  1. Last night I trawled through Norwich''s league record from every season, and barring the seasons where we only played 42 matches (which our best ever season was in 1986 when we took 84 points from 42 games along with the old division two title!), the best point haul in our history was in 1950-51 when we finished 2nd in the old division three south winning 64 points (although this would translate into 89 points if 3 points were awarded for a win that season). Basically what I''m trying to say is, if we get 8 more points this season to reach 90 points, it will officially be our greatest ever league performance in our history.... Still plenty to play for Worthy...
  2. Well if Mick McCarthy won manager of the month and assuming that is a curse then Sunderland won''t win their next league game - V Wimbledon.....Yeah right! ps FA Cup semi-finals don''t have replays anymore, do they?
  3. When will everyone stop being so ageist? Just because Iwan is now 35 doesn''t mean he suddenly can''t play 90 mins. He is in fact one of the fittest players in the squad - just ask Dave Carolan, Norwich''s Sport Scientist. Although it is also true that Iwan appears to have lost a yard of pace since the Play off final in Cardiff in 2002, which kind of gives him problems these days, as I believe this is the only part of his game where things let him down considerably - he just can''t get on the end of anything anymore. It would be an interesting prospect never-the-less to try the McKenzie/Roberts pairing with Huckerby cutting in from the left in support. But such experimentation best be left after we''ve won promotion at home against Walsall.
  4. Why was this partnership broken? It produced a string of excellent results and the goals were going in. Then Roberts has a quiet game against WBA and Svensson is in and since then it''s been points down the pan. People keep making the point "Roberts can''t last full 90 mins anymore" because he is 35. I seem to remember Roberts recently said in an article that after having a series of fitness tests he was in fact one of the fittest members of the squad. If we must persist with a target man, we might as well recall Iwan.
  5. Frank Sinclair? Allegedly his agent is looking around for him to move on ASAP...He would be motivated if he came in on loan - after all he has a lot to prove (not just his innocence).
  6. Will this position get sorted out before transfer deadline????????? Kevin Cooper can play on the left in place of McVeigh whose form has dipped. But what about the right wing?? Will Mark Rivers ever play for us again? What about young Keith Briggs or will he never play for us again??? Why is there no one in the football league who is available and can play there? But please Worthy, no more Henderson wide right. No more Mullers or Francis wide right. And no more McVeigh wide right. These guys are not the solution.
  7. Given I only became interested in football at the age of 8 just after David Stringer was appointed manager I can only name the best players since then.... And my team would be Gunn (obviously), a back four of Culverhouse (who was quality at right back), Bowen (superb ball playing full back although back passes were not his strong point!!), with Linighan and Butterworth centre backs. Midfield...Left wing has to be David Phillips for me, pure class and scored shed loads of goals from long range efforts. Right wing Dale Gordon. Having watched old Norwich videos recently that guy was mint. Great skills. Centre mids would have to Andy Townsend and Ian Crook. Up front, Chris Sutton and Craig Bellamy - pace and height. Just think if we had those two up front at the moment, unstoppable.
  8. With the transfer deadline looming in the near future its time to open the debate on potential moves Worthy could (or should) make to cement automatic promotion. Personally, I believe we should move to get a right winger on loan ASAP until the end of the season. McVeigh has been anomynous on the right and is far more effective on the left. Also Brennen rarely gets to the by-line when operating at left mid, which isn''t surprising when you consider he really is a left back. Also as Mulryne has proven to be too slow to operate on the wing, Rivers clearly has no future at Carrow Road and Henderson blows hot and cold (and isn''t actually a winger anyway) its time we got someone in. So who should Worthy go for? Some suggestions: Glen Little (Burnley) : They''re heading for administration and lent him out to Reading last season, plus on his day he is quality. David Bentley (Arsenal) : Top notch youngster. Paul Warne (Rotherham) : Always impressed me when I''ve seen him, gets lots of crosses in. Harper (Portsmouth) : We already know what he can do, but unlikely to be released by old ''Arry due to injuries and relegation battle. Keith Gillespie (Leicester) : Maybe a bit sensitive at the moment... Anyone else any ideas?
