1.
I wonder if there will be any incidents today that Mcleish will not see sometimes I wonder if managers may need to go see an optician except Paul Lambert of course he has perfect vision he has proved that these past two years
I thought PL had suddenly acquired specs?   Re: the Birmingham/Norwich debate, I too lived there for a period (ten years) and whilst, I grew to love the place, there are many inner-city areas that would be an eye-opener to the average inhabitant of beautiful Norwich who has not had the opprtunity of visiting it. The area around the Villa ground included.
 2.
Totally pointless thread on a NORWICH CITY FC forum!   The Norwich badge is great end off!   Anyone of the "grass is greener" persausion who thinks that we need a new badge design can F off cause they are dreaming!
A bit serious Mr. G.R. disaster.   The thread was never meant to be serious, but just light relief before the hand wringing starts again tomorrow.   Nobody in this thread said the slightest thing against our badge. I, for one,  like it.
 3.
A local charity of your choice in the Kent region broadstairs.
Will do. The next time I visit Tescos a tenner will go into one of the usual collections.
 4.

"Pointless" question name all these clubs. There is one pointless answer, I am sure of it. I will personally contribute ten pounds to the charity of choice of the first to get it right.
off the top of my head... Norwich city Liverpool Bristol City Swindon Aldershot Spurs newcastle Cardiff Brighton WBA Dagenham and Redbridge (look closely) Crawley AFC wimbledon chester City There are lots more.. i cant remember them all. Best badge in the leagues? dagenhams
All those? What''s this obession with birds?
 5.
I''m a fan of Newcastle''s and Man City''s. Not a fan of Wolves, Wigan and Stoke. In fact their is a minor correlation with the current league positions of the clubs and my taste for their badge. Top to bottom, good to bad. Going with 6 clubs with birds on their crest: Man City, Norwich, West Brom, Tottenham, Liverpool and Swansea.
B----r, the first entrant got it right. I honestly thought Manchester City''s would have stumped everybody (a phoenix.)   A Manchester City fan was on the site. Oh well! Charity of your choice Bovril?   The rest are fairly obvious, but I cannot work out Liverpool''s.
 6. Following the daft "best shirt" award recently handed to NCFC, I did some lateral thinking and wondered who had the best club badge in the Premiership.   Ours is not bad, quite simple whilst some are a bit elaborate.   One thing I noticed, there are quite a few clubs who, like us, have a bird on their badge.   "Pointless" question name all these clubs. There is one pointless answer, I am sure of it. I will personally contribute ten pounds to the charity of choice of the first to get it right.
 7. It''s a tough ask to expect anything more than a point at Villa Park, but this team has a habit of rising above expectations.   Every point away from home is a bonus this season so I''d be delighted with that. I am a bit fearful after Blackburn.
 8. Perhaps Chris is the most least likely to get his head down in the situation.   I considered that it would be touch and go whether he made it this season. Things for him have suddenly taken a downward path after a fairly bright start. I thought he was more likely than Simeon, but I was clearly wrong. The latter''s strengths can be more useful at times and I feel he proved this on Saturday.   We need to do some unloading come the next window. Premieship or not, and with PL hinting of new players coming in, we need to keep an eye on the dreaded wages bill. If certain players are a million miles away from making the first team, and Wilbraham probably is, then there''s no point in keeping them on the payroll. We are still in debt.   I get the impression that PL currently has free reign at Carrow Road. Rightly so, but there will surely come a time when McNally and the directors will have to pull the reigns in a bit. There is not the slightest comparison with, for example Roy Keane at Sunderland (and even Ipswich to a lesser extent,) but the lessons are there.
 9. I''m not so sure. Villa at their home will be a very tough ask and Arsenal have just become very good. I only see three points or even less, but then  I''ve yet to come to terms with our excellent start. My glass is three-quarters empty, I''m looking at it now and will top it up.   Done! You never really know what this side is capable of and they rise to the occasion more often than not. Liverpool raised hopes, but after Blackburn doubts re-surfaced.   It''s unikely to be nil points
 10.
This is clearly Irelands loss! As much as I am sure Wes would love to play for his country, Ireland are missing out on pure magic! I reckon they will call him a year before he retires and kick themselves when they realise they could have had many more years of him lol. On another note at least he is a game or 2 less of risk of getting an injury!
I agree with that, and tiredness as well, but it is a bit selfish and parochial as it is most player''s big aim to play for their country. It is also a cause for the Club and supporters to be proud and gives a bit more recognition.   I remember, as a youngster, how elated I felt when Jim Bone was picked for Scotland. A Norwich player an international no less. I believe he was the first, although Keelan should have been.    Was Dean Ashton''s carrer ending injury caused when on international duty?
 11.
He was before my time, but wasn''t  Neil ''Sandy'' Kennon black ? he was our goal keeper 1959-64
No, he was white. Your confusion might have arisen as he was born in South Africa. He was also a more than decent cricketer.

 13.
Owen Hargreaves?
Yes. His name reflects his background. His mother being Welsh christened him Owen, whilst his English father had a good old traditional Northern surname.   Yet he was born in Canada so he was eligible to pick Wales, England or Canada. He chose England, which would have been good for us had he not succumbed to injury so soon into his international career.   I don''t recall anybody objecting to his selection.
 14. Only a very small percentage of Irish people speak Gaelic, so I suppose you are meaning an Irish accent. Anyhow, I''m nitpicking.   Re: your main point. I see what you mean, but selecting these "semi-foreigners" a bit more might bring us more success. It is not against the rules these days.   Jackie Charlton, whe manager of the Irish team, stretched it to the limits and was  probably their most successful manager, still loved.  Players only had to be seen drinking a pint of Guinness to be in the Irish team.   The English cricket selectors have been experts at this from the days of Tony Greig and Basil D''Oliveira to the present with Trott and Morgan etc.   Our last two managers have been foreigners too.   Overall, no problem for me.
 15. Sorry Mustard, but I competely disagree with your analysis of the finer points of the English language.   You can "over-achieve," It is a correct and often used expression which means you do better than expected.   I agree that there is nothing correct about the similar expression 110 % as that is impossible.
 16.
"over achieving year after year" How can you over achieve year after year ? It you achieve something that must mean how you were good at that time. If you keep achieving that level then that is how good you are all the time. shades of ''ever so ''umble little ole norwich, methinks
Of course you can over-achieve year after year. A perfectly correctly used statement, clever dick.   Everton are possibly my least favourite club because of events in the past.   I cannot remember the exact details but I will try:   1. They poached Mike Walker when he was at the peak of success at Norwich, then didn''t really give him long enough before sacking him. 2. We were once relegated from the top league by a freak  result they had against Wimbledon. There were suggestions afterwards that the Wimbledon goalkeeper had been bribed. His performance indicated something was fishy. Was it Hans Seegar? I cannot remeber what came of this. 3. Not directly Everton, but scousers nevertheless,  we once missed out on Europe because of Heysal and the subsequent ban on English clubs. This might be unfair as Toffee fans have no particularly  bad reputation.   I do like the comparison between Moyes and Lambert but feel if Everton have a bad season then he might well be sacked. Expectations are high there and the rivalry bit with Liverpool ensures that. Apparently they have big debts.
 17.
I didnt think he did anything particularly worse than any of our players have in the past. He was also the best player on the pitch imo, has to be off to a better club than Blackburn in the Jan or the summer regardless of the division.
I thought that too. He was outstanding and easily MOM.
 18.
I watched the game with my own eyes so don''t need an ex pro who probably didn''t fulfill his potential, has had addiction problems and is renowned for saying silly things telling me whats what about the game!   Yes the penalty was soft, yes Blackburn were better than us and yes we got lucky yesterday, end of. What Merson says about the game is up to him but I know what happened!
Surely the pundits, who are ex-pros, commenting about a game and giving their opinions is part of the package of being a football fan who likes to watch the game on TV after attending  or otherwise. It is for me and I look forward to this aspect of these programmes. It is also quite likely that they will say things we can''t agree with, but we are biased and they are not. At least they shoudn''t be.
 19. He was clearly over- doing it to the point of cheating. He might well have been hurt, but he made the most of it and gained advantage for his team''   He continued playing and his shoulder injury didn''t seem to impede his goal scoring.   Good player though.
 20. Players play-acting ie. cheating is just one of the seven deadly sins that have crept into the game during the last decade or so.   The others? In no particular order:   Players overpaid and often using that money to be reckless in their social lives ie. continuous scandals. Partly over-exposed by the tabloid press looking for such stories I suppose but it never used to happen nearly as much. Good old  Dave Stringer etc. Also it creates less loyalty with players chasing money teams constantly change so much I tend to lose track.   Constant bad reffing decisions in almost every Premiership game every week. We have already had quite a few in our games and most have been against us. This also leads to managers "never seeing"  those in their favour eg. Wenger and even PL today, yet whingeing on TV when they go against eg. Wenger, not PL. I suppose these are highlighted when shown repeatedly in slow-mo on MOTD etc. but some refs do seem to want to be conspicuous these days, rather than being relatively anonymous as they were in the distant past.   Sick fan chants eg. Fashanu at Portman Road. Horrible.   The huge gap between rich and  poor clubs caused partly by the distibution of money by the Football League and Sky. I am bemused as to how many clubs from League One downwards survive, with such low gates, but think many will go under as professional clubs in the next decade. Running a professional football club is expensive at every level. Not just wages of players and staff, but also ground maintenance etc. and travel. How is it possible for them to survive with gates constantly below 5000?   Foreign mega-rich individuals eg. Abramovich being allowed to virtually take over the game here Paying ludicrous sums of millions for players and creating a false "mini-league" of super clubs, whilst the rest are left to be also-rans. Good old Delia. At least it hasn''t worked at Ipswich thus far.    The high cost of attending games these days. Fifty pounds in some cases. Perfectly ridiculous and gradually getting beyond the reach of the ordinary working fan with other severe financial restrainsts these days.   That''s seven, there might well be more.   I am a pessimistic bugger this morning, I know, but I am an old boy now and it is no longer the game I grew up with.   Why do I still love it so much? Perhaps because there are many obvious positives as well. I do, however anticipate a lot of critics.
 21. That was interesting Mr. Chops and goes a long way towards answering my original question.   The reference to Geylang United was amusing. Some will know what I am talking about.
 22. I like Merson on that programme,  he is an amusing character and a bit wayward, once calling Huckerby Huckleberry for eg. I agree with you about his daft comments today and for some reason he put us down, even ignoring our periods of superiority in the first half and at the end in his summing up. He is usually quite complimentary about us.   Perhaps, like Ruddy he had an off-day.
 23.
Has to start with morison next week
I did say that Bennett should be given  the super-sub role. Fully agree about Morison so the system has to be changed to accommodate Holt. We have Pilkington and two full-backs who attack and provide those two ( Morison and Holt) with plenty of ammunition from crosses. I just feel that Holt is too influential to be sitting on the bench.   Next week''s post from me will be "Ruddy''s hair transplant" Just to remain on the medical field.
 24.
When I read that I thought you meant Holt Enema.  The picture went through my head of Holt kissing his wrist before doing the procedure.
Oh dear. Trying to start a decent thread when full of Carling is prone to cock-ups like that.
