1.
if we were in the top 6 play offs by playing long ball i would not complain , depends what people mean by long ball if just punted up field or long direct passing ( a good skill ) to a target man who uses his skill to bring it down and score or set up others all takes skill in fact more skill than we use passing 5 yards to each other
Exactly this. My point is his tactics are far more than just ‘simple’ long ball, as the uneducated put it.
 2.
Be careful what you wish for. Players like Murphy are quite rare and we''ll never find a similar replacement with our meagre funds. Hernandez for all his huff and puff has arguably a worse final ball than Josh and already injured.
I usually agree with this sentiment, but I believe there’s is better out there in this case. And by better I mean all round game, and consistency. Ben Marshall for example, quality loan signing for Millwall which has coincided with there fantastic run. He’d have been a great signing for us.
 3.
Cowley plays simple long ball tactics to a big striker. Which to be fair, would probably suit Ipswich.
Simple long ball tactics, you clearly don’t have a clue about Cowleys tactics! Aside from tactics, Cowley and his brother are fantastic man mangers who get 110% out of every player. They’ve been a revelation at Lincoln and completely transformed the club. Their both extremely loyal and likeable. Whether they can transfer their talents to a bigger club with higher expectations is unknown. But they certainly have the ingredients to.
 4. £10 million and I’d snapped anyone’s hand off. On his day, fantastic at what he does. But his days are far to infrequent. And when he’s not on form, he’s virtually non existent and becomes a passenger. If I were Murphy I’d be staying at Norwich.
 5.

He’s never settled on a preferred system or first 11
And would you expect him to? Have you not been following the changes and the ideology behind the way things are going to be? Have you not listened to any of Farke''s interviews? There isn''t going to be a preferred system, there isn''t going to be a preferred first eleven every match. Farke has said all along that the squad has to be flexible enough and intelligent enough to switch systems, sometimes within a game, not just week to week and that all players will be needed and used - as long as they are up to the job he wants them to do. That results/performances haven''t yet lived up to what we all want is more down to the players he inherited and him trying to adapt them, rather than getting in players that will understand what is required straight away. The extra training, the intelligence to be able to take on new ideas, the extra training - all the players have to be up for that. That is precisely why it has been said it will take three or four transfer windows before we see the best results. It is a work in progress. It''s not hard to understand......
Jesus LDC, your the gift that keeps on giving! What a load of utter nonsense. Following the changes? I’ve been trying to, but I don’t think anyone follows the changes as proven by the reaction to last nights team selection. Ideology? I don’t care about ideology. If it’s not effective and not getting the results then who else cares? Unless the idea is mid table championship footballer. I don’t think the phrase ‘away with the fairies’ is enough of a description for your hallucinating perception of reality.
 6.
No Lincoln, your attack is baseless. What did Farke stand to lose from trialing different formations and personnel at the end of the season, in a match where the opposition would be gunning for it? Surely he needs to see what players have learnt over the course of 40+ games and hundreds of training sessions. I think your comments show your naivety with regards to football management to be honest mate.
What are you going on about? Are suggesting he’s only been trailing different formations and personal recently? It’s clear to pretty much everyone that he’s been doing this for most of the season. He’s never settled on a preferred system or first 11. And as a few have alluded to, it’ll be no surprise to see him continue in this vein next season.
 7. Sorry Ian, but your defence is flawed. He’s consisntanly rotated the squad and choped and changed the first 11 throughout the season. And if he was giving players a go.. surely Raggett would’ve featured? He looks no where near a settled first 11 or system.
 8.
Cowley would be wasted there
I really hope he doesn’t go there. He’s exactly the sort of manager they need. Hopefully they opt for Mowbray instead.
 9. I think tonight illustrates further Farkes naivety in regard to the English game. I just don’t think he grasps how competitive this league is. You can’t keep rotating and picking out of form players against the so called lesser teams. To get out of this league at the right end you need consistency, which starts with team selection. We had three different formations on show tonight. Furthermore two players he brings back into the fold are substituted at half time! It’s nearly indefensible.
 10.

i would go get Danny Cowley from lincoln city up and coming young English Manager who knows how to fire a team up to win
I''ve heard he''s off to Portman Road.
Bloody hope not. I really like him!
 11.
2 out of the 4 changes Farke made were substituted at h/t. Totally bizarre selection and management.
Exactly. Farke isn’t looking very good is he.
 12.
That a couple of million off his transfer fee!
In that case we’ll be paying someone 2 million to take him.
 13. Maybe we can shut up shop and bring a third defender of the bench? Raggett maybe...
 14.

Sunderland a big club? The ground is empty. Obviously only big when their winning.
it does look desertedplayer selection is often determined by who is thought to best to deal with the opposition
Well that went catastrophically wrong at QPR didn’t it.
 15.
Managing tiredness and workload for three games in eight days. Whether you like who has been brought it or not it''s not difficult to work out why changes have been made.
There’s only 4 games left of the season ffs! Play your best team. We’ve been rotating and resting all season.. not really worked has it. Wouldn’t have had this nonsense under Worthy....
 16.
Having watched him many times i would like us to sign Nakhi Wells. A different type of striker with an instinct of simply knowing where the net is. Underused at Hudds and now Burnley. Guess that may give a message but he would add something to our attacking options. He is 5ft 8 so not the big front man but he has the knack of appearing and being in the right place. Other than Wells, i would go for Dack. Obviously the above won''t be cheap (2/3/4m unless prices continue sharply upwards?) but they are realistic choices.
Do you honestly think we could get either? Personally I think Wells is a little overrated. In and out of the Huddersfield side in the championship.
 17.

At the risk of getting slated, I don''t think losing James Maddison will be the end of the world. I have watched him with amazement this season and feel privileged to have such a gifted player in the team. I''ve not had the same excitement of "what is he going to do today" for a long time. That being said I think the other players know of his quality too so will sometimes link to him and rely on him to do something rather than take a ball on themselves or look for a different pass. It will be a big loss if/when he goes, and his contribution this season has been immeasurable; however i think it wouldn''t be the end of the world, the remaining players may then start playing differently and create more chances for others. I concur we definitely need the attacking force to pick up or create those chances though! If NO goes and we''re able to get a younger player who is hungrier then thats a good sign
This is certainly a good point and I agree with a lot of what you''re saying. The only thing I would say is that those three players you mention in Leitner, Trybull and McLean aren''t what I''d call ''all round'' midfielders. Where are the goals coming from with those three? I am not sure Mclean will replicate the same goal scoring form he''s shown in Scotland here in the Championship.Maddison can do it all- set pieces, mazy dribbles, tackle, accurate passes and score goals from his position. Which is why I am struggling to see who we could get in to perform a similar role. Bradley Dack at Blackburn is definitely worth a punt to fulfil this role though, in my opinion. Similar stats to Madders, albeit in a lower league.
Bradley Dack is a decent player who should excel in the championship. But we’ve missed the boat on that one as I can’t see Blackburn failing to go up. The number 10/creative midfielder position is one we’ve been spoilt with over the years and probably over stocked in, this summer we’ll be without one.
 18. Sometimes, rather than individuals, it’s who you bring through together. Collectively these players could make an impact. Sum of the parts and all....
 19.

Well, I don''t know about anyone else but I think this thread has been a monumental success. It turns out that no-one who boo''d is even on the PinkUn. Yay!
Like Delia & Co your ambitions seem to be very limited...
Lol!
 20. Great result for Lincoln, and another cracking season. Sean Raggett was one of their star players before he left to join us. He needs to be given a chance soon.
 21.
Don''t renew your tickets please. You didn''t deserve what followed.
We need everyone we can get. Looked an awful lot of empty seats today. I’ve not seen it like that for a very long time. Despite an overdue positive result, I think that speaks volumes and illustrates perefecly the direction of where the club is currently heading under Webber and co.
