I think doherty will struggle against some of the players in the championship.. But i also think he was the best centre back at the club! I don''t think the is a centre back in the championship that would not struggle with lita''s or earnshaws pace, if the was and if they can also pass out from the back, like people seem to think we want to replace doherty, i''m sorry but a pacey strong centre back that can play from the back are not going to be playing in the championship! They''ll be playing champions league.. maybe you''ll get someone with pace or someone that can pass from the back but we will not be getting a compleat centre back with pace, a good defensive brain, can takle,thats good in the air and that can play from the back.... the is a very limited amount of players with all these attributes,if the is one playing at championship level and they are avalible every single club in the championship is going to want them so i hope we have alot of money to spend because we will need it

After the game the doc had against leeds at Carrow road Doc may have earned himself a very good contract....? That was by far the best performance i have seen him play... That match is what changed my opinion of doherty.The only time he let beckford go he out sprinted him over 30 mins n got that tackle in with his head [:S] lol

When i heard caldwell is being released i thought what a signing that would be...Then i thought every club in the championship maybe some prem clubs would see him a squad player. The reason he''s being released is his wages. Will we be able to compete if clubs like Q.P.R,Cardiff,Forest,Derby,Boro even Leeds...He will be a great signing but i doubt we will have the money as we need to strengthen in alot of positions.

If Hughes is so great why wasn''t he playing more games... I think i''m on my own here but i don''t rate askou either.. I think Hughes and askou are very good squad players but not going to get us challenging in the championship. Also what i have seen of witbread including watching him for millwall which wasn''t lot''s but have never been impressed..I always looked out for him when playing as i remember him being at liverpool..All i always thought when watching is how was he at liverpool because i have never really seen him stand out,even in the lower leagues. Hoolahan is a very good player but we need a team he can not win us games in the championship with out a solid defence and midfield.. without doherty and russell we are losing 2 of our best defensive players!

Last year the ever present players which made the spine of the team were, Forster,Doherty,Russell and Holt.. At present time Forster is back at Newcastle,Doherty has been released and Russell has had a good offer from another club. If you look through our squad there are plyers  we wouldn''t have any regrets if they moved on..But these are 3 players that we could have kept and brought some quality players in other positions.For us to be challenging in the championship we need to strengthen in other area''s of the pitch, without these players we are going to have to strengthen in alot more positions. Which means the players will need time to gel. I would rather we sold people like Gill,Tuder-jones even maybe Hughes and try''d to keep the main Spine of our team??

That has been our mistake far to many times in reasent years. This season we spent our Money at the start of the season..then freshened the team up  with loan players as we picked up injuries.

lol i confused myself a bit then, maybe i should do research before i post.... I think he could be a good player at championship level, would deffinatly be a handfull! Not sure he will have the commitment and drive as his career has gone down hill... Might have a point to prove tho? Again he might be on fairly good wages as he has played for bigger clubs but never really made it as a reguler 1st teamplayer anywhere
