1.
Posh seem to be making all the running on this. Apparently Dion''s source was at Posh rather than at Norwich, and their chairman doesn''t seem to be able to stay out of the media. Today he''s basically named the price. Are they broke? Personally, £2M up front seems way over the top for a player of his age. At that price you''d want a sure thing. But I haven''t seen him play, so can''t really comment (although not sure that''s ever stopped anyone on here...)
Absolutely. Mr. Fry''s fingerprints all over this one."Y''know we''re flogging you Mackail Smith""Really??"Yeah. There''ll be a bit of argy-bargy about the price, but it''s a done deal, trust me (winks)"
 2. Excellent work, Mahogany. Love the way Wes is pointing 3 different ways in the diagram! And Frank, still wearing that stupid bunny suit?? ........
 3.

This is Barry Fry we''re dealing with - the Terry Tibbs of English football. He''s not going to accept our first offer, but you know damn well he''ll sell if the price is right.
If we did bid £2.5/3 million for Mackail-Smith we should not be going any higher to be honest. I am all for showing ambition don''t get me wrong but anything higher than that is crazy money. Particularly when you consider Nicky Maynard went for about £2.25 million. Fair play to Peterborough for asking for stupid money though. They are chasing promotion and have got a bit of momentum back now Ferguson has signed. The equivalent would have been us selling Holt last season, there would have been a riot.   Dion has really put his foot in this I am afraid. Like others have said I wasnt sure of his credibility when he said we needed a new centre half, at a time Barnett, Nelson, Ward and Whitbread were firing on all cylinders. This has just added to it. Doubt the BBC will be happy either because they dont usually comment on transfer stories unless they are 100% cut and dried.
Agree with this. I reckon Fergie might leave if it came off.
 4. Great report Hux, as usual. Still coming down this morning! One question: was one of their strikers offside when they scored? I know this invites the eternal problem about "interfering with play", but I agree with whoever said " if he''s not interfering with play, why''s he on the pitch!" or something like that.

 8. Thinking nearer to Al Jolson than Showaddywaddy. Lots of people have done it, though, including Little Richard. That might be an interesting version.
 9.

Would help if they has some decent sing along music on from 2.45pm to kickoff, like ''''Hi Ho Silver Lining '''' '''' Daydream Believer'''' to get the atmosphere going.
Showing your age there, CA!
If you think that''s bad, I just heard "By the light of the Silvery Moon". Thought it sounded quite catchy - & appropriate, for an evening game ......
 10. Going to be controversial here & suggest that Cody might have some sort of future here if we went up.It''s true he does miss far too many, but some of his goals have been quality & often conjured out of nothing. Plus he will not let an opposition''s defence rest - if you watch MOTD you will notice how important a part strikers play in harrying defenders & forcing them into bad passes.I''m not saying he would be a regular starter, but he could be very useful for the last 15-30 mins. of a high tempo game.
 11.

spot on! Lambert has looked for someone given the injury to Chrissy. No one fits the bill or wants to come. Move on. End of.
Fair enough but what about if Holty gets injured ??
I guess he knows he could do with a bit of cover but as he''s said he can''t find one.... What if Zak gets injured or Wes or Ruddy. All three as influencial as Holty at the moment. You pick yourself up & you move on
If Zak gets injured we have bought Rob Edwards as cover, If Ruddy gets injured we have 2 capable young goalies waiting, if Wes gets injured we have plenty of midfielders to cover, but if Holt gets injured and is out for a month say, who do you play instead of him?
I think that was the main reason for buying Wilbraham. I know he doesn''t offer as much as Grant, but by the same token we don''t have anyone who offers as much as Wes.Who knows, perhaps Jacko would play better off Wheelie? I doubt it, but stranger things have happened in football. whatever, I don''t believe the wheels would come off - playoffs would still be a fair certainty, but top 2 that much harder. Let''s hope Grant stays fit!
 12.
So now you want quality and cheap quality at that with no possible recall by the loaning club . I think you had better just cross your fingers and hope Wilbraham or Jackson can find the net and that Holt does not get injured. Fact that Lambert seems to have been on the phone non stop rather implies he does not have that much faith in our goal shy strikers though.
Or he can''t find anyone who will bring more to the team than it presently has? Their attitude & motivation being a large part of that.Interesting as well that an out-and-out striker wasn''t his main target in the transfer window.
 13.
Ron, you went back a season too far. Brum did it with 83 in 08/09
True, but I wasn''t going to quibble about a point! Still, that makes twice in the last few years. Given how tight it is this year, I wouldn''t be surprised to see promotion with points in the low eighties. Exciting times!
 14.
No team has ever recieved auto promotion from the championship with less than 84 points. I heard from someone.
2007/2008:Pos     Name     P     W     D     L     F     A     GD     PTS1     WBA     46     23     12     11     88     55     33     812     Stoke City     46     21     16     9     69     55     14     793     Hull City     46     21     12     13     65     47     18     754     Bristol City     46     20     14     12     54     53     1     745     Crystal Palace     46     18     17     11     58     42     16     716     Watford     46     18     16     12     62     56     6     70Freak year though, usually need 85-90 points.
 15. I suppose it comes down to whose judgment we trust more, yours or Lambert''s.So no contest really.
 16.
We still need a player who can produce abit of magic when we have to break teams down at home because that''s where we''re struggling at the moment.
Actually I think we have about 6 players capable of producing a bit of magic. What I really like is we now have an alternative to the diamond if needs be.
 17. Very fair report on the Leicester offy site:http://www.lcfc.com/page/MatchReport/0,,10274~53124,00.html
 18.
Can someone please post a potted recap of what has gone on tonight please? The speed of my internet here means it would take me till Saturday to read through the thread! I know we won obviously, and that Holt scored a pen, and Wilb scored. Who played well etc?
That''s easy. The whole team.
