1. ......... oh, and I suppose an obvious song for Ed and Labour (Old, New or whatever) supporters, at least for another five years, is ''Cheerio, cheerio, cheerio .....''
 2. I agree with the comment above. Ed Balls displayed an impressively calm and courteous magnanimity in defeat but that''s unsurprising because in my opinion he always conducts himself in a gentlemanly manner. This is of course in contrast with the ''anti-Tory'' brigade on here whose posts today reveal, to me anyway, a predictably arrogant, disagreeable, and bigoted reaction to the Conservatives winning an unexpected overall majority. I said the other day that you would have to be nutty to vote for Labour and it is clear that Labour supporters on this message board are purple with bitter frustration and the ''injustice of it all''. What we have witnessed in England and Wales is a significant majority of the population displaying common sense and voting for the continuation and consolidation of stability. It has nothing to do with deep rooted right wing leanings or, indeed, unprogressive, dogma based left wing thinking but instead has everything to do with good sense, intelligence and pragmatism.
 3.
Even Tettey''s knee is well able to manage one game a week. Fulham represent a big challenge even though pride and exorcising a demon are the only things hanging on it. Finishing the season on a high and going into the play offs full of confidence though would be a huge plus. What sort of preparation would it be to duck out?
He was a big miss last Saturday. Was that due to his knee ? If there has been any discussion/announcement on his absence against Rotherham I didn''t see it.
 4.

The thread holds up to no scrutiny at all - it was proved to be completely wrong after less than 12 hours.
I''m probably missing something WHF but given that the thread was started on Saturday evening, and by the way shook a few of us out of our depression and re-ignited a little hope, where does the "less than 12 hours" come from ?
Blimey, if reading this thread gave you new hope and shook you out of depression then I think you need to go and sit in the "daft ar$e" corner with the OP.[;)]
I was thoroughly dejected after we blew the very realistic opportunity of gaining automatic promotion with just minutes to go last Saturday afternoon but, yes, the realisation/reminder that there was still a chance, albeit very slim, of still achieving automatic promotion served to cheer me up just a little bit. Like I said earlier Morty, without hope there is only despair and the descent into becoming a morose, miserable, insult hurling old git. By the way, interested to see you have extended your abuse portfolio from just "cock" and "tw@tt" to include "daft ar$e". Impressive. I''m tempted to encourage you further to enhance your boorishness repertoire with a few choice gibes of my own but then I would be sinking to your moronic plateau and I''m not prepared to do that.
 5.
Apologies. I thought this thread was started yesterday.
Fair enough WHF.

 7.
Would certainly like to see VOO given a full 90 to make his claim for a place.
Agree with this, it would be worth going to the match just to see what this much vaunted player can do. I don''t think we should risk injury to any of our key players so I also think that this is the opportunity for Becchio to start.
 8. Not sure what''s wrong with clinging to hope. Without hope there is only despair and I would rather clutch straws, whilst at the same time not denying that I will still probably drown, than become a miserable, negative so and so. There was just a chance, albeit very slim indeed, that Bournemouth would not win last night, that both Middlesborough and Bournemouth would drop points on Saturday and we would win. Now that scenario has evaporated, I am allowing myself to hope that we can win the play-offs and still get promoted ..... or, is that scenario one that should be mocked and treated with contempt ?

As I said in my post, I support no political party at all, in fact I have a low opinion of all politicians, but my opinion as a neutral is that the BBC is most definitely left of centre.

Again, in the interests of balance, I think that the daily news should be read by someone with a broad norfolk accent and the weather forecast presented by a scouser.
 11.

I''m sure it will be all sorted out with Cameron prominent at the FA Cup Final, drinking Fosters Lager and swirling his jacket around his head if Villa wins. That should restore his "man of the people" rating in the eyes of some Tory spin monkey.
I doubt that he will bother. The Cup final is after the election and as he has already said he won''t stand for a third term he can do whatever he wants if he wins this time. More likely to see him foxhunting than footballing!
You didn''t see Andrew Marr''s apology to Cameron yesterday then ?! The words literally stuck in his throat and he checked on them
 12.

See what I mean..
Yeah, but... [:D]
Thanks Quentin, that''s what I like: a sense of balance. They''re both a couple of knobbs, from highly priviliged backgrounds, completely out of touch with the reality of daily life for the vast majority of the population.
 13.
The ''punch'' that Grabban threw would not hurt a child. Some of the over the top, stud showing, leg breaking tackles that also get players sent off could, potentially, end a fellow professional''s career. Yet they both pick up three match bans. Ludicrous.
He threw a punch, it made contact. Red card. It really is as simple as that. Credit (begrudgingly) to the Rotherham player for not falling to the ground like the proverbial sack of potatoes or clutching his stomach as if he had been punched by Manny Pacquiao.
 14.
Bournemouth will beat Bolton who have second worst away record according to Sky. Boro will beat Brighton who cannot score. City 4th to play 5th who looks to be Derby who have conceded 7 goals to poor teams in last two games. But will beat a poor Reading. Ipswich need to beat Blackburn which seems unlikely to finish 5th.
If Ipswich lose away at Blackburn and Brentford beat Wigan then they will be on the same points so it would then come down to goal difference as to who qualifies for the play-offs. Ipswich GD currently 3 better than Brentford''s so likely to be a tight run thing.
 15. I always felt that this was a potential banana skin fixture for Bournemouth tonight and then away at Charlton in their last game. The annoying thing is that there would have been more reason for the Bournemouth players to be nervous and tense this evening had we held on for a win at Rotherham. I know I should "move on" but I am still hacked off that we couldn''t hold on for the win last Saturday because had we done so I do think we would have gained auto promotion.
 16.
I would suggest that, given he''ll be missing from most/all of our remaining games anyway, we would be a bit daft not to appeal if we think there is any chance of success.
But that''s the point I''m making. How can there possibly be any chance of the FL overturning the ref''s decision given the circumstances i.e. punch thrown in clear view of ref ?
 17. Why would we appeal ? He threw a punch in clear view of the ref. The FL are hardly likely to overturn the ref''s decision, are they. Grabban''s unprofessional and petulant reaction has cost us dear.
 18. Apart from anything else, why on earth would you want him to ? I don''t understand why you are asking the question.
 19.
That''s a super time Karl, but I had to read your post three times before I understood it. I read it as a Sarf Lundon hit. "You ain''t seen me roight?"
I ran to the bus stop this morning and just caught the bus. Plus I managed to get my breath back after two more stops so I''m pretty pleased with that.

 21.

What Hughton will do - as he did at Norwich - and incidentally is what Chelsea do - is get the team wery well organised and rely on the individual talent of a front player to score the odd chance that comes their way - as at Chelsea for instance where three shots on target in two games resulted in two wins. Its not pretty as we know, bur with the right players it works and far from going out for a 0-0, Hughton will aim to win the game.
Makes you wonder why Chelsea went for Mourinho when they could have had Hughton. [:S]
Easier for the fans to spell and pronounce probably.
 22. "Sheffield Wednesday are delighted to announce the key appointments of two advisors to the club’s chairman, Mr Dejphon Chansiri. Vastly experienced duo Adam Pearson and Glenn Roeder will form two parts of what is effectively a three-man sporting director by committee alongside head coach Stuart Gray. Read more at http://www.swfc.co.uk/news/article/key-duo-appointed-at-sheffield-wednesday-2412929.aspx#0PukKw8KFrSkSK3T.99" Meanwhile, good to see that Wednesday will be taking over 2000 fans to Vicarage Road for the last game of the season. They''re doing well and looking to finish as high as possible so this could be very interesting. "Tickets for the Owls’ season finale at Vicarage Road have sold out. Wednesday face automatic promotion chasers Watford on the last day of the Championship campaign. A total of 2,182 Wednesdayites will be out in force in Hertfordshire on Saturday 2 May. Its not pretty as we know, bur with the right players it works and far from going out for a 0-0, Hughton will aim to win the game. If they get that first goal against Watford, or if they play tight to keep a clean sheet at Middsbro, those two main rivals of ours are going to find it very tough to win those games. That is good for us and is why we still have a chance of top two.
We can all hope and with Brighton running us close at home earlier this month and beating Blackburn 1-0 away only a month ago, there is certainly a basis for that hope. Of course there is still the small matter of us winning our last two games

Aging Thatcherites find it difficult to contain themselves, in so many ways BigFish.
Ah, great, let''s introduce politics into the discussion and, just to start the ball rolling, kick off with an anti Thatcher agenda spiced up with a dose of ageism from a couple of arrogant know-it-alls hiding behind usernames.
