1. Sorry but I just can''t see this one happening.Davo
 2.

--- PurpleCanary wrote the following post at 21/01/2013 5:07 PM: --- A journeyman in sport is a solid professional with limited ability as opposed to a really gifted player. It has nothing to do with how many clubs he''s played for. A journeyman is exactly what Lappin is. That is not really what it means in football parlance however. The term is used in Britain to refer to a professional sportsman who plays for a large number of different clubs during his career. And usually, yes, it is reserved only for average players who move clubs often.
CJF, the definition does indeed seem now to have moved in UK footballspeak towards that idea of much-travelled, but that must be quite recent. It always used to mean someone of limited ability. It comes from the world of craftsmanship, where a journeyman was someone who hadn''t attained the rank of master.
I don''t doubt that''s what you meant however in Lappin''s case I do feel that''s harsh. Mainly because if you use that definition these days then you are basically calling every player below the highest tier (your Messi''s, Xavi''s, Rondalo''s, Kompany''s etc.) a journeyman. Lappin is no where near that level but then what Norwich player is? Wes although we like to call him the Irish Messi is not in his class, likewise Fox, Snodgrass and Bassong aren''t either.Lapin I feel is a good solid Championship player who has earned a cult status at this club for being used as a scapegoat by Roeder. A player who was harshly dealt with for a bad team performance away to Plymouth. Something that us fans didn''t like especially when we had to put up with the no-mark who did a fancy flick in training once and could only pass sideways. Now that guy is a journeyman in my opinion. A guy with little or no talent (except for the two things I''ve already mentioned) who had 4 clubs before joining Norwich and has since had 5 clubs. His latest being Ross County who he signed for in September 2012 and yet doesn''t even seem to have played a single game and is not listed on their website.Davo

I must be the only one that thinks he''s just sat around for the last 2-3 years happy to get payed and not play, bit of a drain on wages. Most say complete professional, the cynic in me is inclined to say not very ambitious, happy to barely make the bench for so long and just pick up a wage. Anyway always put a shift in when called upon so good luck Simon.
I say he''s a complete professional because at any time when he wasn''t getting in the team he could of thrown his toys out of the pram. He could of also look disinterested when he was given a chance. Instead he kept it to himself, didn''t make any Tevez style headlines and gave his all whenever he was asked to play. Sure he wasn''t a great player but I don''t think you can fault him for attitude.
This is nonsense. If you''re Ronaldo or Messi and you''re being left out of the team for no good reason you might be entitled to complain, but we''re taking about a journeyman player who was being extremely well paid in comparison to the vast majority of the population. I find it bizarre that he is being complimented for just behaving just as he should have done.
It''s no more nonsense than you calling someone who has only played for 4 clubs (two of which were loans) by the age of 30 as a journeyman. Scott Parker had played for 6 clubs by the time he was 30. Christiano Ronaldo has played for three clubs, with rumours that we wants away from Madrid and he''s three years younger. Fat Ronaldo was on his 5th club by then. Lappin can be described as many things but journeyman is not one of them.   His behaviour may be what you would expect as normal behaviour but footballers don''t behave the way us supporters do. His attitude was right but it would of been just as easy for him to complain to the press and kick up a fuss. He has behaved professionally, especially when he was training with the youth team during Roeder''s stint, when we know footballers who have no where near that amount of professionalism. He did however unfortunately lack the talent to be a top player.   Davo

 5. If QPR go down you won''t be able to get them for free. Remy will undoubtedly have a clause but it will have a value attached and it would be really silly of QPR to make it any less that what they have just paid for him. Same goes for M''Vila.Davo
 6. I was a little surprised by this but the more I think on it the more I think it''s a very good decision. Bayern are a truly massive club where he will be competing for titles every year and he will have the potential for good runs in Europe. Then there''s the fact that he turned down Chelsea. I don''t blame him in the slightest. Look how Abramovich treated AVB . He chased him for weeks paid a fortune to get him out of his contract at Porto and then decided after a few months that he wasn''t the right man after all. Chelsea could of ruined Guardiola''s career as they probably would of sacked him after a few months if they weren''t 10 points clear at the top of the table.Davo
 7.
Would be nice if they gave something back for a change with the potential windfall coming there way, so you are happy with the rise then are you?
The money you pay and the club gets from the windfall is used to fuel the club. The primary ascpet of the club being playing football. By getting this windfalla nd people paying more for tickets they can imporve the quality of product on display. What exactly is it they should be giving you back?   Davo
 8.
I suspect he would have to work hard to convince the directors he had a better plan for the long-term running of the club than the one he outlined last time.
Correct me if I am wrong but wasn''t his plan to pump in £5mill for players immediatly followed by another £15mill or £20 mill (depending on if the initial £5mill was extra on included in the deal) to get us into the Prem. Wasn''t his plan was to get us up into the Prem and for us to become self sustainable. Isn''t that our plan now, to have a club that can be self sustainable in the Prem?Davo
 9.
We score a huge proportion of our goals from set pieces and a small man up front is not going to help that stat.
How many goals have Holt and Morison scored from set pieces this season? Not many of our total I don''t think. I will admit I don''t know a lot about Hooper but I do know that just because you are small it doesn''t mean you are bad in the air. Scholes is just one example of a player who can score with his head despite being under 6 foot.   Davo
 10.
I hope not.  A waste of money. Even if he turns out to be a Robert Fleck (Mark 1) in the way he performs I still don''t see him being able to play up top on his own and I cannot see us sacraficing Hoolahan or changing the formation.  So a large sum of money for a bench warmer or an impact sub is not good value IMO.
But the great thing about football signings is we never know how they will work out. You can''t see how this will work however Hughton and his team obviously would if we signed him. I doubt Hughton would blow a figure reported to be in the region of £7mill just for someone to sit on the bench.   Davo
 11. He is well before my time but I am glad he''s working for us in a useful capacity. It feels good that he came back to us through someone like Chester who obviously employed him for his talents rather than because he''s an old boy.   I also remember reading a couple of years a go that Flecky was scouting a region of the UK for us too.   Davo
 12.
Serious question but have the people who are complaining ever been to an away game in their lives? I have yet to go to a single one where we have not stood for the entire 90 minutes.
So I take it you didn''t sit in the first 10-15 rows or so at Fulham on the opening day. That was a constant sit down, stand up situation. The stewards worked from the bottom upwards and I remember constantly being able to sit down once the rows in front of me did. I also remember three pr!cks who refused to sit down hurling abuse at the fans behind them and refusing to sit down. I am sure it would of come to blows, as the three turned on our own fans, if it hadn''t of been for the Fulham stewards.I personally prefer to stand but as I am polite and courteous I will happily sit if those in front of me do.Davo
 13. I was under the impression that it was named after Sir Arthur and that it actually east facing. Having a quick look it''s actually on the south East side with the River End on the South West.Davo
 14. I normally get there about 12ish and it soon gets pretty busy after then. And yes it''s easy to get to from the Motorway just one turning after the junction iirc.   Davo
 15.
@ Davo actually if you go on their website it says the Philadelphia Union are also one of their clients.
Fair enough I was thinking about it more from an ownership point of view.   Davo
 16. Earnshaw? He moved for prem football with Derby and we had to sell him because of the clause in his contract. Other than that it had ot be either Greeno or Ashton I think.   Davo
 17. Kaka to Real Madrid, was amongst the wrold''s best when he was at AC Milan and now he doesn''t even play.   Andy Hughes left Reading the summer before they got promoted and joined us, not Worthy''s finest moment.   davo
 18.
As an Expat living in Florida now I love this I will fly anywhere in the states to see Norwich play...I am assuming since they are a Philly based company they will be playing against the Philadelphia Union in the MLS....
Apart from both being in Philly I don''t think there''s any other link between comcast and the Union.   As for Norwich being on TV with the acqusition of the rights for Premier League games by NBC of which Comcast is the main shareholder (51% iirc) then there''s a goosd chance of you seeing Norwich on TV.   On a personal note though I am happy with this deal if it brings in extra revenue. Also there''s finally a link between my two favourite sports teams as Comcast''s owner Ed Snider is owner of the Philadelphia Flyers ice hockey team.   Davo
 19. starly should of said: Were good at finding a bargain, lets hope we can find a couple more in the january sales. I know we dont have a choice with limited funds, its a good job we have an excellent scouting network. If you were to make a team up of bargains of the season so far, I would of though you could put five city players in it: GK Cesar,QPR,free, does look good when hes not injured. DF,Lowton,Villa, cost about 3mil does look worth it. Whittaker, free,at the moment,if hes as good as centre back as he is right, even bigger bonus. Bassong,3-4mil,you can see why he went for 8mil that is what he is worth and more. Garrido, loan,do you think we could get him for 2mil,sign him up now before someone else comes sniffing around.Hes better than Naughton and that would be about 6mil. MF,Snodgrass,3mil,it may have been even less, lot better than 8mil which leeds wanted. He could be a bit more consistant, but he can score, and delivery is good. Michu,Swansea,2mil,you can add an 0 to that, player of the season so far. Tettey,2mil,when i first saw him against doncaster i thought we have a player and a half there, hope hes back for wigan, big miss, hasnt got a weak part to his game. Sterling,Liverpool, from qpr youth acad, credit for playing him, hope he doesnt sign his new contract and go to everton. FW Berbatov,Fulham,5mil, Still worth double that, done well for them knows where the net is. Benteke,Villa,5.8mil,sadly looks top class, the sort of player and price we should be after, maybe next season if all goes well. SUBS, Green, QPR. Jenkinson, Arsenal. Clyne, Southampton, maybe could of been in place of Lowton.Naismith, Everton. Diame, West Ham. Kone, Wigan. Maybe I''m a bit biased, what do you think,is there any bargains i have missed. End Just fixing the spacing and paragraphs of what otehrwise was a pretty good post.   Davo
 20.

I like Morison, but I have to ask whether he is really premiership quality.
Last season he scored as many goals as Nikica Jelavic, Gareth Bale, Darren Bent and Danny Welbeck. So in my opinion, yes.
Jelavic only joined Everton in January. Bent was injured for a long period. Gareth Bale is a winger. Wellbeck is, ok you have me there but you really should pick better players to compare Moro to. How about Graham, Holt or Long? That comparison wouldn''t do your argument any good though would it.   Davo
 21.
Nexus - no surprise you''re moaning about Stevie M - your life revolves slagging off the geezer that stuck the ball in the net tonight TWICE. However, we all know you''d never slag him off to his face, would you?. Knob Baldyboy - heard enough from you, you bellend - you''re an Ipshite tw@, and I claim my 10 squid... Knobheads.
Wow! Such personal abuse is toatally uncalled for, sure disagree witht hem  if you want to but really tehre''s no need to stoop to that kind of level.   On your point of Moro is ok however he only scored one goal and missed others. Sure he put the ball in the net twice but the 2nd one was offside so it doesn''t exactly make your argument a strong one.   Davo
 22.

I am surprised we got three players in. When I opened it up I immediately thought of Snoddy but didn''t think the defence had much chance after conceeding three. Still for some reason garth loves us this season, or is it Hughton he loves? Maybe Garth has a man crush on him.   Davo
Whittaker''s goal was worthy of any team of the week.    There could have been four players really, because Holt had a stormer too, scoring and crossing for the Bassong goal.
I agree with Holt being unlucky but if a goal is good enough for Whittaker to get in the team then the two goals scored by the strikers trumps Holt''s goal and assist.   Still think Crooksy has a man crush on our Hughton though.   Davo
