1.
Not moaning, not disappointed, looking forward to great season ahead, and I trust PL''s judgement. But, how many of the signings so far are better than what we already have? So far they are additions to the squad, none you would automatically say will start the first game next season, not only do we need more bodies to increase the squad size, we need that extra bit of class, and not just one it needs to be two or three, Johnson rumoured, will he start? Yes these would be the type of player we could retain if you went down, but David McNally said we are staying there, not to be to be taken literally, yes we can do it.. PL in my eyes is King, but if he can buy players, that he can transform from either league one and championship to good premiership players, then I believe the next thing will be turning water into wine, or walking on water.
I agree with you. There are question marks over all of our players imo with the exception of Vaughan who has played in the Prem. Lets just hope that alot of our squad including the new additions can make the step up. If they can''t then we are in trouble.
 2. Hmmm, I would much rather we signed players permanently. Not keen on the idea of loan players in general.
 3.
Maybe we are looking further a field then England? Is it right that England transfers start from the last game of the season but the international transfer window doesn''t open until the 1st July?
It would sound right given Lamberts comments yesterday about the over inflated price of players (British players). Lambert has always said that he will try to buy British whenever possible, but maybe he has been forced to look abroad?
 4.
Like its really worked for us in the past! Strihavka The Dutch RB Colon a few years back. Julian Brelier Tomas Helveg Mahiaes Jonnson Jean De Blassis Cedric Anselin Fernando Derveld Raymond Devard That Spaniard RB who Roedernowhere signed and played for 2 games! That Yugoslav striker who name escapes me who was our record signing in 1981 and was poor - Oh Drazien Muzinic - it just came to me! So its got to be a big NO! We went down that route last time in the Premiership and it didn''t work. I''m afraid we have to bite the bullet and splash the cash on good England based players if we are to survive!
Thomas Helveg was class. It was Worthingtons fault he did not play more than he did or get more out of him. The rest I would agree with. All down to the scouting and the manager though. If you get the right ones foreign players can do well.
 5. Lambert is complaining about the distorted transfee fees being quoted. This is down to the fact that he wants to buy British players. I think it has always been the case that British players cost more. Perhaps he should try signing a foreign player or two? He could possibly get an equivalent foreign player for a third less that he could a British one? Obviously signing a foreign player carries an element of risk, but I feel signing a player from a league outside of the Prem carries an element of risk in "can that player make the step up?"Scandinavian players are the safest bet when it comes to signing foreigners. He should get on the phone to Henrik Larsen for some info on the best Swedish players. Rasmus Elm is decent.
 6. Both of the players are available on a free. Both are young. Both I understand are combative midfielders. Gunnarrsson has an awesome long throw.Who would you go for?
 7. I far as I am aware Graham had one good season last year. Prior to this I had never heard of him. He is 25/26.I don''t understand why some people are getting so bothered why we have''nt tried to sign him.
 8.
I don''t know if it''s the language thing but I seem to remember Lambert saying last year that he only really wanted to sign British players because they understand the way British teams play football better. Although he went on to say that he''d consider Scandinavian players too because they play in a similar style to British players. Personally I think that national traits are absolute b*ll*cks but there might be something in the different ways different countries teach/learn football. We tend to play it on muddy pitches on rainy days so skill is hard but slide tackling is easy, Brazil more likely to play it on hard ground that is conducive to skill etc. Of course those are generalisations too, there''s even more rain in Ireland and it produced Wessi! I think the English speaking thing is more down to £££, in the lower leagues there are very few players who aren''t British/Irish/lived in Britain for a long time as there isn''t the money for international scouting.
I would''nt say that there are no national traits when it comes to footballers. I lived in Sweden for a while and the attitude there is that it is the team that matters it is not about individuals. Not having this mentality is a big no no and will not make you popular. This attitude applies not just to football but in all aspects of normal working life in general, Managers mix with the workers there is no divide or class thing going on. In the Scandinavian countries there is great emphasis put on hard work and discipline in football. These are qualities that  make them popular often with British managers (Worthington was a self confessed fan of Nordic players. I would say that  in countries such as Spain there is a much greater emphasis put on skill and technical ability.
 9.
I think in today''s Pinkun it said £1.5m which is probably more like it. I keep forgetting about Wilbraham! I only really see us using Holt, Jackson and Vaughan so far next season. I like Oli and Martin still has potential but I think they were on the fringes even last year. Wilbraham, Oli and Martin to go and another striker to come in to act as cover/pressure on Mr Holt
We are gonna let Wilbraham go. Do you really think we are going to have a player in the 25 man squad who is not even Championship standard?
 10.
Right, so clearly we are all bored, with no real rumours to go on. Thus I feel its time for an alternative look at which players to sign. Last year we clearly had a policy of "look at their surname, do we already have one? If so sign them". This year we seem to be looking at initials: We already have: CM - Chris Martin. CMD - Cody MacDonald And are looking at: CMS - Craig Mackail-Smith. So I would suggest: 23 year old Burnley midfielder: Chris McCann - CMC 20 year old Wigan striker: Callum McManaman - CMM If anyone else has any others, I reckon it''d be more interesting that the endless "who would you rather have, Cody or X" threads.
Kolbein Sigthorsson. He is worth a look from what I have heard about him.Alexander Gernt is another.
 11.

Yes, like Matty Jonson...  Oh.
What about Matt Svensson or Steen Nedergaard? They were alright...
I''ll see your Svensson and Nedergaard and raise you Thomas Helveg and Henrick Mortenson [;)]
I don''t  get why people don''t rate Helveg. Worthy never gave him a run in the team until the last 6 or so games in the Prem and I thought we were much better for the addition of him (and Safri and Bentley), he was class on the ball (remember his cross for Ashton in the Newcastle game?).As for Jonsson? Well he was''nt Prem quality but I am adamant he would have been great in the Championship if we played him up front. He had passion as well as ability.
 12.
Reo-Coker is on a free this summer if I have read things right, worked with O''Neill so another link although they did fall out at one point I believe. As for players that get stuck in, I think you mean a player with more physical presence. And yes they are two different things. All of our midfield look to track and tackle but some are more easily pushed or held off the ball. But I don''t think that is where we loose out so much as when we get countered we tend to have one man less in midfield with the formation we play or sometimes a good switch catches us out narrow. So for me the biggest thing to watch will be who Lambert signs because we need to be more tactically flexible to play in the premiership. Its all very good going gun ho but against the top teams you want to be able to play games where you might only see 40% of the ball and prevent them from doing anything with the lion share of the possession.
Reo-Coker? Its not going to happen.
 13.
I don''t get all the fuss about Graham though when compared with Long. Yes I know he''s top scorer and yes he''s done it in whilst not playing for a top 6 Club, he''s quite a good player, but when you compare him with Long, (international striker), he doesn''t match up imo. Long is about the best striker in that div (not playing for us!) who can create something for himself, he is one of the best jumpers (for a vertically challenged type person), and is a deadly finisher. Graham, to me, doesn''t look like he can offer anything special in the Prem.
Your right. Danny Graham = one season wonder as far as I can see, and he is 27 (wheres he been all this time?).

 15. Indeed. I was watching the game tonight and was thinking the same as you. Quick, skilful, great in the air for his height, and he certainly knows where the goal is.
 16. Just want to canvas opinion on this topic.I beleive that Adeyemi and Korey Smith may both be loaned out next season. This leaves us with the midfielders of Fox, Surman and Crofts. Crofts for me is the only real ball winner out of the 3. Fox, and particularly Surman are somewhat lightweight and may struggle against bigger, more physical players. We are linked with Cohen, but again he does not sound like a player who really gets stuck in.So I think we could do with signing another more physical midfield player. What do you think? On that note, Aron Gunnarsson is available on a free, he is a defensive midfielder who is also comfortable on the ball from I saw of him in the Coventry game. He  might be worth a look as he seems to have plenty of potential.
 17.
I think hes just playing his cards close. He wont want to shout out I CAN SPEND 40 million because then teams will start raising their players value to us.
I see your from Iceland. Theres a young up and coming Icelandic player whose name I can''t remember who has got a decent goalscoring record in his first season in the Dutch Premier League. He is attracing attention from Arsenal and Newcastle. Is he worth a punt? Supposed to be a target man with pace.
 18. Sorry heres some info.http://www.skysports.com/football/player/0,19754,11809_229069,00.html
 19. Probably won''t happen but thought I would throw his name in anyway. We need an additional target man, that much is true.Lambert is a fan of Steve Morison, so the transfer rumours would have us believe. Morison would probably cost 2.5-3 million. If we can''t afford him this guy may be worth a look as he would probably come cheaper. Seems to have lost his way a bit and been out on loan from Toulouse but he has a decent goalscoring record for Schalke and for the Danish national team.Lambert has said in the past that he does''nt really want to go down the foreign player route unless it is a Scandinavian player. Rangers were linked with Larsen a couple of years back when Iwan Chester was head scout there. So Larsens name may pop up.

 23. I know already what some of you are thinking but he is out of contract at the end of October. We don''t have any target man back up for Holt, so would he be worth a 1year/18 month deal?http://www.people.co.uk/sport/football/football-hotline/2010/08/21/crystal-palace-boss-george-burley-targets-old-tottenham-hotspur-striker-steffen-iversen-102039-22503642/
