  1. Not thinking about the money, I would certainly welcome him back. He fits the "Lambert mold" perfectly, player in the mid 20''s with some good team experience, doesn''t appear to be going anywhere with his current team however definitely has the skill set to work with. Which is where Lambert can then improve his attitude and make him the best player in the lower half of the league. However I would only do it if he was released and we signed him for a lot less per week.
  2. Remember that £4M we have left over from this seasons transfer budget? We were meant to sign Bennett and/or CMS with it. Could end up being very useful, getting in 1 extra player or something like that! Also the Pinkun are quoting £3M for Pacheco... Surely for that price we sign him up right now?
  3. He was fantastic this season, did exactly what Lambert wanted him to do. I think he will go to a Championship Club that are looking for that sort of hold the ball up, knock it on type of player. Maybe Derby or Coventry...
  4. I can remember you saying at the time of the ''Lambert to Burnley'' that the Pink''un forums experienced the busiest 24hrs ever. Was just wondering if after the Portsmouth game up until the Cov game if it got much busier, as there were at some stages a ridiculous number of posts going up! OTBC
  5. Definitely shouldn''t sing anything too/about him. That is when he gets into hyper-mode and does things like score a hit-trick.
  6. You don''t think Holt is a target man? 99/100 balls that are played up through the air, from GK or DF all go toward Holt. Some would say like a target up front.
  7. That''s simple spelling of a name of one of our players... You have to get this stuff right. I couldn''t care less if people spell words wrong, but a player, really?
  8. Given you can''t spell his name, i''m not sure if you should be enjoying such things.
  9. When the Portsmouth players were doing their lap last weekend we all clapped as they walked past, and they clapped back. How it should be.
  10. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/13247128.stm Says we had 15 attempts on and 15 off, can''t be correct, surely?
  11. "He''ll be given less time on the ball in the Premiership so will need to speed up his decision making - this applies to all the players. I''m not sure where this myth that the Premier League gives players more ball on the time comes from but it isn''t accurate." You clearly don''t watch much Premiership football? All players end up getting more time on the ball. In the PL there are less players like Crofts who run in and tackle anything that moves. Most defenders will stand off much more and cut balls out, mainly because getting beaten in the PL means a lot more. Players will get more time however have a more difficult time threading passes together like they do now.
  12. If he gets in the weights room over the off-season, he will be fine. He is already bulky, just needs a little bit of extra strength and he will end up being one of the strongest in the league. He will love it, he loves time on the ball and thats what he will get.
  13. Here is a list of players we should release and why... Ruddy- let in a goal at some point this season Martin- never been good, he just can''t defend at all ever Barnett- got injured Ward- too tall Whitbread- he is American Tierney- Colchester sc*m Crofts- can''t tackle at all, why did we ever buy him? Fox- such inaccurate passing, also too short. Surman- injured too much, not a team player. Holt- didn''t score 30 goals this season. Jackson- come on lad, 2 hat-tricks? we wanted at least 4
  14. Actim index shows players involvement with plays and quality, so not necessarily ''the best players''. So a player of our who doesn''t get the ball all the time is Fox, but without him we wouldn''t have half the goals we go. It is an okay judge, but still doesn''t account for everything. I wouldn''t say Danny Graham is the best player in the Championship, but he is top of the Index.
  15. Good. Would much prefer Celtic''s current first choice keeper.
  16. Agree with Fox. Ruddy, not sure. I think R Martin will do very well next season, he kept Sinclair, Bellamy, Gradel in his pocket during the later stages of the season, and most wingers tend to be very quite when Martin is defending. Surman is clearly a good player, will have to see if he pans out in the PL. Holt will clearly make it due to his drive, he might not score 20, but he will make the team work. Not sure about Crofts, Ward, Teirney. Wes will if anything do better in the PL as he will get more time on the ball.
  17. Not Lambert''s type of player, period.
  18. Due to the quality of his passing Fox would be one of the first people I would keep in the team. Crofts will probably go, mainly because the way he plays the ball will not be so good in the premier league. He would be a better 70th min sub when we are winning, he doesn''t have good enough distribution to play CDM, and isn''t quite PL standard to play RM. Fantastic tackler though. Martin, Wessi and Holt are all pretty much guaranteed places, at the start at least. I think Whitbread and Barnett will be in the CB competition, with some new faces. Teirney, not sure. Jackson, will be placed in the competition with Martin and maybe a couple of new places for the second striker roll. Martin might be in with a shout to play CAM as he is a lot more physical than Wessi, and his passing is awesome.
  19. As much as I hate him for what he did. He showed remorse for what he did and has done the alloted time. If you want to get at him, you have to have a reason, he has done nothing since getting out, but do what he can. Just leave him alone.
  20. "Right ive had enough of this, im sick of people coming out of the woodwork since promotion, who probably have been to one game all season, and in your case Mr Washington have the grand total of 1 post to your name, and posting some c rap like this. There was an idiot the other day with about 5 posts to his name saying we should get Fraser Forster back. So same response to you OP. PI$$ OFF WITH YOUR GREEN OR FORSTER JOHN RUDDY IS OUR FLAMIN KEEPER THANKS AND IF YOU HADNT NOTICED WE JUST GOT PROMOTED WITH HIM BETWEEN THE STICKS. rant temporarily over, until the next time some band wagon jumper posts that we need a new striker cause Grant Holt isnt good enough for the Premiership." (Sorry always fails when I try to quote) I don''t think there is any need to be an idiot about this. I have been a regular reader on this board for about 2 years, and a regular poster for about a year. I have been to all but 1 home games this season (I missed 1 due to severe illness) and have been to 5 away games, plus beambacks. Having also seen some of the Old Firm derbys, I can say that I believe FF to be a better keeper than JR. JR has done very well this season, however I do believe that he will have a tough time in the Premier. You have to understand that the team changed from last year (L1 to Championship) with about 9 new players, so there is no reason to say so many changes wont be made. Yes Ruddy is our keeper. Yes he does deserve a chance at being the keeper. However bringing in another keeper can never be a bad thing... How far to you take this? On a forum, surely we can actively discuss who we think we might buy? Especially at such a contentious position, not like we have let in 5 goals all season. I welcome FF talk, however would also welcome the active competition between him and Ruddy, if it did ever happen.
  21. This will in no way have anything to do with the Premier League, so no 2 relegated or points off for next season. The 2 leagues act as 2 separate entities, the football league will provide 3 times who will enter the PL and the PL will provide 3 teams who are to enter the FLC next season. Anything that is done will be in effect this season.
  22. Chris Martin will not go anywhere. Well at least, he will not be sold. If he doesn''t get a look in he might go to somewhere in the Championship. At 22 we would not sell the hottest thing to come out of the academy in 10 years just because we go up. I would see it as highly likely that he will get a chance to start in the premier league.
  23. 100% agree with OP. FF is better than Ruddy. He has been at Celtic this year and has proved how good he is. Ruddy is good, very good, just I believe it would be PL suicide if we had only Ruddy at the end of August.
