1.
Could be the sign for Drury to leave, I wouldn''t miss him to be honest.
The thing with Drury is that i don''t think he would fit into our new team. The days of hoofing appear to thankfully be over as we are playing a neat pass and move game. Whilst Adam is competent defensively he is imo one of the worst hoofers we have had at NCFC in recent years. He would not fit into Roeders team.
He could still join us on loan after monday then sign permanently in January.
Has anyone considered the possibility that the "stumbling block" may be that we actually want him on loan to see if he can do the business before going after a permanent deal in January. Of course, that approach also contains risks.

    Your not serious are you?

Iversen will do the business in the Championship and if a club in our league tried to take him on loan to see if he could do the business, i think he would be very insulted and tell the club where to go.

With respect, you have not thought through your reply very well. There are always three sides to an acquisition, the two clubs and the player. The players objective is to ensure he gets the best pay he can for as long as he can. In this case the player may well want to come back to England but Norwich may not be his first choice or best payer. If, on the other hand, he is confident he can showcase his prowess for a few months and then see what is on offer in January this may well suit him. His current club may have less interest in this because they would be more interested in cash now, and also probably would not want to run the risk of injury if they intend to move him in January anyway.

Norwich, on the other hand, would not be the first or the last club to risk putting out a fairly significant sum on a transfer only to find the player does not fit into the style or culture of our team. If you scratch your head, you will probably be able to recall many situations where this has been the case (Shevchenko was a classic example ). Personally, from what I remember of watching him play a few times, I hope we sign him. I was simply postulating another view as to why things may have not gone smoothly to date.
Yes, i see your point, but Iversen has played in England for Spurs and Wolves so he knows the culture, game and language. He is not a "Dave Striker" type of foreign signing who  was much more of a gamble.

Iversen and Norwich will have a pretty good idea of what they will be getting.

  4.
Funny how Earnie was a money grabbing git but Iversen is slated for doing his best for his current team.

    Roll on November.
Could we sign him now and then they let him come to us when their season ends?

Although if they are still in the uefa cup they might need him throughout the winter.

  5. Rosenborg will not sell Iversen in this transfer window now following their victory tonight, we will have to wait untill Jan to sign him as Roeder i beleive will hang on and wait for him.

Without a target man we will have a mediocre or poor season, so in effect our season is now over in terms of having any hope of making the play offs.

All  we have to look forward to now is mid table mediocrity or worse.

Boy and am i glad i am not a season ticket holder this year.

  6.
Yes, Roeder has made a few useful signings so far but, let''s face, it nobody really exciting. But, I can''t help feeling that Roeder will clinch a top signing before the season starts and I''m thinking that man will be Ameobi. And if he adds Martin Taylor too then, wow, what a team we will have.
Dream on! What planet are you on?

  7.
All this talk about needing a"big target man" is like being stuck in a football time warp 20 years ago.First of all it suggests a long ball game, nothing wrong with that but its easier to create chances if you can pass well.I prefere a second striker who plays between the lines. He does not have to be big , but  have a high level of awareness and creativity.A role I think is ideally suited to Hoolahan.Plus you want players like him  close to the oppenents goal.A big striker is handy if we are chasing a game but in the team full time it will encourage our full backs to lump it forward even more often.
This is balls.

What some people don''t seem to realise is that when they here the word target man they automatically think of a big, immobile lump who has little skill and pace and who can only out muscle defenders and win headers. These people conjure up images of Iwan Roberts, Steve Howard, Dele Adebola, Mamidy Sadibe etc.

We don''t want one of those types of players.

What Roeder wants is a forward who can win balls in the air, put pressure on the centre backs and be a threat from set pieces. This player can have skill as well and play football on the ground and that is why Roeder is chasing Iversen.

Just because you play with a striker who has a bit of a prescence doesn''t mean that you are going to play hoof ball (which is what you are fearing) it just means that you have added an extra dimension to your play. Every team in English football needs this type of player or else you are too one dimensional and by that i mean that all you play is pretty, passing football which isn''t always enough.

Get over your irrational fears about hoof ball, as i guarantee you even when we do sign our big striker we will still play the majority of our football  on the deck.

Am sure I read a link of NCFC with him fairly recently - but it also said that he was injured (something he has a bit of a reputation for being).  IMO it is not necessarily a great amount of height that we need, it is that physical presence that Curo and Lupoli don''t give us; the new guy doesn''t need to be a giant but has to be good in the air to get onto clearances (Marshall cannot always roll the ball out) and hold play up - it seems that aerial prowess is one of Helgusson''s strong points, so perhaps he might fit the bill.
Exactly, we don''t have to get in a Iwan/Steve Howard type just a tallish player who is strong in the air and can give centre backs plenty to think about.

That is why Iversen would be perfect. He can also play with the ball at his feet and is still pretty mobile from what i have seen of him on clips this season off the Rosey site.

Helguson is very good as well but he is very injury prone so i would steer clear. In fact i think he is crocked at the moment and has been for some time.

  9.
Generally considered as our best player today creative and willing to have a shot not to mention a brillant clearence off the line.  Now this that mean some of the Pattison hatters on this board will give him some credit.  Anyway let me say well done Pattison cos he played well today.

In other news JC will have to settle for a few weeks out the side because Lupoli has shown Jamie how to score.  This isn''t a knee jerk reaction because JC has been missing changes for a long time and missing from 12 yards is unacceptable.  Now I am a fan of Jamie''s and hope he can get his form back but right now Lupoli with the new target man is the better option.

Well personally i have always thought that Patty is a decent player, he just needed to sort his passing out. He is physical, gets stuck in and can tackle and does try to use the ball intelligently. I think that maybe his confidence has been low before and that he has  now got it back.

  10.
One thing I''m struggling to understand is that if Rosenborg promised Iversen he could go if an English club came in for him why hasn''t he demanded they let him go as most players seem to do nowadays. Surely they would have to let him go if he let it be known that he didn''t want to play for them anymore, it''s happened to us on many occasions in the past.
He may well do that in the next couple of weeks, although he is Rosenborg through and through i think and he was born in Trondheim and i think his father was a Rosenborg legend.

However, Iversen knows that if he doesn''t take up our offer now it may be his last opportunity to play for a half decent English club as he will be 32 soon. So heres hoping he starts to kick  up a fuss!

  11.
If Norwich City FC crash and burn like last year, eight points by mid October, who believes that Peter Cullum will return and buy Delia out?.
Yes, i beleive that Cullum will pop up again he is just waiting in the wings for the heat to be turned up on the board then he will come out saying he wants to buy the club in the EDP.

  12.
I am getting ed off with people telling me to forget about Huckerby I will never forget about him as I have never forgot about Dale Gordon ,my two favorite all time Norwich players.Anyone who knows anything about football knows it was a big mistake letting him go and we are never going to get anyone better.
Get over it you weiner! I am sick to death of people banging on about Huckerby and San Jose. The guy is gone.

  13.
the boys and the crowd needed 3 points today roedy, and blackpool were there for rolling over after a spirited defence of sorts...in my opinion you got the team selection wrong.,/

i was disappointed that russell didn''t start in the middle alongside clinkers???  i know fozzy is the captain, but clearly we should be picking our best side...and for me, rusty and clinkers look to be our best centre mid players at the mo><? i can''t see how fozzy and clinkers  are a natural pairing, in the same way lamps and gerard can''t do it for england/..

also, matty patty - considering he''s a left footed centre mid player, he did ok on the right wing, but unless croft was unfit, he should have started on the right imo - sure, crofty lacks end product, but as a natural right winger, he would''ve given better balance to the side tha matty did...
Where is Luke  Chadwick? He isn''t injured as far  as i am aware so why is he not being picked?

  14. Well where i was sitting in the Jarrold stand on the half way line i had to at times put my fingers in my ears such was the general whining and whingeing.

I do get the impression that alot of people are just looking for the slightest excuse to have a moan. It reminds me of latter era of Worthingtons reign when i have to admit i was one of those looking to have a moan. I am not one of those at the moment though.

Getting rid of Hucks, what a great idea that was, we look so much tighter at the back and more potent than ever up front...

Anyone who can suggest we kept Croft and let Hucks go for footballing reasons needs their head examined.

Roeder has made the same mistake McLaren made when he got rid of Beckham. The trouble is we will never be able to recall Hucks...

    A long season ahead beckons...
he made the right decision getting rid of hucks.. because, im afraid to say, hucks was old and past it.... Wes Hoolahan is young and spritely..

    jas :)
Got to say i kind of agree with you. He was''nt totally passed it but he wasn''t getting any better. For too long we have been a one trick pony team and i am personally glad Roeder let him go.

I  bet we will win on Saturday and this board will suddenly be all sweetness and roses.

    Pathetic, fickle fans.

  17.
I dont want Iversen at all. In his prime at Tottenham Hotspur he scored 36 goals in 143 games... hardly signs of a prolific striker is it.
Ok, very well, but who would you suggest then? Ameobi? it isn''t and never was going  to happen.

Rasiak? Well he would be my second choice but i think Iversen will offer more all round and will score just as many goals.

  18.
You''re not suggesting you want Chris Brown back, are you! Plz no! we need someone for the ugly goals, the 50-50 headers and the cheeky tap ins. Iverson is perfect for that, and maybe in the Championship Ameobi is too. Rasiak is my fave out of the bunch though, as i think he''d add that little bit more creativity too. My m8 liked him at Bolton last year, and even if that is only 1 person''s opinion, it''s still more of a vote of confidence than some of our players in the past (Thorne...) have got. I''d be happy with him if we were in the lower prem, as he has premiership qualities to his game.
Well i''ve heard from Spurs fans that Rasiak is great in the air but clumsy with the ball at his feet. He would be great if we want to play total kick and rush footy.

  19.
Bottom line is Iversen is not the guy to get us into the playoffs. He is not a 20 goal a season player and for me I have much more faith in Roeder so don''t expect him to waste time and money on Iversen! Resiak on the other hand would be welcome....
Well, i would''nt be so sure about that, apparently Iversen has  recently been in the form of his life and his goal scoring record at Rosenborg is pretty damn impressive.

  20.
So, ideally, we''re looking for a new Super Matty Svensson? I seem to remember he was quite handy in the air but also added the passing games being played. He wasnt the biggest but made an effort to get up for headers and won a fair few. Just need to find someone that fits this persona, the sort of player that can handle people like Elliot Ward and stick a few headers away of a season...
Actually Svensson was not that good in the air. Sure when a cross was put into the box he could thump a decent header into the back of the net  but when the ball was kicked out from goal kicks etc he hardly ever got his head on the ball, a leaping salmon springs to mind, but still thought he was a very clever player.
