Pre season in Italy...or France
e10_yellow replied to Year of the tiger's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Ahh I see, I was looking at the fixture list section on there which is the one out of date. The Novara website also doesn''t seem to list our game in their 2014 pre-season fixtures, which is mildly concerning as I''ve booked to go out for that one! -
Pre season in Italy...or France
e10_yellow replied to Year of the tiger's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Good spot, wonder when the club are going to find time to announce...I know a few people were holding off booking trips to Italy before it got announced. The Sampdoria pre-season fixtures I can see on their website are old ones from 2013, I think -
Moving the Ipswich game to the Sunday
e10_yellow replied to Jim Smith's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Agreed, it''s a ridiculous decision. I understand the reasons for an early kick-off, but the usual argument for having games on a Sunday - that people have work the next day hence won''t drink as much or stay out after the game - is irrelevant as the Monday is a Bank Holiday. The game could just as appropriately be held at 12pm on the Saturday that weekend, when the trains are running as usual. -
Best Away Days for next season
e10_yellow replied to KiwiScot's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Peterborough have demolished their away terrace since we went in the Cup, so it''s all-seater there now. However Brentford''s away end is a terrace on the lower tier, as those who went in League One will remember. Brighton''s new stadium is very impressive and well worth a trip for those who haven''t been yet. -
Think they''ve held off on the United game as there was a possibility it could have been moved depending on today''s Chelsea CL draw and the knock-on effects of their fixtures being moved. Looking at the dates confirmed, I think it will remain as the Saturday at 5.30pm, so tickets should be put on sale asap now. Hopefully the club will knock a few quid off for Chelsea as with other games this season.

Fulham Neutral Area Tickets...
e10_yellow replied to Yellow Messiah's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Tickets are available in P4, the block next to the ''official'' away section, but you need Fulham booking history. -
the clappers why not ?
e10_yellow replied to im spartacus canary 's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
They make a lot of noise but for me it''s to the detriment of other ''atmosphere'' - on Saturday, any songs that were started that have a clappable rhythm - i.e. pretty much any song that isn''t OTBC - were swiftly speeded up and drowned out by drones bashing their clappers, to the point where there was no point even trying to get songs started. Given the relative comfort of our victory I am confident it would have been an even better atmosphere had we not had them. And I wouldn''t have been cringing at every crowd shot on MOTD. -
Boxing Day Fulham Game
e10_yellow replied to BigManInTheBarclay's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
If you can get to Craven Cottage in the morning, Fulham are doing free coach travel for every away game this season, worth a go! -
Old Trafford for Capital One Cup Match
e10_yellow replied to Myra Hawtree's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Agree with Jim Smith re the ''heroes'' deal - so the Chief of Greater Manchester Police on however many hundred thousand a year could get in for £15, but the rest of us in our less ''heroic'' jobs have to swallow the £46. Bizarre -
Old Trafford for Capital One Cup Match
e10_yellow replied to Myra Hawtree's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
hairy canary - it''s a minimum 10 ticket booking for that adult £15 price, so don''t think that would work. Complete rip-off, I can''t go due to work anyway but if I had been planning on it, I''d now be boycotting -
Ipswich scoreboard slur ....
e10_yellow replied to OxShireCanaryYellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Remember it well, it was Burnley at home in 2001, think we won 2-1. Back then the scoreboard would show latest scores from other matches during the game rather than just half/full time so during the first half it flashed up Man Utd 1 Scum 0 to much amusement. Scoreboard operator got sacked I think! Think it was towards the end of that season they stopped flashing up scores during the game as we were chasing the play-offs and they didn''t want the players/crowd to get distracted by what other teams were doing. -
Not seen it mentioned on here this year so just to inform that this Saturday 7th September is the 2013 instalment of national Non-League Day - with no Norwich game or any other PL/Championship fixtures it''s an opportune time to pop down to your local non-league team. Weather forecast looking good and most if not all of the following applicable: Cheap entry, friendly welcome, family friendly, stand up/sit down/wander around where you like, drink beer in view of the pitch. Lots of bumper crowds expected all over. Some local fixtures in Norfolk and north Suffolk on Saturday... Lowestoft Town v Hendon Kings Lynn Town v Droylesden Swaffham Town v Team Bury Fakenham Town v Kings Lynn Reserves Gorleston v Newmarket Town Great Yarmouth Town v AFC Sudbury Reserves Kirkley & Pakefield v Ely City Bungay Town v Brandon Town (this one is even better than free entry as they''re doing a promo where you will get paid 5p for turning up!) For those who live elsewhere there''s a map at http://www.nonleagueday.co.uk/map.html If nothing else it''s better than going shopping

No respect to Yeovil from me here in this incident. If you watch the highlights (which are on YouTube) they took advantage of Birmingham''s entire defence and goalkeeper all being out of position after the injury and it was clear everyone else on the pitch was anticipating the ball being returned. Bloke who scores then seems bemused why the entire Birmingham team rounds on him in fury! They only let them score after the restart from the Yeovil goal in extra time on manager''s instructions at the time - the Yeovil players'' enthusiastic celebrations for their 3-2 goal show that they thought it was going to be the winner, not that they were anticipating standing still from the kick off. It was Tom Adeyemi who scored the winning penalty (initially saved, but looped up and hit the dozy keeper lying on the line and went in!) and great celebrations from him sprinting up to the other end where their fans were. No fan of Birmingham for obvious reasons but justice done here I think.

Arrived at the ground at 2.45 to get in to the upper Barclay, finally got to my seat with 1 minute 30 gone on the scoreboard. Didn''t actually go through the scanners as they eventually opened the exit gates and everyone rushed through just flashing their card at the stewards unsuccessfully attempting to count everyone in ("8, 9, 10, 11")! Bit of a shambles really, never seen a queue that big even for all-paper ticket cup games. Looks like when the turnstiles broke down (several in both lower and upper weren''t working) there was no scope for manual backup, i.e. a steward to go and sit in the booth and check tickets like the old system. Lots of people in high-vis jackets wandering around clearly not knowing what to do.

The OTBC ''experience'' (only £250) is still available on the club shop website - although they appear to only have people signed up to do it for the Everton game so far, all the rest are available...

Football twitter fans map
e10_yellow replied to newcastle uni canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Houston - I think Fulham are showing up in South America because they recently toured Costa Rica. Remember they had a big American takeover a few weeks back as well. So it''s important to view the map in the context of how much a club is in the news at the current time. Related to the above I''d be interested to see a map for a longer timescale than just a week - perhaps a month or even a year - although appreciate the more data to load, the more complex it gets -
A member who perhaps can''t get a season ticket due to the waiting list, but might have attended 15 home games at full price last season, gets absolutely no additional credit for their home match attendance, but a season ticket holder does. Doesn''t seem fair to me. Either make home attendance relevant for everyone or no-one.
-
Agree re fixture incentives - especially when in the last couple of years the club have several times offered free/reduced coach travel if it looks like we''re not going to fill an allocation. Wonder if unpopular games might start becoming an ''extra 50 point bonus game'' in the last week of sales if we''re looking like we might lose money on unsold allocation
-
There''s some more detail, albeit badly worded, up on the official site now. Seems to me this doesn''t actually change much at all with the problems of the previous system, i.e. that a member can go to loads of away games and still lose out to a season ticket holder who only wants to go to one big away game. i.e. ST holder - 1000 pts auto Member - 500 pts auto Member still needs another 500 pts to even catch the ST holder - that''s 10 away games. So basically the ''Member plus 10 stubs'' group from last season, which puts them in with 20,000 other season ticket holders. Appreciate them trying but this system doesn''t actually seem to solve anything and just overcomplicates the issue. Although it sounds like there''ll be online applications now, not before time.

Time for a new badge???
e10_yellow replied to Yellow Messiah's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Even taking my rose-tinted spectacles off I really can''t see how anyone could look at our badge and see any need for change. It''s bold, simple, clear, self-contained, instantly recognisable (in part thanks to the colours) and references the heritage of the city with the canary, lion and castle. For me the single most significant thing is that immediate recognition comes despite the fact it doesn''t have the words ''Norwich City'' or similar on it anywhere. I hate to use the term ''brand'' in relation to my club, but given that someone earlier in the thread already did, I posit that you really can''t beat that for brand recognition. Look at other badges in the Football League and there are very few that can boast the same claim. Whatever club PR departments might vomit out about ''heritage'' and ''progression'', most recent badge changes are entirely down to commercial reasons which for me at least is a slippery slope to soul-selling. -
Thanks for the tip Yellow Belly - have driven over the Golden Gate on a previous trip to SF but only went a short distance further just to explore. Scenery was fantastic so looking forward to doing the full run all the way up to Portland. Definitely sticking to the coast road wherever possible. I''ll put a City scarf in the back window so beep your horn if you pass us!
-
Oh yeah I know that - just want one with a good atmosphere i.e. lots of Portland fans!
-
Coming from the UK for the San Jose and Portland games, driving up the coast between the two. re Portland, their fans group the Timbers Army seem a friendly and enthusiastic bunch so hopefully there''ll be a bar or two near the ground we''ll be welcome in - I''ll try and contact them nearer the time. NY Canaries - will email now to get on that list. Can''t wait - beats the recent pre-season away trips like Palace, Southend and Coventry!

First game.......Man City Away !!!!
e10_yellow replied to stoke canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Those Championship, League One and League Two first day fixture lists are all wrong, because the Football League have already announced 6 of the opening day fixtures. Plus based on the starting weekends for each league (FL 3 August, PL 17 August) the lists would, assuming a home/away alternate weekend format, put us and Ipswich both at home (or away) on the same weekends, which doesn''t ever happen as we''re paired. I could type a random list of fixtures out now and it would have exactly the same credence as the above.
