Adshead, Rowe, Dennis. Plus we’ll buy a couple of creative types and a DM.

I think Tzolis and Sargent will come good but not quick enough for this season. We should get our lonely back on these two combined in a couple of years. Kenny has never been good enough. Idah - definately needed a loan last season. Kabak, Klopp thought he was good enough to play and have enough potential to play him. Dowell is indeed not mobile enough for PL and arguably for the Championship unless we can get him to play in the Hoolahan role. He’s a luxury player in a team doing well.

£10-15m is a steal for a proven scorer at Championship level. He’s only 22 if memory serves me so another one for the future.

I’ve mentioned him before but Scored again today against Southampton. 6ft 2inches Dutch striker and seems two footed with technique. Worth perusing with Idah going the other way on loan.

I don’t understand the premise of this thread to be honest. Next season assuming we’ll be in a The Championship I can see Sargent scoring maybe 10 goals. I can see Tzolis having a field day. Normann will be gone as will Williams and Gilmore. Rachica will be sold for roughly what we paid for him or he’ll tear up the Championship and we’ll have a Premier League player. So if we sold these players we’d recoup most of the £50m people keep banging on about.

£15-20m plus a sell on and add ons sounds perfect to me. I’m fact I’ll even drive him there.

Celtic have a Japanese striker who is banging in the goals, they’ve bought 3 more in January and now Wolves have bought a Japanese player for £500k. Are we missing a trick by not having a look in Japan now we’re post Brexit.

Until a billionaire saviour comes to our rescue we have to stick to the model. Buy maturing young players and sell them on in 2 years time for a healthy profit. As someone said before and I’ve said too, we’ll need to lose out on a few to find our Godfrey, our Buendia. Providing over a 3 year period we are too 26 in the country then great. One day the team will click in the PL and we’ll stay up but until then enjoy the ride.

I don’t mind it he turns out to be the next Phelan, Townsend etc. until we get a wealthy owner this is what we have to do to succeed. Kiss a few frogs.

Apparently we’re after Bradford midfielder Elliott Watt. Out of contract at the end of the season. Age 21, Scottish and 5ft 8 tall. Seems like another youth gamble. Maybe we’ll get him in to allow someone to go out on loan?

The problem Webber has is the players bought this season in Tzolis and Sargent are players for the future. They will improve somewhat next season (assuming we get relegated). Rachica is showing signs of being a PL player. Kabak shows glimpses of being a quality player, Normann is class and playing in the wrong position. Gilmour is either not good enough or playing in the wrong position or a bit of both. As of yet he has not shown he can play in our Norwich team (which doesn’t mean he can’t play in a Chelsea team). PLM - Mot good enough so far. He has the attributes to plug a gap in midfield being 6ft plus, a seasoned pro in France etc but so far it hasn’t happened. Williams is hit and miss but worth persevering with. But I think the full backs especially suffer from the lack of two quality DM protecting their forward runs. The CB’s suffer from the same problem, if there is no DM protection it makes them look a lot worse than they are. Therefore, my message to Webber is to find two decent DM asap and watch our team grow and compete properly. If that means sacrificing Cantwell and Aarons so be it. Cantwell has done nothing and we have cover for Aarons already in Williams and Byram.

Celtic have brought a striker from Japan who’s been banging the goals in since he arrived and just signed 3 more in the transfer window. Maybe with the new trade deal done with Japan, maybe Japanese players is worth having a look at? With Japan players comes Japanese interest and Japanese money. 😉

£20m? Could we lend them Idah as a make weight? Save on wages save on transfer fees. If Brereton Diaz makes it in the last 6 months we’ll sell for £30m plus. If not he can fire us to The Championship promotion next season.

The hope is, if we get relegated that Ipswich don’t go up so we don’t have to play them for at least another season. If we can manage the Hat trick of bounce backs then we’ll not play them for at least another two season. That’ll be nearly 15 years since they last beat us. 🙌

Correct. Kenny is a top half Championship midfielder at best. Our massive failure was not buying two proper DM’s and buying players ripe for a 4231 formation and then decide to play 433. And here we are wondering why it’s gone horribly wrong….so far.

We’ve bought players to play 4231 and we play 433 which doesn’t suit anyone and makes most players look bang average in the elite league.
