  1. Newcastle are yet to win under Benitez whilst we''ve kept clean sheets in our last 2 games, 1 being against a top 4 team and the other being an away win. Newcastle are also have the worst away goal record this season - 7 scored from their 15 games. I think we will win but I have to say that I''m bloody nervous about us and the next 3 games because of the importance of them

  2. I think it''s 50:50 at the moment. Villa are definates for the drop in my opinion but I think there''s too many games left to decide on us. Yes the teams around us have signed new players but I think Naismith could be the key for us. I''m just hoping we don''t have a repeat of the same case with Naismith as there was with Ashton in 2005 (it was believed that had we signed Ashton in the summer we would of stayed up)

I think you need to wait for at least 4 more games before you can start predicting how we will finish

  3. The league is by far more important to us than the cup at the moment. What would you prefer - a Norwich team that survives every cup round or the Premiership? We need to be fully focused on the league, as do all the teams around us. If the team manages to get back to the strength of the squad of the early 90''s, then that''s when we should do better. In my opinion there was nothing embarrassing about this result

  4. I''d be stunned if Villa managed to survive this season but as has been said a lot in this thread, look at Leicester. You can''t write a team off until it''s mathematically impossible and I still think it''s too early to make predictions - we''re not even halfway through the season yet. Personally I''d wait and see what they do in the transfer window and how they''re doing in February

  5. If he''s recovered from the injury I hope we sign him. Yes he''s getting old and is from Aston Villa, but the reason he''s a free agent isn''t because he wasn''t offered a new contract, it''s because he rejected the new contract he was offered. He also sounds like a decent captain, as he led Villa to the FA Cup final last season

Personally I hope we sign him if he''s injury free, as we desperately need to invest in defenders and we would only be spending money on his contract, as he''s a free agent

  6. I think some of us are taking things far too seriously. Yes we''ve haven''t picked up many points recently, but personally I don''t think we''ve done too badly - mean we were hammered on our visits to Liverpool, Man City and Chelsea weren''t we? No we weren''t, we picked up a point at Anfield, narrowly missed out on a point at The Etihad and lost by 1 goal at Stamford Bridge. Yes we were thrashed at Newcastle but their 4th goal came against the run of play and had we equalised instead of them extending their lead, I think we would have got something out of the game.

I feel our defence has also improved in recent games. I''m not we will definitely stay up but I feel the likelihood of our survival at the moment is far greater than most of us think. We just need to make sure we invest in some players, most importantly defenders in January - there''s already talk that we''re tracking Ron Vlaar, who rejected a new contract offer at Aston Villa in the summer and is a free agent

All I can say is either be more positive or stop supporting Norwich and be a glory hunter instead (support one of the big teams)

  7. [quote user="morty"][quote user="Bor"]What are we, as a club, ever realistically going to win?
    The Championship.
    FA Cup - very unlikely
Carling Cup - whatever it is these days - unlikely
    Premier League - no chance
    European Qualification - no
So our business strategy may as well be: live within our means, don''t overstretch ourselves and do our best with what we can afford.
I am totally fine with that.

Totally agree with what you''re saying, but if spending a little more in the summer means we stay up this season, surely thats playing smart? And obviously I understand that spending money doesn''t guarantee success. I think we could have done with just a little more quality, and it wouldn''t have taken much to get it. I just don''t want this season to mirror the one where Ashton was too little, too late.

Personally I think I have to agree with you there Bor, but you never know what could happen in the future - if we manage to achieve survival this season we might strengthen next season. I''m just wondering if we could ever become as strong as that team of the early 90s again

  8. Bournemouth have already lost their most expensive signings to serious knee injuries - Max Gradel is out for 6 months and Danny Ings for the rest of the season. Wilson got off to a flying start - 5 goals in 6 games but also could be out to a serious knee injury, that''s 3 key players lost after just 7 league games to long term injuries.

It''s still early days but they might struggle

  9. I Certainly wouldn''t say it will be easy to stay up, but I do believe that we stand a good chance at the moment. Yes we are only 5 points off 18th but we are also 3 points off 5th and level on points with 5 other teams, just behind them on goal difference. Our next 3 games are Leicester (h) Newcastle (a) and West Brom (h) and I believe we will get at least 5 points out of them

  10. Our fixture away to Newcastle is on Sky. I Also believe that we could get at least 6 points out of our next 3 games - Leicester (h), Newcastle (a) and West Brom (h). Newcastle go to the Etihad next weekend and I''m relieved they threw away a 2 goal lead against Chelsea today. I''m hoping the Canaries will win the bird fight when they visit the Magpies
