1.
Ive got a few forest mates, and they were gutted we signed him!! They said he shouldnt have left forest, but ill wait and see what hecomes up with!
You''ve got a good signing there for this level, make no mistake but as a Forest fan I am certainly not gutted. Have your Forest mates been paying attention to who Forest have been signing this close season? Blackstock, McColdrick, Adebola to name but three (and that in addition to an already not to shabby Earnshaw / Tyson)! Our useless former manager (see what magic he''s currently weaving at Newcastle) Calderwood played him way out of position so as long as he''s played up front I reckon you''ll be seeing a good promotion push this year. Not sure how good he''ll be in the Championship though ...
 2. As a fellow exiled (Norwich based) Forest fan I can certainly concur with Friel on this. Forest were in exactly the same boat at this time four short years ago. Our stuttering 3 season tenure in this league did make promotion all the more sweeter. I remember standing outside Hughes for 30mins on a warm May Saturday afternoon watching the final day scores come in on BBC Final Score. I got some very strange looks when I started dancing round outside Castle Mall entrance at 17:05. Just think, you''re only two seasons from the Premiership. Good luck, see you up there.
 3.
I haven''t posted on here for months but I am compelled to note my disgrace. For the sake of £11 a month between August and February off your direct debit payments we''re £717,603 worse off.I''m disgusted with you. I hope the little point you feel you''ve proved was worth it.I''ve never been so ashamed of fellow "supporters". I feel sick right now.Yes, we can be cynical about the money going straight into the playing budget. Yes we can all feel aggrieved about the situation at the football club. I wish we had a different board/owner in place the same way that I wish we were playing in a different league and I wish that we had Torres up front and Vidic at centre back.We are where we are, and your £11 a month is going to do nothing to help anyone.
I thought wacko jacko (RIP) had his fair share of nutjob fans ...
 4. I wonder if there is a sizable portion of season ticket holders that have yet to recieve their rebate letter? I have yet to get mine and had to go in to the ticket office to get a form myself.I also know of one or two other ticket holders who have yet to receive their letter. Do I smell an underhand tactic by the powers that be to withhold payment by default (seeing as the deadline is but 10 days away) or is this just cr*p admin?
 5.

From what I hear Holt, on balance, did an OK job when at Forest. He was our top scorer at one point, though I think he barely got 10 goals so that may not be saying much. His goals/game ratio was not great. Looks like he''s done OK at Shrews, though that is at an even lower levelIn his defence some say he was played out of position by Calderwood on the wing. You could do worse, but you could also probably do better ...
You dont even know anything about your own club, so why you choose to read a Norwich forum is beyond me. He was your top scorer in 2006/2007 with 18 goals and won your player of the season award. If you dont even know anything about the bloke that won your top scorer award and player of the season, in the same season, just a few years ago...... then why should we take a single word of what you said as gospel?  That makes your input pointless.
Reign your neck in mate!Believe it or not at the time I didn''t pay too much attention (or even care) who our "player of the season" was when we were in the same sh!t as you find yourselves now. Believe it or not I have every sympathy to your current plight as I have lived in Norwich for ten years now and would have loved to see Forest and Norwich in the same league next season.Believe it or not I don''t give a tinkers cuss whether you take my input as gospel or think my input is pointless.

 7. Nope, he''s already signed for Forest I''m afraid ...
 8.
Just do it, without boring the arses of us all with their self-justification. I , for one, am not interested in their pathetic whinging.
From a neutrals perspective (I am a Forest fan) I think they have quite a bit to whinge about though, wouldn''t you agree? The emotional blackmail from the club is quite staggering, even more so that the ill fated "We''re serious amout promotion, are you?" that Forest fans were subjected to in the run up to our relegation to L1.I do have a vested interest in this as I have a season ticket (from when the Jarrold stand was opened) and have a huge liking for NCFC, and yes I will be claiming my rebate.
 9.

I might be lynched for this, or not?As much as I have enjoyed supporting a local club by buying a season ticket over the last five years or so I am actually a Forest fan so ...erm... considering that I have punted more money into Norwich than I was ever able to for Forest (during my time as a poor student in Nottingham) I think Im will be claiming my rebate and buying a couple of XBOX360 games with it.Sorry ...
Lynched? I think not. In light of the fact that you do not actually support Norwich but still have pumped hundreds of pounds into our coffers I think you can get off the death sentence by claiming insanity.
Me? Insane? In the words of Lady Smith "Where am I? Where am I?"

 11. I do fear for Norwich next year. As a (Norwich based) Nottingham Forest fan I remember only too well our own demise into league one. What really concerns me about Norwich is that you are bleeding key players as if a metaphoric artery (sp?) has been cut! We lost a few but I believe we did retain a spine and made a few signings (Clingan was one of them!). Even considering this we has a difficult first season and failed to make to playoffs. However, it is early days and a few good signings can turn things around. Fingers crossed for you, genuinely.
 12.
Just heard the decision and cannot believe it (although I really shouldn''t be suprised!!) This really was an opportunity to start afresh and get someone in who knew what they were doing.  Instead, we reward failure (which begs the question how badly would they have had to have done to not get the job??!!) It really is hard to fathom how such a poor decision can be made on the back of so many previously bad decisions (regardless of how little the powers that be know about football!)  How sensible it must be to turn the supporters against the management team before a ball is even kicked of the new season.  There will be a ''black cloud'' lingering over Carrow Road come August and I, with so many others, have lost that wave of optimism that had been buzzing around just a few hours ago.  I am really not looking forward to next season, expect the atmosphere to be very sour unless they have a spectacular start and let''s face it that is very unlikely. Roll on the new NFL season!
I thought there were many parallels between Forests recent woes and Norwich, but I think Norwich may have just aced us ... What a crazy decision!PS Sig, I think I sit next to you (guess who!)....
 13.
No! He is rubbish, I would be so angry with this appointment if it happened. Would be a bigger mistake then Roeder in my opinion.
One thing in Calderwood''s defence, by all accounts he wasn''t a arrogant prize c*ck of a man.
 14.
This would be typical of our board!! We''re concerned that they will appoint Gunny, for a number of reasons - prefering instead someone with experience and a history of relative managerial success, so they manage to appoint a manager who has enjoyed a scrap of success but seemingly done so under a cloud whilst at Northampton and Forest. Hardly something to get excited about when the club is in dire need of a positive step forward to unify and lift supporters!
yupThe man is lacking in many managerial qualities, but I don''t think he has gone a season in the lower leagues without at least securing a playoff place or promotion. I perfectly understand your misgivings and was glad to be shot of him, but his record does speak for itself ....
 15.
In today''s sun it says that Colin Calderwood is going to get the job over Bryan Gunn, I really hope this is not true and just the usual bull that''s in the sun.
Calderwood had us in a terminal decline before he was sacked after Christmas, but on the other hand has a good record in the lower leagues. Not a perfect choice by a chalk but I would have him over Gunn.Maybe he''s learnt from his mistakes at Forest ...
 16.
I can draw some solace from the fact that where clubs of a ''certain'' size have been relegated to this level over the past 8-10 years (Man City,Sheff Weds,QPR,Leicester,Nottm Forest and possibly Leeds) they do seem to be able to get back reasonably quickly, whether a clubs resources at this level just naturally evelvates them above smaller clubs I don''t know, I guess we''re about to find out!
My team Forest took 3 seasons to get up, as might Leeds. Trust me, 3 years in that league is not a reasonably quick return. It is a bloody nightmare.
 17. Of course, I forgot to mention; where you had "prudence with ambition" we had "we''re serious about promotion, are you?" rammed down our throats the season that we went down to L1.spooky ...
 18.
Despite still being a legend in my eyes he has been such an integral part of the clubs failure to be able to turn it around. Without doubt your make an excellent point because I can see us hanging on to Gunny for far too long next year because he is such a legend and because he is part of the set up, in the same way that sentiment caused them to keep hold of Worthy too long. We need a fresher approach with someone like Robins or Ince.
We also made a similar mistake with Stuart Pearce once when we were relegated from the Prem (I think in 96/97?). He wasn''t even close to being ready to manage then. Newcastle are also currently guilty of this misguided sentiment.
 19.
Yeh I totally agree with what you said forest red but try telling our board that will be very difficult as they will clearly just go for the option which costs them the least money so they can go and build another restaurant or conservatory. On the subject of Megson I can still not understand how he has managed to go from getting forest in a league one relegation battle to being a premier league manager!
I think Megson was part of a larger problem at Forest at the time and not the sole cause. We were probably in as big if not a bigger mess than Norwich, and we aint out of the woods yet, though we are currently in a clearing (if you follow me). I suppose you could compare him to Worthington, he probably had to go yet is doing OK in N Ireland.
 20.
Cheers for that sobering thought. Megson seems to be doing pretty well at Bolton - do you regret getting rid of him now?  Maybe he just needed a bit more time...
At the time we were imploding, Megson had to go.
 21. My 1st post on here but thought I''d share my thoughts as an exiled Forest fan who knows how you are all feeling. There are many similarities between that state Forest were in when we were relegated and Norwich now but you can learn from our experience and mistakes during our time in that god-foresaken league. In our first season we didn''t make the playoffs down to hesitating getting rid of Megson. It took care-taker managers from the backroom to ensure we didn''t get mired into a further relegation scrap, we were lucky.Colin Calderwood (or Clueless) came in and split fan opinion but got us into the playoffs in our second season before blowing it spectacularly against Yeovil, many wanted him out after that. I believe that in spite (rather than because) of Caldwood we were then promoted automatically on the last day of last season after Cheltenham got an unlikely win against Doncaster; again we were lucky. Calderwood was found out in this league and condemned us to another season long relegation scrap before we got rid, in the nick of time. The ONLY reason we survived this season is that we somehow FINALLY got it right in the manager department. Billy Davies has been a revelation. Don''t get me wrong, we could well struggle again next season but I haven''t been this optimistic for Forests prospects for many many years. Norwich are on the cusp of making a huge mistake in appointing Gunn, NOTHING is more important than getting the manager selection right. Of course, I maybe wrong but I talk from bitter experience. I could say more but I''m probably boring you now ...Finally, there is hope, and you might need to be patient (easier said than done I know). I genuinely hope your stay is briefer than ours but if you appoint Gunn I will expect a similar, painful experience to us.Anyways, chin up and I''ll see you in the 2010/2011 championshop playoff final!
