1. I''ve thought about this a lot and I think the reason we aren''t setting League One alight is simple. Leicester last year had a team full of players who were good enough for the Championship, because they kept the relegated team together. They strengthened in a couple of areas, but they had nucleus of a team. Charlton have this to their advantage this year. We were completely screwed over by Grant, with a plethora of naff signings, then Roeder made it worse by relying on the loan market and shipping out players who had an affinity with Norwich City. Thus dividing the playing staff and instilling general bad feeling about the place. Then, of course, our totally clueless board backed Gunn and let him bring in a host of freebies who simply aren''t good enough. We bought one player who was "proven" in League One in Nelson. However, he turns out to be a TOTAL donkey and we''re left with having to choose from Doherty and Spillane. Neither of whom are any good. Nelson is one of the worst defenders I''ve ever seen. I don''t care that he can head a ball, it''s pointless when you''re about a quick as a frozen turd and completely useless with your feet. It''s called football for a reason people. Oh, and ps, he''ll NEVER EVER score a goal like that volley at Hartlepool again.Still, I don''t think we should be written off just yet. We will win more games than we lose this season and I believe in lamberts ability as a manager. We have a good shape as a team and today, while lacking any creative ability, we didn''t look like being broken down. Walsall were obviously up for the game and seemed pretty well organised, this all contributed to what was possibly the worst 90 minutes of football I''ve seen from a Norwich side in a good long while. I''m counting the Col U game too! At least that had some excitement, albeit towards the wrong direction!Just remember, under the lambert regime we are YET to be beaten in the league. This bodes well for the future.
 2.
Strange how games can be viewed so differently!   A very mediocre performance from city who remained the better team  throughout the match against a poor Brentford side.  Encouraging signs of better organisation means we look more secure at the back,  with the back 9 (in a 4-5-1? 4-3-3 formation) restricting space from the middle for Brentford and giving the back 4 and easy night. A night of few chances were a draw (always possible tbh) would have been tough on the canaries and the right team won.  Centre backs,  Brentford played to their strengths yet while solid the back line was never coordinated and at one stage in teh first half the sahpe was so wrong the bench had to shout across the pitch to get BA and Nelson in the right position - and that was from a thrown in in their half.  We desperately need central defenders and its seems people are far too easily pleased - these two do not solve the problems at the back if we want to get promoted.
I agree in that I''m worried about our centre backs. I think Askou has done well thus far, but he is prone to drifting off and making silly mistakes. However, we have kept two clean sheets on the spin albeit against reasonably poor sides. I still think Nelson is a bit shocking. Yeah he heads everything that comes his way and hoofs the ball about. Yeah he scored an acrobatic volley the other day, which you will NEVER see him do again! But in my opinion he is far too slow and against any opposing striker with pace (there are a couple in League One i think!) he will be badly exposed. Put him next to a centre back with a bit more quickness about him and he should be fine. Still can''t forgive him and Doc over the Colchester debacle though. All I see when Nelson plays is a lumbering fool with a pained expression on his face getting turned by Lisbie time after time!!!
 3.
Hs to be Hughes and Rusty in the centre Saturday.
As much as I''m inclined to agree with that, due to our midfield being one of the worst I''ve seen in years (that includes Fotheringham!) we can''t have a player who has no regard for the club and clearly does not want to play at this level starting week in week out. Gill is rubbish. I''m sorry to say it, as I''m sure he wanted to prove a point when he came here, but we can''t afford to have someone in the midfield who passes sideways and out of play constantly and barely gets a foot on the ball! Rusty would definitely get in there, but he has been flamed on this board time and time again and I should think he''s off. Did Lambert sell Hoolahan when he was at Livingston? I''d be interested to find out. I sometimes can''t help but think that Gunn wanted to keep him, yet our board being the money grabbing devils that they are see him as an asset to cash in on. Maybe that''s where they started having fallings out?? Lambert will HAVE to bring players in in my opinion, but we know how cash strapped NCFC are, any potential sales to fund his transfer kitty will have to be completed before we start seeing any movement. I can see us going down the loan route again......and we all know where that ends up.
 4.

Couldnt agree more jas his wages must be high which cock gave him a 4 year contract, the day i see him take the ball off the opposition I will convert to a Delia fan he has never been good enough imo we badly need cover although i think Lappin is good enough for that, I''ll give him a max of 5 games before he is out with injury
You think Drury is no good and Lappin is adequate cover, have I read that wrong. I''m amazed.
Ha ha! I agree. Lappin is shocking at left back, it''s the reason Roeder cast him out to train with the youth team. He just didn''t do well at all when asked to play there. Drury has been pretty good in pre season. I think he''s slowed down even more, but he is a more effective defender than Lappin will ever be. Remember, we''ve got Rhoys Wiggins to play there too and he still has age on his side. Haven''t seen a lot of him, but the reports are good. Still, it remains the position I''m most worried about because I fear it will be a hard season for Drury to remain sans injuries!!
 5. The new look Norwich board, management and team have done their utmost to remove the bitter taste that was in a lot of supporters mouths at the end of last season. Good pre season results, encouraging signings etc. Selling Wes would go a long way to putting that taste right back in there!! I have been saying this for a while on this board..... we really can''t afford to lose him!!
 6.
Oh dear Doherty, that was very poor defending. I don''t want him anywhere near the side, he''s a liabilty.
Leave the Doctor alone!!! You obviously didn''t go to the game, as you would have seen Wes Hoolahan try to dribble the ball out of defence as always and then lose it! Basically gifted the ball to N''zogbia, who is a Premier player, very quick, has a great left foot and he did Doc and Spillane. He made it look easy, but we''re not going to be up against players like N''zogbia in League One. Hoolahan was brilliant after that, so was Doc and we won the game!! Don''t complain people!!!
 7.
I see in the EDP yesterday that Askou has been impressing Gunn and Butterworth at Colney which is good to see. As someone who considers Gary Doherty as totally useless and a very poor defender I am not surprised to read Gunn being quoted to say "Gary Doherty was standing in amazement (watching Askou), clapping his hands, just through the distance and the technique." Yes Gary when the ball comes to you in the air that is what you are meant to do, not just head it into danger or straight upwards as is your forte. Perhaps Askou can coach him....
Doherty still has that propensity to let a ball bounce around in front of him before getting rid, and this is one of the main reasons he gets caught out. However, he is looking good for our League One campaign. He''ll head anything, hassle the forwards, has looked trim in pre season and, dare I say it, has a bit more pace about him! The most important thing though is that he gives his all for City and our players listen to him, hence he''s been made captain. I think he''ll do a good job, but I do expect to moan at him once or twice this season!

You won''t throw it in my face though, because I never make bold predictions on this board about where we''ll end up or what''ll happen. I don''t know if you even go to games to be honest......Still, gotta love your unwavering confidence in your psychic ability! [:O]

 10. Yeah, Hoolahan did lose the ball for our first goal, but the defenders also got done far too easily. As has been said, Wesley was absolutely fantastic today and at times it looked like Wigan did not know what to do with him. I said in a different thread a while back, I hope we don''t lose him in January. Sometimes I worry if us SIGNING Rhoys Wiggins, which was originally toted as a loan, was a makeweight in a potential Hoolahan deal. As Warnock is already a confirmed admirer. We were fantastic today and Semmy fully deserved his MOtM award. Always worried Wigan going forward, showed some spectacular skill and touches to beat players and got back well when needed. Let''s just hope he keeps this up and doesn''t start losing concentration. Playing in League One will have undoubtedly given some of these players, who know they''re better than that, massive confidence. I was also impressed with the way Spillane brought the ball out of defence, lookin confident with it too and picking a good pass most of the time. The Doc organised well and looks fit and ready to go. He''s gonna be handing out some "bad medicine" this season!I agree with what has been said about Holt. Wigan seemed to put two men on him, as I guess they saw him as a threat, and although my friends seemed to think he "lumbered about" I was saying that he drew the defenders attention and freed up space for Martin. He worked hard too, and tracked back well, along with taking his two goals very aptly. For me, Hughes was a bit of a let down. There is undoubted skill and potential, maybe he isn''t entirely fit. I saw some nice touches, but he''s a total bean pole and gets battered around easily. Guess I should have listened to the Scottish. However, I can see him being an important player in terms of his creativity.....but he could do with putting on a few pounds! All in all I was massively pleased to see a committed Norwich City team, who have great heart and will NOT let their heads drop as in previous seasons!I''m excited!!![<:o)]OTBC!!
 11. I hope Mr Gunny (ha ha) doesn''t go cold on Adomah. I think he could be a huge asset to us, and an utter fans favourite. As signing has, in seasons past, been based on You Tube videos, I emplore the management team at Norwich to watch the one I''ve linked below!!!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5NUqvwaaEcAs you can see from this he is one heck of a prospect. Oh, he''s the number 7 by the way....playing predominantly on the right[;)]
 12. I would like to see the Holt/Maric partnership up front as I believe they would link up well. Thing is, they might be inclined to go for one of our "smaller" strikers along with one big man. I''m thinking it will be a 4-4-2. We all know Hoolahan is at his best when linking up the play behind the front two, but we just don''t have the strength in midfield to do that. If we did do that, I think we''d be horribly exposed more often than not. I think the starting partnership will be TJ (as he seems to be our only "tough" tackling, more defensive midfielder) and one of Hughes or Gill to supply the craft and guile. Then Whaley on the right and Hoolahan on the left. Nelson should most certainly be at the back as he is a total man mountain and will possibly scare the life out of younger league one players. I do worry about the lack of pace in our defence, but we shall see how that pans out. I''m worried about our full back positions most, but from reports I''ve heard that Spillane has been good at RB. Not sure on Drury, the jury is out on him for me (see what I did there??) and Lappin should never be told that he has to fill in at LB because he is AWFUL in that position. I''m excited to see how Wiggins does though. I hope we can keep him injury free and that his game comes on leaps and bounds with us, could be a big player in the future!
 13.
, because I can''t recall a side at this level having so many senior first team squad players, which must be cumulatively on a pretty large wage for this division.(not a problem I thought I''d be discussing a week and a half and seven signings ago!) If it doesn''t happen in the next week or so, after the first few games when it becomes apparant to everyone who is ''first choice'' and who isn''t I would expect a few to make way, Pattison,Cureton,Stefanovic - others?      Who goes? - you decide!
Ah man, I''m pretty sure that the top brass at Carrow Road would in no way employ a bunch of people that they couldn''t afford for this up and coming season. I realise that they''ve made mistakes, hence the reason we''re in the situation that we are now. However, rebate money, Marshall, Clingan and (possibly) Russell money will go a long way to help pay wages. Plus, if we do well, we have a big supporter base that they can capitalise on. More people coming to games, more shirts etc sold.....You get my drift! I''m sure our new board will not let us go into financial meltdown. We are a massive club comparitively in League One.
 14. Well, yes TFA, as I''m originally from Snettisham which is where the gold torcs of Iceni origin were found and they had settlements all over Norfolk. However, nobody was talking about you being white...or pink...yet you responded to my message saying "Please don''t call me white". Ummm....I didn''t.Just seems like you''re trying to elicit some kind of response, which I guess is what has happened. Shame on me.Thing is, I was merely referring to "city til I die''s" post regarding Adomah. As he got himself in a bit of a twist. You''re also the poster that called me "ignorant" in a different thread...so you can see why I''d be slightly off with you. However, I believe all people are entitled to their opinion, which I think is where you and I differ. [:)]
 15.

Oh, I also get pretty darn annoyed when people say Norfolk is a backward place. It isn''t at all. Those people who think we''re some isolated backwater, with a penchant for incest, have obviously never been privy to our vibrant art scene. Nor have they bothered to investigate the strong independent/diy music scene which is full of forward thinking people. True, there are utter racists about and people who think you need a passport to leave our fine county, but this isn''t representative of the majority. Remember, we have a very well respected university too......And, we''ve got the second highest number of people with high speed broadband connections in the country, along with the highest number of atheists!!How''s that for forward thinking??!!
I am genuinely not trying to be rude, but was this meant to be funny?
I don''t think you''re being rude, and this was not meant to be funny. It''s true dude!! If you live in Norfolk, you just need to open your eyes. Guess it depends on what you like. I''d sooner live around these parts than one of the bigger, more "cosmopolitan" cities. More people, more idiots.

 17.

I think you will find in the modern world the term ''coloured'' really is no longer acceptable. And it really defies belief that you are questioning that you should use it?!? I''m all against a stupid PC culture, but there are some things that you just don''t do - and I would say that term can easily be construed as racist, whether it was meant that way or not. God, Norfolk really is such a backward place.
only if people so stuck up thier own ar$e construde it as racist...all normal people dont!!! get a grip So should i have said the Black lad from barnsley???
No. You should have said the black lad from BARNET. As that is where Albert Adomah, who you''re thinking of, is from.Yeah, the term "coloured" is pretty old fashioned. Most of my friends who happen to have different pigmentation to their skin prefer "black". You can''t say "half cast" either. Has to be "mixed race"....or ethnically diverse [;)]
 18. Coach and Horses on Thorpe/Rosary Road. Always have the football on and serve fairly decent grub. Get there early though, because it gets packed. Go anywhere apart from riverside for christs sake man/lady!! (Or lady man) [;)]
 19. Totally agree Norwich, this guy snubbed us in favour of a position of sitting on the bench at Sheff Utd!! One of the worst receptions for a player that I''ve ever witnessed at Carrow Road and I don''t think he''s the kind of chap to want to prove the fans wrong. Arrogant folk usually have to eat some humble pie at one point or another
 20.
I think you may have provided the "glass half empty" brigade with more ammunition here however. 5 in 1 match and a load of penalties makes his goal total for the rest of the season less impressive!
These goals were in the Johnstones Paint Trophy. His total for the season was 28. 20 League goals and the rest in cup competitions. My glass is still half full, although I don''t think he''ll attain those numbers this season.
 21. I was brought up in the 80''s. In fact, I was born in 1980 so I can''t comment on what was happening as I was far too young to even care. However, how you, Shyster, can say that the tories didn''t encourage greed is beyond me. There is a famous quote from the haggard old spinster Maggie where she says, "There is no such thing as society. Just families and individuals" Which is saying, "look after you and yours and don''t give a crap about anyone else" basically. Selfishness and greed was rife.I know that they introduced opportunities for small businesses, as my dad prospered from this initiative, and my parents probably used to vote Tory. The rich will get richer no matter who is in power, so your half assed comments about Tory encouraging people to get off their "lazy anuses" is wide of the mark. Also, people who appear on the Jeremy Kyle show probably don''t vote as I''m sure their understanding of politics is limited. If you''re willing to even appear on something like that you''ve got a screw loose. I may show your post to friends who CHOOSE to live in council houses. Not because they don''t work, not because they''re lazy and "dumb", not because they''re addicted to smack, but because they are looking for an easier way to get on the property ladder and haven''t got rich parents to help them out. There may be too many old Tory members out there as you say, for it not to make a difference. Well, they will all be dead soon so it will make a difference! Wonderful.
 22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7blO3Ii33AICopy and paste that link, there''s some highlights of him playing for Shrewsbury here.....Nice one!
 23. Typical response I''d expect from you guys. To be honest, whoever gets in won''t change anything. Politics has been stripped of any respect the general public held for it and we will still see the same two parties getting in to power. These guys are scapegoats essentially. It''s sad that this has happened, as I''m sure if younger people were interested or more well informed and actually voted we would see changes.Sorry to upset you blue blooded chaps anyhow. Let''s get back to football.
 24.
TOTAL CAREER STARTS: 231 TOTAL CAREER SUB: 44 TOTAL CAREER GOALS: 99 Come on then, lets have you pick apart that record! Also... sets him up nicely for his 100th career goal being his first goal for Norwich!
Let''s hope he doesn''t stumble trying to get to that 100th goal!! Remember Cureton?? Has he actually got to that landmark yet (can''t remember how many...was it 200??)
