1. I don''t think anybody here is crying Robert (well, not many anyway), we just feel sad. And yes loads of players leave all the time, but Grant Holt was a one off, hence the special reaction he is getting to his departure.
2. quote user Robert Barnes "I may live in Canada now,but I was born in Norwich,Watched hundreds of games and have lived trough things like this before. All I am saying is this was expected sooner or later it does no good to get so upset over it it''s done lets carry on.Agreed hotly is and will be a legend. Now we can look forward to having new players that will become legends also" Yes but you have never watched Holt live, so how do you know how people feel? You don''t. You may have seen other players leave but they weren''t Grant Holt and they probably didn''t drag the club from the hell hole to the dizzy heights of the Premier League like he did. And it does no good getting so upset over something you care about? Gosh I''d hate to like life advice from you. That''s like saying "you''re not allowed to grieve, put that to one side and move on". Feeling emotions is an important part of life. It''s how you grow as a person. People here (me included) will feel sad for a bit and then gain perspective. It''s natural. People feel sad because Grant Holt meant something to them. He meant something to me because he brought me so many happy memories on the football pitch. It''s like losing a friend who you cared about, you feel sad for a while and eventually move on. Have you never felt those feelings before or are you really that hollow? Anyway, just found this video (link below) and it made me smile. This is what he is going back to by moving up north, his girls. He says in the video he hasn''t seen them for 10 days which must be quite tough at times for a parent. At least now he gets to spent more quality time with them. Good luck Grant! http://youtu.be/cs_kTerOPtY
3.
We should start a thread every time he scores a goal, just like folks did with Cody, bemoaning how it was a mistake to let him go.[:)]
Ha! you can guarantee people will, brace yourself... ;) I''ll probably develop some strange morbid interest in Wigan now. I love watching Holty play so will be looking out for how well he does there (very well I hope!).
4. I''m with GP on this. The whole disliking Murray because "he has no personality" or because "he''s scottish" is irritating. I swear only in Britain could we produce a world class sportsman and find a lame reason to dislike him/her. I actually can''t understand why anyone wouldn''t like Murray. He seems like a decent down to earth guy with a decent family who works really hard to achieve success. He''s passionate and a good role model for our youth I''d say. So what if he doesn''t smile much, he''s a sportsman, not a comedian! Apparently off the court he''s actually a jokey and popular chap. He''s just guarded in front of the media after he got screwed over by that hack who took his "anyone but the English" banter with Henman out of context and splashed it over the tabloids. As for the Scottish thing, that just baffles me. He''s primarily Scottish and then British. I''m primarily English and then British. Both our passports say the United Kingdom of Great Britain. He enjoys us supporting him, I enjoy supporting him, so what''s the big deal? It doesn''t seem to be an issue when the Olympics are on when all the English support Chris Hoy or the Scots support Jessica Ennis etc! Here''s hoping he wins more grand slams. Well done Murray!
5. quote user = Indy_Bones "No, it goes to show that in your incredibly truncated set of options, only the minority would look to move Holt on, whereas if you''d said"Holt to be sold for 7 mil - Keep or Sell", I think you''d find it would be a VERY different result...It''s all about the question being asked and HOW it''s being asked, and the answers we''ve had don''t surprise me, but that also prove jack all in the process as well due to total lack of any detail..." Bloody heck, talk about taking the gloss off! It was just a simple question, keep or sell? Just to see if people are backing Holt or not. People are intelligent enough to know what Holt would be sold for (£2-4m) so can easily categorise themselves in the "keep or sell" camp. There would be NO point asking the question you just suggested - "Holt to be sold for £7m, keep or sell" because no club are going to offer us that! Not a realistic suggestion is it? It''s like asking "Ruddy to be sold for £20m, keep or sell". Of course that will skew the results of a poll because the question is not realistic!!
6. Partial to Man U. My dad was a massive Man U fan and desperately tried to convert me but I remained defiant and am Norwich through and through. Still, some of his enthusiasm rubbed off on me and I enjoy watching them.
7. For a moment I thought the OP was trolling but then I remembered such bitter and twisted Norwich fans really do exist. Just tune in to Canary Call after a match.
8. I think it''s a good effort. Not van Ginkel though, van der Vaart maybe
9. I hear you, but I am wondering if the 5m could be put towards somebody younger? I agree that 5m represents good value if he can score 30 goals over 3 seasons, but personally I feel the money would be better invested in somebody like Hooper.
10.

put your money where your mouth is - 25-30 premiership goals.
And if that''s your genuine expectation of RVW, then I''d suggest that your mouth is firmly located in your posterior...Only a handful of players are good enough to hit that many goals a season, and 99% of that handful will do it for a top 6 club with world class players giving them the ammunition. These season alone, only Van Persie managed that amount, with just Bale and Suarez even scoring above 20, and all three of them are at top clubs. Last season it was only Van Persie and Rooney to hit that amount, with Aguero being the sole played besides them above 20 - and again, they''re all at top clubs. Not to mention that all of these players are worth in excess of 25-30 million (or close to 85-100 if you buy into the Bale hype), and not closer to 8 million...Your suggestion is beyond ridiculous, and whilst I think it''s perfectly plausible that RVW could hit 15 or more, a base yardstick of 12 isn''t unfair or too low, for a player coming into a totally new league (and of a higher standard) and in a team that has some good players, but is more focused on team based results than individually outstanding players. So wind your neck in pal, and either be more reasonable, or simply don''t bother to respond if that''s the sort of tosh you''re going to come out with...
Well said. Some Norwich fans scare me. I fear if RVW doesn''t crack 20 goals+ next season certain fans will be on his back labelling him an expensive flop!! The Premier League isn''t easy, so lets be realistic here. 12-15 goals and the boy has done well.
11. Why do people here keep quoting Holt''s age as 33? He''s 32 and doesn''t turn 33 till April next year. Unsure about Kone, I wasn''t that impressed with him last season so not sure he''s worth the money at 29.
12. quote user Jonzey "Josh, you summed it up perfectly with your earlier post. Nail on the head. It really does beggar belief some of my fellow supporters want Holt out. I believe he''s as good now as he''s ever been and has shown no sign at all of fading. Next season he will give 100% in every second of every match he plays, as he always has done. He''s a match winner, he''s the club captain and he knows how to score goals from nothing. Give him a role to play and he will deliver for us yet again." Yup agreed. If we play to his strengths (I.e., attacking formation) then I believe he will be motivated and perform to a high standard. People have been writing Holt off every season since he has joined us but he keeps proving people wrong. Admittedly he''ll probably get less game time next season but he''d make a great sub and I''m sure there will be many games (especially at home) where we will play 2 up top. Who wouldn''t want to see Holt and RVW playing together? Sounds mouth watering to me.
13. quote user The Pink''un Role Model - "Therefore it all begs the question. If a club going into a 3rd top tier season, has a striker who scores 10 goals. Is the number he scores good enough?" It is in RVW and co chip in too, and we keep a sufficient amount of clean sheets. For example, Everton finished 6th last season, but their top goalscorer was Fellaini on 11, followed by Jelavic on 7.
14. Any other suggestions guys? I''ll add in one more, to the tune of "No Limit" by 2 Unlimited. 2 Unlimited are a Dutch group which would be fitting for our new Dutch superstar! He would probably appreciate it. "Ricky, Ricky Ricky, Ricky Ricky Ricky van Wolfswinkel!" If we sign Toivonen we could even add in another verse "Ola, Ola Ola, Ola Ola, Ola Ola Toivonen!" It''s so simple even the shy Jarrold people could join in. Throw in a wolf howl too of course!

16. ARCHIEGEMMELL We are already evolving to the next stage with the acquisition of RVW, which could see us finish top half next season. My point is why dump an 8 goal a season striker for 2m? He''s good enough. Finding strikers who score goals in the Premier Leave is not that easy, just ask David Moyes when he was at Everton. I take your point, Holt may not want to be a bench warmer, or maybe he will thrive from the competition? Who knows. It just seems ridiculous that our fans want him out! I don''t know where to find Long and Holt''s minutes played, but Long had 25 starts and 9 sub appearances, and Holt 28 starts and 6 sub appearances. Admittedly Holt had 3 more starts, but Long played in a more attacking team. So yes, West Brom finished top half last season, which would next stage of evolution for this club yes? West Brom finished 8th with Lukaku and Long, so why not Norwich with RVW and Holt?
17. Jim Smith "Holt interviewed at end of season raised the spectacle of him possibly leaving. Aussie team interest leaked to press. Talksport running stories about how they understand clubs interested and now these latest stories containing quotes from sources close to Holt. This is all coming from his agent" Jim, I can understand how you''ve reached this conclusion but in your original post you said that it was Holt agitating for a move and "very definitely" his doing. Whether you think it''s his doing, or his agents, you''re still making assumptions. There''s no hard evidence to suggest Holt or his agent are involved in these stories. Who knows where they are coming from? Papers can print any old rubbish. Perhaps Palace have put that story out to unsettle Holt? I prefer to not believe a word of what Talksport say, and Holt didnt say he was leaving as such in his end of season interview. Admittedly Holt has done his reputation no favours after last seasons transfer request, but at this stage there is no hard evidence to suggest he wants out. I''m glad to hear you''d like to see Holt stay though, we definitely agree on that :)
18. It makes me laugh that people think Holt had a "very bad" year last season, despite scoring 8 goals in a defensive minded team. Lets put this into perspective, Holt outscored or matched the likes of: Torres, Papiss Cisse, Carroll, Jelavic, Sessegnon, Welbeck, Bent, Crouch, Graham, Anichebe, Shane Long and Jay Rodriguez. Now tell me, how much are those above players worth? How many of them would you like to see play for Norwich? I''d bet most of them. Carroll just sold for 15m+. Newcastle want 25m for Cisse. Barcelona are apparently offerering 17m for Torres. How many Norwich fans have banged on about wanting the "amazing" Shane Long? Loads. And he scored 8 goals last year in a more attacking team. Jelavic? Graham? Bent? Anichebe? They would all sell for 5m+. Sessegnon? 10m+. Rodriguez? 7m+. Now I''m sorry to break it to people here but the Premier League is NOT an easy league!! We''ve just been spoilt with the amount of goals our club and Holt in particular have scored prior to last season. Put it this way, the likes of Kevin Davies were greatly appreciated by the Bolton fans despite him rarely scoring more than yes, 8 goals a season. Yes he was a grafter, but so is Holt. Yes Holt had a bad blip after the new year but so do many striker, gosh, including all those names I mentioned above!! Strikers struggle for form at times, they get frustrated and angry as they live for goals, even our Grant. What do people here expect? seriously? Hopefully we will get our 15 goal a season striker in RVW. But sell Holt for 2m? are people here actually being serious? 2m for our captain and top goal scorer from the past 4 seasons? If Palace pulled that off they''d be laughing. Oh but...I hear you say, he''s 32! He''s past it!! Holt''s game does not rely on pace, it never has done, he''s still got a good few years left in him yet. Play an attacking formation and Grant Holt will score goals, much like the 3 goals in his final 4 games of last season when we were playing more offensive, Our fans begged belief at times. What must opposition fans think we they hear that we want Hughton (who kept up a budget team) and our top goalscorer (and 3 times player of the year) out of this club? Ungrateful whinging sods, that''s what.
19. Jim Smith wrote "Must say though I am getting fed up with Holt agitating for a move. These stories and any speculation is very definitely coming from him and its not the sort of thing I expect from our club captain! " Based on what evidence? Sounds like you''re speculating as much as the Daily Mirror!
