I think the most inportant thing for Saturday is that we don''t lose.

On paper Saturday is by our best chance for two wins on the spin but knowing dear old Norwich there''s every chance we''ll blow it. I thought before the Cardiff game that if we had to take one win out of the Cardiff and Plymouth games then beating Plymouth would be best. Lets hope we can get at least a point at the weekend.

Of course what''ll probably happen is we''ll beat Birmingham and Reading but lose against Plymouth and Charlton.

Supporting City is never an easy option.....
No, you are very wrong.

    We have to beat Plymouth.

i after the blackpool game again thought that was it....but what a difference a game makes...gotta love football...4 home game  4 wins + ipshit away  15 points that would be plenty...come on city...MASSIVE MASSIVE GAME saturday...when the nerves will be in shreds yet again...OTBC
As I predicted last Saturday evening. 6 poits this week and it could all look so different.

It''s still a steep hill to climb but nowhere near as steep as it looked a few short hours ago.
Last nights result will count for nothing unless we beat Plymouth. Just like beating QPR didnt count for me when we didnt beat Blackpool.

I still think we will be relegated. I do fear another scenario like we had when we were at the end of our Premiership season, in that right at the end of the season we discover a winning formula and go on a run but it is too little too late.

If we do beat Plymouth it is going to be very interesting though, especially if the other teams in the mix dont get good results. Then half the battle is going to become psychogical, and will be a case of who has the most balls will stay up.

    Bring it on!

  3.

yep saw him, but be very careful in what you say because i think he is part of a group of about 10-15 who sit in the snakepit every week, wearing all the stone island gear!!
haha and stone island make you dangerous?!?  Most of the people I see wearing stone island are blokes that are past their time or little chavs that walk around in groups of about 25 starting on fights with 5 other lads...

    personally that is cowardly!
Yes, but why is it they cant let that lifestyle go? I know many of them have wifes and kids etc but they still like to have a ruck. Must be addictive, like a drug.

  4.
For a short term measure, Gunny might be the man.  I''m not sure we should build our long-term future around him though.

Personally I hope he keeps us up and walks away on a high.
I completely agree with you.

I hope he keeps us up and then walks away from the managers job at the end of the season with his legend status gone into overload.

Then i would like to see us go after Tilson at Southend who i am certain would take the job if offered providing salary, conditions etc were satisfactory.

Trouble is you just know our board would keep Gunny on as it is the easy, cheap and cosy way.

Plus to get Tilson we would have to be a bit nasty as their chairman would not want to let him go, and this board doesn''t do nasty.

  5.
Disagree just get amanager at league 1/championship level who has got a track record of getting sides promoted. Look at the Doncasetr guy, and what about Steve Tilson at Southend, always does well on  a shoestring
He would be a good choice and has come out publicly after Worthington and then Grant were sacked stating his interest in the post but for some reason our dim wit board have not followed up his interest.

  6.
But now we are down to the real nitty gritty. Perhaps Gunny, Crook and all are not the best of a management team but they are still far better than the squad of players they have inherited. And there lies the biggest problem. If they leave at the end of the season who the hell will want to take on our batch of misfits and under-achieving, overpaid  players? How many players have we got who are really good enough to wear the yellow and green?
If we are relegated, i bet you Steve Tilson would jump at the chance to come and manage us.

  7.
Well said. The current managerial team should be given next season at least to see what they are capable of. If it doesn''t go very well next season, then it might be time for a change, yet again. Hopefully they won''t have taken us to the brink of League Two by May next year!
Dont be so stupid.

  8.
I make no presumptions that we are down until it is mathematically so, however, my head tells me that this is now likely.

What is crucially important however, is that, Bryan Gunn, and his fellow former teammates, are given an extended run at trying to rebuild a team - whether that be in the championship or league 1.  By extended run I mean...(snare roll)   A FULL SEASON!  Now, it wasn''t so long ago that ''an extended run'' would qualify as several seasons, however, in this era of quick fix success (which is fundamentally b*ll**cks) this has shortened somewhat.

If you are thinking of protesting, by all means do so - you pay your money, do what you like.   On two provisos:

    1) Wait until the end of the season.  Protesting / booing / negativity will very simply be counter-productive.  It really doesn''t take a rocket scientist to work it out.

    2) Omit the ''Dream Team'' (Gunn, Butters, Crook) from the flames of your wrath.  It certainly isn''t their fault and they deserve our support 100% for next season.

P.S - I''m not overlooking the fact we really do suck at the moment.
Rubbish!

I have nothing what so ever to suggest that this current managerial team will ever be any good.

If we are to get out of league 1 quickly (assuming that we go down) we cannot afford to p+ss about with amateur managers, if you hadnt noticed that is the reason we are in this mess.

No, if we go down Gunn and co should be let go and we should go all out of someone with some pedigree such as Tilson who knows League 1 very well. He was saying come and get me after we sacked Worthy and Grant but our stupid board didnt bother to get him

  9.
Aye. I''ll likey be the only one in the Jarrold actually trying to make any semblance of noise, but so be it!
Yes, the Jarrold Stand. I often sit there after giving up my season ticket in the Upper Barclay.

Great view of both halves of the game in there, but the absolutely zero atmosphere. No passion what so ever. Alot of our : nice day out at the football: brigade sit there in my opinion.

I would take the Barclay any day or even the Snake Pit although the view is not great there is plenty of passion in there.

Just been thinking. If as seems likely we get relegated it might be a good idea to recruit Age Hariade as the manager for next season.

Forget about Gunn and Crook etc, they are all either amateurs or never has beens with regards to management. Take off the green and yellow specatacles and realise that the one thing we need to do for next season above all is recruit a manager with some pedigree.

Now Hariade has expressed his interest in the post. We are very likely going to have to rebuild our squad yet again. I know sod all about League one football but i would guess that there isnt as much pretty football played in this league and that you have to be a bit Watford, Sheffield Utd, or Norwich City under Worthington to be successful in this league.

Why not get Hariade in? He does have pedigree of winning things from the Scandinavian leagues and i bet he has intensive contacts in the area so he could recruit some good scandinavian players for us. Now Scandinavian players are not known for their technical abilities but they almost always are hardworking, honest, no thrills team players who give their all. They would probably have the grit and determination to do well in League 1.

After watching players who dont really seem to give a toss for so long now i would give anything to see a Matt Svensson, Tommy H, or most of all a totally committed Mattias Jonson playing in the green and yellow again.

What do you reckon Age Hariade worth a shot for our next manager if we go down?
People who think the grass is greener get on my nerves!

How much do you know about Hareide apart from the fact he used to play for us and is a manager?

Do you really think he''d of done better in our current predicament? - more than likely not!

Matthais Jonnson was mostly not very good for us!
Ok, lets stick with Gunn then shall we?

Thinking that the grass is greener is the only way for me to remain any optimism.

Would you stick with what we have then ie Gunn etc?

  11.
The underlying point though is that Age voiced an interest in joining a Championship club.

Not sure he would move over for a League 1 team, unless we have a newly committed board and some cash to finance his restructuring.

Not to mention the fact that changes like you are talking about will take longer than a season to come to fruition - can we wait?
Why will they take longer than a season to come to fruition?

We go down, we wave goodbye to Gunn and co.

Players are sold and the loans go back so the result is we have hardly any players and need to bring new ones in.

Why would all of this take over a season to do? It could be done over the summer.

  12.
I think Johnson should have been kept- I think he was just getting settled and would have done wonders in the championship. The day we sold him- and he did not want to leave- was the day I started doubting the clubs decision making. Who replaced him - that will be Jason Jarrett!!!

    As to Hariade

    1) why would he be remotely interested in taking this dross side with no investment?

    2) what would we pay him with?

    3) what would happen to Crook et al who only just got here

    4) all the work wthic in the world could not cover the lack of quality in the team. THat is the real problem- name me players in our squad who would make the first 11 in other teams?
Well forgive me if i am wrong, but are all of them not just contracted till the end of the season?

If that is the case then we just say thank you and goodbye.

If that is not the case then the board have made another balls up with their growing list of managerial appointments.

  13. You are so wrong. To compare him to Robinson just shows that you paid little attention to his game and just casually labelled him crap because he didnt skin people like Hux does.

As Purple Canary states Worthy nearly always played him as a right winger which he isn''t.

If you watched Jonsons game you would have noticed that he was very strong in the air, had good vision, passing and crossing abilities, that he could tackle well ( i believe we played him at right back and he did well there) and that he was a very committed and hardworking player.

To compare him to Carl Robinson is a bit of a slur.

  15. My take on the appointment of Gunn is that Delia and Mike are off at the end of the season regardless of what happens.

The did not fancy dipping into their own pockets yet again to finance bringing in new manager in as they are off at the end of the season anyway and i think they couldn,t really give a damn anymore and just want out so they went for the ultra cheap option of Gunn etc and the new owners can come in and pick up the pieces to finance a new management team.

  16.     Personally i think that if a football team is the number 1 love in your life, or if it is the most important thing in your life then your life is probably lacking in other areas.I know because i have been there. At times when other aspects of life are unfulfilling or you have problems NCFC  because a more consuming passion. That is not to say that i don''t care about NCFC now because i do but it is PART of my life not my life.Anyone who spends alot of their spare time on the internet probably doesn''t have much of a live. The other thing i would like to comment on is posters on here and WOTB who go on about people just sitting and watching the football, not voicing dissent etc and protesting. It is because for most people there is life outside of football, they couldn''t be bothered to protest outside the ground against Worthington because they would rather go down the pub. That is the truth i am afraid. Most fans are like me in that they enjoy going to the football and follow NCFC with interest, but when it comes down to it, its just a game. I would still go to games if we got relegated because its still my team.

  17. Anyone know if he is injured?

I still think he will end up here in November, i am just hoping that some kind of pre loan arrangement has already been struck as Iversen might not fancy coming here if we are second bottom or worse.

With Siberski firing blanks and not impressing many the target man issue needs resolving and the last thing we need is another prem kid coming on loan for 3 months.

  18.
It''s just as likely the man has got it wrong, I don''t think anyone really knows whether or not they have spoken. I''d be disappointed if the either Cullum or the club didn''t make contact and get around the table to try and sort something out. Most clubs would give anything to have an owner who is a fan with the kind of wealth Cullum has, we should be doing all we can to get him involved. We will not get anyone any better than him, end of story.
Sadly i don''t think Delia and Mike want to sell up. They want some new investors to replace the Turners they don''t want to give up control of the club which they would have to do if Cullum took over and thats why they won''t talk to him.

Delia and Michael are a childless couple i believe and that probably explains why they want to keep hold of their "baby". If they had children they would probably sell up and they would have other things like grand children to occupy their time.

  19.
Iverson is on fire, if only we could have captured him when Roeder first sniffed him out, I fear he may be alerting too many other managers now.
Yep, i agree.

Not a word has been mentioned about Iversen since the window closed, not by the papers or by people on message boards.

I hope we can sign him in January, as like you say he is on fire at the moment. If he keeps banging them in someone like Hull or Stoke might take a punt on him in January.

I just hope we haven''t missed the boat.
