1.
Should Bryan Gunn be given the manager''s job full-time? Discuss.
No, absolutely no way.Regardless of what league we are playing in next season a new management team needs to be brought in to move the club forward.I like Bryan Gunn but he is not (at the moment) the man to manage this club.
 2. Just read up a bit on this Jim Gannon.Sounds decent. Worth a look definately.
 3.
I would like to see Robins as I assume he could work with the likes of Crook and Butterworth, who should stay. Gannon is a good shout though, very underrated and I can''t understand why he hasn''t had an offer from a ''bigger'' club.
Robins????Forgive me for being uneducated but what has he actually done?I am suspicious of people who champion former players for our manager as i suspect they may be wearing green and yellow tinted spectacles. You appear to be doing so.
 4.
Lee Evans, go with the list of comedians we have had as managers recently.
Lol! I like it.
 5. Assuming we are relegated then next season we are going to need a new manager who preferably has managed in League 1 before and has some track record of success.Tilson and Newell  both fit that category and we would probably be an more attractive proposition to them than their current clubs.I don''t think that the likes of Boothroyd (not sure i would want him anyway) would want to manage us in League 1 so that means we are going to have so search the lower 2 divisions for our next manager.Apart from the 2 i have managed does anyone else have any realistic candidates for the post as Norwich manager?
 6. I think that we should  look at what has happened  to Magilton at Ipswich and learn from it.He is a legend at Ipswich as is Gunny here and look what happend to him after they went down the cheap, totally inexperienced,  " but he knows the club and its history and what makes it tick" route.Step aside please Bryan if we get relegated and take your coaching team with you.
 7.
I think Bryan Gunn should get the job next season!!
If we do give the job to Gunn it should only be for a season. Review it at the end of next season when we will have had a whole season to assess his ability.
 8.
I don''t believe that they are an inexperienced crew
Well, in terms of English football  management at this level they pretty much are.
 9. We need continuity and a period of stability for sure but is Gunn the right man?I am not convinced. Nobody knows if Gunn is going to turn out to be a good manager or a poor manager. I am also concerned that if he is retained that in many fans eyes he can do no wrong and that supporters will not be able to judge him objectively as they will always view him with rose tinted,  nostalgic spectacles. If  he does crap people will tolerate this because it is "Gunny" and the club will sink further. My fear is that he may turn out to be a poor manager and that he  will remain in his post for far, far too long before he is eventually reluctantly removed by our hapless board by this time though we could be fighting to stay in league 1.Given that we definately do need a period of stability with our management team would it not be much more sensible and less of gamble to go for a more experienced manager who  has some track record of success rather than adopting a "suck it and see" approach with Bryan Gunn and his inexperienced crew who may turn out to be no good and need removing thus ending the period of stability ?
 10. I  shouted "f**k off Delia!" and gazed around in disbelief at our fans who were cheering her.
 11.

Looks can be deceptive, I can assure you they were thugs, long hair or not, and quite capable of causing much damage to property or people.
Can you clear something up for me please? When ever i see these "casuals"/ "hooligans" whatever you want to call them they are for the most part guys in their late thirties upwards with many being in their forties. Back in the 70''s and 80''s were the people that fought at football mainly young men? If so how old? Are these 40 something guys you see doing  it now just the ones who were into it when they were in their 20''s? Was it a young mans game fighting at the footy back in the day? So basically fighting at the football is a hobby to them and they can''t let it go.
It''s still the same people causing the trouble today as it was then.  Just occasionally they ring in other younger people, as recently demonstrated by our own father and son team running riot in Leicester.  The "yoof" today have too many other pleasures to waste time on the plans necessary for a scrimmage at the ground (or are too busy writing on line to worry about going outside and having a go).  Generally nowadays everyone has learnt that you can''t fight within half a mile of a footy ground and hope to get away with it anyway.  My recent experience living in a two club city is that most young supporters don''t get over worked up about the other club, but the 40 somethings, once they''ve had a few still look back to those fighting days with nostaglia and let it rip regularly given the chance.
12.
I am ashamed to say, that in my youth I was one of those hooligans, although in most part of it we never went looking for it, but it always happened.  The only thing that many of us did do was defend the Barclay End from being taken over by whoever was visiting. That was the sort of the pinnacle to take over the clubs kop end type. I have photos from that game taken by the press at the back of the barclay, a right  old scrap was going on and sadly I was in the middle of it.  The lad who fell through the roof, wasn''t from Manure, he lived in Dereham but shouted his mouth that he was a Utd supporter. I can assure anyone who have doubts about the hardness of this lot, they were some of the worst to come to City, People used to go shopping in the city centre early so as to miss the manchester Utd hooligans running riot.Spurs weren''t that far away neither, Portsmouth fans, in our first promotion season under Ron Saunders, were in the City at 5.30am  just waiting to pick anyone off, I had to go into work early that Saturday to get time off for the match, and only just missed a right kicking. Why did we do it.. after all these years I still don''t have an answer, perhaps because someone else did, your mates did so you did. pathetic really and something I am ashamed of and would detest seeing anything like it come back
I bet though, at the time it was good fun!

You were''nt a hooligan like you are labelled now, you just joined in if it kicked off (which from what  i can gather it did alot).I was working on a site a few months back and this guy i was working with is in with the Norwich lot and he was  telling  me  the same thing that fighting was just part of the Saturday afternoon football experience for alot of young guys. He pointed out a couple of guys in  their mid forties (one of whom was an office  site worker quite high up) who were lovely chaps who you would think  would not say boo to a goose, he said " see him, he used to fight at the football back in the day".I have also  heard that a certain guy who used to be involved high up with the stewarding at Norwich games was also in the day a  Stein. Is it fair to say do you think that the young people who come on this site and get on their high horse about football violence should  first ask their Dad if he used to fight at the football, and that if these same people were young uns in the 70''s and 80''s that there is a good chance  they would be joining  in the fighting as well?

 15. Look at these  lot though! They don''t look very "hard" to me at all. Bunch of kids with silly long hair!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KShbjJ5_xws&feature=related
 16.
That was the bad old days of football I''m afraid, Their "fans" favourite trick in those days was to stampede en masse along the roads bowling over anyone in their path. It got to the point that we used to leave a quarter of hour before the end to avoid getting caught up with them. Look at these lot though! They don''t look very hard to me. All silly long hair.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KShbjJ5_xws&feature=related
17.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZ7juikRlUQCan anyone clarify this? Just wondered if the roof was asbestos as well?
Yes Duke, the Barclay had a corrugated asbestos roof as did most grounds at the time. I remember watching the wooden boards at the back of the Barclay being systematically smashed out and then the Man Utd clown started prancing about on the roof. Next thing he''s not looking so clever as he''d fallen through onto the concrete terracing and was being stretchered off around the edge of the pitch along what''s now the City Stand. The funniest part was when they were half way along a woman rang up to the stretcher and started clobbering him around the head with what looked like her handbag. The Man Utd fan was only semi-conscious after his unexpected close inspection with the terracing and was only saved from further damage by the City stewards who intervened and hauled her off him. Hilarious.....
I had always been led to believe that he was attacked by loads of Norwich fans after he fell through?I have to say looking at other clips from that game that the Man Utd fans don''t look very "hard" at all. The one who has fallen  through the stand looks a right p*ssy.Alot of them look like girls with their silly long hair, are these the people that made up the  firms of that era?I don''t think i would be intimidated or scared by them if they were around now yet Man Utd fans allegedly were the most infamous at the time for rioting in cities around the country.

 19.

I was there right behind it and one of the lads sits two seats from me.It all started as a bit of fun but then got really silly when the word silly pr*** was used and the lad took exception too it.As you say the punches were full on and i had to move me lad out of the way in case he got hurt,it went all the way down the stairs and was stopped by the police.Must say the two female stewards were absolutelly useless.Hope noone gets banned from the ground, really surprised at the lads reaction who sits nxt to me as he is a nice lad.
I wonder if they''ll get 7 months in nick for it? Yet again it seems ''nice lads'' can get in trouble when provoked.
Your refering again to the "Leceister 9" aren''t you Arthur? Are they really such nice lads though?Having had a encountered a few of these Norwich "casual" types in the past (although none of the 9) they seem like nice guys when they are sober but once they get a few drinks inside them they are just  looking for someone to say or look at them in the wrong way to give them a chance to "start". Not really such nice guys.
 20. I think regardless of whether we stay up or not Lee Croft will leave.I  have  not seen David Carney play, but am wondering what are your views on him as a player? What are his strong points and his weak points? Would you be happy if we signed him to replace Croft?
 21.
hmmm players returning to the club... Jamie Cureton and rusty anyone? former glories are not enough to warrant birning hucks back.. he''d be 2 years older and 2 years slower... he''s had his time as a Norwich player....lets just remmber the good old days instead of him becoming yesterdays man shall we? jas :)
Very true. I  tottally agree with you. In his last season with us he was noticeably slower. He still has a good football brain and can pick out a good pass and put a good cross in but he rarely skinned players  like he used to and 2 years on like you say he is going to be slower still. Two many supporters wear green and yellow spectacles though and are nostalgia freaks. That is why we get all these calls for Bowen and Crook as manager when ever there is a managerial vacancy. They think it is a great idea because there logical thought processes are blocked by emotions of nostalgia.Same thing with Hux.
 22.
Who will be in the bottom 3 at the end of the season. I think it will be Charlton, Southampton and Norwich/Forest/Plymouth. i think that if we win on sat it will be plymouth but if we draw or lose it will be us
Well Charlton are down for sure, but i do fear that we will still go down. Yes, we might now hit a bit of form but it may be too little too late. The Blackpool defeat is the result we will probably look at and regret not winning. There are apart from Charlton no really struggling teams around us, plus alot of the other teams have forwards who now seem to be hitting form. Plymouth have Gallagher, Watford have Priskin and the Don Cowie, Forest have Earnshaw and Barnsley have a goalscorer in the shape of Mifsud, whilst Soton have Saganowski who knows where the net is. I think it will be close but ultimately failure to take anything from the Blackpool game and only taking a point from the home games against Burnley and Coventry will cost us i fear.
 23. I am getting fed up reading posts on this board from people stating "who would want to manage us?" or "Gunn is the only option available as no one else would want to take on this shambles of a club" etc etc. This is absolute bollards! There are plenty of managers out there who would want to manager us Championship or League 1. Steve Tilson is one. Publicly stated his interest in the post (he pretty much said "come and get me" i beleive} after Worthington and then Grant were sacked but strangely he was over looked by our ambitious board on both occasions. Whether Gunn keeps us up or not i would like Tilson to be the manager of Norwich City Football Club next season. Anyone else in favour of Tilson?
 24.

I am one of those lads who sits at the bottom with him. The face covering ect. is just him, hes always done it always will do. top bloke. not a wannabe by any means.
norwich youth are getting a name which is good to see as we are far too known as a family club!! so it wasnt a dig at you boys... it just looked at little over the top.
Norwich Youth? Now, tell me, are you separate from the NHS? which as far as i am aware is/used to be made up of guys how are now in there mid to late thirties who used to frequent the Murderers. I think i may have seen you guys. Were you at Colchester away last season in that pub near the ground with a fat guy called Dale?
