  1. I went to school at Paston in late 60's and played against a West Ham schoolboys 11 who were on tour, we lost 8-0 but i was chuffed that i had our only shot on goal from the centre circle, it was as close to their goal as we got in the whole game! Often wonder who was in that West Ham team.

Emigrated to Perth, Western Australia, in 1970 and played for Stirling City through the youth teams.  My ambition was always to return to England and play for Norwich. Played in U-16s Cup Final in 1972 in front of a 15,000 crowd prior to the W.Australia V Wolves game and got to meet Hugh Curran who shook my hand and said I was the best player on the ground....highlight of my playing days!

Was named as a sub for a Div 1 game in Perth as a 16yo and was given an envelope after the game with a $10 note in it, this was as close as i got to a pro career! 🙂 Bad knee injury shortly afterwards that ended my ambitions to turn pro but I continued to play until i was 50 and some 6 surgical ops on my knee.

    Close but no cigar.

  2. i despair at the utter crap that has been spewed on this totally bang out of order post by some so called ''fans''! Is there not an admin to delete this effing garbage which, lets face it, call it what it is.... BULLYING!!!

Ffs some of you premature speculators need to have a good look in the mirror and give your head a good wobble!!!

    LEAVE HIM ALONE

If you are reading Todd, it's not you that has the problem mate, its just a few recalcitrant P Ricks who are upset with their own miserable existence.

    Unbelievable!!!

Just here to say that Dean Smith is a truly great man. Never felt so upset losing a manager before because he is such a decent guy that has been dealt a bad hand this season with Grealish going and loads of injuries to his players he brought in as replacements. Yes he had to go after 5 losses on the bounce but 99 percent of the fan base loved him.  He handled the media well the squad well and never ever gave the players any idea that he was under pressure. He takes it all on his shoulders and never throws anyone under the bus

He gave the Villa some of the best times in recent memory with the 7-2 win against Liverpool the 3 nill away at Arsenal and the wins against Spurs and Chelsea at the end of last season.  In fact his last win was away to Manure where we all felt he was getting close to legend status. And then we got 5 defeats on the spin and its all change .

In terms of why he is in New York his son is in the States on a football scholarship so he hadnt  seen him for a long long time , so took the chance to go and see him i guess.

If he does get appointed then i cannot promise a revolution for you but he is a very good coach and is a very safe pair of hands. He knows how to coach on a limited budget and is a far more interesting coach than maybe you would think on first impressions.  A very good man manager as well . I hope you guys will give him the time needed to bed in and turn things around.

One last thing , our board didnt sack him because they thought he couldnt save Villa from relegation. They sacked him because they are hugely ambitious and want to see progression eveey season. They have dunped 250 million on the squad and about another 40 mill on the club infrastructure so i guess they had to pull the plug.

All the best for the future and please look after him .

Cheers Mark, I for one am absolutely buzzing at Dean having a crack at putting this jigsaw together, something that Daniel seemed incapable of doing. I'm not expecting getting off to a flyer because he only has a week and wont have everyone at training for even that time, but I'm more positive now than I have been that he will ultimately prevail and get us to survival.

  4. Was always going to be tough at Brentford despite, or in light of, their 3 losses on the spin and injuries. The first goal was very crucial and what a fabulous solo effort from Normann it was! For a team seemingly devoid of confidence you could see the uplift it gave us. Normann is some player and looking more at home with each game. Big shout out to Omo, Williams and Milot also but it would have been a point only if not for Krul.

I was waiting for Normann to use his long throw prowess, it's a good weapon to have as was seen by Brentford using it to good effect numerous times.

Winning breeds confidence and whilst there is room for a lot more improvement I'm looking forward to the rest of the season now and hoping for the bounce a new manager can offer.

Gutsy performance at last and no-one could say the players didn't give their all.

  5. Love TNC and their sense of fun during last season with HMS **** This League was hilarious. Both Jack and Chris are good value and bleed yellow 'n green; they're fans and express from the heart. I don't always agree with their views and they often disagree with one another which is how it should be. If you watch the previous vid Jack put out he was really torn on whether Farke should stay or go, the same as many of us , and like many of us after the Leeds loss his agonising was put to bed but backed this with sound reasoning; Farke's Premier League record is totally abysmal and enough is enough.

The performance was a complete an utter disgrace, one of the worst I have ever seen.

On and off the pitch the club has been unprofessional this week, a total embarrassment and people need to be called out for it.

totally agree. after the first went in i was clock watching just wanting to be put out of my misery as quicky as possible.

  7. I wasn't too fussed about the losses to Liverpool and Man City but was a tad glum after Leicester because they were really there for the taking on the day; sure we could have come away with a point but our play was strewn with errors, particularly in the back 4. I was expecting a heavy defeat at Arsenal because of the immense pressure they were under and their improved lineup but for the first time this season I thought we got a lot right. First half we weathered the expected initial storm then grew into the game well and took the sting out of the Gunners, to go in at 0-0 at half time was due to some very good game management. Second half we still had times of good possession and at times looked in control, no mean feat away at Arsenal. I was actually relaxed for the first time this season. I'm looking forward to seeing us when we have had some time to actually train together and get some understanding happening. We wont be going down.

  8. Leicester were really poor today with a weakened side and were ripe for the picking but we looked lightweight, out of our depth and lacking in any semblance of confidence.

The insistence on playing out from the back the way we do is a nightmare to watch, it just invites the opposition on, knowing full well that we will make stupid decisions/errors...it's ridiculous to continue in this vein, opposition can read us like a book.

Struggling to find anything positive from today , it is all so predictable!
