  1. No, don't... you'll only be disappointed. Expect less. Then the occasional purple patch every decade or so will be so much more enjoyable. At least, that's what Delia told me.
  2. It was widely reported at the time that the club paid £750,000 for the Soccerbot training aid. I've just googled it, and they are available in Argos for just £50! So either Webber has ripped the club off, or he sent Onel down with his Argos loyalty card and he fiddled his expenses.
  3. That sounds like a recipe for a lifetime ban, young man!
  4. I feel more sorry for those who pay their hard-earned and travel around the country to watch this dreadful sh*tshow
  5. Are you suggesting this is beyond the realms of probability? BINNER
  6. I would love to live in the past - I was so much younger then
  7. Not sure if that is actually worse than having no-one lined up
  8. In our current situation it has to be worth a punt. Mind you, with our record he will probably finish his ACL off in training before he even starts a game.
  9. Not nervous, but also not totally convinced that we are quite there as a complete package to compete for an automatic promotion spot, particularly if we let a few teams steal an early march on us.
  10. What I meant by my original post..... but put far more eloquently
  11. It does highlight the downside to getting into the big European competitions. Sometimes mediocrity can look quite attractive.
  12. After tonight's results the game against Leicester takes on even more importance. A win puts us above them, just 2 points behind Ipswich who are in second spot. A loss, and there is just one point separating the top three, with us five points adrift. It seems ridiculous to be talking of 'crunch' games this early in the season, but it really does have that feel about it.
  13. So how long before the conspiracy theorists starting linking her to the Spanish manager's job?
  14. You can probably add the UK to that list
  15. At the risk of being labelled a binner, I tend to agree with clblue on this one. Unless you are one of the top half-dozen in the country the level clubs play at tends to be fairly cyclical, sometimes you are on the up, sometimes down. We have enjoyed a prolonged period of looking down at our unfortunate neighbours as they languished in L1 while we enjoyed watching our team occasionally humbling some of the world's best players. Over the past few seasons Ipswich have steadily improved following the introduction of a good young manager, while we have seemingly regressed, to a point where we are probably at a similar level. How long their rise and our fall will continue is anybody's guess but at some point they will beat us again, maybe even this season. At the end of the day both of us are too good for L1 but not good enough to establish ourselves in the Premiership. Like it or not, if you take it over a long period of time, we are very similar clubs in terms of how 'big' we are.
  16. I was prepared to go along with you on this until the final sentence, which so obviously cannot be true
  17. Unfortunately, the UK hardly has a monopoly in this area. I am old enough to remember when people moved into politics to try and improve the lives of the general populace. This was usually AFTER a having successful career, not instead of having one. The path now seems to be study politics at uni, then jump onto the gravy train at the earliest opportunity.
  18. Well that’s it then. If even Lakey is having doubts it looks like I have spaffed my season ticket money up the wall again
