1. Keelan Steve Bruce Peters Huckerby MacDougall or Woods Bowen Crook Eddie Reeves or Gunn Sullivan Ryan Phelan Ashton or Just kidding!!!!!
2. Our squad so far, apologises if I miss anyone. GK Ruddy, Rudd, McGovern RB Ivan, Whittaker, Martin, poss Godfrey CB Klose, Bennett, Bassong, Turner, Martin LB Ollson, Toffolo, Whittaker, Brady RM Canos, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy, Vadis CM Howson, Dorrans, Vadis, McGrandles, Godfrey, Thompson, Tettey, Andreu, Mulumbo, Maddison, Hoolahan, Naismith LM Brady, Jarvis, Josh Murphy, Jacob Murphy F Jerome, RVW, Lafferty, Morris, Naismith, Josh Murphy Being ruthless (yes I know it not''s going to happen) but personally the senior players that I deem are not good enough for the first 11 or even squad players I would move on/sell would be (and its a long list) Whittaker, Bassong (to many game changing mistakes), Turner (obvious one), Martin (borderline, ok cover CB, decent RB at Championship level), Andreu (obvious again), Mulumbu, Vadis (isn''t working out unfortunately), McGrandles (hasn''t exactly set the world on fire when on loan), RVW (enough said), Lafferty. There are others I feel are just treading water and will need to pull their fingers out this season to stay off my list! So I believe in a perfect world we still need 2 strikers, CB and if we loose Brady LM. I did also want a new Keeper and would have preferred someone who has something to prove, younger, rawer, poss lower league with potential but hey ho what do I know. AN knows what he''s doing................or does he?
3. Shame really as he looked good but unfortunately only in fits and starts and I think your right in that 2 seasons is long enough even accounting for his long injury layoff.
4.
Remember the days when we we''re skint and we had a ''paper thin squad''?
I remember the days when you could name your best 11 with maybe 1 or 2 differences of opinion plus 3 subs and struggle to name a squad of any more than 17/18 players!
5. Just looked at the NCFC official players profiles and we have 14 midfielders listed! If you add Josh Murphy and Godfrey to that we have 16 plus some other youngsters potentially coming through. I think this is an area in general AN needs to improve in we seem to sign too many players of a likeness in all areas of the pitch hence his difficulty in selecting a settle side. It also makes it very difficult to keep everyone happy. Just too many choices, wood and the trees and all that. Likewise we list 5 CB''s including Martin, 6 strikers, 3 Keepers. That''s 14 players and in truth how many of them would you say are stand out even in this league? For me Klose, Bennett (only when played with alongside Klose), Jerome, Naismith (although the Jury''s still out, needs to really prove his worth this season) and to be honest if I was really pushed Ruddy just pips it for Keepers. Of course not everyone''s going to agree with me just my opinion, but even AN has said he prefers quality over quantity.
6. That''s 2 down 3 to go (2 strikers, CB). Redmond''s replacement looks to be potentially an excellent signing, not so sure about the GK situation, is Ruddy off and is McGovern really any better than him? We shall see.
7. Trying to sign player''s on the cheap just won''t work especially for a club like ours, if anything we need to pay over the odds to guarantee to get the deal done before we alert other club''s to our interest and the numerous other reasons we have been given in our difficulties in completing deals. Strangely though we do expect top dollar for our players. We can''t have it both ways. As i believe Steve Bruce said put up or shut up (actually i think i just made that up, but you get my drift). If we want to buy an Aston then dont expect to be paying Escort prices.
8. Your quite right but still nothings changed and at what point will start to worry?
9. In my humble opinion we need a CB, 2 strikers, RM (Redmonds replacement) and a GK along with a number of fringe (at best) players moved on, players I see no point in having even in the squad as they are clearly not deemed good enough or wanted for example just to name a few, Andreu, McGrandles, Thompson (both I believe are 21/22 so not really just kids), RVW, Lafferty, Turner etc. We might also need a number of other positions filled if we are to sell the likes of Brady (quite likely) and others mentioned, Ollson, Bennett. Now I know in a perfect world we wouldn''t want to have a total clear out and rebuild the entire squad but honestly how many of the 30 odd man squad (excluding the likes of say Maddison) would you want/put into the starting 11/bench or retain as squad players? Personally I could lose 10-15 no problem harsh though that might seem. Well I know there are 4 weeks still before the season starts but so far we have sold Redmond and brought no-one and pre season games have already started and you need to give new players time to gel and settle in. I await with bated breath in hope that we sort this out sooner rather than later because fresh faces are definitely needed.
10. Hughton clearly has a game plan and sets us up accordingly but the lack of a plan B or C is a worry, his subs are nearly always like for like, he never seems to change things when they are not working and brings them on way to late in the game.  If we are going to lose games which we will then I would just like to see us be that bit braver if there''s only a goal or 2 in it, WBA threw 4 strikers on the pitch to get something out of the game and they did.  There has been this pattern in the last dozen or so games where we have been totally in control only to seemingly take our foot of the pedal and try to defend what we have got, a tactic thats proving to be even harder to do with Ruddy out injured.  Hughton has without doubt done a brillant job to get us to where we are now, hopefully we can get 1 or 2 additions in the New Year to help us push on but in games when we need a goal to get the win or rescue a point can we please be just that little bit more adventurous.
11.
Good point well made, however for example Pilkington WBA away was having a nighmare and getting worse as the game went on surely bringing on say Bennett would have at least given us a lift.  Jackson although not a starter in my opinion has enough about him particually with his pace to at the very least unsettle defensives and make them sit deeper.  If Hughton does not believe in his subs on the bench to be able to have an impact then whats the point of bringing them on at all, I would rather he didnt bother than to bring on offensive players with just minutes to go.
13. This is a slight dig at Hughton there is no denying it.  I do think he has done a brilliant job particually under the circumstances, however the timings of his subs is really getting to frustrate me not to mention his choice of subs alot of the time.  This has nothing to do with losing a couple of games on the trot (poss 3) or even when we went on that incredible run, just that when your chasing a game how does he really expect players to come on with only minutes to change the game?  Fine when we are just seeing out a game, wasting a few more seconds becoming more defensive but when we are chasing a game?  I just dont get it, particually if we are losing you need to give your subs at least 15-20 minutes (I believe in most instances) against tiring defensives to get that goal or create that chance, if your going to lose does really matter if its by a single goal or two, or possibly that chance of getting something out of it?  E Bennett coming on in the 89th minute, what the hell is that all about I mean how many minutes in total has he actually played in the last couple of months?  I just think its asking to much.  Rant over.
14.
I don''t think he is complete dud as a footballer. He clearly has good ability His goalscoring record in the Championship is actually better (in terms of goals to game ratio) than James Vaughan. A player who some people were up arms about when he left on loan. I just don''t think he is ready to play Premiership football and I can''t see him having much involvement with the current system were playing.
Speaking of which does anyone know how hes doing havent heard much about him lately (Vaughan)?
15.
If Ruddy or Bassong start I''d be amazed.  We''ve bought in an experienced understudy to Ruddy so bringing Bunn in for cup games hardly weakens the team and gives him an important run-out.  And if Bassong had a reoccurrence of his injury with games against Stoke and Reading coming up, people would rightly ask why he was playing. So I expect :   Bunn Whittaker/Barnett/Bennett/Tierney Fox/Howson Snodgrass Butterfield Surman Morison   This is not a weak team but it rests some players before some vital league games and gives some others game time who need it. [/quote) Exactly the team I would put out and agree with all the above
16.
I would go with: Ruddy Whitaker Barnett Bennett Tierney Fox Howson Snodgrass Butterfield Surman/Jackson Morison Quite impressive really that we can out out the above side which (Ruddy aside) is a completely new starting 11 from Saturday and its still a side that could quite easily start games for us in the premiership. The squad is looking pretty strong. Having said the above i can also see an argument for trying to keep some continuity tonight given results are picking up and combinations are gelling in the first tea,m There may therefore be some justification for giving Bassong and Turner another run out together to try and build their partnership and also possibly trying Tettey alongside Fox or Howson in the middle.
Totally agree, we could mix it up a bit giving players like Butterfield/Whitaker a run out or field a completely differant 11 from our last game but as you say all the above players were first team starters last year or new players expected to start/bench at the very least certainly no players in there just making up the numbers.  Whatever way we go we clearly have a much stronger squad than last year not forgetting we still have players like Alaya and Vaughan that could potentially come back better/stronger players for us.  If we can sign a quality striker in Jan and perhaps move on Martin I dont think we could really ask for more for now.  Fingers crossed stay in the Prem this season (which I believe we will) and then strengthen again for next year with 2/3 quality players without having to make wholesale changes re: Evertons/Fulhams/Stokes etc.
17.
Ruddy Whittaker, Bennet, Barnett, Tierney snoddy butterfield fox surman howson morison now - this is not the team I want out there, but this is the team I expect to be fielded. and I am sure it will make those who have payed the 30 quid very, very angry, and I can''t blame them. but, I also wouldn''t blame Hughton if he fields a team like this. butterfield and whittaker didn''t play in todays u21 win over bolton, which makes me think they were being saved for wed. however, if some of our key players pick up a knock v spurs, and we end up dropping points to stoke for it, there will be a lot more people who''re angry at hughton compare to if we lost v spurs and picked up 3 points with a fully fit squad.
You could swap Ruddy for Bunn and possibly swap Butterfield and Howson around in the hole.  Perhaps not our strongest line up but all those players have/expect to around the first team so it gives them the perfect platform to step up to the mark and hopefully give Hughton some future selection headaches.  I feel we are at a completely differant place to when we played Leicester last year so I for one wouldnt been to unhappy with this line up and at this point in time the league must take priority.
18. So much crap has recently been posted on here I decided not to bother to respond as in my experience in football things can change very quickly.  Hughton was regarded as our number one choice as manager and very much respected in the game surely that couldnt have all changed overnight, no of course not.  Turner completely rubbished by so many just showed why hes been a premiership player for so long. Holt, well haven''t people learned yet not to be so quick to write him off, 3 in 3 against Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal say no more.  Defensively and tactically spot on with a well deserved clean sheet in fact we looked comfortable.  Bassong and Tetley look like absolutely superb buys by........ oh yeah Hughton.  Now we have got our first win and a monkey off our back against a top four side I see no reason why we cant push on yes its still going to be a tough season but there''s a long way to go with plenty more up''s and down''s but lets all enjoy this excellent win for now.  Cheers
19. With reports of how well Vaughan is playing can we recall him or would it have to be an emergency recall or similar?  How many goals has he actually scored?
20.

We have now signed a back four that in the not to distant past would have cost us approximately £18 million to assemble.  Personally I think thats quite encouraging as I dont believe they could have now all become bad players.  Add Snodgrass and the potential of Butterfield with I believe a possible couple of new signings (Striker & defensive midfielder) plus the players that Hughton has inherited we still could have a very good squad.  Unfortunately for some Hughton is not Lambert and that his management style, tactics, combined with the complete no show at Fulham has got alot of people into a right old stew (understandly so) however thats not going to change the fact that with the backing of the board, most fans at the time of his appointment, that he''s going to build his team the way he wants to and regardless of what people may thinks he''s going to have to be given time to implement that.  Personally I would have liked to see the team just tweaked with perhaps 3/4 top quality signings as opposed to wholesale changes and to see us playing in the same attacking way but thats not Hughton''s way, right or wrong, and at this point in time we are clearly not going to change that fact.  As I see it we dont really have any choice but to stand by him and give him a chance to do his thing (not Lamberts) this is not blind faith as I was for sacking Gunn after the 7-1 defeat not just because of that particular result but I never felt he should have been manager in the first place and the writing was on the wall the season before, however Hughton is not Gunn and with McNasty at the helm he will still need to turn it around but I for one am hoping he can as I do think he has the ability to do so.
He does, but he is trying to force his style onto a squad created by another manager. Until he has made enough signings to have a new look squad that fits the bill, the transition to his style should be slower. Why not play a formation and tactic style half way in between the two contrasting styles. 4-4-2 would probably be beneficial at this stage of the squads upheaval.
Agreed and because of the Fulham result he might find that his hand is somewhat forced, which is something I would rather see as I prefer the at it and up style of football under Lambert, but unfortunately that is not his way.  I am of course hoping that longer term we can still play an attractive passing game with the ball on the deck all be it a bit tighter defensively but certainly not totally negative or we will in my humble opinion be relegated.  Lets hope for a much improved performance agaisnt QPR.
