In fact I see that Phyllis Barclay was married to Captain Evelyn Hugh Barclay.

Norwich, Sunderland and Stoke are in a three-way battle to sign Celtic star Gary Hooper.

talkSPORT understands that Norwich are in pole position to land the striker, after Canaries boss Chris Hughton travelled to Celtic Park on Thursday to see Hooper score a late winner for the Hoops against Motherwell.

Hughton is keen to add to his attacking options, as his side have often struggled to find the net this season, with Grant Holt the club''s joint top scorer in the Premier League with just 4 goals.

Sunderland and Stoke have also struggled in front of goal this season, scoring just 21 times in the league so far, and are eyeing a move for Hooper.

The 24-year-old has just 18 months left on his Celtic contract and is keen to move to the Premier League.

Hooper has been a revelation since moving north of the border from Scunthorpe in 2010, scoring 62 goals in 106 games.

Celtic have offered him an improved deal, but talkSPORT has been told the terms are not in line with the current top earners at the club, which could speed up a move to England.
Good job I read this thread as I was just about to post the very same link on a new thread! BW would''ve been livid
we were all saying not so long ago, "If we manage to keep Lambert long enought we can reach the hight of euro league" Think we need to be thinking the same of Hughton, with the realisation that Hughton does hold Loyalty longer. so we do stand a chance,

Let''s hope AVB succeeds at Spurs.

    Another "Tory aresewipe" :

The Daily Mail: “With Wes Hoolahan buzzing about like a wasp with a grudge, Norwich were in their element. Sunderland were undone by Norwich’s bright first half and a couple of examples of rank-bad defending.”

How dare they be so complimentary.

    Hi guys!

Tore from Norway writing. What do you expect in the Gunn club on a matchday? Is there a MOM interview? ANy chance to bump into some players?

And is it a closed club only for selected people?

    Thanks!

Never been in there, But people have said in the past they have met players in there as well as a point of Rumour starting place I E saw Micheal who ever ans so on. but hope you have a nice visit
Pete, you shouldn''t try and express yourself in Norwegian unless you are fluent. Slightly condescending if you ask me. Offensive even.
So where the hell was I expressing myself in Norwegian, Are you in the pub or what
Sorry Pete, you''re right, wrong language, I meant Double Dutch.

  7.

Butterfield was described by his previous manager as the best midfield player in the Championship. He suffered a serious injury nearly a year ago, from which he is still recovering his full match fitness. I watched him play in both the Donny and the SPURS games. He looked good, great technique, two footed and a long way from being PL match fit, which is why he is now getting good experience with a good club in the Championship. I can''t wait to see him back at Carrow Road fully fit. To write the lad off in the way Mungo has done is sickening.
What do you mean by your last sentence ? Mungo has given his opinion, what''s wrong with that ? I don''t happen to agree with his opinion but it wasn''t expressed in an extreme way so why get so offended ? Too many people too quick to take offence these days and then overreacting, if you ask me................ which I know you didn''t !
''Weak, ineffective and hopelessly out of his depth'', is in my opinion writing off a young player recovering from a severe injury. I find this sickening, because Butterfiled, as we all know has been out of action for nearly a year. I am not in the habit of overreacting, and am not doing so on this occasion. I am happy to debate the strengths and weaknesses of any player, and will continue to do so. I am also entitled to respond to the posts on this board, and will continue to do so.
Oh, alright then.

There was a problem last season, a player (think it was Morison) was hassled by a drunk,
I think she was mumbling something about ''be aving you''
Yes, but what really wound her up was Morison replying that he couldn''t be bothered.

  11.

Sorry Steady On, but I don''t think these old fools can be reasoned with.
All we have heard from "Steady On" has been abuse and his comparing

Pinkun poster''s to idiots on Canary Call is hardly conducive to reasoned

argument. The facts on stadium expansion are those stated by the board

at the recent AGM. There were a number of questions on this subject and differing views were expressed. His claims that the figures given were plucked from

the air is not going to cut any mustard with those of us heard the discussion and what the

Chairman said. Therefore until we are presented with a cogent argument

to the contrary and in the face of this factual vacuum then there is

    nothing much to debate.
Ha ha, I have so often read posts from Pink''un MB posters describing Canary Call callers as idiots and morons that I wonder why these posters bother listening to CC at all. It would be great to hear a caller on Canary Call turn the tables by describing to a baffled Paul McVeigh Pink''un posters as puffed up, self-opionated, mutton heads........... although Ricardo I know that is not what you meant and of course this does not of course apply to you.

  12.
I pretty much agree with all of what he has said there - the penalty was a joke to be honest (not that I''m complaining, but if it had been the other way round, I definitely would have been!)

and Ruddy was poor. The first goal is woeful from him, and even the freekick - should he have come out for that? Not sure, but he didn''t inspire confidence today.

To be fair to merson, he does say that you''ve got to give credit to Ruddy for how he''s performed this season, but he wasn''t very good today. I think that''s fair! And as good as he has been, he isn''t in the same league as the "great" keepers. Again a fair comment.
In my opinion, the penalty decision was not a joke. What was a joke was their player, not the ref, deciding that he had been fouled and waving his arms in the air appealing to the ref. This, on the edge of the six yard box and in the last minute of injury time of a game where securing three points was vital. Both the player and his manager stated that the player "didn''t even know where the ball was" before it landed on the player''s arm as he swivelled round and had the effect of diverting the ball away from a Norwich player. Somehow in their befuddled minds they thought this was some sort of conclusive defence. My view is that if a player does not play to the whistle but, instead, decides that he has been fouled, stops playing and irresponsibly waves his arms in the air appealing to the ref then (a) that player is interfering with play and (b) if the ball falls onto the players arm or hand and is deflected/diverted then it''s a clear pen.

  13.
Stephen Elliott, but I fear it''s going to be Vaughan. I think a lot of managers would never have spent money on a player that is injury prone like him... but we''ll see what happens, too early to judge yet.
"Norwich City striker James Vaughan has reportedly been ruled out until the New Year with the knee injury suffered in the club’s televised Premier League win over Sunderland."

  14.
Last night I thought that it would be interesting to listen to the commentary from an outsiders point of view. However I soon gave up and returned to Radio Norfolk. Motson''s constant use of Hooly-han, the condescending way that we were treated spoilt the whole thing and his constant prattling on made me realise that he should be forcibly retired or euthanased. I can not get to see Norwich play due to work and family, but according to him and the rest of the media it seems that we won because Sunderland were "lack-lustre" or poor rather that any merits we might have displayed. It almost appears as if little Norwich aren''t worthy of playing in the promised land of the Premiership and the sooner we know our place and get relegated the better.
Realistically, we will be "little Norwich from the sticks" until we have established and sustained a genuine foothold in the Premiership and that will take some time. If we avoid the drop this season then that will do wonders for our credibility.

  15. Inspired of course by the "Lambert''s best signing" thread. It would be good if someone could post the full list of signings made by Lambert since he joined. However, perhaps Vaughan already ranks as Lambert''s worst or maybe most mis-judged signing purely on the basis of the high injury risk. On the other hand, signings such as MacNamee and Oli Johnson appear in retrospect to smack of "short-termism".
