1. Why do we spend time and effort rationalising hatred of Leeds. I have hated them ever since they introduced those stupid little numbered tags on their sock holdy-uppy-things in the seventies and I don''t see any reason to change my opinion even though that was some 4 decades ago. Blind, irrational hatred is what makes football such an enjoyable tribal obsession. There - I feel better now! FYI - I prefer to hate Leeds and just feel sorry for the dweebs at the other end of the A140
2. "following our dramatic 2-1 win at Carrow Road (against Palarse) for Trevor’s penultimate game in a city shirt, but his last in front of nearly 37,000 adoring fans that night." I was a 12 year old kid at that match and can recall the atmosphere like it was yesterday! Didn''t realise it was Trevor Hockey''s penultimate match for us. He certainly left an impression on me - to be considered the Norwich hard man when Big Dunc was still kicking seven shades of ordure out of the opposition
3. On Wednesday, I turned my ankle on the step outside my office and fell heavily onto a railing. I''ve been off work since with cracked ribs. Grrrr!!! - Roeder!
4.
5-0 at Portman Road. Embarrassing!
Understatement! not a good day!
5.
Cool :) I wish Holty would get a hair style.. looks like a Dingle.
I read a quote on WACCOE that some Leeds fan thought "he looked like a bit of a pikey". I wouldn''t dispute it!
6. Top post on WACCOE at the moment is "Next season in League 1". Its all "Grayson Out" and "Bates Out" but they haven''t a clue as to how to stop the rot. End of the thread degenerates into Englishman, Scotsman, Irishman jokes. Getting a bit like shooting fish in a barrel!
7. Quote form WACCOE - Be afraid! be very afraid! "Cause when you go BBC site, league1 bit and see that Norwich manager c**t smirkin at his result p*sses me right off! Lets fu**king go on a run and wipe that smirk right off his alien face!" What a gent and a scholar!
8.
It''s the coldest place in the league
God, you soft southern wusses! It''s hardly on the top of Saddleworth Moor! Perhaps I''ve been "oop north" too long but you need to roll yer sleeves up and take a few breaths of bracing Lancs air. At least it should perk the lads up a bit and make them play a bit to stop hypothermia kicking in.
9. Great report BBJ, but I''m going to have to come across as a Special Constable for the Forum Police and ask you to look at your conjugation of the verb "to have". There is no such verb as "to of". Sorry - rant over.
10. Only boxing day memory really. Late seventies, at home to QPR. Freezing cold day. A load of guys behind us in the South Stand had been on the drink and had brought a Watney''s Party Seven to the ground. They polished off the beer then filled the can up with urine and parked it on the terrace. Not a problem until we scored and it got kicked over. Seven pints of steaming p**s flowing down the terraces like Niagra gets people animated. I can tell you. Christ, I can''t even remember if we won!
11. I don''t think "fairly harmless" is very complimentary!
12.
Clubs in the Midlands, eg Blackburn, Bolton etc
Did the earth just move for me or was I suddenly transported 100 miles south?
13.
Other than the League / Milk / Carling cup what other strange cup competitions have there been? Wasn''t there some kind of Watneys Cup back in the 70''s?
Great line from "Why is Rod Hulll alive" by Half Man, Half Biscuit" "...I wonder if they''ll bring back National Service and the birch, and I wonder, but I doubt that they''ll ever bring back the Watney Cup"
14. We regularly played in the Texaco Cup in the early/mid seventies. I remember me and my brother getting soaked in the (pre-roof) River End before watching us being beat 2-1 by the scum in either the final or semi-final (whatever it was, it was a two leg affair).
