I’m still at a loss for this sudden lovesfest for Barnes, at the expense of our second best goal scorer and utter threat! Rowe, Sara, Sainz behind Sargent is a must in my book if all are fully fit! Footy all about opinions and debates 👍👍

For me someone who plays in Barnes position he has to create or score more ,

Having said that if he is bringing out the best of Sarge i can understand not changing system ,

my thoughts are a winning team should not be changed , Rowe is one if not the best player i understand but if we are winning then keep it as it is ,

we might be better with Rowe instead of Barnes or we could be worse again big call for Wagner

I think we're now in the final sprint to get in the playoffs. People are criticising Wagner for not playing Hooijdonk, Hooijdonk's an unknown and we're at the business end of the season. Even if Wagner was tempted to risk it if he did try it  and it goes wrong, he'll be crucified given he has been roundly criticised for less.

i get your point hopefully his injury can be managed we need him for sure i think i read a interview that he sad sometimes days after games it is at its worse

what injury?  the one Wagner used as his reason for not keeping sarge on the field Tuesday

I think many people suspect he was thinking we are 2-0 up got another game lets give him a rest but that it backfired spectacularly and then he used the same injury excuse hes used before instead of simply saying  "i wanted to protect him but it didnt work out and i hold my hands up"

Sarge has not fully recovered from his injury which kept him out i would say

Not really. It's a necessary call. Without Sargent we are nothing, so we need to play him whenever possible and despite the risk.

i know we have not got play offs in bag yet but sarge might have another 5-6 games where he is needed,

i think because he missed training through he could of been benched

i do agree we need him though without him upfront we look a totally different side

    One for our data geeks.

Have we lost a match on Grand National Weekend?

I recall yellow and green winning the National and us turning in some great wins. Victory over Man U, I hope I recall correctly as just one example.

Any easy place to find the data?

Anything to do with horseracing ask Mr A Barnes

                       Barnes

                 SVH

Same Start SVH , rest Sarge for a week , i know this is a big Game i know we are not guaranteed anything yet play off wise ,

but i feel playing sarge for this one game he might miss remaining 3 games plus  including play offs ,

obvious His injury has not cleared up in fact it is causing him problems so he can not train this is to  big a gamble if you ask me

  8. tough one to call play Sarge and risk him being out for longer or rest him against Preston and play SVH ?

You have to play your best players but playing Sarge against Preston he could then be out for last 3 games and worst of all play offs ,

i think i would Risk resting him i know we are not guaranteed a play off place yet or got a replacement but seems his injury is getting worse not better

I dont think I'm even advocating any more of a risk than we already took with SvH anyway.

Like Farke, we know how Webber is re fitness of players and understanding the system before integrating them. Frustrating for fans but Knapper surely knew this - so why sign someone who's so short of match fitness?

Baring in mind Hwang was signed as a specific profile of a pressing striker (quality aside at this point) it makes me hugely doubt that SVH is the sort of profile player that Wagner would be that interested in even if he was match fit.

Baring in mind it's January, mid season, and we are a few points from play offs at this point with injured players returning - why didn't we say to Idah sorry you're not going, you only recently signed a 5 year deal and you're scoring goals and getting decent minutes- Hwang is gone and we need to ease Sarge in so you'll get time then you can reevaluate in summer?

But even if we take it that we absolutely had no choice but to loan out Idah then signing anyone who's not fit or matching profile just feels like such a waste. In terms of risk I see plenty of risk loaning in SVH with no reward.

I was more than happy with the Gianoullis loan in January that season, for example.

i Agree the SVH is just totally the opposite of what was needed ,

we needed a fit pressing forward in the same style as Sarge to let us play the same tactic

Wagner will not change the way he plays that is my one criticism of him ,

i feel instead of playing to Idahs strengths he said play like Sarge and they are not the same style ,

so what was needed if Idah loan had to leave was to get a fit pressing forward like Sarge ,

like you have said all along Idah was getting goals coming off the bench that is a fat

to replace that with someone who does was not match fit , does not play , does not come on as sub not a pressing forward and does not score off the bench was total madness

I was delighted when Knapper was appointed, now I'm not so sure.

Then again, I have no idea of the restraints he has been under, so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

    i feel the same

my worry is he was at Arsenal working his Notice then took over yet in all that time ( months )  all he could find was SVH ? ,

we had cut some wages with 3 players plus Idahs wages saved ,

i honestly thought that he would pull something out of the Bag for his first signing a statement of the future ,

not spending millions we didn't have but using those saved wages loaning someone useful at the very least ,

we can not afford to many SVH signings Recruitment is key for a club like us

It’s hard to judge someone on barely 20 mins of first team football.

i did wonder why there were loads of footballs in the NNUH car park maybe he is not good at finishing when training ?

but i agree that is how you find out what you have play the youngster or SVH and tell them this is your chance to shine etc

we needed someone harassing their CB's last night not giving them time to play chasing down lost causes ,

the scoring had been done we had the lead   the important bit was defending from the front which stopped when sarge went off

  12. to be fair to the Board i would not have Backed Wagner in Jan Window either but the Idah loan situation is a embarrassment

i  agree with Hog that the squad was weakened replacing a striker who was scoring from the bench with SVH who is totally overlooked is utter madness ,

Idah might well of wanted the move in fact he might of refused to play who knows but if you are letting him leave why oh why was the striker brought in to replace him not of the style we wanted or have something Different about him to change the game ,

That was a knappers first signing he had months to get that right and had seen hundreds of younger players in his career at arsenal ,

i didn't expect the club to blow loads of money to get to play offs as the team did not look like it was going anywhere until Sarge returned but to loan a player of who the manager does not play when needed  is madness

I do and Luton have showed the season doesn’t have end in the autumn when playing in the EPL. Thankfully Webber wouldn’t be the man assembling a squad to compete too.

no it would be the man who signed SVH which has not been the best signing  ,

I Agree Luton have shown the way in doing things

build a squad team that as a unit are better than sum of parts ( i think we are quite away from that ) ,

our whole back four  looks Shaky  in the champs let alone as in PL maybe stacey only one

Bolt on a few players every season , the thing with us is we will sell maybe Rowe and Sarge even if we go up ,

i also imagine Barkley and Townsend are on more money than rest of squad which i have no problem with as best players but people seem to think here that would upset the squad here ( i personally do not i think top performers should get paid most )

i think what Luton have is a solid unit , Pace , someone to control midfield , power and Fitness that's why they have done so well

I think that last night's performance is a good indication of how much we rely on Sargent. Without him, Wagner 'goes negative' and we, as a team, collapse. Unfortunately we have a fragile underbelly and have had for some time now. We need Sargent, more than any other player and perhaps also the manager.

i think that is my concern

he has all season to find a solution to that problem what happens when Sarge is not in the team ,

he takes Sarge off and we lose all the pressing and energy to push other teams back ,

When Sarge was injured even with Idah here he could not adjust the tactic to suit had to wait until sarge came back

There is everything wrong in playing barnes as a lone striker,  he can't hold the ball up, he can't chase or run the ball down the lines to get us cheap throws. It is like going down to 10 men.

Exactly so the CB's have more time and push up , need energy to worry defenders so they are always thinking nick ball of us or close us down ,hassle them into mistakes
