Will be interesting days for the Norwich City strike partnership. Anybody ''experienced'' in the legal game who would like to speculate what the likely outcomes would be ? Could we could be playing Donny Rovers with a front 2 of Jacko and Oli ?
I''m a bit lost, What are you on about?
Chris Martin and Grant Holt are both due in court, on the days he mentioned. Though I seriously doubt either will get a custodial sentence!
Oh fair enough. But surely the one on the 13th doesn''t matter?
Chris Martin will appear plead not guilty, case adjurn''d for a month. Grant Holt fine £200.  3 points on licence.
ALLEGEDLYThere you are SDP, no need to remove now.
 2.
our last Chris Wood(s) wasnt bad though!
And then went on to concede the goal that sent us into Europe

STILL NO AMBITION!!!???!!![8o|][8o|][8o|]
or Van der Vaart(spelling) he was only £8 mil from Madrid...surely if we are looking to push fpor promotion this is the caliber of player we should be signing [;)]
HOW DO I GET RIDE OF THAT CRAP ABOVE MY POST????? THNX IN ADVANCE(on windows vista)
As the kids would say "Internet Fail". Presumably.
 4.

This is all we ever seem to see. How long can an unspecified ''calf'' injury keep someone out for? Michael Nelson for example has ''ankle......ligaments'' Andrew Crofts has a ''groin......strain.'' What is actually wrong with Whitbread. Why hasn''t he had an operation by now and will we ever see him play. The Club needs to clarify what is really going on here because the ongoing explanation is no longer good enough.
Having seen Whitbread turned inside out by a Dereham striker time and time again for 45 minutes, I''m in no hurry for him to be fit.
Oh and Smith was Pap too.

 6.

Blue jumper, good lord stay well enough away, you never know what you might catch.
Our first shirt was blue (well blue and white), I have it.
I shink that smells dunt it?
 7.
He appears to have been dumped on a few times in his career, there must be a reason?
Ii think the above is a good point. I''d rather wait until January and pick him up as WBA look like certainties to go down and we are pushing for automatic promotion with a string of Ward/Barnett inspired clean sheets.
 8.
The winger was hard to get - good job i still have my 95/96 player handbook, i can remember him and yes he did get sent off on his debut.
Thank you for the letters clue, I was trying the winger without the punctuation. Still stuck on centre back and other winger though. Why did we have Adams and Eadie in the squad and were playing neither??!!!!
 9.
id take a punt on De Merit. Darius Vassell is also available on a free. if someone could get him fit and he didnt want too much in wages i think he could do well on the championship! i''d take a punt on him on pay as you play and if he does the biz then give him a longer deal.
I would rather have De Merit than Nelson or Askou, though though would want to know the reason why he''s a free agent before comitting to that, ie was it similar to the Russell situation, holding out for more money/better offer or was he felt to be surplus to requirements... He''s the only one from that list I''d fancy though. Hendrie made a complete idiot of himself on Soccer AM on Saturday.
 10.
Have to say, feel a bit sorry for Whaley from this article. He was such a big talent at Preston but since he came here he didnt really impress and it seems he is now looking at non-league. Shame - I still think he could have offered us something. But in Lambert I trust :)
According to a PNE season ticket holder I know he wasn''t any great shakes there and I received a long text message full of "Ha ha ha has", same as the one from the tottenham mate of mine when we signed Doherty, he was right until we went down into League 1, the PNE lad was right all along.
 11.

The photo is also in todays London Metro paper, saw it on the way into work on the tube!
http://www.metro.co.uk/news/839516-defiant-lycra-boy-will-continue-wearing-morph-suit-despite-attack
I bet it''s his dream to be publically known as the "Defiant Lycra Boy".
 12.
I do not know nor have any need to know Chris Martin. He is obviously a young man with a very public career and no doubt a good income. Both of these things are a blessing and a curse for a young man and he has to learn to deal with them. I do, however, know and as a season ticket holder take a sense of ownership of Chris Martin the highly promising home grown Norwich City striker. Whatever he is like as a person he gets my total support as he goes about his working life. There are, however, complications. When footballers get into trouble with the law and it is allowed to unsettle them the player often end up re-locating. Chris Martin did this himself when his immaturity caused him issues (allegedly) and his drop in performance saw him sent to Luton while he grew up. Another complication is where the act proven to have been committed, and we can all think of cases, is so serious that it forever taints the player with even his own supporters or where the player''s acts become a focus for rival fans or players. This may be why Wolves appeared to be trying to rile Barton last weekend. At the moment we know nothing and it is not in the public arena. If Chris Martin''s solicitors are doing their job in a case they intend to contest they will be scanning all the media and making use of anything that affects the due process. So, in summary, this is a situation that most probably needs proper management by Norwich City to ensure Chris Martin is not affected in a way that allows him to become unsettled. If you were a rival Club interested in signing a good young striker on the cheap you would be paying very close attention. In this respect supporters have a role to play regarding Chris Martin the player and that is to protect their assett as the situation to become known deserves.
Excellent post RH.
 13.

Thank you moderators for returning this thread to the mainstream.
It was never anywhere else. It belongs in Other Football as it is not actually NCFC related.
My thread about the pompey disgrace was moved. But I think threads like that and this should be in the main board as this DOES (as does that) effect NCFC as it''s a team in our league, who look like they will benefit from getting a player they can''t afford to pay when they owe Motherwell an amount they can''t afford to pay. Every goal he scores that wins them a point in our league makes it NCFC-related. As with the Portsmouth cop-out where that crooked club was allowed to exist in our league with no points deduction this season. If Portsmouth or Cardiff play any part in our season''s success or failure, then both will be very much NCFC issues.

I would be happy to go with what we''ve got for now, and save some moolah for the January sales.(Also I bet my actual eyeballs that someone says in this thread that we need cover at right back)
We need cover at right back.
Ta.[Y]
Couldn''t have you losing your eyeballs mate. You wouldn''t be able to read Wiz''s threads otherwise.

 16. Not in terms of fame or worth, no. But the point was someone famous/worthy of joining the board, and unfortunately that not possible for Watling. Missing the point twice in one thread huh? Money can''t buy you everything.
 17.

So says that respected rag the EDP. Don''t make me laugh. Johnny Depp, Renee Zellweger, Tom Cruise and Sandra Bullock are A'' list celebrities. Our prize pair, might, just might, at a push scrape a Z in celebrity circles. Get real Archant and knock off sucking up to our two Z'' listers!
So... Wiz makes a perfectly valid point about Stephen Fry and you''re down on him like a ton of bricks........Maybe it says it all that our ''Z'' list supporters are too easily pleased with whatever the ''Saviour'' dishes up.... be it on the pitch or in the Boardroom. The fact is that Fry is NOT suitable material to have any say in the workings of a serious football and should stick to his inane tv quiz shows made up of his luvvie ''Z'' list guests.Anyone who thinks this is anything other than a farce too far is clearly rather more impressed by celebrity than the game of football.... which is what NCFC used to be all about.
Steady cluck before you start throwing insults about. Can you provide a reference to where there has been ANY intimation that he is going to be having  "any say in the workings of a serious football club"?Because if not, then please do not muddy threads with a "Z" list post. And don''t patronise Wiz, he''s more than capable of sticking up for himself. Not everyone who doesn''t want to punch Delia in the face automatically has the view she''s a "Saviour". What a narrow minded and wide of the mark post.
 18.
Time was when Delia Smith was our only known celebrity. Whatever some say it is good for business to have people in the public eye wearing the colours or mentioning the team. Today, we have Jake Humphrey gently promoting us on BBC TV and Mick Dennis doing so more loudly on BBC Radio. Stephen Fry will no doubt be asked about his directorship and he, like the others, are fans first as opposed to so many other Club owners and followers who buy into the brand. Because of the fundamental love of an historically unfashionable Club the sentiments come across as genuine and subtle and this gives NCFC credibility. There are other City fans out there too and I would put Dion Dublin into a sub-category for example. Far from being made into a joke by our celebrity associations we are being given positive exposure and credibility and this helps us to grow as a buisiness. We are lucky, Ipswich''s benefactor is anonymous and there are few Clubs who have the levels of positive promotion we now enjoy. Outside of the glamour Clubs, how many now have our media profile as a Club?
Spot on red nose, absolutely spot on.Don''t forget Mick D''s weekly appearances on Sky Sports news - he manages to turn EVERYthing he covers into an analogy about norwich. Mentions then in EVERY performance. He keeps saying he gets stick from this forum and I know some people disagree with his support of delia (I am NOT one of them) but I don''t know anyone that doesn''t appreciate his constant bigging us up in the media.
 19. Very good Wiz. [:)]I don''t blame Grant "Kissy Wrist" Holt one bit, I too agree that Archant behaved shamelessly over the whole thing. But then Grant could empty my bank account, beat up my mum and set fire to my house and I''d probably only say "Yooouuuuu" and wag my finger.
 20. Mr Dennis in my humble opionion can be counted on for intelligent and excellent collumns. This one only gets 9/10 though, because Stephen didn''t add the club badge to his twitter profile after being a memebr of the board. Lazy rubbish journalism Mick. That was a guess wasn''t it. That crest has been adorning his picture for well over a year.
 21. It''s ok CC, Wiz has apologised for going ridiculously over the top, we will now hopefully not have to wait long for how brilliantly connected Fry is to make a difference to the club. Then Wiz will show the same humility he has just shown in conceding we were right. I have total faith in that.
 22.

You wouldn''t happen to know where the coach picks up along the way would you?
Dereham I think. Not sure where else, but people often get dropped off on the way/too the game. [Y] Guess the ticket office might know?
People get dropped off on the way to the game!! How much has public transport gone up in price that it''s now cheaper to buy a match ticket with travel!!!
 23.

Wiz. I''m sorry, but this is unacceptably ridiculous. And I demand an apology from you for typing such a deliberately fact-free statement unless....can you name me 3 British (we are a British, not global club/brand/business) people in the national public eye, who have more than 7 million people following their daily updates, who proudly associate themselves with our club and have done for a long time, who are on prime time national television regularly, are regularly invited to present awards ceremonies watched by a global television audience such as the BAFTAs,are viewed by the outstanding majority of the British public as a naitional treasure, are known to be extremely intelligent and in no way could be accused of band wagon jumping or doing things to shamelessly plug their own profile. I''m only asking for 3, and by your assertion that he is Z list, that would suggest you know of 25 who more qualify as A-listers (see my point above about how we have no interest in attracting anyone other than a Brit or at the very least someone who predominantly works/spends time in this country).Give up now? Right, apologise then.If no financial investment comes as a result of Fry''s appointment to the board, then he still will not do us ANY harm at all from being involved, and will only raise the profile of the club in the best possible way. I look forward to hearing from you.Piglet.(formerly Seat0123)
I''ve given you 3 Oscar, and BAFTA award winners already Ziggy, McKellen, Attenbourgh and Winslet all British. All three considered National treasures etc. And there are a few Dames I haven''t even listed yet, Dame Judi Dench for example. So no apology owed imo there. I enjoy Stephen''s work, when subtitles are availible for me! he''s a funny, intelligent guy, but he''s no Palin, Cleese etc imo. But he''s not an A list celebrity.
Winslet isn''t a national treasure. And in terms of instand recognition of the general public, Fry is on our screens far more often than any of those. But I will be fair, and accept your opinion that they are deemed by you to be of a higher celebrity/recognition standing than Fry.However, NONE of those you have mentioned have any widely known interest in football. So let us moderate the question slightly, how many of the individuals who are "more famous" than Stephen and are well known to genuinely love the game of association football, would you be more pleased with being accociated with our club? As there''s no point in having McKellen or the Queen affiliated with the club if they don''t know the first thing about the sport. So let us look at those in the public eye who have nailed their colours to the mast: Robbie Williams (Port Vale) is probably (sadly) more famous to the general populous than Stephen Fry, James Corden (West Ham), Russel Brand (West Ham), Ray Winstone (West Ham) all are prominent culturally (currently) and football fans. Would you really rather have ANY of them as a director? All the aforementioned are love/hate figures, with more fleeting presences in the national conscience than Fry. Can you name any of those famouse figures with any gravitas that have the first clue about football that wouldn''t be seen as a one-off pathetic marketing ploy like Mike Tyson being wheeled out at posh the other day (i think it was posh, it was embarassing anyway) and Wacko Jacko at Exeter with Geller a few years back?Stephen Fry has at no point promised to deliver 23 million. He has assured us that he knows people that could. He is chums with royalty, so that''s not a lie. If nothing comes of it financially (which neither of us can be certain it will or won''t) my point is that it ONLY will do good in terms of the wider public''s knowledge/view of the club.I don''t understand the satisfaction you would derive or what point you think it helps you make to reiterate that he and Delia (but particularly Fry) are Z-list?Because to apply logic to this argument, depending on the alphabet you are using (forgive me for being presumptious and guessing English) then that would put these two individuals in the bottom possible class of celebrity. So they are with big brother contestants, Channel 5 presenters and Eurovision hopefuls then? Or are they "above" someone who has 1.7millino people subcribed to his thoughts in your eyes?An apology for the Z-listr comment please, and I''ll then accept that your opinion is that he won''t do us any tangible good. I will then look forward to the opportunity to show you that his appointment in an ambassadorial role has.
