George Francomb
Canary_on_the Trent replied to Mark Fotheringham City Legend's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Looks a decent player to me but as said above the Premier League is a massive step up, especially for a youngster trying to establish himself as a professional. A loan at a League 1 side is the most realistic option this season, very few Championship clubs would loan a player with just a few League 1/2 & SPL games under their belt. -
Undoubtedly has the talent but yet to really impose himself on games at a decent level. If Lambert can find a role for him & get use of his technical ability we''ll have a top player on our hands

England midfield three
Canary_on_the Trent replied to N city till I die's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
If Lampard plays in the same deeper role he''s been playing for Chelsea recently it could work in a 3 with Gerrard playing off a striker. I personally would have had Carrick in the squad, the 1 player that can keep the ball. -
A decent young midfielder but ultimately our rise in recent years has made it even harder to break through at senior level. I hope he finds another pro club.

Martinez very strong bookies fav. now

If I was to put a few thousand pounds on Lambert his odds would drop, just ignore it. -
Unchanged unless Drury is fit. Looked the most balanced side we''ve put out in a while. Ruddy Naughton, R.Bennett, Martin, Lappin Howson E.Bennett, Johnson Hoolahan Jackson, Holt

Who was in Cardiff 10 years ago today?

Was a special day & amazing being 1 of 30,000 City fans travelling across the country. I don''t think I''ll ever witness a better atmosphere. -

If the price is reasonable I don''t really see what we''ve got Toulouse. -

I''d be lying if I said I had seen him play before but I''ve done a little digging. He broke into the Caen side after they had been relegated in 2009. Since then he has been a regular, winning promotion in 2010 & avoiding relegation last season, they''re almost safe this season with 2 games remaining. -

Korey Smith and Chris Martin
Canary_on_the Trent replied to YellowBlood's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I think Chris Martin will be off in the summer, I rate him & he contributed so much to the 2 promotion but he''s not a kid anymore & can fetch a decent price. Korey Smith will remain a City player but he''ll be a fringe player, perhaps going out on loan again. -
Stevie G's happy clappers
Canary_on_the Trent replied to Hugh J Wurzell's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I certainly didn''t clap but if a player I really respected on & off the pitch came to Carrow Road & served up something really special I would potentially clap. Didn''t Real Madrid fans applaud Ronaldinho when he was at Barca, even with all the hatred between those clubs. -

Looked a very talented player last season & was unfortunate with Simeon Jackson hitting a real purple patch not to feature more, Interesting that he''s not featured much for ayo Vallecano, I''ve heard he''s not seen eye to eye with the manager? -
Ryan Bennet Against Gunners
Canary_on_the Trent replied to chris bakewell's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
I think its a touch unfair to say he''s just an old-fashioned centre back that will get rid of the ball long. He doesn''t have the composure Ayala does on the ball but he''s always trying to look for the pass into midfield. Lambert on a number of occasions actually instructs his back 4 to get the ball forward quickly to turn the opposition around & put us on the front foot. -
Transfers etc. Very long winded.

FAO Shyster, I wasn''t aware Norway matches coincided with Premier League matches. -
Ryan Bennet Against Gunners
Canary_on_the Trent replied to chris bakewell's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
He''s shown more than enough that he''s going to be a top draw centre back & a bargain at £3m. How many 22 year olds are playing regular at centre back in the Premier League? Very few! He''s going to make mistakes & get caught out at times due to his inexperience but he''s been superb in a few games, notably at both Spurs & Arsenal. He''ll have learnt a lot from the torrid time he had against Tevez & Aguero, he will have never played against players with their movement & quality before. -
Damn West Ham... whittingham?
Canary_on_the Trent replied to smooth's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Technically superb & great left foot but I don''t think he''s mobile enough. Many moan about Surman but he does cover a lot of ground & from what I''ve seen of Whittingham, he doesn''t. I''d rather we looked at another out-and-out winger & a disruptive midfielder who can play a bit. -
Trappatoni two weeks ago said this: "I have spoken to Marco about him, he has been fantastic. We have already James McCarthy and McClean. This is not the campaign for too many young players, but Hoolahan is not young, he is (nearly) 30. We think about him. He played well in the last game I saw. He played in a specialist position behind the strikers. I have thought about him and we will consider this option. We have a system and maybe it''s too late to change that system. I don''t forget Hoolahan and maybe he will be there for the next campaign for the World Cup." I gather he said something very similar today.
-
Its not a coincidence that he is so well-respected within the game. I don''t think many people would have been able to do what he did in that first season & saved us from the drop. However as I said previously he isn''t a very good man-manager & once the honeymoon period had elapsed it was downhill from there.
-
Roeder managed us at Stoke once; 1 of his earlier games when we were bottom, I recall a front 3 of Croft, Dublin & Hucks. I the very first point you make is so incorrect shall I even bother with the rest of your post? The 1 winger system actually took us on a 13 game unbeaten streak from the bottom of the division. He was then found out the following season because of his man-management & the quantity of short-term loans he brought in, because the funds weren''t there to make the 10+ permanent signings we required at the time. His permanent signings that summer were generally decent players; Kennedy, Stefanovic, Clingan, Hoolahan & Bell whom we made profit on in 6months.

Villa are a big club and thats why he shouldn''t go there. They want to challenge the top 6 but simply don''t have the resources to do so.
