  1. Virgin also offer an "expert" service - if you explain your situation they might even do it for nothing. You won't get a better broadband speed but they could maybe improve the wifi coverage. Alternatively Sevenoaks offer a full at home set up service, as do John Lewis, if you buy a TV from them.
  2. That's so untrue it almost doesn't an acknowledgement. Have you actually been to any of East Germany?
  3. Only 3 fit centre backs. 10 new signings, but no centre backs. 35 players already in the first team squad. Quintilla has played there before, as have others. Tettey being asked to play there so frequently suggests that is where he might get his games this season, if we don't land Gibson.
  4. One fact is undisputed - the lengthy public drinking sessions on a "fashionable" sunny island. I really thought even English players would have wised up by now, but apparently not.
  5. I suspect that Tettey is being played at centre back extensively because that will be his new position - given that we do now have some potentially better CDMs in the squad.
  6. It says on wiki (so it must be true) that he earns £26m a year and that he's 33 now. Can't really see anyone giving him that on a 4 year deal once they study the video of how Bayern quite easily stopped him playing.
  7. If that's really why people get an England cap these days it shows just how sick the game is.
  8. Agreed - it is inevitable that several will move and I would be surprised if one or two deals have not already been settled.
  9. So is this a good time for Chelsea to be spending £220m? I think the impact of Covid is restricted, somehow.
  10. Our version of Mitrovic perhaps, and look what he did to Champs defences last season. Looks like good business to me - adding Gibson or one other central defender would complete it.
  11. What is it with referee's watches? He held up his wrist all the time to show he had stopped the clock, then adds only 6 minutes when Seville's players had been rolling around for at least 10. They wasted at least 4 of the 6 minutes just by falling over. They call it game management, but it's just cheating.
  12. You think Liverpool will pay £30m for Cantwell? They'll offer £5m and a set of tyres off a 1978 Ford Capri they were "looking after" and then all the scally's will hit social meedya to criticise us for standing in his way. Social profiling, anyone?
  13. Well, they are probably partly right. I can't think of a Premier League club who would have a smaller fanbase than the bin dippers, but there are probably a couple in the Champs. Maybe Rotherham, Wycombe and Luton but that's about it.
  14. Given that we have enough players for 3 teams at this level, anything below top 6 is failure. I don't expect us to win it or get auto's, but if we don't get to the playoffs the Farke/Webber era will be over.
  15. Looking at the "contracts" thread we have 45 players in the first team "squad" with only two injured. Even with 15 unavailable we still have 28 to choose from.
  16. There's nothing wrong with the science or the theory of algorithms, just the people who create them. (And incidentally the shuffle feature on itunes is intentionally designed to feature only a percentage of your saved tracks - it's only "random" within that pre-selection). I'm not suggesting conspiracy, I'm suggesting incompetence. But it's not difficult to build in advantage to a selected area within an algorithm; it is very difficult (but not impossible) to construct an algorithm to iron out all the possible creases - like the same teams always getting home games first up. They do it for Boxing Day and Easter games, but clearly choose not to for opening games.
  17. So for the third year running, Liverpool start their season at home, and for the second year running it's against the winners of the Championship. Obviously completely random and definitely no favouritism there then. We've started with an away fixture the last 3 seasons. It seems it isn't just Ofqual who have problems writing algorithms......
  18. Maclean will start if he is here and fit - I think Farke has made that pretty clear. I think the same is true of Krul, Godfrey, Aarons, Lewis, Buendia, Pukki and Cantwell. So, at the moment, there are only 3 spaces in the first 11. I think they would go to Zimmermann, Skipp and Hernandez at the moment. But everything will change before we start.....
  19. Good business by Bournemouth so far; almost £60m raised and potentially another £60m+ to come with Wilson, King and Brooks all mentioned as leaving. They've also got rid of Fraser and several others already so that is quite a chunk off that wagebill. Will be interesting to see who they buy as to whether they will be strong next year - new manager and mostly a new squad may take some time to bed in.
  20. Bayern's defence wasn't exactly rock solid. I suspect Citeh will carve them up if they get past Lyon.
  21. Not a rumour as we haven't been linked anywhere I've seen, but we were once apparently after Jack Butland and I now see that Stoke have cut their asking price to £8m from £15m for their substitute goalkeeper, who cant get in their team. Has a year left on his rumoured £35k weekly contract. Was once a very fine keeper - a story not unlike our own Tim Krul, and a classic case for Farke/Webber to resurrect a career. I get that we wouldn't pay them £8m and no one else would either, but a year on loan maybe?
  22. Watford's squad is full of players who think they are better than they are. Match that with a manager with absolutely no experience of the Championship and I don't see them challenging. If the likes of Sarr, Deulofeu, Doucoure are still around they will have an almighty shock coming their way on a wet Tuesday night in Rotherham.
  23. Mc Burnie was pretty close and he's not half the player.
  24. These are not just hot cross buns; these are Marks and Spencers hot cross buns
  25. It's actually a bit of a myth that you have be 6' plus to be any good at heading the ball. In our case the worst culprits at set pieces were probably Godfrey and Klose, in terms of either not winning their duels or getting lost. The point about zonal marking is surely that if these two were our best headers they should been in the most dangerous zones - but teams were too good at putting the ball into the zones occupied by our full backs, and once one or two worked that out everyone else copied it. We missed Zimmermann, Byram and Hanley - all good in the air.
