1. I think we might be Clutching at straws with this one but would be good if we could get him on Board
2. SYG and junojrs, you have both hit the nail on the head. People need to get over themselves. NCFC are not Barcelona. Believe it or not most players won''t drop everything to sign for this holy club. We''re no longer a star attraction like we were in League 1, and to a certain extent the Championship. The game has changed, which means players lot Toivonen''s calibre will have a number of interesting options to look at. I''m sure he''s doing his research on us now and if he signs will be a committed player for us. He''s doing the right thing taking his time, moving to another country is a big deal.
3. I have English, Welsh, Scottish, Spanish, German and French bloodlines.... But born in England, raised in England, and with a clear English accent, I consider myself English. I take into account the other bloodlines, especially the Spanish as that appears to have had the strongest genetic influence on me, but if I was a footballer I would choose to play for England. If I''m asked my nationality when travelling I always say English.
4. Some good points made, I can''t wait for next season to start with so many changes being made amongst the "bigger" sides. It''s going to be fascinating to see how it all pans out. Not sure I entirely agree on the importance of Suarez and Rooney though, arguably big players for their teams who can win a game single handedly, but I feel Liverpool and Man utd could cope fine without either. For example, Liverpool, without Suarez, were undefeated in their final 4 games of last season (winning 3 and drawing 1), with Sturridge scoring 5 goals and Coutinho causing all kinds of problems. Even Henderson started looking like a player. Their 6-0 demolition of Newcastle (away) demonstrated that they have the ability to function well as a team without the antics of Suarez. As for Man Utd, who knows how they will perform under Moyes, but if Rooney leaves I truly believe they have a ready made replacement in Kagawa (that''s if they don''t shell out for Bale). He was played out of position for most of last season, but if played in his attacking midfield role he could become world class (his ex manager Klopp already believes he is). We saw what he did against us anyway. All ifs and buts of course, and you''re right it could all pan out in favour for one or two "lesser teams". Personally I would love to see Arsenal strengthen and make a march on the title, if only to change things up a bit. Their form in the latter half of last season was very good. The biggest losers could be Everton.
5. Has good acceleration going forward, I like him.
6. If Holt leaves (unlikely) and he Number 9 shirt then this is possible.. "Ricky''s alive, he''ll score every time He''s on the hunt he''s after you His goals are sublime, our number nine And he''s hungry like the wolf Do do do do do do do dodo dododo dodo!" Or something to that effect The Duran Duran idea is good in principle but I''m not convinced it will catch on. Would love it too though...
7. I have a Swedish friend and she is incredibly blunt. She will just say "do this", with no please, no thanks or anything. They don''t say such words, unlike us Brits who are famous for our politeness. If Toivonen has come across a bit blunt then it could be cultural. I actually like the sound of this Toivonen bloke anyway, at least he is being honest and it doesn''t surprise me if he hasn''t heard of the mighty NCFC. He''s doing the right thing taking some time to reach his decision, it''s what most normal people do, especially if it involves moving country.
8. Actually, flows better without the "he''s" on line 3. Could see drunk City fans tripping up on it... So... Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky Ricky van Wolfswinkel... van Wolfswinkel, van Wolfswinkeeeelllllll! Scoring goals is easy when yelllow and green, He''s yellow and green, he''s yellow and greee----eeee---eeen! ?
9.

Simply to the tune of Karma Chameleon, like the old Jon Otsemobor chant, "Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky Ricky van Wolfswinkel...van Wolfswinkel, van Wolfswinkeeeelllllll!"
How about an extension on this Johnny?:Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky Ricky van Wolfswinkel...van Wolfswinkel, van Wolfswinkeeeelllllll!Scoring goals is so easy when he''s playing in yelllow and green,Yellow and green, yellow and greee----eeee---eeenand repeat.I''m pretty sure somebody more lyrically inclined could tidy that third line up. But I''m loving the fourth line.
Good effort. How about this? Bit less of a mouthful so more likely to catch on Ricky, Ricky, Ricky, Ricky Ricky van Wolfswinkel... van Wolfswinkel, van Wolfswinkeeeelllllll! Scoring goals is easy when he''s yelllow and green, He''s yellow and green, he''s yellow and greee----eeee---eeen
10. Here is the article saying he takes meds hyperlinked, forgot you had to do that on this forum [link]http://news.sky.com/story/1099914/stephen-fry-reveals-2012-suicide-attempt[/link]
11. He''s on meds now after his recent suicide attempt, full story here http://news.sky.com/story/1099914/stephen-fry-reveals-2012-suicide-attempt The world would be a more boring place without Stephen Fry, the man is a national treasure. I hope he''s making a good recovery.
12. Bit of a weird one this. The Australian government are strict with handing out permanent visas at the best of times. Whats the deal with sportsman? Could Holt actually look upon this as a permament move with his kids in mind?
13. can u sit down please My thought in regards to your post: If we really did go for it and punish teams like Newcastle and QPR and gained the points which would have seen us safe early, would we have performed to the level that we did in the last 2 games? Look teams whose seasons finished prematurely. Swansea with 1 win in their last 10. West Brom, 2 wins in their last 10. We may have replicated what they did and tailed off towards the end, or maybe not. My feeling is that balance was regained during the last 2 games, the players found a new sense of freedom with the reintroduction of Ruddy, so were motivated to play free flowing football. There may not have been a huge difference with regards to league position if we adopted a more attacking intent against lesser teams during our slump, motivation may have tailed off towards if end if we gained those extra points.
14. So the season is only 17 games long for you, interesting.... And as I said, the last 2 games demonstrated what this team can do under pressure, you can''t ignore that, it''s all part of the bigger picture.
15. quote user - Matt Juler "If I was talking about the whole season I''d include all 38 games but I''m not, that''s my point! In my mind the last two games have painted a false picture of the second half of the season, but very few people seem to appreciate this logic." Hardly paints a false picture, our form changed in the last 2 games, just like how form fluctuates over 38 games for any team. Teams go through good spells and bad spells. Also, I''d argue it actually changed over the last 5 games, we gained 3 wins in 5 games and were unlucky to lose against Villa imo. Also, the last 2 games demonstrated how well this team can perform with our backs against the wall. We are made of sterner stuff. You cannot ignore that. It''s part of the bigger picture of this football club. No false picture being painted there at all!
16. My god, some of the stuff written in this thread is pretty distasteful "People should lose the weight just so they can fit into the shirt" How idealistic. If life was that simple. If only. So many reasons why people are overweight; genetics, depression, an illness, drugs. You might think these people are lazy, but more often then not the problems lurk far deeper under the surface, you can''t judge soley on appearances. It takes a lot more than the want of wearing a Norwich City football shirt for these people to be able to lose the weight. If it''s physiological, then it might be incredibly difficult. If it''s psychological then perhaps a therapist/counsellor is needed (although that is hard on the NHS due to long waiting lists and limited number of allocated sessions of CBT). We live in a pretty sick society, the UK has somewhat high rates of depression compared other countries which are continually on the rise every year. Coincidently there is a strong correlation with obesity being on the rise. Next time an overweight person sits next to you, perhaps have an open mind and consider that that person could be sad, lonely, have depression, an illness, a genetic disorder or whatever that is causing their obesity or behaviour. Some empathy couldn''t go amiss instead of feeling disgusted by them. Yes you might think they''re lazy, but I have overweight friends who appear lazy on the surface, but dig a little deeper with their psychology and something is missing inside. Well done Loopzilla for standing your ground, I agree with what you have said although I think you''re fighting a losing battle on here. From an underweight skinny 6 footer.
17. He currently earns 65k a week so is it even worth discussing?
18. Well I guess as we''ve actually won a football match certain people have to find something pointless to moan about. The only people who dislike this tactic need to look at themselves, not the players. You''re just annoyed that you had to be subjected to boring football for 3 minutes and didn''t get to celebrate a 3rd goal. I''m sure the players and manager don''t share your view. I can''t see how winning.a football match by means of keeping a ball in a corner will effect the players confidence. What a load of rubbish. The lads would have all be on a high in the dressing room after the game. All of them, 3 points, job done. I doubt any of the forwards would have been thinking "oh damn, I wish I scored a 3rd goal in injury time then we''d be feeling even more confident...", what a selfish thought pattern that would be. Or Hughton thinking "great win, oh but only if we risked our lead and Premier league survival amd attacked for that 3rd goal in injury time then our confidence would have been even higher...". No, don''t think so. This isn''t about gambling needlessly. I think everyone will be satisfied and be going to Stoke feeling confident regardless. A win is a win. I would have loved to have seen a 3rd goal like anyone in the ground, but it''s not about my interest, it''s about the teams. Yes it was dull keeping the ball I''m the corner but it was necessary to gain the 3 points. Holt and Kamara did this very well, they had the teams interest at heart. Well played the pair of them.
19. Would love him here but wages would be the issue. He''ll prob sign for West Ham if he doesn''t get his desired move back to Newcastle.
20. quote user="It''s Character Forming" That was exactly how I saw the miss against Swansea. If only Snoddy has played it into the space ahead of Kei. Same, from the upper Barclay it looked like a poorly placed and weak pace from Snoddy. It definitely needed more pace anyway. Ps. Spot on post by Eric Gates!
21. I agree with Aggy in the sense that we need to buy someone to play off a main striker, a goal scoring support striker like Michu (hard to find at a cheap price I know). That way Hughton can play his one up front and still have someone who can score goals playing behind. Still, I think we should sign Kamara, he does add something different. That''s important in this league, you need options. I would much rather have Kamara on our bench than any of Becchio, Vaughan, Jackson, Martin etc. I''m just wondering whether Hughton might cash in on Becchio over the summer, it''s a bit harsh but he obviously doesn''t rate him. So RVW, Holt, Kamara and a goalscoring support striker. I''d like to see this! It would be nice to have 5 forwards including Becchio, but there''s not much point if Hughton doesn''t play him.
22. Yup, was without doubt one of the most boring matches ever, was there even 3 passes strung together all game? If I had the money I''d go, it would actually be one of the few games in my lifetime where I''d be delighted if it finished 0-0. Good luck, please don''t die of boredom! :-)
23. lappinitup - Indeed I have, that was a quality pass to Benno which led to Snods goal vs Swansea. So he has been very much involved in all of our last 6 goals. The facts speak for themselves. So as you say, what is there not to like?
24. You''re both brave, the Stoke vs Norwich match nearly put me in a coma last season! :)
