2. I really don''t see the point of him in the team. He provides nothing. He has one speed which is ''meander''. He is not strong enough on the ball. His passing is limited at best and also, his set pieces are only good enough about 1 in 10 chances. I used to say the same thing about Dorrans when he played, but i''d gladly have him back right now!
3. I went and there was nothing really new to report to be honest. Other than what is in the papers. Bassong made a really heartfelt speech along the same lines as his now released letter. I would note that Naismith wasn''t there either. I do like how Steve Stone and Stuart Webber seem to get on really well, and it seems that this relationship will only help our club. It''s too early to say if this system will actually work, but everyone is certainly on board with it. It was a very relaxed atmosphere to be honest and it seemed a lot more relaxed than when Alex Neil was here. That''s just my view anyway.
4. It''s looking likely that Snodgrass is jumping ship this January for a fee rumoured to be around £10m. Just wondered if we had a sell-on clause when we sold him to Hull??
5. Another member of the Pink''un message board elite?!?
6. If you''re saying I''m pathetic by genuinely not knowing that he had done this before, then you are the pathetic one and one of the reasons that a lot of people do not post or visit this board any more. Certain ''posters'' who believe they''re the authority on here!
7. Not all of them are. If we are buying / loaning the player IN then yes they tend to be, but if we are selling / loaning out, then they happen wherever is convenient to both clubs, and, the buying club tend to say where they want them performed. I believe Victor Valdes'' medical for his move to Besiktas (now cancelled) from Man Utd, was being performed in London as per Besiktas'' request.
8. Not necessarily. Medicals can be performed at any medical facility, as long as representatives from both clubs are present and happy with the results.
9. Looks like Ryan Bennett is off somewhere. He''s been posting pictures on Twitter around the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital, maybe having the medical there?
10. I went along. Nothing of any note really apart from what was already known re: Brady and Wisdom and that they are looking to sign 2-3 more. Good to see some video footage of some memorable moments in FCR history. Also great that money from the evening was raised for Age UK, in particular the ''Still On The Ball'' initiative which uses football as a sort of memory jogger, working with mainly males with dementia. Duncan Forbes'' wife and son were there and god a well deserved round of applause for this great initiative. Everyone was making more out of Hoolahan not being there than they should''ve. He wasn''t there as his wife was ill. Also, Alex Neil arrived late due to attending a Premier League Managers meeting where he said the only thing of note was that the Offside rule is going to get even more complicated! Overall though, it was a good night.
11. The programme was really good I thought and I found it really moving. It showed that no matter what your mental / physical capabilities are, there''s always a place in this world for you. I have to say, when his mother passed away, I found it incredibly moving how he dealt with this sad part of his life. "I''m doing well aren''t I?". It''s a must watch for anyone I''d say!
12. When I did it in League 1 vs Leeds, I hit it once and won 2 free cinema tickets (Odeon). I think if you hit it twice it was a signed football, 3 times was £100 in a N&P Canary Account, 4 times was a signed shirt and 5 times was the cost of your season ticket or something like that! The highest scorers from the season took part in a final challenge at the last game to win a holiday or something but not sure if they do that anymore! I''m just glad they brought it back rather than that rubbish inflatable ring thing!!!
13. How about another slant on this one. Lambert sacked, finally takes over at Celtic where he seems destined to end up and that leaves the way open for Lennon!?
14. I was also at the dinner last night and I thought there were more positives than negatives coming out of it. I didn''t get the impression at all that Neil Adams was nailed on for the role and don''t know why anyone got that impression. I was encouraged by Bowkett''s speech and the seriousness of it. Saying everyone had made mistakes and taking responsibility for them. Also, the passion and hurt from everyone was very apparent. Ruddy isn''t leaving, Snodgrass maybe, wasn''t 100% convinced by him saying he was staying, basically leaving it up to the club. One comment that Bowkett did make was that we got the signings wrong in key areas especially in the forward department which caused Hooper to give a shocked and rather "Who me" type of face! I was also pleased that the emphasis was based on the "Norwich Way" of passing and forward thinking football. To criticise Neil Adams for apprently not playing this style is unfair. He had 5 games, 4 against teams that usually beat us barring the odd upset and one against Fulham where we absolutely battered them for 90 minutes. What does everyone expect him to have done, get 15 points!? He did what he did with the players we have. The Chelsea game was a prime example, yes we defended but is it not true that if we approached the game in a more open attacking manner, they would have picked us off just as they did at the home game!? I firmly believe that it won''t be Adams as manager next season, it''s just the feeling I got, but he will stil be involved in the set-up. Whether he wants that or not is upto him. Most of the players alluded to the same thing Russell Martin did last week in that the team lost it''s identity. Ruddy said that everyone was saying that this is the best squad that''s ever been assembled at Norwich and that maybe the players believed the hype and got complacent. Also, most of the squad that I spoke to said that Hughton was a great guy, but too nice and the coaches didn''t have the authority that they maybe should have had. Overall, it was all positive despite the undertone of relegation and I think maybe this step back could prove to be a catalyst to a huge step forward.
15. I agree that Steve Clarke would be a great appointment. I think in many peoples opinions he was given the chop at West Brom too soon and would''ve kept them up comfortably. His management style and tactics would suit us I think! Malky is not the answer, it''s a romantic idea but we need a proven premier league manager now.
16. I disagree with his point that those down the road don''t crow about their past glories, it is in fact ALL they crow on about!! I''ve never met a Town fan yet that doesn''t reply to the boast from myself that we''re currently raking it in in the top level of English football with a "Yeah, but we won this that and the other mate!". Also, they fail to remember that we were denied European entry by the ban on English clubs and also they qualified for their last European jaunt via the Fair Play rankings!! Nothing really to brag about that one!
17. I actually think with Snodgrass possibly fit again, and Pilks waiting in the wings we should be ok. Also Redmond can play on the right as can Olsson. So I don''t think we''re by any means desperate. I do remember seeing Bennett limping about for a bit after one particular challenge, and after this he seemed to not be running as freely. Shame as I thought he played really well.
18. It''s all explained in Leon''s book that he''s very good friends with Francis and always has been. Safri on the other hand, he''s not so keen!
19. Bassong was nursing an injury for pretty much half the season I seem to remember somone saying, so guessing he''s having extensive treatment back here. Same with Turner who had lots of niggles throughout the season. No point in travelling if they''re not going to be taking part in what the rest of the squad is doing. Barnett not going is purely as he''ll be looking for a new club I suspect.
20. Such a sad sad case. One of my all time hero''s growing up. I fear that only he can help himself now. It doesn''t help that his close friends seem to want to drink with him and that his family are a bunch of leaches living off his name. But it''s now time for him to really try. I fear a sad end to the story though.
21. I think people need to realise that he''s not worth what he was this time last year. He''s 32 and coming off the back of not a great goalscoring season for him, although I think he did more in other areas, goalscoring is what he''ll be ultimately judged on. Also, if you now look at the fact David Villa is moving for around £4m, kind of puts the deal into perspective.
22.
I''d also like to add, that although we''ve won 1 in 14/15 games or whatever it is. We''ve only lost 3 league games since the turn of the year all away from home, and are actually unbeaten at home in the league this year. I know we''ve drawn most of these games, but if we draw the reast we will finish on 41 points and that will be more than enough to keep us up! I can see the bottom 3 beaing as follows: QPR finishing on 30, Reading on 31 and being between Wigan and Villa on Goal Difference on 36 points.
Obviously I meant we''ve lost 4 league games! D''OH!
