1.
The afternoons are traditionally left free for the snooker hall, the turf accountant or dogging.
Hey, don''t knock the turf accountant! I see my fair share of the squad of an afternoon in my shop!
2. Fingers crossed. In or out we all just want to stay up
3. I have had, and still do have many issues with CH and the way we''ve played, results, and the continuos need to be right on the edge to perform. However, as a self confessed outer, I have to admit I feel a pang of pride when I hear him talk about us. He''s so committed. I cannot imagine him ever wanting to leave, or having his head turned. His commitment to ncfc reassures me. Seeing his reaction to Tetteys thunderbolt only enhances my view. The guy genuinely does care. I respect that. Now, if we could perform like that 3 games in a row...
4. Morty - now you''ve put the thought in my head, I''m bursting to know...Do you own an elephant?
5.

Yeah, they should just admit they aren''t good enough, and accept relegation now[Y]
I fully understand the sentiment behind your comment, but what a ridiculous comment to make. I don''t think we''ve had a particularly unlucky season. It''s frustrating to hear the players and manager say that''s what''s wrong.
I struggle to remember us having a bit of luck, a penalty that wasnt, a flukey goal etc.
I''d say it''s been standard. No particularly bad, but not great. Over the course of a season you get some decisions for and against you. For every injury we''ve had, a Charlie adam has been suspended against us.

8. I keep reading interviews with Hughton and various players after games, and one thing keeps repeating. They keep saying that we just need a change of luck. It''s winding me up! Unlucky would be losing a game, or maybe a run of games, in dubious circumstances. I wouldn''t say we are being unlucky, we''re just poor. It alarms me somewhat, that our management and players are just going to carry on as they are, and wait for a change of luck.
9.
Looking through this thread I see that my 2 comments in December (points totals and fate of CH) have been remarkably prescient. That being the case I will make another............Anything less than 3 points against Sunderland will mean that it''s more likely than not, we will be playing Championship footy next season.
I think we are already staring championship football in the face. Too many chances gone begging, going right back to Hull away (the first of many chances squandered this season). The simple truth is we are not good enough for this league. We''ve struggled against promoted teams and been hammered against the bigger teams. Can''t defend, or score. I for one hold the management responsible for it (as I would be in my job).
10. "He is proven that he can motivate the team to get results when they are really needed. There is no reason to suppose he can''t do it again." Clearly today we didn''t need the points. Or against stoke. Or Cardiff, or villa, I could go on. If he can motivate the team when really needed, why haven''t we raced to 40 points and then fallen away?
11. If we''d won some of the games that maybe we should have, nobody would care. The results have driven the downturn. Not the fans. The fans weren''t responsible for the 10 game unbeaten run (which was enough to win over most fans irrespective of your point - the results in the year and a bit since have been generally poor, with occasional exceptions).
12. I completely agree there Morty, but most of our own fans would disagree (see threads re PL leaving for a club the same). Whilst I agree that Villa are a much bigger club than we are, had we beaten them yesterday we''d be above them. That, to me anyway makes them one of our peers. League position alone, not stadium size, fan base and history. Are we really lucky to be scrapping around on their level, or are they massively underachieving? Re the fact that they gave Liverpool a fright, then we should be aware of what they can do, and prepare accordingly. We were terrible yesterday (first 20 minutes aside).
13. So villas pace and power we''re too much for us to handle. I understand they have some pacey and powerful players. But they''re not exactly setting the premier league alight. I was already worried about relegation, but the fact the we can be so outclassed by a team supposedly on the same level as us is a huge issue. I can''t remember the last time we played anyone and they came away saying that we out paced them, or we''re too powerful. Or both.
14. Even 1-0 up and playing ok, we still lack the confidence to go on. Not the first time it''s happened is it? The mentality in the squad is ruining us, and has been for so long that now even when it''s going well there''s no belief or confidence. Who is to blame for that? The players? The management? The fans? The board?
15. What''s all this conspiracy carp someone is on about?
16. Very happy with the win, and performance yesterday, and the work rate in the last 4 games or so. What I don''t understand is, why has it taken our precarious position to bring this out? We can play Tottenham, who always score, and we''re not defensive at all, yet earlier in the season we seemed so concerned about not conceding that all we did was defend, against arguably lesser opposition. Surely it shouldn''t take the very real threat of relegation to get us playing the way we seem to be now. Pre-season and training would be the time to get it sorted, not the first 23 games of the season. Not a moan, a simple question - we could have had so much more of an enjoyable season.
17. I''m not really one for what ifs, or if onlys, but I was chatting to a fellow city fan the other day, and he was strongly of the opinion that had van Wolfsinkle not had the ball snatched from him for the pen against Villa, and he''d scored, our season would be entirely different. I thought this was a bit harsh on snodgrass myself, but does anyone think he has a point?
18. Good shout with McLaren. I was thinking that whilst watching Derby beat qpr the other day.
19.
And is it relevant that we are currently outside the bottom three?
Of course it''s relevant. Not only is it relevant, it''s the way it is. I''m just saying that a few weeks ago west ham were in an entirely different position. As were we. The difference is they''ve picked up results when expected, and we haven''t. The situation a few weeks ago is now irrelevant. The situation as it is now is what counts. Currently we''re outside the bottom 3 (good), but over the course of that last few weeks we''ve dropped points we''ve expected to gain (bad). This, in my opinion leaves us in a much worse position than we would have all expected to be in. Still, win our next 2 and we''ll all be a lot happier. Can you see it though?
20. A few weeks ago we still had half a season to go, and a run against beatable teams, from which we haven''t taken the points we might have expected. It''s entirely relevant.
21. I strongly disagree with the statement that CH has consistently outperformed his budget. Weren''t we the 9th highest spending team in the summer, or something?
22. I agree with you there Ron, but feelings are running high at the moment. And for good reason. I could have said that, rather than waffling on. There''s never any need for personal insults on a discussion forum.
23. This is a discussion forum. We''re playing terribly, and looking like going down. I''d be more upset if all the fans exhibited such blissful ignorance. Message boards are for discussing. That''s their actual purpose. And right now there a lot to discuss. I think the level of negativity is natural, as so many have been able to see what happening all season, and gradually more and more people are realising it. We''ve had ample opportunity this season to put this all to bed. Fans have every right to ask questions. Everyone has a choice over whether or not the read or contribute to these boards. If you don''t like what''s being discussed, don''t read it.
