How the fixtures list is decided...
e10_yellow replied to Ketts Rebel's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Ketts Rebel - yes, we are paired with Ipswich - whenever we are at home they are away, and vice versa. I believe this is mostly to do with potential issues with Norwich fans, Ipswich fans and two sets of away fans regularly travelling on the London-Ipswich-Norwich mainline railway on the same day. -
Counted the tweets replying to McNally canvassing opinion (bored in the library). 74% of Norwich fans who have responded so far with a clear view either way (258 in total) are against the idea.

Having been to the majority of grounds in the PL and Championship I have to say I''ve never had my experience improved by the presence of a big screen, in fact often they''re distracting and annoying. Our current scoreboards have the capability to deliver all the info you/the club need at a game (teams, scores, sponsors) without imposing too much on the actual football match happening right in front of you.

Someone on WOTB just posted they are going to the game and have two spare tickets

I know scum''s support is pitiful so I''m more surprised that Hull are only taking 700. In the box seat for second, Saturday afternoon game, journey''s a bit of a pain but could be a lot worse - not exactly impressive! To answer your question, at the moment I''m more enjoying their slide to oblivion. Long may it continue. A reunion in the FA/League Cup one day might be fun though.

Norwich City in plea to persistent standers
e10_yellow replied to Pete Raven's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
There is no point moaning about the club/stewards because their hands are tied. They have to show to the police and licensing authorities that they are taking action to keep matches at Carrow Road within the letter of the regulations as it stands. If we want change, and I mean in this sense a CHOICE for all fans - those who want to sit, and those who want to stand - then football fans at all clubs and particularly those on this messageboard need to stop bickering and fighting and actually show the authorities that they want a choice. If you want to sit you should have an area in the ground, whether it be home or away, where you know you won''t have your view impeded. If you want to stand you should equally have an area in the ground where you can safely stand with like-minded individuals. No tension, perfectly safe. Nothing is going to happen until the legislation is changed. Forget about targeting the club on this for now - target the authorities. This is a good place to start http://www.fsf.org.uk/campaigns/view/safe-standing-campaign -
Wouldn''t be a fan of this in all-seater. People up and down the row every two minutes throughout the game to the bar or the toilet would be very annoying, it''s bad enough in the 5 minutes before/after half time now. I''ve very much enjoyed drinking on the terraces at games in Germany, but that''s because you''re free to stand/move anywhere you want and don''t get disturbed by others moving around. If we got safe standing over here I''d be happier with the proposal.

Would have been too young for Europe anyway, so the play-off semi 3-1 win at home v Wolves, listened on the radio at home.

Optional £19 Academy Donation
e10_yellow replied to I am a Banana's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I pay for my season ticket, I view that as my main financial contribution to all aspects of the club, including the academy. I refuse to be emotionally blackmailed by either the club or my fellow fans into what is essentially a backdoor extra price increase and hence I will be opting out. -
Arsenal v Man City OT
e10_yellow replied to marvin the martian's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I find it a bit hypocritical for us to single out Arsenal for criticism at £62 when we charge away fans £50. The problem is not Arsenal, it''s football -
Scum Fans want Revenge on Lambert
e10_yellow replied to USA Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Hope the scum get absolutely battered to ruin their big day out (all 2,900 of them). -
To clarify on the alcohol on train situation The East Midlands trains, i.e. the usual service at 57 past the hour, you can drink on - ref tweet from @EMTrains: ''There are no alcohol free [EMT] trains planned, however passengers that are drunk and disorderly can be refused travel.'' The Football Special 1120 service, which is being run by Greater Anglia, will be an alcohol-free (dry) train - ref tweet from @GreaterAnglia: ''morning. the train will be dry. Have a great time. GK'' Tickets for the special train are not valid on EMT or vice versa.

Assume you''re talking about Matej Vydra. He''s on loan from Udinese. Any invented permutation of this rumour is a complete non-starter for the reasons I''ve already outlined.
-
Since this summer Watford have been owned by the Italian Pozzo family who also own Udinese and Granada - hence all the loanees from those clubs and bringing Zola in as manager. Wholesale overhaul but their strategy seems to be working so far.
-
Under new ownership Watford are building a very skilful, pacy team this year (albeit essentially made up of Udinese loanees) and are banging on the door of the play-offs if not automatic. Holt would not fit in with what they''re doing at all.

Bring back the yellow nets?
e10_yellow replied to Row D Seat 7's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Yes, long been an advocate of this! Bring them back. -
Alternatively, Boxing Day is when non-season ticket holders who live elsewhere are back in the region visiting family, and as such there''s more people than usual wanting a ticket to the game. It''s always massively in demand every year regardless of who the opposition are. Can''t help with tickets but there seem to be a few floating around so good luck.

shefcanary. In Germany at least I think the calculation is that for every 1 fan in a seated section you can get 1.8 fans when standing, so the 1 to 1 isn''t quite accurate. Dortmund''s capacity is 80,645 for league matches (when standing is in operation) and 65,590 for European games (when UEFA legislation states they have to ''unlock'' the seats in their safe standing rail seats, so no standing), so there is a commercial benefit. While it may not be right for Norwich City at the present time, as for many other clubs, why should we still accept that current legislation prevents clubs from even considering the option? If we were building a new ground from scratch, maybe it''s something we might consider. We are not just Norwich fans, we are football fans. I''m well aware that Norwich are unlikely to do this any time soon but it''s about a wider issue of fan experience rather than just whether McNasty''s back of a fag packet calculations would make it worthwile for us, and if not, just dismissing it.

Nicko. Fans are already standing up in seated areas. Show some evidence that it will ''intensify'' if people are in a designated standing area. If we''re throwing around speculation I''d perhaps speculate that if the authorities gave the concession for football fans to do what they''re already doing (standing up) in a designated safe area then there might be less inflammatory behaviour against stewards trying to get people to sit down. People need to understand that safe standing is NOT TERRACING. Hillsborough is completely irrelevant in this argument. Hillsborough was 1. not caused by the fact the fans were standing and 2. even if it was, this would not be a return to a Hillsborough-style terrace. Say we establish a priority of the following for designing football grounds for matchday experience. 1. Safety. Above all else. 2. Ensuring that all attending are comfortable and able to enjoy and view the game how they see fit and according to their needs (i.e. if shorter or unable to stand for long periods) 3. Allowing for a good atmosphere Can anyone put forward any actual reasons based on evidence and fact why any of those would be detrimentally affected by the introduction of safe standing in certain sections of the ground, and indeed that it would not even improve supporter experience? 1. Safety. Safe standing has been used for many years in the top divisions in Germany without incident. Given fans in, say, the lower Barclay, Snakepit and away sections are already standing throughout the match in seated areas (with the inherent danger of falling over the row in front during celebrations), how can it not be safer to have them doing exactly the same thing but with a barrier behind and in front of each individual to prevent crushes, surges or falling? 2. All attending are comfortable. Again and again we have the argument on here that fans go to an away match who, for whatever reason, prefer to sit, but given the culture of standing away as indicated above are forced to stand. Designated standing and seating areas would give fans a choice. If you want to stand, go in the standing area. If you want to sit, you can still buy a seat, and you''d be able to sit in it. No more arguments in the stand, we can all enjoy the game how we want to. 3. Atmosphere. Who ever saw a choir sitting down to sing? Fans stand at football anyway and always will because you can get a better atmosphere going stood in a group. The authorities need to stop burying their heads in the sand, accept that standing at football will always happen, and look to give clubs the option of providing the safest environment possible in which to do so.

He''s got 136 followers and set up his account a week ago. I''d believe Duncan Jenkins over him. -

They''ve posted it, what more do you want them to do? -
''Jingle bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way, oh what fun it is to see Norwich win away'' got several airings at Swansea on Saturday.

I suggest we change our club colours to blue and yellow to make IKEA aware of how much we want them to buy our ground
