If you're happy to have Grant Holt as Wagner's replacement then you have to be happy to have Frank Lampard. Given the current situation we are in, we need someone with good Championship managerial experience, and Holty doesn't have any managerial experience at all. Wouldn't say no to him working as a coach though, as he was a great striker in his playing days

Although I agree that it’s time for Delia to end her control as it’s too difficult to run a club at our level as self funded anymore due to how inflated the transfer market has got over the years, I still regard Delia as a far better owner than some of the owners we have seen at other clubs over the years. Being a true Norwich fan, she doesn’t take the money for herself. The only down side to it is her own financial wealth. As it’s only money from her cook books she’s sold she doesn’t lend us any money, forcing us to earn the money ourself. However, it’s not all about wealth. Look at the Glazers for an example, billionaires but all the Man Utd fans want them out. If they sold up and then Delia sold up to them would you take them? No way, not unless they changed and took the same approach to us as Man City’s and Newcastle’s owners take to their clubs (give us money and don’t want it back)

If Wagner goes I want his replacement to be a manager with an attacking style of play. Yesterday I saw someone on Facebook calling for Steve Bruce. No thanks - he failed at West Brom recently and parks the bus, just like Chris Hughton
-
Lambert was great when he came, getting us straight back up to the Championship, then back to back promotions to the PL. However, ever since he left us he’s failed everywhere, and so I would only say no as if he was appointed I think we would only see a repeat of the second spell of Mike Walker
-
Fantastic. Now all we need is Gunn and Rowe to follow suite

1) Salary cap. Personally I don’t just think it’s harsh on the smaller teams but that’s it’s horrible for all the people out there who are struggling with the cost of living crisis at the moment. Just think, some people struggle to earn £25k p/a, so I would have a maximum wage of just £2k p/w. Just about all players go into some other football related activity when they hang up their boots, whether it’s coaching, management, being pundits etc so they don’t need the money. Would like this to be introduced by FIFA, so it’s active worldwide
2) Transfer fee cap. Again, something else I would like FIFA to introduce. It’s causing inflation in the market, so I would have a maximum club expenditure of £100m in transfer fees p/s. Ban all clubs in debts of £50m+ from spending anything in transfer fees, so they can only sign free agents and players from their academy
3) Scrap VAR. It’s doing more bad than good. Keep GLT though

To be honest BH, I don’t mind rival fans who behave like you currently are - I have a football teammate who’s a Tractor Boy, and we just respect each other’s teams. When we were in League One, there were two Leeds fans on here. One hardly posted anything but was a perfectly respectable guy. The other, who called himself “Spainboy” was constantly winding us up, saying things like “you’ll never catch us” because of Leeds’ good cup run with their win at Old Trafford. However, Leeds’ cup run proved costly for them as it provided as a distraction and Spainboy disappeared as we overtook them in the table. At the end of the season he came back under a different name and apologised to us, probably because he’d got banned
It’s far too early to be making predictions as there’s still a long way to go but if it turns out to be your season this time round, all I would say is credit to you

A good cup run does not help you in the league. It just gives more opportunities for injuries/fatigue/suspensions. I don’t know who remembers our season in League One when we were competing with Leeds for the title but Leeds were top of the league at first and went on a good cup run, including a win at Old Trafford but their cup run just provided as a distraction for them and they ended up finishing in second place, with us winning the title

I’d always take promotion. Yes it’s always difficult following the club through the first season, especially as we hold the record for the number of PL relegations but promotion’s an achievement and you will also see a great season in the Championship - what would you prefer, hanging around mid-table in the Championship with the occasional relegation battle (like the Grant-Roeder-Gunn era), or going up to a higher level?
I know there’s all the financial issues but there’s a possibility that things might change with Attanasio now involved. Even so I do think we already have several decent players in the side

Just now, keelansgrandad said:So we are a one man squad?
You don’t get what I mean. Until Sargent got injured the whole squad was doing fine, and there were no complaints. It looks like the loss of Sargent has traumatised all the other players in the squad and had an impact on their confidence
-
As I’ve said in another thread we were doing fine until Sargent got injured. It seems like his injury had an impact on the rest of the squad’s mentality

We’re fortunate it’s only 2 months. Sometimes ligament damage can have a much longer recovery time

I always saw this game as a 3-1 defeat. Sounds like we made a decent effort into finding an equaliser. Just hoping that Barnes’ injury isn’t too serious (just a knock etc), as with no Sargent we need him for every game
-
The Stoke fans clearly fear this fixture but after our performance against Rotherham I do too
Would go for:
Gunn
Stacey Duffy Gibson Giannoulis
Sara McLean
Fassnacht Barnes Rowe
Idah
I think it’s worth starting Idah. I know he’s approaching 100 appearances for us but we all know that for the majority of his time here he’s been behind Pukki in the pecking order and so the majority of those appearances have been as a sub. For a player to get good experience I think they regularly need to be playing at about 60 mins, not 1-20 mins. Apparently Hwang also only started training on Thursday

Supposed to be out for several weeks with an ankle sprain. With the reports about it (stretchered off and on crutches) I feared it was a fracture or ligament damage and he would be out for months. Not good but at least it’s not too bad. Fingers crossed the rest of our players on international duty all come back in one piece though. I think the friendly between Scotland and England might give the likes of Gunn and McLean some practice against PL opposition

Just now, Google Bot said:Tzolis scored 4 in 4 games now, good to see and impressive for a wide man as we know with Rowe. Shame there's an option to buy really.
That is in the German 2nd tier though, which I think is a lower strength league in comparison to the Championship

Ogwuru announced as a 'long-term deal', but the completionist in me gets really annoyed that they won't stipulate the contract length. If anyone can find out when Fisher, Reyes and Ogwuru's contracts expire, I'll be eternally grateful!

Tomkinson won’t be, as he’s going out on loan to Bradford

Not just in case we don’t achieve promotion, but also to help prepare for next summer in case we do achieve it - we all know what happened last time we won promotion already in debt......

If Omobamidele goes to Forest I can only see him becoming the next Jamal Lewis. Can’t see how he’d get any game time at a PL club when he’s currently 3rd choice here

Would be as good a signing as I think we could get. Hard working, can score.
Would much prefer him to Lowe. Also already knows Stacey

Not surprised the Cardiff fans are saying she was awful. Listening to the commentary I think we were fortunate they don’t have VAR in the Championship as apparently Cardiff should have been awarded a penalty in the first half. Had it been given and converted I think the second half would have been a totally different story and we would have probably ended up getting thrashed 5-1
