You don’t have do one of our players down to praise another - Tzolis obviously has a lot of talent, but hasn’t yet converted that into effectiveness. Idah has started to do that, and maybe other underperforming squad members can take encouragement from that and kick on.

As it stands, he doesn’t look liKe an appealing purchase, but one decent performance and I think he’ll be back in everyone’s good books. if DS thinks he’s earned a place in the squad then hopefully that would indicate the management are satisfied he’s applying himself as expected.

Was a bit tongue-in cheek really. No I totally agree that's more of a priority, but to be honest there are few areas that wouldn't benefit from an upgrade.

Definitely think the players need this sort of attitude- we lost the first half (of the season), let's go out there and win the second half. Their confidence levels must be at rock-bottom, but a bit of time away and a good performance / result in the cup could start to build it up again. Yes it looks pretty bleak currently, but let's hope the team doesn't give up all hope. Get the confidence and the performance levels back, and we might just sneak a few good results and a bit of pride.

Also managed to be injured (or possibly Covid-ed) at the time last season when Pukki was injured and he could have had a run of Champ games.

Fair, but we went into the season with him as basically our first back-up option to Pukki, which is a show of faith of sorts.

Neither of them have particularly flourished on loan this year have they (especially Hugill)? Harsh to pick out Placheta who has been one of our better performers lately (albeit with limited end product). On the Hugill situation, he couldn't do much worse, and I could see him bundling in a scrappy goal or two, but it emphasizes the weakness of our options. Putting so much faith in Idah was always a gamble.

We're a difficult sell to a PL quality player right now, but if we can convince someone of the required quality I'm sure we will go for it. No point in getting someone in to make up the numbers who won't improve us though. Would be lovely to have the CDM gap sorted at last though, and TBF the quality needed to improve that area doesn't need to be that high.

He's not doing us much good at the moment, and his value's not going to increase while that continues (and as he gets nearer to his contract ending). Also not convinced he'd have a positive impact on their team based on current performances, so could be a win-win for us. Frustrating as he has the potential for so much more, but I'd take 12-15m right now.

Insane to me that people keep saying this as an absolute fact when we're 3 points from safety. Yeah we definitely look favourites to go down and need to improve results drastically, but we're not exactly cut adrift.

When Ben Godfrey was here, we used to get periodic calls to convert him to a centre-mid. As we could still do with another DM, I nominate Ozan as a new candidate for the CB > DM conversion. More seriously, will he be regretting coming here? Presumably he thought he's walk into a starting place, but I suspect Omobamidele is ahead of him now.
