  1. It's tragic that 'everyone's 2nd favourite Club' should find itself in such decline. 🀭
  2. The kid is 18, he's had a great day, but he isn't a superstar........ yet 😎
  3. Don't know what the argument is here, I've supported Norwich for 50 years, back then we were a lower Division 1 upper Division 2 side and apart from the odd spell where we've overachieved/underachieved we're pretty much in the same place. The game itself has changed though, back then we looked up to giants like Sunderland, Forest, Derby, Wednesday, Coventry, Leeds, Stoke, West Brom and that lot down the road. The Teams that have overtaken us from those days include Watford, Brighton, Bournemouth, Palace and Villa who'd had some time in Division 3. All of which have mega rich owners ploughing huge sums in to keep them competitive. Remaining largely competitive when the rest have changed their business model to stay ahead of us should be acknowledged for the achievement that it is.
  4. Thing is Wacky, when we sold Madison, we couldn't see where the goals would come from. 12 months later, we'd been promoted, were raving about Emi and, despite the appreciation we all have for Madison were in awe of Buendia. .... in other words, there's always another talent out there, I just hope Webber has found him.
  5. I think we're aiming to be a top 26 side on a regular basis, or something like that...... so far so good.
  6. I don't know if this has been mentioned, but apparently agent Lambert has signed a 5 (five!) Year contract. Thoughts?
  7. Mentioned on TWTD though, it's given them something to celebrate as their 'guaranteed' promotion continues to unravel.
  8. Not sure you've read the script, Tottenham have been linked with Aarons according to the press nearly all season. Godfrey has been linked to a whole host of big Clubs, some abroad, playing in the Champions League.... .... 'and the prices paid' will reflect how much Webber is willing to accept.
  9. In all seriousness JUBS, if you're not promoted this season, you could be down there a long time. As it stands, the only thing going up, is the debt.
  10. Despite living in NZ and missing entire seasons, I was at Portsmouth to see us promoted, saw us win at Tottenham and Man City, the 3-2 against Derby and saw 2 strikers score hat-tricks in the same game against Scunthorpe. Far from dull...... Oh, and happy new year!!!!!!!!
  11. I think Kevin Reeves was only the second Β£1 million pound player after Trevor Francis..... we built a new stand out of the proceeds.
  12. Love this, interesting that some haven't contributed, I'm hoping that we can make a fight of it. We've been relegated 8 times in my lifetime, for different reasons. I don't mind being outclassed given the financial constraints. I understand that sometimes we'll lose a star player or Manager which derails our season. Injuries to Wes and Timm could have seen us survive at key points in a season. What I have trouble dealing with is the sides who clearly had the ability but for whatever reason couldn't or wouldn't perform. I don't think that is happening this season, if we ultimately fail it won't be for the want of trying.
  13. Nail, head, I've been saying it for years.
  14. True Indy and around we go, Villa fans always maintain that they are a Big Club and of course they are. Just like Newcastle, they spend a fortune, yet never seem to make a sustained challenge, they may have one good season, then sink back among the strugglers. Managers come and go, huge sums are invested, yet the outcome is always the same. If Villa do go down there will be questions to answer over FFP.
  15. Yes, he'll probably bore them to death, but as long as they survive, hey?
  16. Not really, they spent a hell of a lot of money building a huge Stadium, which allows more punters through the doors, which will attract more advertising, sponsorship and for their worldwide audience, it'll look great on the tele. 😎
  17. Was this posted after the Spurs game? Because we didn't lose that one..... what makes you think we'll lose to Palace?
  18. Warning!..... Freddie Sears is on his way back and Luke Chambers will be available soon, the rest of the Division have been warned. 😎
  19. I may have passed this story on before. I used to be a London Cab Driver, one day I picked up a guy and we got talking about football and how I was losing 'the love' for the game. I gave him the example of a game we'd played during our first season back under Lambert and how the game had 'turned' on several decisions by the Referee. He explained that he worked for Sky, was involved in specialized filming, action replays, slow mo's etc and that they were working on 3D for live games. He continued that the Big Clubs would never be relegated, that it would not be allowed to happen. "Do you know how much it would cost the Premiership to lose one of its biggest earners" "How much would Sky lose in subscriptions around the World if a ManU or Arsenal were to go down" It was then that I decided that I was not going to pay Β£50 to see my Team at Stamford Bridge if the result had already been decided. Conspiracy theorist? You betcha.....
  20. I said when it was first announced that it would be another tool to help the Big Clubs and was shouted down. I get no pleasure from saying I told you so and hold my hands up as a conspiracy theorist, that doesn't make me wrong though, does it? If this had happened to Rashford or Salah it would be on the news for a week and social media would go into meltdown.... ..... but we're little old Norwich, we don't contribute much to the Premiership brand in terms of worldwide interest, we don't spend like a Bournemouth or Villa, stimulating revenue, certainly not compared to Spurs or Arsenal. We've been relegated before and no one outside Norfolk cares, we won't be missed, like Swansea, Reading, Stoke and eventually Watford and Brighton, we're fodder, to be beaten by the Big Clubs to keep their supporters happy. As for VAR, it's just another nail in the coffin of a sport that has become a business, a business increasingly aimed at armchair fans, ignoring the the wishes of those paying to attend an event where vested interests come first. I hope we survive, I really do, the money would be very handy, but the Prem is a rubbish product and if we do go down, we can look forward to proper football next season.
  21. You are Paul Lambert and I claim my fiver. 😎
  22. Since Connor arrived, we've stopped winning, nuff said.....
  23. Yeah, why can't we be 1p5wich?.... Delia out!
