  1. A little story......A good friend of mine who is married to a Swiss lady and used to live over there knew/knows someone who worked for Fifa as an accountant at the time of the 1994 World Cup in the Stares. Now this person was instructed to carry and deliver bag loads of cash to contacts in the States. She actually caried these accross by plane. She asked no questions and was given no explanation, and thought it best to keep it that way. Now what could have been going on there do you think?.
  2. A friend of mine advocates a loop road taking all ''foreigners'' on a one way system back out of Norfolk at Thetford........and rebuilding of the City wall. (I think their are still a lot of people like that in Norfolk).
  3. I am rather enjoying seeing these big clubs ''struggling'' (clearly the term is relative). I think the whole league will eat itself in time, and just what the greedy lot deserve in my op. Maybe a real competion with more clubs in with a chance will eventually emerge in the coming years. Not holding my breath though!
  4. OK, it is now. Think i was pressing the ''post button above message box rather than one under the icons. Is it just me that finds this confusing.....clearly my age
  5. I know i''m in a minority of one here, but i quite like Palace (....a bit anyway). Mostly cos they are one of those London clubs always trying to keep up with their more ilustrious (almost certainly spelt wrong) London neighbours, and because i always remember years ago, some of their fans coming over to compliment us on how well Norwich had played on one visit to Selhurst Park, and that they really liked Norwich and our great support. They didn''t have to do this, but it was really nice at the time. Also, i was in Yarmouth in the Summer, and spoke to some Palace fans who were on holiday, but very much keeping up to date with events back at their club when it appeared it might have gone under. They were great lads, and i really felt for what they were going through, and was very pleased for them when they heard some good news whilst i was chatting to them. No one wanted to see a club go to the wall. They actually saw me again later in the afternoon, and were eager to let me have more details on what had happened that day regarding their club being saved from extinction......so i don''t hate them.
  6. Is it just me being hopefull, or are we actually starting to see the start of something very exciting for the club at long last. I know we have just got promoted, so obviously this could account for sme of my optimism. And i know we have all heard the ''words'' from the club before, only to be dissapointed. However with Lambert in charge, and a good ''positive'' chief exec, who is very credible, unlike the last one, we seem to be serious at last. The appointment of the new Chief Scout, also seems very encouraging. i.e. someone with a proven track record, and no longer just ''jobs for the boys'' for ex city stars etc. Also getting some early success in the transfer market, and talk of an eventual increase in capacity at Carrow Road, once we can afford it, all seems prety positive. Hope i will still be feeling this way by Christmas!
  7. Mine''s from Sunderland (All her family support them)
  8. I usually watch this show on a Sunday morning on iplayer. For some reason, this morning its not available! (The one time i really wanted to see it) Anyone else found this?
  9. i remember tha game in 85. Touch and go we were gonna get to game. I didn''t drive at time and went on coach. When i got back to Norwich, i couldn''t get anyone to meet me as i lived 9 miles out in countryside and roads were so bad. Ended up walking home the 9 miles and kept slipping over cos the road was like glass!! Oh, and got home about a couple of hours before i had to be up to start work at 7.30 am!! Remember i ddn''t care though, cos i was on such a high at get to semi finals (and those games agains you know who!!) Exiting days!!
  10. I think i''m being v real COLUFAN. I wouldn''t condone anyone punching anyone. And for that matter, i don''t think the majority of City fans would look to do that. Thats not the Norwich way. But i do think they will seek access to your ground in greater numbers than you might think. Some will get in, others won''t. But it will all cause unnecessary friction and potential for serious incidents. I do put blame on shouldrrs of your guy, should anything happen, because i think he is letting a grudge against our club get in the way of clear thinking. (Business should be business, and other factors should be put to one side). Of course he wants maximum support from his own fans, but he is letting this get in the way of the ''fact'' he is unlikely to fill ground with his own fans, but could maximise income from the game for the benefit of his club, by giving a larger away allocation. (Don''t tell me there is loads more time to sell those tickets - How many have already gone to Norwich fans using local postcodes). He is also clearly unconcerned at the potential for trouble and is stokeing it up, at the expense of possibly causing unnecesary work for the essex police to cope with let alone anyone else who might get caught up....Oh and that includes inocent law abiding fans of either club, ok to sacrifice that.....I would not take my kids to a match with potential of trouble around me in the stands, and that is what i meant when i said about Col u fans staying away. Clearly there is a ''big difference'' in the mind of your chairman to how he is allocating away tickets for this match to how he would have done had there not been ''issues'' between the clubs, and that is just plain stupid, for the reasons stated above. For the record, i have nothing against Col u fc or its fans. I understand you were upset at losing a good manager, but it happens. Its happened to us a few times, and will go on happening up and down the country. Compensation will be sorted out eventually, and there should be no need for all this pettiness.
  11. I am really quite concerned that thee could be big problems at this game as a result of what Col U Chairman has said. Clearly rightly or wrongly, many city fans will se it as their mission to take up seats in the ''home'' area of the ground. I understand the comments from Colchester fans as to how they will be turned out etc, but (and i may be wrong) i think the scale of this may surprise people. Norwich Fans don''t like being treated unfairly and i think regardless of the ''risks'' will come to Colchester on the day of the match with tickets in the home areas. Make no mistake. This has been prompted/inflamed/caused by the Colchester chairman, and i hope he will be able to stand up and take the blame at whatever may occur either at the ground or in the town on the day. I don''t in anyway condone trouble, and its so sad that this man is intent on taking this stance. Far from saying he welcomes all true 100% col u fans for the game, i would say to those fans, it might be wiser to stay away, as your man could cause things to get ugly....Although i hope it doesn''t happen. (I would actually urge anyone intent on trouble to think again and stay away for sake of their club - whichever one.....but blame lies with Col u chairman if they don''t).
  12. I wonder if Col is deliberately hoping to stir up trouble at the game, so he can blame Norwich for crowd trouble as well as all the other ills of his silly little world. If thats the case i would say, what sort of a man puts his own fans safety / enjoyment on the line to prove ''get his own back''. Not much respect there for his fans.
  13. Who else thinks this is going to be toughest match we have had for a while? They seem to right on form now and we need to give a good performance next week to get something i think. Our record down there is not v good to say the least. How do people think we will get on in that one?
  14. Took my eldest boy to Carrow Road at 5. He sat through first half, but was a bit bored in second half (was 1 1 draw with Milwall). Thought i had put him off, but was v surprised when he asked to go again. (Think he also liked taking train into Norwich). However he then got really into it and really enjoyed going for a couple of seasons. (Went to Leicester and Ipswich away too) We havn''t been much this year due to not having cash to go, and my wife working weekends so have to look after his 4 year old brother.....So should i start taking him as well, so we all can go?
  15. I''m in Wymoondham. There are lots of fans here (as well as of all the other usual teams you would expect). Easy to get to games from here. Train only takes 15 mins and then 10 min walk and good bus service (though goes around houses a bit in Hethersett). No problem if you have a car with A11 into City. If you want to watch footie on telly (sky etc) You can go to Queens Head, Robert Kett in North Wymondham, or the Snooker Club. (Its nice there...membership club but v reasonable, and never any trouble, just good banter from fans of all teams. Welcome to Wymondham!
  16. At moment you wouldn''t bet against it would you. From our point of view, we need to keep it going. I don''t want to get carried away just yet. I fear Swindon could be a tough nut to crack, and lets face it after national TV coverage, there will be a lot of teams coming to carrow Rd to put 11 men behind the ball, and say break us down - never easy however good you are. But we ought to be up to the task. From them down the road''s chances, i honestly think they are delusional if they believe RK will turn it around. I think complacency is their worst enemy, (and as an NCFC fan, i''m enjoying every minute of it!) We have been there and bought the t shirt, and now its their turn. At moment i would say promotion for them is now dead and buried. If they are where they are now at Christmas, i believe it would take a minor miracle to save them. So we could well be swapping places. I''ve been invited to join the ITFC relegation party on facebook.Anyone else want to join?
  17. Found this post really interesting. I think most of reasons covered above. I started going to games in early eighties, and i distictly remember club saying they wern''t getting enough people through the gate (Bond era). If we got 17000 - 18000, it was a good day! - I was studying A levels at time at sixth form, and i remember football was just not cool for want of a better word. It was considered something working class people did and was full of thugs who just wanted a fight (skin heads if you like). As my sixth form was very ''left wing, and people politically active etc.Football fans were almost an enemy cos they were seen as racists. It wasn''t easy being a fan and also a student - not cool at all. Added to that you got Maggie almost trying to ban the game, she disliked it so much, and falling attendancies evertwhere. I didn''t care. I simply loved the game, the atmosphere, and the ''lift'' it gave me from the ''real world''. Then footie became cool and middle classes started going, and everything changed. (including a lot of genuine traditional supporters being priced out). All seater stadia took over and it all coincided with the internet arriving and sky telly and the premiership. I think Norwich capitalised on all this, and Andy Cullen''s contribution cannot be understated here. Once you are hooked, there is nothing like football to give you that ''feel good'' feeling. I still get goose bumps when the yellow and green team runs out on the pitch and i hope i never lose that feeling.
