1. As have I. Opinion is opinion and we are each entitled to one. Good natured debate on the Pink Un? Surely not!
2. I understand human nature perfectly Wiz. What I don''t understand is why human nature is such a hive of paranoia. Bryan Gunn has always wanted the best for Norwich City Football Club and you cannot seriously tell me that Gunny would look for any way to leech off the club if he does not need to to benefit it. What if for example, the ultimate sin was committed, and Butters got the job? What''s to say he wouldn''t offer Gunn the goalkeeping coach job, which puts to bed your opinion of the workings of human nature, as until we know who the new manager will be we cannot possibly say that he would not extend the offer to Gunny in some capacity, goalkeeping coach or otherwise. Basically, my friend, you are working on pure speculation, and just as it is human nature to be so, you are often incorrect. As am I.
3. No, but can you guarantee it won''t? Crichton has clearly failed in my eyes....Theo''s performance is an insult to the club. If you can give me a reason why Paul Crichton would do a better job than Bryan Gunn as goalkeeping coach, I would love to hear it. My reason to the contrary is that he was a much better goalkeeper so should be able to coach much more effectively goalkeeping wise Your first example would apply if we were talking about a retired manager coaching other managers, then I would understand. Can you give me any examples of good ex-players who wound up coaching their position and failed?
4. Referring to one of our greatest ever goalkeepers as a leech just goes some way to explain why some people can simply never be happy. If anyone deserves to leech off us, Bryan Gunn deserves to. Paul Crichton? All he ever did was pick the ball out of the back of the net. "No incoming manager is going to tolerate his players being coached by the exmanager." Is that fact, Wiz, or just pure assumption. I, personally am banking on the latter. If I had just taken the job I would be more than happy to have a brilliant goalkeeper coaching my keepers, regardless of his previous occupancy at the club. But like I said, some people can never be happy. Think on that.
5.
Forget Theoklitos and Alnwick .... Rudd and Steer are far more important.
Yes, lets just not coach the first team goalkeepers...they don''t need it. :O
6. And LMFAO if you can even suggest Crichton is doing a good job on the back of 7 in the net at home with a whole preseason to work with Theo, then you surely didn''t attend the debacle of the 8th.
7. I can tell you now, I sit right next to the dugout and Crichton stands there and is barely ever heard to be communicating with the man between the sticks. I didnt say Gunny was owed anything, but he was a million times better keeper than Crichton was, and surely a better coach, Crichton is just as much an ex-keeper as Gunn, so why not at least get a good ex-keeper?
8. And get Gunny in as Goalkeeping coach!   Why did we ever need a keeper coach (and one who was a sheeite keeper at that) when our manager was a goalkeeper? Gunn one on one with Theoklitos and Alnwick is sure to get results. Any thoughts?
9. Whaley or Adeyemi, what a thing to debate in a time when our club is right up the shitter.
10.

Just came back on to correct myself, you are right, Whaley :) Regardless... what a shot it was :)
Don''t correct yourself, you were right the first time, it was Adeyemi.
No Smudge, it was Whaley, the Football League show commentator got it wrong, I heard it on Radio Norfolk, and I saw the number 11 (Whaley''s squad number) on his back as he hit the shot on the highlights.
11.  I feel that after the Colchester humiliation, things were beginning to look up after we dismantled Yeovil 4-0 away at Huish Park in the Carling Cup. That is, until the decision to sack Bryan Gunn was taken a few days later. If the Board were going to sack Gunn, why not sack him after a 7-1 humiliation rather than a 4-0 win? Gunn said after the 4-0 win that "the season starts here", well, for him it came to an abrupt end. After Yeovil I was convinced we would still go straight back up but following Gunn''s sacking I do not know what to think. It all hinges on whether our failure of a Board can get something right for once and appoint a man with the experience to take us back up. In my opinion all our eggs should be in Steve Coppell''s basket, as he is proven at most levels of the English game, and I feel would be an assured choice and would result in our promotion. Today''s result, had any of us been focussing on it in light of recent occurrences, was poor. A point away is a point away, but if we are to achieve McNally''s goal of promotion, I feel we need to be smashing teams like Exeter, with all due respect to them, no matter whether home or away. We have by far a stronger squad than Exeter, and had we played with the confidence we played with after scoring at both Yeovil and Exeter for the full 90 minutes, I am confident that we could have taken 3 points. However, we did not play anywhere near our apparent full capability. You can say it was the disruption of Gunn''s sacking and attribute everything to that, but for me I think that is a complete copout of an excuse. In my opinion the team picked against Yeovil and Exeter was a team picked by an amalgamation of Crook and Butterworth and not Bryan Gunn. I think Gunny picked the team against Colchester, hence the Crook and Butterworth argument as Gunny wanted the final say as he thought he knew what he was doing... Gunn then may well have taken a step back and essentially said, go on then, you pick a winning team... More evidence that this was the case comes in with the fact that according to interviews with Gunn, he had intended to keep Theoklitos for Yeovil, and then surprise, surprise, he was dropped. I think the gag order was placed on the players by McNally, in case of anyone revealing the bustup between Crook, Butterworth and Gunn, as the former duo believed the latter had picked the wrong team at Colchester, and Gunn begged to differ, eventually giving in after McNally had a word in his ear. Of course, all of my claims here are unfounded, but I had a bloody good go at explaining the strange goings on at our fine club over the last few days. HY
12. And now he''s our second choice goalkeeper.   Curiouser and curiouser....
13. and because your posts go unnoticed in this elitist forum where only threads by those with a million posts get noticed...   BUMP!"
14. If- With apologies to Rudyard Kipling   IF you can win your headers when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust your keeper with a backpass, But make allowance, for he''s only 5 foot 2; If you can run and not just stand there waiting, Or watch a flick from Platt, fly past your head, Lisbie is hated, but deserved a 5 star rating, Gunn, things don''t look too good, get Dennis Wise: He might be shit - but he won''t buy you Nelson; If you can think - then Doherty you aren''t; If you can catch a winger who''s much faster And catch the cross, though Theoklitos can''t; If you can bear to dream of false promotion Brentford and co could make us look like fools, We''d watch the things we gave our lives to, broken, Cos Delia, Wynn, and Foulger are all tools: We could fill an eggcup with our winnings Cos Delia just doesn''t give a toss, We lose, and we are promised new beginnings But Sunday morn awakes to one more loss; If you can force your transfer through to Derby  Then just like Sammy Clingan, you are gone, And our left winger Wes is set to join them Cos there''s no ambition left to say: ''Hold on!'' We can talk about our crowds and keep our virtue, But when Marlon King - sprints through from a nice touch, His left, his right, and too, his head can hurt you, The Doc won''t halt him, he''s no Daryl Sutch; If we could last for the whole ninety minutes If Semmy can be arsed for once to run, Ours is the League and by God we might win it And - which is more - you''ll be a Manager, Bryan Gunn!
15. Imagine this scenario. Simon Whaley has the ball on the edge of the opposition penalty area. Grant Holt is just inside the area being marked by the opposition centre back. Wes Hoolahan is running in from the left wing, left unmarked by the opposition right back. The scenario plays out: Whaley runs into the area, the central defender leaves Holt unmarked and attempts to make a challenge on Whaley, the keeper comes out and attempts to smother the ball, before he does, Whaley knocks the ball to the unmarked Holt who fires into an empty net. Wes remains unmarked throughout the scenario.   So, who is at fault? A- The goalkeeper for leaving his line to attempt to smother the ball when a striker had been left unmarked with an open goal? B- The central defender for leaving his man unmarked in the first place? C- Or is the goalkeeper at fault as well for not staying on his line and leaving his goal gaping when the central defender had left a striker unmarked, giving him no realistic chance of saving the shot?   Answer please. I''m not divulging when this scenario took place in case of bias. Cheers. HY
16. Then in my humble opinion he should walk tonight. GK Alnwick (Theoclueless was not good enough) RB Spillane (Semmy has awesome pace when he tries but is too docile.) CB Askou (The most promising of the CBs in preseason) CB Nelson (mistake prone, but less so than the hapless Captain Clueless himself) LB Drury (Adam did well IMO, was fighting a losing battle alongside the other useless and abysmal three) RM McVeigh (Am I deluded? All I can say is when I screamed in frustration watching Simon Whaley dribble it to their full-back for the umpteenth time, our Whaley was well and truly beached, and little WLY always did have a trick up his sleeve to beat a man and deserves a chance to show this) CM Hughes (Yes, OTJ looked promising, I will admit, but lacks the incisive passing demonstrated by Hughes in preseason when we showed little or no inventiveness today) CM Adeyemi (Old head on young shoulders and despite his age battled hard and shook Colly up when subbed on. Certainly did better than poor man''s Clingan, Matt Gill, who was Clingan in face but Fotheringham in pass) LM Hoolahan (If we hang on to the wee man, t''would be a miracle, so it would.) ST Maric (Goran knows where his elbows is and is more of a powerful presence than Holt, who although he did not do badly, and well in for the apology, lacks the bite of the big Serb, so give him a go) ST McDonald (pace, power, hungriness in abundance, and out-performed Super Chris, who was Super in preseason but Average today. Must start)
17. Three shining lights when all around them faltered. "You could hear a pin drop inside Carrow Road, and it was probably Theoklitos who dropped it"- Neil Adams ^ Classic quote. Theoklitos? Theoclueless more like WE WANT MARSHALL BACK. OTBC. Haven''t given up.....yet. :|
18. But surely only the deluded fail to see their own inaccuracies when those around them kindly point it out. And to prove I practice what I preach, perhaps a 7 for Jamie was a bit too kind, but he gave his all as far as I could see and was unlucky not to score. Unfortunately those last four words pop up next to his name far too often, but no, i wouldnt start him next season but i would give him a chance at a level in which he is proven.
19. Not negative, inaccurate. And judging by the replies you''ve received, you can''t question that.
20. Went down to watch the lads in Lower Barclay today, I''d rate them as follows. Alnwick 6- Saved a dodgy penalty but distribution looked a bit iffy, where''s Theoklitos? Otsemobor 5- Same old Semmy is all I can say, we need a new RB that''s for sure, so lazy, he did his job for the most part but was docile. Lappin 7- Simon had a fairly good game, some very nice passing play and very assured even when asked to step in at left wing when Wes went off (why?) Doherty 7- The Doc did all that was asked of him, until he gave away a penalty, luckily they seemed to have a Jamie in disguise among their ranks and was thwarted by Alnwick. Askou 7- Very controlled and composed with his head, not afraid to pass out of defence and found the HEAD of Cureton with a peach of a ball. Tudur Jones 7- As we know, he''s a big lad, feared he could be a bit dopey but looked very composed indeed, was always putting his foot in and is more of a Clingan replacement than Gill, and also came very close with an excellent powered down header which was only saved by the trailing leg of Heaton. Expect to see more of those at corners. WLY 7- Still got the deft touches, but no pace, combined well with the ineffectual Otsemobor before being subbed off. Adeyemi 8 (MOM)- For a young lad, an absolute powerhouse, great passing, got amongst the Utd lads and scored a sweet one, and then nearly scored another with a rather epic scissorkick. Martin 8- Chris was very unlucky not to score, chased every ball and was halted twice by last gasp defending from the Utd centre halves, combined well with Wes and Lappin. Cureton 7- Jamie looked like he was ready to die for the cause and even in a friendly did everything in his power to win the game for us, came close a couple of times but on his clearest chance, got cold feet in the box and was outmuscled. Hoolahan 8- Great skills and looked very assured, if he can show his preseason form in League One and maintain fitness, hes a player of the season contender for sure, always looking forward and never backward, the anti-Fotheringham if you will. Subs: Nelson 8- Im overusing the word composed, but Nelson truly embodies it and I am convinced that even if we sign Askou and use Nelson as cover for Askou and Doc we can be sure that if the situation arises he can more than do a job. Drury 7- Adam did all that he was asked to do, and again people overlook him for the leftback position but he can more than handle himself as he has proven and will be an excellent mentor for Wiggins. Gill 7- Showed good distribution but at times seemed a little uncommitted to the challenge. Nearly floated a sweet one past Heaton but it just flashed wide. Whaley 6.5- Would have merited a 7 on his pure pace and commitment, in an attacking sense hes everything Semmy should be, but was not fed enough of the ball to impress. Spillane 7- Barely noticed he was on the pitch, the key attribute of a good defender, surely a better right-back candidate than Otsemobor? Holt 6.5- Not enough time to really judge, although won a couple of good headers, would have liked to see him with his shooting boots on but 10 mins in preseason isnt really enough. Bright 7- Kris won the majority of headers that he was asked to, had no bloody idea who he was until I read the MB upon returning home, but could well be the targetman we are after as he looks very strong and an impressive goalscoring record. Just like to place on record how much I loved the "You all come from Yarmouth" chants to the plastic Utd fans, not a Mancunian accent in earshot I can assure you. Only negative from today was that we didn''t tonk the bastards. HY
21. Our classic, famous terrace song. But what happened to the end?I''m sure we used to finish it with"Hurrah, we''ve scored a goal, CITY *claps x3* etc"but now it just seems to end: "Now''s your chance, CITY etc"If this is because we barely ever do bloody score then fair enough,But I''ve never heard an explanation.Any ideas?
22.
No manager in his right mind would change the team that won on Tuesday other than for injuries. He would also be very foolish to bung in untried youngsters. We need experience on the field from the start and a line up that keeps things tight early on. It is most important not to go a goal behind in this fixture. If Gunny plays it right we can come away with another 1-0 win or at the very least a draw.
Untried youngsters?He''s 24 :S
