  1. Sounds like we’re doing quite well. Not threatening them but if by chance we did manage to get something out of this game I think the Reds would go red in the face
  2. Leeds getting fined for spying on their next opponents’ training?
  3. I find it hard to decide on some of the players. If it’s 3 at the back who partners Hanley and Gibson? I know Zimbo’s no good for us anymore but I’m not convinced Omobamidele’s ready - yes he did great for us last season but he only played a few games and only because Gibson got injured so has barely any first team experience. I even think Sorensen might possibly be used Gilmour, Lees-Melou, Rashica, and Pukki will all start, and Cantwell if he’s back from injury. Dowell will start if it’s 3 behind Pukki but if it’s 2 and Cantwell’s available I think he’ll probably be on the bench. If Tzolis gets announced in time I think he’ll be on the bench
  4. I think most of the people who reckon we’ll go straight back down only think that because we haven’t spent big (~£100m) on new signings. Breaking the bank is not always the answer to PL survival, as Fulham have proved twice. Villa also spent £140m on new signings and only just scraped survival. On the BBC website Phil McNulty has predicted us to just scrape survival, because he reckons we’ve learnt a bit from our last PL season and thinks we’ve made some great new signings (Gilmour + Rashica). Lees-Melou is also looking great, and Tzolis sounds great. We do also now have a lot more PL/other national first tier experience in our side from our last season, when we had barely any before.
  5. I do believe Hugill will go this summer. I think it’s harsh to call him a poor signing though. I think main reason why he didn’t do much for us was because he wasn’t first choice (he said he knew he’d be behind Pukki when he signed) and Farke tended to make late substitutions (it’s just like expecting Pukki to score inside the first 10/15 minutes). There was a brief spell when Pukki and Idah were both out though, and I think he did do quite well for us then. I do think he was a decent Championship backup signing but I think it is best to get rid of him this summer as I can’t see him cutting it in the PL
  6. Yes. Placheta was a bench warmer last season and may even become a wing back instead. Hernandez did great in the 18/19 season but didn’t cut it in the PL last time, though probably due to having no experience. Last season he didn’t cut it in the Championship despite doing great previously, though was out injured for a long period. To be honest I don’t think we’ll ever see him like he was in the 18/19 season again
  7. I’m very unconvinced by his statistics but there must be something about him that could make him a good signing, otherwise Webber wouldn’t have signed him. Hopefully I’ll be proven wrong
  8. I think last time they visited Carrow Road they only beat us 1-0, taking a long time to find the net. Let’s not forget that this season we have more PL experience in the squad, and I think our new signings this time (Giannoulis, Gibson, Lees-Melou, Gilmour, Rashica) are a lot better than last time (Byram, Amadou, Roberts, Drmic). Robertson is also a major doubt for the Reds, though I don’t know if Cantwell is still a possible doubt for us Although overall I’m still convinced it will end up as a 3-1 defeat, like others have said I do believe this could turn out to be the equivalent of when Man City last visited
  9. The feel the league is very unpredictable at the start of the season but what we must remember is that every game is winnable, as we proved in our home fixture against Man City last time round. Here’s my views on some of the fixtures: - I think Liverpool only beat us 1-0 last time they visited, with Robertson a major injury doubt this time (although Cantwell’s a possible doubt for us). I’m convinced we’ll lose though - I think we drew with Leicester away and beat them at home last time. They’ve also lost a CB to a broken leg in pre-season. I think we stand a chance of at least a draw - I think we drew with Everton away last time. I think we stand a chance of doing it again - I think we stand a fairly decent chance of beating Watford, Burnley, and Brighton I do believe we will get at least 9 points from the first 10, possibly even 12
  10. I would put either: Krul Aarons Hanley Gibson Giannoulis Gilmour Lees-Melou Rashica Dowell Cantwell Pukki or: Krul Zimmerman Hanley Gibson Aarons Gilmour Lees-Melou Giannoulis Rashica Cantwell Pukki
  11. Since Farke announced that Drmic, Trybull, and Leitner weren’t in his plans last summer none of them have made a first team appearance, with Leitner having his contract terminated this summer. If we can’t get Trybull out this summer I do believe he may get his contract terminated as well Klose was out on loan with an option to buy last season. If we can’t get him out this summer I do believe there is a slim possibility he might be kept as an emergency CB as Farke is yet to say that he’s not in his plans, but to be honest I can’t even see him making the bench again unless we’re plagued with injuries
  12. Their target is to win the PL? I reckon they’ll be spending about £500m this summer then. To be honest I can only see them fighting for PL survival like us
  13. Lambert called the cup an “ugly distraction” but Farke takes the cup seriously. I didn’t mind our cup run two years ago, as with relegation obvious it was something to enjoy. A good cup run does not help with the league, as Leeds proved in our League One season. I wasn’t alive in 1985, but I’ve read that we got relegated that season - I seem to recall there have been some other teams who have also reached a cup final and suffered from relegation since then If we were a team regularly challenging for a top half finish/possible spot for Europe then I would like a fairly decent cup run, as we’d be expected to do reasonably well and it would be embarrassing to go out to an average Championship side or lower. This season I don’t give a toss about how well we do. We need to concentrate solely on survival and like Mid-Norfolk has said, a PL team not in Europe will play just about all their fixtures seven days apart if they make an early cup exit, allowing more time for training and fatigue recovery. A lot of you have probably heard about that Leicester player who got a broken leg in a pre-season friendly. How would you like it if Pukki played in our first cup fixture and suffered from the same outcome? Here is my possible XI for the league: Krul Aarons Hanley Gibson Giannoulis Gilmour Lees-Melou Rashica Dowell Cantwell Pukki And here is my possible XI for the cup: Gunn Mumba Omobamidele Zimmerman Byram Rupp Sorensen Hernandez McLean Placheta Idah Any more players we sign (eg Tzolis or Sargent) I would also give a go in our first cup fixture
  14. I have to say I'm very unconvinced by Sargent. The €10m we're believed to be spending on him seems a bit too much to me for a striker who doesn't have a great goal scoring record. I know we're not going to afford proven PL strikers and whoever we sign will just be backup, but if Sargent is deemed good enough then I think we might as well have not sent Soto on loan or gone for an average Championship striker. Hope I'm proven wrong though, and if we're going for him then surely Farke/Webber must know something about him that makes them think he would be a good addition to the squad
  15. Webber has stated we are in no financial situation to need to sell players this summer. Cantwell is also a homegrown player. Why don’t they offer Messi a two year deal? Another winger, free agent, not proven in the Premier League but well proven in La Liga and the Champions League. That’s if even they can afford his what is it - £400k p/w salary?
  16. Can’t see Man City signing a 34 year old on a ridiculous salary, otherwise they would have offered Aguero a new deal. Can’t see PSG signing him after the French tv deal collapsed either. If he goes to an English club I can only see it being Villa, considering the amount they seem to be willing to spend this summer. I think the USA or China is probably most likely, as that’s where big names wanting big salaries tend to go towards the end of their careers
  17. Surely you’d agree that Villa stand a much higher chance of doing better than us this season, possibly making Europe as well? I think he stands a better chance of playing for his country at Villa than at us, as I think they are a stronger PL team than us
  18. Yes, but why was it only at the end of the season when he’d won both our and the Championship POTS awards? He wasn’t playing at a high enough level, to play for Argentina you need to be playing in the PL, preferably in the Champions/Europa leagues as well
  19. I don’t think Buendia has gone solely for the money. If Grealish went to Man City it would be to win silverware, as Villa are reportedly offering him a new £200k p/w contract. I think Buendia has also gone in the hope of getting capped for Argentina, as he’s said wants to play for his country. Also the possibility of playing in Europe, as I think Villa stand a high chance of qualifying for it this season, even without Grealish
  20. We’re obviously not going to be able to afford proven PL strikers, and I don’t think we can afford Armstrong for £20m. The report that says we’ve also included Idah in the deal (unknown whether it’s loan or permanent) I find hard to believe as we’re currently looking to sign another striker and can’t see us letting Idah go as he’s in Farke’s plans for this season. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s Hugill though Although Armstrong’s not proven in the PL he’s well proven in the Championship and at 24 he would be an ideal replacement for Pukki, who will be 32 next March

  22. Yes - it feel really sorry for the players who concede penalties when the attacker has just kicked the ball at their arm or had let themselves fall over. I also feel really sorry for the attackers who have had offsides given against them by just a few millimetres We all wanted this introduced, but all those ridiculous offside decisions being given soon started driving everyone mad
  23. I’m very pleased. With the ridiculous offsides by a toenail etc I doubt the attacker had any idea they were offside
