Who would you buy with 3-6 million?
Yoda replied to Northern Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Hmmmmm.......... £6m should buy us plenty of quality. Enough to get back to the Premiership. Doubt if we''d get these players, but I would go for............. Koumas (WBA) £750K Sidwell (Reading) £1.5m Taylor (Tranmere) £1m Commons (Nottingham Forest) £700k Gabbidon (Cardiff) £1m Of the other players mentioned, Warnock has said Jagielka is going nowhere and Stone is considering going to Southampton. -
http://skysports.planetfootball.com/transfernews.asp?type=article&id=281858 Missed the boat again!!! Thomas has gone to Burnley according to SkySports. Worthington and co. need to pull their fingers out. I can see a lot of over the hill has been free transfers coming!!!
you obviously forget, Yoda, that whenever he goes up against a good right back, and can''t beat him the in his first threee attempts, he stops trying to beat him, gets disheartened, and just starts pla...
If that was the case, why was he the most fouled player in the Premiership? Not because he was playing 5-yard passes

Stephen How can you say that about Hucks? OK if he lost the ball he didn''t always track back, but you can''t say that he hasn''t got guts. He was always wanting the ball and at least giving it his all. His commitment to the cause was never in question. You must have confused him with somebody else.....
Everyone is going on about this guy, but i have never heard of him or took any notice of him up untill now. They thing that worries me is that on a Planet Football article about him, Tony Pulis says h...
Hmmm........ Seems he''ll fit right into Fleming''s boots then!!!

Do we want him? The guy only gave 100% in 1 game (Bolton). Skill (which he has plenty of) is an excellent commodity, but guts and commitment are required in the Fizzy League. His wages can be used elsewhere.

A Simple Message To All Players.

With you Wiz and Big A. Greeno has given good service to the club and I wish him well wherever he is next season. -
Benitez got it spot on but IMO Gerrard was the type of captain we could do with at Norwich. He really wants to win everything and was all over the pitch a leader.
The squad values on another topic range from £20m to £25m. Perhaps we should sell our whole squad and buy Gerrard. He played in virtually every position on Wednesday. The team would be as follows: GK: Gerrard DF: Gerrard DF: Gerrard DF: Gerrard DF: Gerrard MF: Gerrard MF: Gerrard MF: Gerrard MF: Gerrard CF: Gerrard CF: Gerrard By culling the squad like this, we would also be able to afford his wages.

Benitez came on after the game last night and said that at 1/2 time they ''talked about it''. Reading between the lines, it sounds like he at least discussed the matter with the players. I don''t know what goes on in Worthy''s dressing room at 1/2 time, but at times last season he was tactically naive. Wonder if he seeks the thoughts of his players before making decisions. By the way, best Champions League final by a long way. Well done Liverpool, hope UEFA let you defend the trophy. Every team needs a Hamman/Makelele type of player. Not only do they protect defences, they allow creativity from the wide defenders. Milan''s best foragers in the 1st half were Cafu and Maldini. Why? Because they had Gattuso sitting and holding.

The signing of Ashton has brought the best out in McKenzie. We always knew that his commitment and workrate was not in question. With Ashton alongside him he has come on in leaps and bounds. Granted he doesn''t have the best 1st touch, nor is he a natural goalscorer. But he works hard for the team and with his pace and agression, he will score a lot of goals in the Fizzy league. If Worthy does decide to let him go, he is worth more than £1.5m. Look at what Leeds paid for Rob Hulse. And McKenzie scored more than Hulse in the Premiership.

Squad values: Green - £3.5m Ward - £100k Gallagher - £150k Helveg - £150k Fleming - A £10 haircut voucher Shackell - £2.5m Drury - £500k Charlton - £50k Doherty - 2lb of carrots Jonson - £250k Holt - Ha Ha Ha!!! About £2.50 Francis - Whatever we can get for a player with no heart Safri - £1.5m Huckerby - £1.5m Henderson - £250k Ashton - £irreplaceable McKenzie - £2.5m Jarvis - £250k Svensson - £50k Total - £11,000,002.50 + Ashton Plus a decent haircut and the start of a good stew!!!
So this morning we see that Norwich are refusing to dismiss rumours that Rangers will make a £4M bid! £4M!!??? No bloody way. If sold Deano for that I would hit the bloody roof. Why don''t we take ...
£4m is an insult. If the club are considering offsetting any losses next year by selling him, he is worth at least DOUBLE. We must hold onto our best players to try to return to the promised land at the 1st go. If the club sell Ashton, get set for a supporters revolt.

Huckerby will stay............. He will supply the goals for Ashton and McKenzie. If Ashton was a 30 a season man at Crewe in the Championship, with Huckerby (and a quality midfield) supplying him (and McKenzie), Ashton will surely score over 30 (if he stays).
Read this week that Everton want him for 4 million plus Richard Wright in player/cash deal. I say 6 million on it''s own, we have enough goalkeeper cover.
Quite right. What do we want Wright for? When Malcolm Webster was coaching Wright and Marshall, he also coached Green and said of the 3 he was the best prospect. Not a bad judgement. If Green goes, good luck to him. England''s future No.1. He has been a good servant to the club and could have gone 2 years ago. Can''t see £6m for him though. But £3m will go a long way towards strengthening the squad next year. All the best Greeno!!!!!!!!!!

I''m with you Tumbleweed. MM was never given the opportunity to play in the Premiership, which his Champoinship winning performances deserved. MM was not the biggest, or quickest. But what you got was 500% commitment and organisation. I lost count of the amount of goals we conceded from set plays last year, because nobody knows who was picking up who. Blame? Lies clearly with the Captain. Nobody else. Worthy sees something in him nobody else does, obviously!!!!!!!!!!!
-
It is obvious given last season''s shortcomings that our defence needs shoring up...........and quick. I would go for Jagielka (Sheff. Utd) or Taylor (Tranmere) at right back, Gabbidon (Cardiff) to replace Fleming. There seems to be rumours about Ward of Millwall. Won''t that be interesting, especially if Green goes. Worthy had better make sure that he gets the right Ward to put the gloves on!!!! Midfield will also need bolstering. Bentley will go back to Arsenal. There is no way that he will stay another season. Francis will go to a premiership club (good riddance and pity the poor sods who get him, especially if they are drawn into a relegation dogfight). To replace them, Koumas (WBA) is transfer listed. I would also love to see Sidwell of Reading here. I''m pretty sure we enquired about him just before he went to Reading, so we know what he''s about. Forwards. Jarvis has got potential, but needs to be playing regularly. Can see him on a season long loan somewhere in League 1. Don''t know if Svensson will stay, so back up is needed. Suggestions anyone???

Is there any money for new players?.
Yoda replied to First Wizard's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Sure I saw somewhere Worthington said that he would be able to strengthen even if he didn''t sell/cull. I like the ''spend what you earn'' quote. Will we be seeing Messers. Worthington, Foley and Livermore busking on London Street? -
Gallagher Jagielka Gabbidon Shackell (C) Drury Koumas Safri Sidwell Huckerby Ashton McKenzie Subs. Ward, Jonson, Fleming, Henderson, Svensson Yoda.............wake up, you''re dreaming.
http://www.reuters.co.uk/newsArticle.jhtml?type=sportsNews&storyID=731535§ion=news&src=rss/uk/sportsNews He could be goodish? Longy
Are you havin'' a laugh??? McManaman is a 30something whose best days are behind him. Plus his wages would be too much. Koumas (released by WBA) and Steve Sidwell of Reading would be excellent additions to our midfield. Cheerio Francis and Bentley.
-
Yeah i also saw this earlier this morning. He''s still got one year left on his contract so we should get some money for him, probably about 250k maximum because of his age. Worthy, if you are reading...
Good call Francesco. Jagielka is quality and his wages wouldn''t be nowhere near as much as Helveg. Doncaster has said that Worthington can use the money saved etc. to strengthen. Doubt if Warnock will let him go though. Especially to another club who are looking for promotion/play-offs........
-
Only 1 candidate. Has to be Shackell. In the last few games of the season he seemed to be the only one of the back four with any organisational sense.
-
Perhaps Killie will take him back. If they have watched him this season I don''t think so. The man can trap a ball further than I can kick it. He doesn''t get booked because he doesn''t get near enough to the opposing players to get a tackle in. Granted, he was a steady performer in the Championship, but the Premiership is a bridge too far. Worthy needs to weed out all the dead wood and has started to do by releasing Edworthy and Stuart (can''t understand Crow though). Holt, Doherty and Fleming next with any luck. Who does he bring in though.......................?
