1. No chance. Worked wonders with our club and without him we would have ended up in administration and in League 2. As someone else said in another thread, if we were offered a manager while in League 1 who would get us promoted twice and then finish mid table in the Prem then move on we would all have bitten their hand off.
2. I don''t really want Hughton either. I would go for: 1. Culverhouse 2. Lee Clark 3. Gus Poyet 4. Karl Robinson
3. Dave Jones was manager when we went up. But I still don''t want Malky, I want Culverhouse.
4. Why will we not get compensation? We had to pay Col U compensation and the exact same thing happened then. What interests me is how he knows he''s certain to get the job, as if we haven''t given permission for them to talk to him, he may have now resigned and have no job at all? Either that or I''m being so naive that obviously they will have spoken to him anyway and made it known that he is their number 1 target.
5. I actually can''t believe you started a new thread.
6. Our kit launch video was funny, this is freaking hilarious (for us)!
7. I hope this is allowed, but I''ve started my own blog at ukfootballsociety@blogspot.com. It''s just a general view of English football but obviously biased around City. It''s in it''s fledgling days but after a few weeks there''ll be a lot more articles and posts on there I hope! Again, ukfootballsociety.blogspot.com. Cheers! Dom
8. ...was fantastic today. Despite playing up top he dropped deep and linked up the midfield to forward players really well and held the ball up when necessary. I was disappointed when he was taken off as at that point in the game I think a front 3 of Morison, Vaughan and C Martin would have given us what we needed to push on for an equaliser. I thought Holty was anonymous for the entire time he was on the pitch.
9.
Went to Histon, my local team, versus Stalybridge Celtic. Histon goalie sent off for a professional foul, with Histon fans saying it was a dive and that the opposition player was going away from goal. Deja vu or what? "If only they''d signed Fraser Forster", I muttered inwardly to myself.
I went to Histon too, they play a lot better football than they did a few years ago in the BSP, if the keeper wasn''t sent off I think they would have gone on to win it, two really good chances in the first half could have put daylight between them and Stalybridge. Anyway I think it was a good idea, but Histon''s gate was still only in the 300s as it has been all season.
10. I bet the majority live in and around Norwich, but me, Littleport, Cambs.
11.
It is a £150k car, are players we are interested in earning that much?
You serious? I doubt it, but £150k is nothing to a championship footballer, probably 15-20 weeks wages but over a 6 or 7 year career they will have millions saved up, unless they are gamblers or drinkers
12. They also may be offered but reject the deal and are thus released, like Bradley Johnson at Leeds.
13. I''ve picked realistic ones who I would like, no like Bosingwa or Michael Owen. Kazenga Lua Lua - Newcastle - great pacy player lethal from free kicks, would be a great signing. Angel Rangel - Swansea - would challenge for number 2 spot with R Martin Zavon Hines - West Ham - same category as Vaughan, untried in the prem but different dimension to what Vaughan will give us. Pacy and good finisher, but in a relegated side so would question his mentality. Patrick Kisnorbo - Leeds - not seen him play for a while but a commanding presence at the back, challenge Whitbread or Ward for a place at the back. For me these would be four great free signings but who knows who PL will go for? Also talking of Swansea, watched Wales in their Carling Nations games and David Cotteril has been excellent in both games for me, whips in a great cross and is different to the midfielders we currently have being a wide man.
14. Well McNally said that he promises we will survive (BBC News) so I think that plan has been scrapped and we''re going for it!
15. I''m sure Carew will sign for Stoke, Reo-Coker probably QPR but I would take him.
16. "Earnshaw is the most selfish player around, his only contribution is to be the final man and to shoot, he''ll rarely pass to a team mate. When he was here he was comfortably top scorer in the league but very low in the OPTA stats as apart from goals (I know very important) his overall contribution to the team was low. Not really a Lambert player." Hate to disagree but look at Hoolahan before Lambert arrived, very selfish and often lost the ball trying to beat players. Lambert has turned him around and he now backtracks all the time and is a quality all round player.
17. "Spot on scrimmage, OTJ has not had his chance yet! People are writing him off without having seen him given a chance! " Nah, he''s sh*t!
18. I didn''t say I would have any of them in the team. Edwards played at Blackpool so knows more than most of our team what the premier league is about, even if he was only there as a squad player. Vokes is backup for Holt. We have been saying all season we need backup for him and only when we had Vokes did we actually have any. OTJ is almost certainly leaving but none of us really know how good he is because we have hardly seen him play. Suggesting he isn''t good or at least rated by Lambert. However whenever he has played he has always seemed like he fits in ok to me.
19. Considering he had only made 7 appearances before he came to us (tore his hamstring 13 minutes into his Bristol City debut then 6 times at Sheffield United) I don''t think he did badly at all. He is young and hungry and good quality.
20. Rob Edwards not Kingson. And Vaughan if he doesn''t sign a new contract.
