1. Agree with the above comment, we''ve missed out on a player some fans wanted not one the manager did. Also need to be realistic here Newcastle would have just bidded more anyway. The fact there''s not much sign of any of that squad other than 1 or 2 leaving and they''re throwing 10-15 at players like Ritchie and Gayle who would take a drop down in division just to play for them somes it up
2. We''ve all talked about jerome back at his level in the championship, yet Naismith and Fletcher both have a slightly better premier league record than Jerome? 3 players you''d hope would excel in the championship. Would be very happy if that''s our front 3 along with 1 addition
3. I think it''s a given we will lose a couple and Brady is one you can afford to in my opinion. Keeping hold of olsson down the left with Jarvis/Murphy/possible replacement is perfectly fine. Money would also mean no need to sell klose/Howson/Naismith etc
4. If we can keep hold of timm klose I don''t think there would be a better defensive back four in the championship than Pinto Bennett klose olsson!
5. It would be interesting to see how sterling would have developed if he wasn''t flattered playing alongside Suarez and Gerrard at Liverpool.
6. don''t think he would get in ahead of Howson, tettey and dorrans in the championship. Also got to bare in mind he was offered a 2 year contract and I can''t imagine us giving him more than a year, and a far easier commute than he''s currently doing!
7. Kodjia looks like he''s going to turn out to be an absolutely class player. Ulloa from Leicester. Can''t see him getting a game with all the new recruits and he''s already 3rd choice. Wouldn''t mind a little look at Nathan dyer at Swansea either, left Swansea out of favour and looked like he was joining a relegation battle, now ended up winning the league!
8. Sign on fee would be massive, and then if we don''t go back up after 1 season we''ve got a player on mega wages we might not be able to shift. Would absolutely love him back but Norwich aren''t going to pay mega wages transfer fee or not unfortunately. Apparently has the same agent as vadis though, might help things.
9. I''ve got several issues with hoolahan in the premier league. Firstly in his defence we haven''t actually got a premier league forward good enough to play upfront by himself and stick it in the net 15/20 occasions in a season. However regardless of that he doesn''t score or shoot enough to play behind the striker IMO. We need a player to play in that position who is capable of scoring 10 goals and being our second highest scorer, I think that is what Neil was hoping Naismith would bring and I think he still might but it didn''t quite work out for him this season. With regards to his creativity stats I think we have to take into account the amount of the ball hoolahan does actually have in the final third. I would say that when he plays behind the forward 80% (guesstimate) of our play would go through wes at some point. Now if you look at his return, terrible striker misses aside, should he actually be contributing more? I know it sounds very harsh given the fact that most of the other creative players created consideriably less, but with a team struggling like we were I would much rather see 2 forwards. The championship is a completely different kettle of fish and hoolahan is an absolute menace, unplayable at times...why? We dominate the play and Spend majority in the opponents half with the wide men and other midfielders/backs joining in, hoolahans able to find pockets nobody has even seen, whereas in the premier league we simply don''t have the quality to commit that many men forward and we seem to break so slowly down the pitch. He undoubtably will be a key member of our championship campaign and rightly should be, but he still seems like another nearly premier league player like the vast majority of our current squad
10. I find this work rate desire stuff a complete load of rubbish. As far as I''m concerned id much rather have a player technically good enough to stick the ball in the net and take a larger portion of his chances instead of one who can sprint around chasing lost balls and can''t actually score. Looks good on the pitch but realistically it matters for a tiny percentage of the overall performance as a side. A major reason we''ve been relegated is because we haven''t scored enough goals not because we haven''t tried hard! Jerome simply isn''t good enough to play premier league football and if mbokani played up top with Naismith from Jan things might have been different. Ifs and buts....
11. Might as well play bamford if were relegated today and he''s happy here he might wanna come back in the championship!! I''d play Brady centre midfield. Sounds odd but Played behind the forward for Ireland a few times and he was drifting in all game against United. Ruddy Pinto Bennett Bassong/Martin Olsson Jarvis Redmond Brady Oneil Mbokani Bamford
12. It''s a matter of if we WANT to sell not if we need to. Worst case senario IMO we lose Brady Redmond Klose and potentially Howson (my POTS), along with some dead weight lafferty mulumbu(wages) etc, even with a current side.... Ruddy Pinto Bennett Bassong Olsson Tettey Dorrans Murphy Naismith Jarvis Jerome Still leaves Murphy hoolahan Maddison Martin Whittaker Oneil Toffolo Morris Thompson Ofoe To name a few We will be fine.
13. Pinto Martin bassong olsson Oneill Redmond Howson Brady Naismith Mbokani
14. We were unlucky not to get a result at palace I certainly wouldn''t be looking to make any changes. We had this big issue with Neil wanting to beat the team infront of him and constantly changing tactics, now we seem to have a settled formation and I hope with stick with it. Mbokani needs a player like Naismith playing off him not hoolahan. Pointless him threading these lovely little through balls for mbokani when it''s not his game he needs a 2nd striker to link up more directly in front of goal with. I wouldn''t change it tactically formation wise, although I''d be tempted to play Redmond and attack the byline more than Jarvis having to cut in majority of time.
15. I think it speaks volumes that we could all pick fair holes in Martin/bassong/bennetts performances when 2 from them play together, now when 1 plays alongside klose they Suddenly look far better and much harder to criticise. Would be my captain next season by a long way he''s a genuine organiser with a calm head and a proper footballer. Don''t think I''ve ever seen him just pump it up the pitch needlessly
16. Brady & Jarvis on the wings with mbokani and bamford in the box will bring enough. It''s the first time I''ve seen us for ages really look to get down to the byline and whip it in. Plenty of times Howson and occasionally oneil managed to get into the box, so many times this season I''ve seen us put a good cross in with 1 to aim at.
17. Ruddy Pinto Klose Martin Bassong Olsson Howson Oneil Naismith Brady Bamford
18. 4-1 to Norwich Bamford Hattrick Jerome to hit the target Gary oneil to be wearing his lucky headband
19. I still think olsson was a scapegoat for some of the many poor defensive performances we have fielded this year. Realistically with Redmond now injured it could be a small blessing in disguise and Brady will be pushed up to left midfield. He''s been somewhat restricted in recent weeks especially with hoolahan etc asked to play out of position wide on the left. Brady/Olsson combo go forward as 2 wingers and they come back and defend with the mentality of 2 left backs.
20. ''International'' Hungary Greece Romania Finland Faroe Islands Cant think of many championship teams any worse than that bunch. Any of our other strikers would have a field day
21.
Bamford is the only striker we have who has that bit of quality. He links well with Hoolahan and redmond, in the little cameos we are allowed to see. Hoolahan behind Bamford is the way to go. He gives defenders a lot to think about with his movement. Brilliant movement to get in behind them on the left and his turn in the box was sublime, with a bit more game time he might have buried that. Otherwise we are so painfully predictable. He simply has to start for the rest of the season!
We don''t have a forward complete enough at premier league level to play 4411 by himself with hoolahan behind the striker. Hoolahan also doesn''t score/shoot enough to play in that position either in my opinion and you have to ask yourself do we have a 20 a goal a season forward that hoolahan can set up? I''d say the answers no. Bamford played pretty much off vossen last season with him winning the ariel battles. He thrives off balls in the box and predominately sits on the shoulder. We have to do the same and I think if we went with 5 at the back and used the wings to play the ball across we have mbokani who is use along side, or even jerome to aim at and bamford to play off his shoulder. Speaking to palace fans they seem to think he''s a bit lightweight which isn''t too unfair looking at his build but palace tactics also demand a hard working front man for the 4411/4231 formation that they play and that''s why it didn''t work out for them.
22. Think we will see a more effective mbokani with width and support. Ruddy Pinto klose Bennett Martin Brady Tettey Howson Redmond Naismith Mbokani
23. 1/2. I personally think the formation worked really well and if it wasn''t for the normal Norwich lapse of concentration we would have Atleast a point. All those formations are going to happen because we went forward as 2 wingers and came back defensively as 5 defenders, but it gave Brady (our best player this season by a mile) so much more freedom and pinto looked a real threat without dependency to get back every time. I''ve said it before I just don''t think hoolahan can fit in our side. Partly because we haven''t got a good enough/right forward to play as 1 striker, mbokani needs support and someone to run behind for his flick ons and jerome and run around and chase lost causes but misses the occasional chances he gets and if you look at his opta movement/touches he doesn''t actually contribute as much as you would think. secondly if Naismith is going to play behind the forward surely we need to play a little more direct and get balls in the box? Howson/hoolahan wide that we have seen plenty of times makes us look solid but completely missing a trick. 3. Undoubtably Naismith can play 90 minutes but i think it''s more the question of Neil not wanting him too because of the options we have on the bench. If we''re going to make attacking changes during the game and bring another forward to play more direct/pace then he will be the fall guy, and if he''s going to stick him out wide when bringing one on then why not put fresh legs on like Jarvis/olsson to run at people? Makes complete sense. 5. Mbokani would have been ideal for the formation in my opinion. He''s taken come critism for being slow(which he isn''t) or not working hard enough, but it''s pointless playing a big strong target man with no wide men and no support for his knock downs. I Remember recent games with Howson & hoolahan wide with mbokani up top, and now we''re playing wide men but jerome? Seems a little bit poor tactically. We also should have made changes earlier in the game, mbokani/olsson/Jarvis/bamford to change the dimension going forward.
24. Rudd Pinto Klose Bassong Olsson Tettey Redmond Howson Naismith Brady Mbokani think we need to use the width and pace available to us and really go at Leicester on the counter. Mbokani down the middle and Naismith/Howson supporting with the leg work.
25. Your concern is the opposite for me, I think we''ve been making too many changes tactically each week leaving us unsettled and trying to beat the team infront of us rather than just playing our best football. Pretty much no side this season has been able to contain Leicester attack so what makes people think a Norwich team with one of the worst defensive rates in the league able to do so? Take the game to them!
