1. I think it is quite extraordinary that we got 23,000 for a game against a little club like Wycombe yet Wigan were unable to even get 20,000 for a "glamour" match with Manchester United. Of course, Wigan will rightly say "So what? We are in the Premiership and not you". It is so frustrating that our massive fan base still doesnt equate to success on the field. City fans deserve better. Years ago the teams with the highest attendances used to be the ones with the most financial clout, but sadly football does not work like that any more.
2. I couldn''t believe this was the same player who not long ago was struggling to make any impact on games. He was magnificent - MOTM by a mile. And that wonderful shot in the second half which was tipped over the bar deserved a goal.
3.
Was anyone here on the nightmare from Paddington to Cardiff on our playoff final with Birmingham ? I left Gorleston at 04.30 drove to London to my son''s house in Paddington, had breakfast then caught the train to Cardiff along with hundreds of young and old City fans bedecked head to toe in our yellow and Green. All went well until we got to just before Newport and the damned thing stopped, and stopped and stopped for about six hours in the middle of deserted farmland. Kids were crying, tempers frayed, half a dozen or so young men a bit worse for drink were arguing with a burly railway policeman and trying to jump off the train, it was all quite fraught. Eventually we got there just before half time, missed all the build up, no food and of course we got beat ! The worst footballing day of my life, and we didn''t get any compensation either !
Surely you should have been entitled to compensation? Why were you turned down?
4. ......and of course Terry Butcher who is from Lowestoft!
5. Mike Bailey and Peter Simpson (showing my age here!!!!)
6.
I think you''re all missing one small point. He doesn''t want to play for us! We don''t need uncommitted players on the pitch, especially in this league!
That was while Gunn was in charge. He may want to stay now we have a new manager.
7.
Delia seems to have gone very very quiet , has she commented on the sacking of Gunn or the new manager yet ? very strange.
She wasnt even in evidence at the press conference when Lambert was appointed - unthinkable only a few months ago. Methinks she is sick of all the flak and wants to keep a lower profile from now on.
8. I think our next three games are winnable. If we get a decent points haul from them then I would be reasonably confident of challenging for the play-offs at the very least. Dont forget Sunderland won promotion from the Championship a few years ago after Roy Keane took over when they had made a similiarly atrocious start to the season.
9. A new manager means a fresh start for every player. Russell has proved in the past that he can be a decent player - I think Lambert will have an open mind.
10. Not sure if this has been mentioned elsewhere on the board, but a good friend of mine who is a Sheffield United supporter tells me that Fotheringham is currently on trial at Bramall Lane.
11. Still waiting for three in my household. I remember one year I didn''t receive them till the day before the season started, which was ridiculous!
12. I always felt his loan spell at City wasn''t a total write off - remember the flick-on header that led to the equaliser against Ipswich? All the best John - every football fan in the country will be rooting for you.
13. Well one thing''s for sure - Bristol Rovers are one team who WON''T be indulging in the irritating trend of playing in their away kit at Carrow Road when it''s totally unnecessary!
14. Of course I''m looking forward to the season. Not just City matches (but that''s the major part of course) but Soccer Saturday when City are away, Match of the Day. Super Sunday etc etc! Football is a drug.
15. I think whether or not to keep Setanta is an academic question as they are now surely doomed. They tried to overeach themselves and should have stuck to what they did best - providing alternative football coverage rather than try to compete with Sky Sports.
16. I must admit that if we were drawn at home to Blackpool or Peterborough in the cup I would expect us to win (all things being equal!) and would certainly not consider it a giant-killing!
17. Yes - I always look forward to the fixtures and this year is no different despite League One!
18. Very hard to predict what our attendances will be as we are going into unknown territory, but by way of comparision Leicester City''s attendances last season were pretty good, and if we are challenging for promotion I think we will get around 23,000 for every game irrespective of the opposition. However if we struggle I think we can expect many attendances under the 20,000 mark.
19. Wasn''t it Bosnich who managed to enrage the entire Jewish population of Tottenham by making a jokey nazi salute at White Hart Lane some years ago?
20. I''m with the majority on this one. Huckerby''s presence would give everyone a lift, and purely from a playing point of view he''s certainly good enough for League One. Bring him on!
21.
But is not worrying over a Twenty whatsit game in an Ashes summer a bit like caring about the crossbar challenge?
Good point!
22. What is going on? [:@]Norwich in the third division, and now England losing to Holland at cricket!!!! [8-|]I think I''ll stop watching sport and take up stamp collecting instead!
