1. Just put a tenner on Gus Poyet at 8/1, I think he''s worth a shout. For me the favourites are - Hughton and Poyet. Then possibly Lee Clark and the boy Malky. Then a whole herd of no hopers. Mind you it will probably be someone completely off radar like the guy who seems to have landed the Swansea job!
 2.
If McNally is to use his contacts then Neil Lennon has to be a better bet than cheap, not good enough for Huddersfield Town in League 1 - Clark. That would rank alongside Gunn as the worst management appointment at Carrow Road in years.
My word you do have a very selective memory!! Clark may not have actually got Huddersfield up but they had three seasons under him being leading promotion contenders. If he was THAT bad, the whole thing would have fallen apart  big time. It didn''t!
 3.
Exactly Jed [Y] I certainly hope some of our brainless directors at Carrow Road are not sourcing these messageboard''s for fans opinions. Go out and get your own man again Mr McNally!
But that man might just be Clark - they had a spell at Fulham together when Clark was finishing his playing career. If McNally recalls him a s a potential manager / leader, don''t be surprised if he gets him in. Not sure he''s my top choice but I certainly wouldn''t be surprised to wake up by the weekend and hear he''s taken it.
 4.
Not excited because the names mentioned in terms of a replacement just don''t excite me at all. Malky, Steve Bruce, Chris Hughton - poor selection.
Bet you said the same in August 2009! Paul ''who'' was the comment from most on this Board. Chris Hughton did a damn good job at Newcastle and last season at Brum (with zilch by way of cash to spend). Wouldn''t want Bruce but either of the others would be more than acceptable.
 5.

Just discussing it. Apparently if PL goes, NCFC want Malky to replace him. I wouldn''t be too disappointed with that!
Why wouldn''t you be disappointed? He''s only managed for one season and failed to get his team even into the Play Off Final.   Surely we must capitalise on our hard earned status and attract as prestigious a boss as possible. If not we simply repeat the error last time when we replacemed of Worthington with Grant. Despite being in the Championship we were still an attractive prospect to potential managers with our squad and recent Prem experience.   No offence to Malky - he was a great player for us and seems a top bloke but why do we have to take the gamble?
Need to get your facts right mate!!
 6.
Malky just wouldn''t cut it in the Prem.
Why? PL did and what ''previous Premiership experience'' did he have?
 7.
If Lambert did go which he wont, OGS would be a great appointment aswell as softening the blow by giving a little bit of satisfaction the fact he rejected Villa.
But he has gone - why do you refuse to believe the inevitable?
 8.
The difference is YR, that Lambo brought us up and deserved the chance to give it a go in the Prem. We would be bringing in a guy who has little experience to fight in the best league in the world. I think we need someone with plenty of experience to keep us up
No - we need the RIGHT manager, previous ''experience'' can be massively overrated. Fact is PL had zero Premier League  experience and did a fantastic job. I''m not saying it must be Malky just that we shouldn''t discount any candidate just because they haven''t managed in the Premier League before. There are plenty of out of work ex Premier League managers who I wouldn''t touch with a bargepole!
 9.
Culverhouse, Lee Clark and Poyet, - in that order - I doubt whether Bruce has what it takes, Martin O''Neill seems fixed and Malky lacks experience at this level.
Er - and PL did have experience at this level didn''t he (NOT!!). Malky did a  damn good job at Watford  who were in serious financial troubles and he had to make do with younsters and bosman signings. At Cardiff he inherited the Dave Jones squad which was then dismantled and, again, he had ...''to make do''. Last season they only just lost the Carling Cup on penalties and got to the play offs! Not a bad record I''d suggest. Malky will be a top manager in the game, if he''s interested we would be totally stupid to pass that chance up.
 10. We all said the same about Deehan being the ''brains'' behind Walker in that partnership. Look what happened when Deehan was promoted. Good No 2''s very rarely make it as the ''gaffer'' - that requires a completely different mentality. Culverhouse as ''manager''? Er - sorry, not for me.
 11.

Thought Mcnally made the decision, CEO is in charge of everything I thought?
No. The day to day and week to week running of the club, yes. But the major decisions in any company are made at board level, and football clubs are no different. If Lambert wants to leave it will be the directors who decide whether or not to let him go. And if he does go his replacement will be chosen by the directors. McNally might have a particular recommendation, but that is all; it won''t be his decision.
Oh it most certainly will be London! Gone are the days of endless interviews, psychometric tests, short list, second interviews and then Q&A with The Cook. McNally decides, the board just rubber stamp.
 12. It''s very disappointing that the testimonial is being totally hijacked by the contiuning speculation about Lambert and more so with the totally out of the blue transfer request from Holt. Holt is no fool, he knew the Celtic match was only days away and also knew that many fans would be a tad ''annoyed'' at his action (whatever the reasons). No way will I take part in any booing for the well documented reasons re Holt''s contribuiton over three great years. However, there will be a few who do give him some verbals and that will detract from the occasion. I can''t think of any reason why he had to put in a request anyway - his agent will have told clubs of his ''availability''. Unless this is all some cleverly stage managed game (which I doubt) I think Holt has handled this very badly.
 13.
With 2 mates. 1 "supports" Chelsea and the other "supports" Arsenal. There were about a half dozen Chelsea "fans" in the pub as well... When Chelsea won the match there was no raucous celebration, no jumping about, no going crazy. Just a few loud "YES"s from all  of them before they finished their drinks and walked out... I''m making this post because I am so glad Norwich City is the club that it is. We arent a plastic, bank rolled club- finally winning the Champions League after years and years of investment. Player''s attitudes might have changed and good luck to them- they just reflect a greedy -  me me me element of society. NCFC supporters are incredibly loyal- the past few years prove this. I''d sacrifice success (as a result of mass investment) for the loyalty shown by our  fans in recent years. I''ve enjoyed the games this season because of the wonderful away trips, travelling up and down the country (and Wales!) meeting fellow Yellows at various away grounds. Mangers and players come and go. Being a supporter is a life-time commitment.
Great post Shaker - I know the match was in the Bayern stadium who had about 3/4 of the fans but the lack of any noise from the Londoners until the equaliser was shocking. Even when Chelsea attacked (which was rare) their ''fans'' failed to rouse themslves out of their bored slumber.   It was the same in the FA Cup Semi Final v Spurs, all the noise came from the Tottenham end which is why I was backing the Germans last night. I had a very dear friend who died a couple of years ago who was lifelong Tottenham and you can say what you like, Spurs play football the right way and their fans haven''t been spoilt by having a billionaire buy countless trophies for them hence Spurs fans are still far more in tune with the ''real football fan'' than those who purport to ''support'' Arsenal, Chelsea or Man Utd. Chelsea - Champions of Europe? My God they are the worst team to land that tin pot for many a long year!
 14.
No we don''t, Ole Gunnar will go to Villa, Lambert will stay and wave his magic wand and Holt will go to Sunderland or Spurs for £8m giving us more to spend. Morison and Vaughan will hit form next season, our defence will be even better as we will recruit, the board will shell out £4m for Naughton to appease fans when Holt leaves and Ayala will prove an instant success with Bennett. All is fine... (i hope!)
I assume this was one big joke Jimmy as it certainly reads like one!! No-one in their right mind will pay anything like Â£8M for the boy Holt. If he was 25 then perhaps, at 31 not a cat in hells chance.
 15. The boy Zak has allegedly been offered £40k (!!) per week at Sunderland. I rated Zak highly - our best center back by some distance (when fit of course!). Hell of a gamble by MON - Zak doesn''t do run of the mill, out fir a week type injuries. When he''s out, he''s gone for months. MON won''t like that. Has short sympathy for regularly injured players (again, allegedly you understand). We need an experienced center back to come in and provide organisation and leadership and to help steady the two unproven youngsters.
 16.
This is the sort of analysis I like, Lambert getting credit for his qualities but low enough down the list only to be considered an outsider. However....my gut still tells me that a move to Villa is a very real possibility. Why? Well, Lambert is astute enough to realise that repeating this year''s achievements with us next year would be a real struggle, therefore he will perceive that his stock may well be peaking at the moment and that were he to wait another year, he might not be such a ''hot property'' and therefore not be seriously considered for similar roles.
Spot on dpit - thats why I think it''s a ''done deal'' that PL will leave (if he has''nt already). Mind you there has been over 48 hours of ''silence'' since McLeish was culled with precious little by way of rumour (even on the Villa forums). Whether the lack of movement (public anyway) is a good thing for us or not is a hard one to call. Maybe they are looking at others, maybe PL and the clubs are quietly negotiating terms with an announcement soon?? Who knows.
 17.
Be it Villa or Liverpool the manager''s job is pretty limited. It''s the same at other big sides where the hiring of players and the arrangement of contracts is done aside of the manager. The coaching is done by a number two and so the manager has a limited role. The image of one of British football''s greatest playes, one of its most successful managers and a living legend at Liverpool FCC summoned to the States to genuflect to the owner of the franchise is like something out of Animal Farm. Norwich might not be about to finish top four or win silverware; they might only have survival in mind next season and have relatively modest means but, by God, if you are the manager of Norwich City you are the king. At Norwich you will earn less, but you buy the players you choose, you measure success in other ways such as polishing up some gems like Pilkington, Bennett R and E, Howson et al. You set up the side, you deal with the media, it is holistic and the people you work for are local, approachable and true supporters. So, Paul, do you want to continue to be your own man, doing it your way or are you prepared to be a franchise puppet. I suspect Martin O''Neil was not.
Excellent post Rudolph - makes much sense. Thing is though managers are often swayed by the ....''massive club / challenge / fan base / tradition / sleeping giant'' propoganda  that they lose objectivity. Lerner will pay PL a lot more and ''promise'' him a war chest. Like Fat Man Chase in 1995 though, that promise may turn out to be rather hollow, PL will find out in good time. I hope he reflects calmly on his long drive back along the A14 that he is giving up a damn good thing here for much expectancy and financial uncertainty at Villa Park. Unfortunately though the fact is that the job IS a  perceived step up and he probably feels that it will be very difficult to emulate this season again should he decline the job. PL will end up at Villa Park - I think it''s been a done deal for sometime now.
 18. It''s not so much losing PL that worries me. If that happened, the FCR vacancy would be one of the most sought after in the English game, there is no doubt aboout that. No, I''m not saying anything about us being ....''a big club'' or similar such rubbish. Just that there is a damn good squad of players here, damn good fan base (which is nowhere near as fickle as most other clubs), debt on the way down, a much more professionally managed business now that The Cook has basically ''retired'' from meaningful day to day involvement and we are held in very high regard by many top people in the game. No - what would scare me is the fact that PL would come back and raid FCR for quality players - look at Fox and Tierney as examples, Russell Martin as well. If truth be told, I think a number of our players would jump at the chance to team up again with ......''the gaffer''. Look at Howson - that boy could turn out to be one of our best ever signings. Quite why a top six club failed to take him is beyond me. Has he any loyalty to Norwich as  a club, city or place to live? Of course not!  Has he loyalty to PL though as the manager who got him to The Premiership? You bet he has!! Test for the boy McNally would be if he could (immediately) land a damn good replacement. Whether the guy he had lined up a long time ago now is still ''available'' we may be about to find out.
 19.
If he was aiming at securing a European football place next season I''d imagine Paul Lambert would consider that to be more achievable with Norwich than a run-down club like Aston Villa. American owner, fickle fans, local accents that sound miserable irrespective of any emotion, a tired, creaking old stadium and dowdy, grubby-looking club colours everywhere you look. Right now most up-and-coming managers would probably see the jobs at WBA or Wolves as more attractive options in the midlands.   Over here, the future is bright, the future is yellow.
Ah you serious?? I went to Villa Park for the league game in 2005 and it''s one of the most  impressive stadiums I''ve ever seen. Carrow Road or Villa Park..........now let me see, that''s a difficult choice. Sorry Mustard, from a ''stadium'' point of view Villa Park is light years ahead of us. As for Wolves being a ''more attractive'' job, sorry, you must be joking. Either that or you''re taking the you know what!!
 20. Wow - that was some match and occasion! Yellow Rider (and YR junior) were fortunate to secure access to the Aviva corporate box (offer via work) so made the trip to the stadium for the first time with trepidation but also some excitement as we couldn''t defend as badly as last week, could we?? The stadium from the outside is strange in some ways - a vast glass, concrete circular bowl - it all looked the same. Having said that the ground (and walkways outside) are draped in drawings, pictures, tributes etc. to the greats of the past. Now I''m no fan of Arsenal, quite the reverse in fact. Wenger may be a good coach producing teams of sublime quality but his behaviour and comments over the years have been disgraceful to be honest. Fact remains though that with 13 league championships and 10 FA Cups under their belt, today we took on one of the most famous clubs in the world. That club absolutely drips with tradition and heritage.       Most of the party we were with were Yellows and the view we had immediately behind the North Bank end was awesome. After less than two minutes heads were in hands - why is it that we stand off attackers down our right back area, show them inside and they seem to almost leisurely curl in a goal into the far top corner!! Within minutes though it was clear that the team were up for the challenge and with Arsenal thinking they could stroll through, it was no surprise when a sweeping move saw Wes slide in the equaliser (hash up by the keeper though). Equally, though, no surprise either when the boy Holt pounced albeit with a massive deflection that saw the ball sail over the keeper, I was up way before the ball hit the net as it was a goal all the way! Second half saw Arsenal seriously stepping up the pace after what must have been the mother of all bollockings from the Frenchman! Even then Jackson spurned a gilt edged chance (and that''s why he must be moved on in the summer) to put us 3-1 up. The siege of the North Bank then set in with an amazing array of great defensive blocks, last gasp clearances and some seriously poor misses by Arsenal. The so called ''Library'' exploded with their two goals - some library!!   A lot of stuff was kicking off and Wes needlesly got a booking whilst Morison could easily have walked after two clear bookable offences. Holt was taken off before he could be sent off and it was frantic action all the way. Once we actually got the ball down and moving again late on I knew there was another goal in us and what a finish by the boy Morison!       It was a brilliant day and the team were an absolute credit. We can compete with anyone when we''re ''right at it'', anything less and we are no more than ''ordinary''. Defensively we were much tighter with Rusell Martin in the middle, Naughton at right back and a conventional left footer at left back! Marching back down to Finsbury Park, YR was proud, very proud to be ''all yellow''. To take a point at that stadium and against 55,000 fans was a stunning performance. Lets hope we can ''turn up'' against Villa and end the home matches on a high note. Today will live long in the YR memory bank that''s for sure!

What the hell type of drugs are some of you fans taking,i''ve never read or heard such a bunch of pathetic, over reacting, needless crap in all my life,we have had a fantastic season and are currently having a poor run, what happens? The thicko''s come out to play, slag of players,Lambert, tactics and start to look at how shit we are gonna be next season and how relegation is odds on,seriously carry on like this and i wouldn''t blame Lambert and some of our better players if they did move on,my christ then you''ld have something to get upset about, they have given their everything for us fans over the past 3 seasons and this is how some of you repay them, and when they need us the most, you ungratefull tools, you''re lack of understanding is absolutely shocking, your turning the club into a laughing stock, the media have noticed how you fools have turned on the club and frankly they can''t believe it either, please for the sake of the fans who want this club to carry on building on Lamberts and the players success, take your pea sized brains and your pathetic ideas of what a football fan is and jog on!!!!!!!!!!!
Really? Please give us the ''evidence'' to back up your ridiculous claims. The media I''ve listened to and read has been very complimentary about us this season and as for the fans......''turning on the club'' you really live in a fantasy bubble. What about the end of the Man City game? Many fans stood and applauded the team off the field after we''d been thrashed. Unless it escaped your notice PL remarked on that post match. Yesterday a worse performance saw us stuffed (it could easily have been much worse than 3-0) and was there any booing at the end? No. Did you go to Blackburn? Again, at the end were the players jeered and booed off? No.  You have''nt got a clue what ......''turning on the club'' even looks or sounds like. Try asking someone from Aston Villa what it was like at the end of their recent home defeat v Bolton. Try listening to the constant abuse and anti manager / owner chants coming from Blackburn fans. Then compare that with the reaction of Norwich fans at recent defeats. When you''ve done that how about coming back and apologising for writing that load of drivel.
Apologise for telling the truth,i think not!! The boos at half time yesterday sounded exactly like the boos at Villa park to me,someone shouting what a load of shi*e to Morrison as he comes of the pitch isn''t turning on a player? And as for the media it was mentioned on Sky this morning that sections of the crowd made their feelings known at half and full time, also Kammy said on Sky that Norwich fans need to stay behind the team as we have had a bad run but a great season, ridiculous claims,no mate the bloody truth!!! I don''t live in a fantasy bubble, the fans that are moaning about the team are the ones in fantasy land,we have had a cracking season but all they can do is bloody moan!!
I agree Phat that we have had a cracking season as you put it and the last thing we need is for fans to start slagging players, managers etc. off. However, provided that''s done from behind a keyboard and does''nt manifest itself into outright hostility at a match then I can''t see there being a problem. Yes - I did hear an isolated boo at half time yesterday which in true FCR fashion lasted all of two seconds (no exagerration).    You compare that with what happened at Villa the other night! Sorry - you are totally wrong. If you don''t believe me then phone up Pat Murphy from Five Live. He has reported on  West Midlands teams for well over 20 years and see how he described the ''torrent of abuse'' that McLeish got. Believe me the situations are light years away from being similar.    Another example - take Bolton. There was a home match a month or so back and they went a couple of goals down and each time a goal went in there was a storm of booing and abuse. I''ve said it before - I don''t condone booing as I''ve said above but you need to take off your ''politically correct'' glasses and experience what happens at other clubs. Believe me FCR is a ''walk in the park'' for home players and manager compared to elsewhere!  Oh and if Morison is getting the bird from a very small number of fans then perhaps he should look at himself and the way his body language portrays itself to the paying public. He perhaps might just think........''do you know what, I''m not exactly helping myself here at the moment''.

 23. Absolutely NIL chance I''m afraid! Old man Redknapp will bring in his London based favourites if he gets the job whilst Pearce would have brought Holt into the squad for the last friendly if he rated him. Sure GH has scored goals but unless he is right on top of his game and focused then he can look very ordinary indeed. At 31 I think the view outside Norfolk (pundits like Stan Collymore excepted) is that he''s a ''one season wonder''.
 24.
Does anyone know what was said between him and a fan about 10 rows back just to the left of the goal. Probably between 75-80 minutes through- I imagine the fans were abusing him, and he turned round and looked like he let rip with some kind of expletive, would be interesting to know what was said?
I saw the incident. I was in Row 4 and pretty close to Morison at the time. What happened was that a cross came in and Ward (who played the last 10 minutes at least up front as another forward) got some space but unfortunately got goalside of the ball and ended up heading the ball away from goal. Now, I''m no lip reader but it was pretty clear that Morison said something like.............''What! What the .... was that!''  He was not having a go at the fans but at one of his own colleagues. I''m sorry but that''s totally unjustified and only confirms my view that Morison has become a ''loner'' at the club. Like him or not, when / if he plays again, try watching his body language and communication. Then contrast that with the other players. Then you''ll see why PL must ship him out in the summer. Nothing to do with ability. Everything to do with teamwork and attitude.
 25.
A couple of twonks sit behind me all season they criticise ruddy for being awful and they say they hope he isn''t hear next season! I''d say he''s a ruddy good young keeper that will improve over the next 2/3 seasons and he''s allready knocking on the door of being in the england squad in my eyes. Really annoys me yes he makes mistakes but doesn''t every one in all walks of life? Morison isn''t lazy or rubbish he''s just going through a bad spell and it can''t help knowing that certain parts of the ground is moaning about him even before he comes on! The lad needs support and encouragement to get back to his best to get back to how he was at the start of the season. Some fans were complaining about Howson being rubbish! He''s a new boy to the league and seems to have settled in well and looks to me to be a quality addition to our squad, defently a captain for the future Why can''t we just support our team as a whole instead of finding faults with some and it seems as though some fans just want some one to moan at. I thought we got passed that but it seems not! really bugs me this!!!
If that''s the case then those  ''fans'' truly do need their heads examined. The boy Howson is quality (and I mean proper quality). He''s not played that many games for us yet and is still probably not quite 100% match fit after that injury lay off. I think he needs some quality alongside him though to shoulder some of the creativity. Thats'' where Wes comes in and he brings the best out of Howson.
